The episode begins just after last episode’s battle with Snaky. Dizzi and Kenny are giving a post-game analysis of the opponent’s magnetic beyblade, and some fun commentary on Tyson’s gas. They figure out their opponent’s blade has a magnetic core of unknown composition. Tyson declares that blade may have a core, but it doesn’t have a heart, and heart is what wins. Hillary thinks Tyson is delusional, beyblades don’t have hearts! They argue again. Kenny suddenly makes a discovery: the opposing beyblade’s metal is the same as the robot from the prison ship. Hillary deduces that their kidnappers in black and their opponent with the magnetic beyblade are working together. Tyson says he’ll be ready to face them. But Kenny criticizes Tyson, saying he hasn’t had a consistent winning game since the Bladebreakers split up. Tyson’s a bit down from all this criticism. Suddenly Kenny wonders where Kai is. They see him at the observation point railing, staring out over the ocean with his usual unreadable expression.
Back at Gideon’s dark and evil control room, Dr. B is analyzing all the data on Tyson’s beyblade. He still doesn’t have enough data on Tyson himself. When a technician questions why they need more data, Gideon asks him to explain why Tyson beat Snaky’s magtram. Gideon’s master plan involves all the other Bladebreakers, and he wants to know where they are. The researchers only have spotty data. Gideon realizes Tyson would have warned his teammates about his organization, and they will be on their guard. He needs to give the Bladebreakers a reason to reunite.
It is sunset, and Tyson, Kenny, and Hillary are walking along the riverside path. Kenny needs to analyze the mystery metal further. Hillary asks Tyson to finally introduce her to Kai, who is walking up behind them, hands in his pockets. He looks very dark and intimidating in his new ninja-style battle costume. Tyson cheerfully introduces Hillary to Kai, and Hillary makes a very polite bow and greeting. Kai just walks silently past, to her great irritation. Kenny wonders where Kai is staying, and Tyson invites Kai to stay at his family’s dojo. Kai appreciates the offer, but is unsure. Tyson won’t take no for an answer, and besides Kai can distract Tyson’s grandpa. Tyson drags Kai towards home.
At the dojo Kai is politely sitting on the floor, bedding neatly folded beside him. Tyson’s grandpa is sitting opposite Kai, declaring that fate has bought Kai to his dojo so he can have kendo lessons. Kai has a pained “oh brother” expression on his face. Tyson enters with a second armful bedding and criticizes his grandpa for giving the sword spiel again. Grandpa in turn criticizes Tyson’s lack of commitment, but Tyson isn’t affected. Instead, he mercifully shoves his grandpa out of the dojo and locks the door. Kai is surprised, then breathes a sigh of relief. Tyson sits down opposite Kai and asks how he has been. Kai just silently picks up his bedding and moves to the opposite side of the dojo. Tyson is frustrated Kai won’t talk, but doesn’t push it.
The next morning Hillary is running along the street, towing a very confused and agitated Kenny behind her. Hillary was thinking all night about Kai, and she is convinced that he is involved in all the mysterious events. Kenny protests that Kai is trustworthy (except that time he turned evil in Russia), but Hillary won’t listen. They run into the dojo’s yard and see Grandpa at this morning practice. He thinks they are there for lessons, but Hillary just asks where Tyson is. Grandpa leads them to the dojo. Kai is not there, just a loudly snoring Tyson still sprawled out on his futon. Apparently he slept last night in the dojo with Kai, maybe guarding Kai from Grandpa?. Grandpa wakes Tyson up with a loud “PRACTICE TIME!” Tyson crashes against the wall, and yells at his Grandpa for waking him up like that. Hillary asks where Kai is. Tyson looks to one side and sees Kai’s bedding properly folded up on a bench. Grandpa says Kai was up at dawn, that he had something important to do at the beach. Hillary is suspicious.
The scene opens on the ocean, a strip of beach, and a tall retaining wall. Kenny, Tyson, and Hillary have searched the beach for over an hour, but no sign of Kai. Hillary is convinced Kai is a spy, despite what the others say. Suddenly they hear a beyblade nearby. Tyson whips out his own shooter and beyblade, ready to battle. A soda can suddenly pops over the wall onto the sand. We see Kai’s beyblade zigzagging about, hitting soda cans one after another, and finally launching into the sky. Kai catches his blade with a flourish. He is standing on the retaining wall, silhouetted against the brilliant blue sky (Money Shot!). Awhile later Kai is still standing on the retaining wall, while the others sit. They are discussing Kai’s opponent from episode 5, the mysterious caped beybladers, and the invisible bitbeasts. When Kenny says no wonder Kai lost, Kai hotly declares it was a draw! Tyson tells Kai to chill, even the best lose sometimes. Tyson and Kai start arguing who the best is. Kenny tells Hilary that is the sound of good friends arguing, but Hillary is still suspicious. Tyson invites Kai to join them, they can defeat these strange opponents as a team. Kai refuses; once was enough for him. He silently stalks off, and Hillary is convinced that Kai is not their friend.
