A purified Koichi hangs his head in shame not quite understanding what had happened to him. Takuya recognizes the boy from the train station. Koji just wants to know if what Koichi said was true. Koichi confirmed and explained everything.....his grandmother's confession, finding Koji's address and seeing Koji, his father, and stepmother, and then following him at the train station. How he arrived in the digital world is a blur...but he did recall meeting Cherubimon.

Later, Koji and Koichi are sitting in different boxcars while riding Trailmon to Rose Morning Star. The train digimon suddenly stops to take a rest. While sitting in the station, Koji asks Takuya about brothers. Takuya tried to explain his relationship with his younger brother (the fighting then making up). The other chosen children join in the conversation while, in a separate boxcar, Patamon reassures Koichi.

All of a sudden Cherubimon appears and sends the Trailmon flying. The chosen children spirit evolve, but the evil digimon's vicious attacks soon have them de-evolving to their human selves. Koichi faces Cherubimon angry and questioning why he was made to fight with Koji. Cherubimon declared the darkness within the youth's heart was strong....he then attempted to convince Koichi to join him once more. Koichi refuses to become his pawn. Just as Cherubimon prepares to destroy the boy, a bright light (from Koji's digivice) surrounds Koichi. The pure spirits of Duskmon and Velgemon enter a new digivice for Koichi. "The power of darkness to defeat evil!" Koichi evolved to Lowemon and battles Cherubimon.

When the battle leads to Cherubimon using his "lightning spear" attack, Koichi beast spirit evolves to JagerLowemon and defeats Cherubimon by penetrating right through the menacing digimon. Wait a minute! No fractal code? Cherubimon chuckles as it was simply a hologram....he then invites the boy to defeat him at the Rose Morning Star. Koichi attempts to leave the others to face Cherubimon alone. No way! Lightness and Darkness shall work together and so will the strength of friendship!!!
