It can be so depressing when an Icon closes their doors. In this economy, we've seen it happen all too often. Sadly, Geocities is shutting down on October 26th.   You may think, "Who cares?" Actually, you might. Many older, informative fansites were hosted by Geocities. Those will be gone forever.

That brings up the question;….Are anime fansites really needed anymore? My affiliate, Anime Yume, wrote a very interesting article on her blog about the disappearance of fansites. You can read it here. Like the article states, with the advent of YouTube, Wiki, and now Crunchyroll, fansites like AnimeAdmirers may not be needed anymore. However, my site is my hobby… whether there is 1 visitor or 1,000 visitors, I enjoy working on it and will continue.

Due to the closing of Geocities, there have been some changes. The Zoids Chaotic Century/Guardian Force page has been moved to this main host. That's good news, because this is a paid host with no advertising. The Free Image Site (hosted by Geocities) will replace the Zoids URL. Hopefully, that makes sense. By the way….have you noticed how much advertising there is on some websites lately?  It's like one big, damn commercial! Yuck!

In closing...just a little reminder: As mentioned on the September 28th update, Naruto Shippuden premieres on Disney XD this Wednesday, October 28th, at 8:30pm. Keep the snacks by the TV….episodes 1 thru 4 will be airing. Enjoy!

Looks like Bakugan Season 3 will hit our airwaves in 2010. According to Anime News Network (given the tip from John), Corus Entertainment revealed during its Investor Day event in September (It's all about the money. What sells and what doesn't..) that the third season of the Bakugan anime series, Bakugan Gundalian Invaders, is set for next year. I happen to enjoy the series so this is good news. Look forward to it.

There is more good news on another series that I'm totally addicted to...Bleach! Looks like Cartoon Network will be airing the 2nd movie, "The Diamond Dust Rebellion", on the evening of December 5th. If you can't wait until then, just head on out to your favorite store...it was released a few months ago on DVD.

Anime fans, it's time to mark your calendars for some very important dates. First, the SyFy Channel's schedule shows the premiere of "Monster" will commence on October 12th at 11:00pm. You can view the schedule HERE!

Next, it appears that Naruto Shippuden will premiere on Disney XD Wednesday, October 28, with a four episode marathon. The episodes will begin at 8:30pm Eastern time and end at 10:30pm. The titles of the episodes airing are (1) Homecoming, (2) The Akatsuki Makes Its Move, (3) The Results of Training, and (4) The Jinchuriki of the Sand. (NOTE: Date is subject to change.)

Finally....the site has the following additions:

Unfortunately, I made an interesting discovery yesterday. Sometime during the Summer of 2008 Yahoo split my Website's email address. I had no idea until someone (via my guestbook) told me they had sent me some info, but it never arrived. As some of you know, AnimeAdmirers has been around for about 10 years, and I've always checked my emails in the same manner.

To make a long story short….when going into my Yahoo Hosting account, there was one of those…"Hey…what does this button do?" Well, after pressing it, lo and behold…there were all the AnimeAdmirer emails from over a year. Emails from friends, fanart submissions and fanfic submissions that I didn't even know existed. I feel terrible. There are over 500 so have patience with me as I sift thru them all, but I do plan to respond….even though many people won't even remember emailing me. Those of you who had written to me, please accept my sincere apology.

Now for some great news! Fans of Naruto can look forward to watching Naruto Shippuden come this October. Anime distributor, VIZ Media, has teamed up with the Disney XD Channel to air the series this Fall. Note: This is the same channel that aired Digimon Data Squad last year. I'll let you know when an actual date is set for its premiere.