In a dark hallway at Gideon’s lair, a new beyblader in the distinctive green uniform enters the room. Dr. B introduces their new magtram blader, a tough-looking teenager named Darryl. When Gideon asks him to demonstrate, Darryl gives a roaring powerful laugh and launches his beyblade. It crackles with energy and zigzags through the room. Gideon is very pleased.
Hillary runs into Kenny’s family restaurant and up to Kenny’s room. There she finds Kenny and Tyson, who are sending an e-mail to Max’s mom. When Hillary asks who she is, they explain that she is one of the top beyblade scientists in the world. They sent her the magnetic beyblade core information, and hope she can analyze it with her supercomputer. Hillary has a new lead. She has a magazine with an article on the head of the BBA, Mr. Dickinson. She thinks he might be a good source of information. Tyson is all, DUH, we know him already. But Kenny thinks Hillary has a good idea. He also thinks she is clever and cute, which outrages Tyson. All three leave to find Mr. Dickinson.
The scene opens on BBA headquarters, a modest 3-story building. Dr. B introduces himself to Mr. Dickinson as the trainer of a new beyblade team, Team Psykick. He declares his team is the best there is and wants to prove it with a one-on-one match against the world champion Bladebreakers. Dr. B will provide the location, Mr. Dickinson just needs to bring the Bladebreakers back together as a team. Mr. Dickinson protests that Team Psykick must prove their skill level before they can get a match. Dr. B says his team is downstairs. Cut to the BBA training center. A moderator declares that this skill level evaluation will be a one-on-one sudden death match between a member of Team Psykick and a member of the BBA trainee squad. Only if Team Psykick wins the match will they get to battle the Bladebreakers. Darryl gets ready, three other nasty-looking teammates in green uniforms standing behind him. The two bladers launch, and Mr. Dickinson is stunned by what Darryl’s blade can do.
In a nearby hallway Tyson, Kenny, and Hillary are looking for Mr. Dickinson. A flustered secretary asks if they have an appointment, but Tyson brushes her off. Hillary spots Mr. Dickinson in the training room. They enter and see Darryl’s beyblade in action. Dr. B sarcastically criticizes Mr. Dickinson’s trainees. Tyson recognizes the way Darryl’s blade is moving, and Dizzi confirms it’s another magtram blade. Dr B orders Darryl to finish it. In a repeat slow-motion sequence, Darryl slams his opponent’s blade out of the dish. It lies smoking on the floor, all the BBA personnel are stunned. Tyson whips out his shooter and prepares to battle right then. Mr. Dickinson tells Tyson to stand down, that this was a test. Team Psykick passed their evaluation, and Mr. Dickinson will keep his word and reunite the Bladebreakers. Tyson declares the Bladebreakers can’t reunite, Kai doesn’t want to be part of the team anymore. But if team Psykick wants to battle for the world title, they can all battle him. Hillary complains Tyson can’t fight a team by himself, he’ll be crushed. But suddenly Kai appears and says Tyson won’t be. Since Kai accepts the match, Mr. Dickinson agrees to contact Max and Ray. Tyson and Kenny are stoked that the Bladebreakers will be together again. Mr. Dickinson officially recognizes the world championship match between the Bladebreakers and Team Psykick. Tyson thinks that with the team reunited, nothing will stop them!
In his control room, Gideon has watched everything. He hopes the Bladebreakers have a warm reunion, because they will soon face very cold consequences.
The last scene opens with an aerial view of Tyson’s town, the river flowing through the town into the sea. In the courtyard of Tyson’s home, Kai’s beyblade is demolishing soda cans. Tyson is watching Kai from the veranda. Kenny and Hillary run up, Kenny finally received a reply from Max’s mom. The mysterious magnetic core was made of a new artificial metal alloy. However, there is a natural metal with the same properties. Tyson says they should use that natural metal to make their own magnetic beyblade cores. Then their fight will be even. Hillary comments that they are full of surprises. Tyson leaps up and begins a practice battle with Kai. They all look forward to their reunion with Max and Ray. It will be just like old times, only better!
