SHAMAN KING

Good natured, happy-go-lucky Yoh is the main protagonist of this series. He normally doesn't let things bother him and will joke around if he does get nervous. Hence the adorable grin he's often seen wearing. Yoh's family comes from a long line of strong Shaman's, however, Yoh didn't get serious until recently. At one point he wanted to be a rock star. Yoh came to Tokyo to find the spirit that was his destiny. His spirit turned out to be Amidamaru, a great samurai warrior that lived 600 years ago. Their spirit unity is tough to beat.

Anna is Yoh's fiancé....yep...you heard right. This was arranged after she saved his life when they were younger. She is extremely domineering and bossy, but usually has Yoh's best interests in mind. She has a strong desire to become Shaman Queen, which is why she puts Yoh through rigid training. Anna is a special kind of Shaman called, Itako, which is one that can call spirits from Heaven or banish them to hell.

Little Morty loves to read horror stories and has the ability to see ghosts. Due to his special sight, he is often the subject of teasing and ridicule. When Morty met Yoh, his world changed. His friendship with Yoh (and other Shamans they had met) helped to change this scaredy cat into a brave young man. In the original Japanese version, this boy's name is Manta.

Pride and determination are qualities that Lenny possesses. However, he can be very short tempered. Lenny was once a lone wolf whose ultimate goal was to destroy Yoh and become Shaman King. He didn't believe that a Shaman could become friends with their spirits. As the series progresses, Lenny's cold heart begins to thaw and a friendship is built between him and Yoh. Even though they are friends Lenny still harbors a strong desire to defeat Yoh in the tournament to prove who is the strongest. Lenny's guardian ghost is Bason.

Rio (a.k.a. Ryu in the Japanese version) was the leader of the Dead Enders before hooking up with Yoh. He, too, has the ability to communicate with ghosts and eventually became a Shaman. Rio's guardian ghost is Tokageroh.....or the lizard spirit. Rio is a bit obsessive over two things....his ever changing thick dark hair and pretty young girls. Putting all that aside, this big guy turns into a trusted and loyal friend.

Trey (a.k.a. Horo Horo in the Japanese version) is a Shaman from the North. He wants to be Shaman King in order to save a small race called Koro Pokkuru spirits. Trey uses ice and snow in a Shaman fight, and is a highly skilled snowboarder. His guardian spirit is Kororu. When not in battle, Trey isn't always too bright. It's a good thing he has his sister, Pirika, to watch out for him.

Zeke (a.k.a. Hao in the Japanese version) is Yoh's twin brother. Sadly, due to the cycle of transmigration, Zeke is actually an evil Shaman that wanted a body from the strong Asakura family. A thousand years ago, Zeke was a powerful Shaman who wanted to become King so he could rid the world of useless humans. Now...with his Spirit of Fire and ability to manipulate the elements, he is a threatening force that must be stopped.
