Zoe, J.P. and Tommy are unable to enter Sakkakumon even after Spirit evolving, however, they see that Duskmon has entered easily. Using her D-tector, Zoe contacts Takuya and explains that Sakkakumon is a Beast-type Digimon (Spirit of Steel) with 10 portal-like areas. She also tells him of Duskmon, which sends Takuya on a search for Koji.

In a dark area of Sakkakumon, Koji is wandering aimlessly when Duskmon grabs him by the collar and begins reading his memories.

Koji shyly enters a flower shop, and a young, bubbly salesgirl volunteers to help him. He explains he is buying flowers for his parent's wedding anniversary. She is surprised when he says it is only three years. Suddenly, he receives a message on his cell phone, "This is a game to determine your future." Koji responds to Ophanimon and heads to the subway.

Duskmon can't understand why these memories effect him so deeply and continues to probe Koji's thoughts.

Koji sits in his room sadly looking at a picture of his mother when his father enters. His father tells Koji to accept his stepmother, because it's been three years since his real mother passed away.

Takuya, meanwhile, has suddenly been attacked by IceLeomon as he was walking through an icy cold area. Takuya didn't want to waste time battling as he knew Koji was in danger. He immediately evolved to Agunimon and after a few powerful attacks, was able to ..."Fractal Code Digitize!" Two portals opened, one of which led outside. Takuya chose to stay inside and find Koji.

Duskmon loses his grip on Koji as more dark thoughts swim through his head. Koji is able to evolve to Lobomon and a battle ensues. Lobomon's attacks don't even scratch Duskmon. Lobomon does his slide evolution to KendoGarurumon. A vicious collision with Duskmon sends Koji back to his true self quite shaken and hurt. Duskmon appears over him ready to give the final blow. Koji cringes..."I can't die...I want to say...Happy anniversary, Mom" ... (shows Koji handing his stepmother the flowers with an adorable smile on his face).

At that very same moment Seraphimon's Digiegg sends it's power to Koji's D-tector in a beam of bright light. Combining human and beast spirit, Koji fusion evolves to Beowolfmon. As they are battling, Koji sees a young boy within Duskmon. Just then an explosion of power sends Duskmon and Beowolfmon into different sections of the dark forest. Koji searches for Duskmon to find the answer the burning question, "Just who is that boy who looks just like me?"
