It's a time for rejoicing....Cherubimon has been defeated. Wait a minute....Koji notices the Digital World restoration is not taking place. Not only that, but more data seems to be disappearing.

The children move forward and eventually run into a Digimon called Baromon. Thinking he is not friendly, they all evolve to their human spirits. After a small confrontation, Baromon tells them not to attack....he has a prophecy....Lucemon will be reborn. The children de-evolve.

Baromon shows the children the Tunnel of History and explains Lucemon's past once again:

At the start of the Digital World there were 10 spirits and 10 different types of data. The 10 ancient legendary spirits banded together to defeat a radical Lucemon, and then sealed him in a world of nothingness called "The Dark Area." Lucemon's demise released the spirits, but they needed protection. They were entrusted to the 3 celestial warriors who had chosen to rule....5 to Cherubimon, 2 to Seraphimon, and 3 to Ophanimon. Then there was a wonderful lasting peace, but Lucemon was waiting. He projected his aura into Cherubimon and used him. In fact, Lucemon acted through Cherubimon. When the children defeated Cherubimon, the massive amount of data was released and absorbed by Lucemon.

Baromon explained that Lucemon continues to send his underlings to absorb the Digital World's fractal code and soon everything will be destroyed. He fears it is too dangerous for them and tells the children to return home. Takuya and the others refuse to leave. They possess the spirits of the legendary warriors and are proud to be digimon. The children vow to save this world and stop Lucemon!

Emerging from the rubble of still more destroyed land comes Dynasmon (the passionate warrior) and Crusadermon (the indifferent warrior)....also known as the Royal Knights. Why would the Royal Knights, known as defenders of right, align themselves with Lucemon? They believe it is Lucemon who will restore order and warns everyone not to interfere.

When the Royal Knights absorb more code, the children evolve and a battle ensues. Takuya and Koji concentrate their attacks on Dynasmon, but their attacks are too weak. Dynasmon's "Dragon's Roar" attack pierces the armor of our two heroes. At the same time the others have found it necessary to beast spirit evolve to fight Crusadermon, but she soon cuts them down. They found it's time to give their spirits to Takuya and Koji.

Even with EmperorGreymon's "dragon fire crossbow" and Magnagarurumon's "magna missiles" they are no match for the Royal Knights. Crusadermon uses the "fist of Athena" and Dynasmon uses "Dragon's Roar" to beat them. The Royal Knights turn their attention to the others. Baromon tries to protect the children with his "meteor dance" attack doesn't prevent the wave of destruction heading straight for the children. Baromon takes most of the impact and is destroyed. The others are rendered either shaken or unconscious....their fractal code exposed and vulnerable. All except Koichi who's fractal code does not appear.

The knights find the human data beautiful and make that their next target (how morbid), but EmperorGreymon and Magnagarurumon (with some strength left in them) won't allow them. Suddenly, Dynasmon uses the "breath of wyvern" attack. An attack so powerful that even Crusadermon begged him to stop for it would destroy everything. A huge explosion takes place!!

Lucemon in his private seclusion chants, "Hurry Royal Knights....bring me the data!"
