NOW AND THEN, HERE AND THERE

Even after facing inconceivable adversity, Shu remained the eternal optimist. Thrown into this alternate Universe completely by accident, he refused to give up his quest to save LaLaRue. After he was made a soldier in Hamdo's army, Shu would not handle any weapon other than his kendo stick. No matter what, he believed that things would get better, and killing was wrong. Shu would be considered the one shining star in a sky of darkness.

With her pendant, LaLaRue has the ability to control water, a scarce commodity on Hellywood. This is why King Hamdo wanted her so desperately. She has been alive for thousands of years, and watched as century after century mankind has destroyed one another for whatever reason. Her faith in humankind was pretty much lost until she met Shu and then Sis.

Hamdo is the insane ruler, who (What else?) wants to control the world. He breaks down into fits of uncontrollable rage when things don't go his way. However, when things are going well, he acts like a giddy child. Hamdo is unforgiving and ruthless....he will surely be considered one of the most hated anime characters.

Plucked from his village as a child to serve in Hamdo's army, Nabuca never gave up the hope that he would be reunited with his family after the war was over. Because of that desire, he carried out his duties even if it meant killing innocent women and children. Nabuca was rescued by Shu after they fought one another in episode 2. That act of kindness made Nabuca a sometimes reluctant ally of Shu's.

Poor Sara was mistaken for LaLaRue and kidnapped from her home in America. When it was discovered she was not who they thought, Sara was imprisoned and summoned only to satisfy a soldiers desires or Hamdo's wishes for reproduction. Sara is forced to murder one of the soldiers in order to escape. She is left with emotional scars as well as an unborn child.

Hamdo's second in command. She is so eager to please that she endures his constant degradation and abuse. It almost seems as if she has some feelings for this insane Ruler. Whatever the reason, she carries out his orders no matter how sinister they may be. For some reason she harbors great disgust towards LaLaRue.

Tabool was taken from the same village as Nabuca. Unfortunately, the war and it's senseless killing has left this boy lacking in any compassion. One could say his heart was ripped right out of him. Killing became a pleasure. After a while, he begins to thirst for more power and loses sight of those who were once his friends.
