Chapter Five: The Holy Voyeur

            “We really need a break.” Shippo complained. The fox knew that the monkeys that attacked his den were Naraku’s, and once he found out that the three were going after him, he just had to join (against the hamster’s wishes).

            “You wanted to join us, so you have to keep up with us.” Inuyasha said, as the group kept on walking through the forest.

            “But the hamster gets to ride on you!” the fox said.

            “That’s true. How would you like to ride on me?” said Kikyo.

            “Really?! That would be great. You won’t even notice me.” Said the fox. He jumped on her head, and curled himself until he looked like one of those hats with a raccoon tail coming out of it. Inuyasha chuckled a bit, just as the hamster did.

            “What?” Kikyo said.

            “That looks funny,” the hamster said, and the two stopped laughing. They kept on walking till it was near sunset, and they reached a hill that was somewhat high. The hamster said it would be faster to go around it, but Kikyo smelled something.

            “Do you smell that?” Kikyo said. Inuyasha and Shippo raised their noses and smelled the air.

            “I smell… water. Mineral water” Inuyasha said.

            “That’s what I thought!” Kikyo said. Then she sprinted up the hill.

            “Hey Kikyo, what are you doing?” Inuyasha said. He chased after her, and the hamster held on for dear life. He kept up with her, but she disappeared into a thick of trees. When he went through it, he saw what she thought was there; there were pools of hot water.

            “We don’t have time for this…” the hamster said, knowing what Kikyo mean to do.

            “We haven’t had a proper bath since before we were brought back. I think we should at least clean up.” Kikyo said. Then she started to strip. Immediately, Inuyasha and Shippo turned away (Shippo had gotten off of her head to stretch). When she was bare, she went in, and said that it was all right for them to look (the steam and darkness covered everything). Only the hamster turned to look, and was flicked off by Inuyasha for doing so.

            “Its not right for us to be here…” Inuyasha said, blushing. He and Shippo started inching their way to the trees where they couldn’t see her. Inuyasha could hear the water stirring, and then he heard wet footsteps come their way.

            “Inuyasha, I want you to join me.” Kikyo said, and held one of his arms. Then she struggled to get him to turn him so he could look at her.

            “B-b-but I’m a g-g-guy. I c-c-cant bath w-w-with you” Inuyasha said, trying hard not to let his eyes wander from her face.

            “We used to do it all the time”

            “Not bare…”

            “Inuyasha, you have to learn to grow up.” She said impatiently. Then she started walking him to the pool. “Now, I will stay in here and keep my eyes closed and wait for you to come in.” she said, and sat inside the hot water pool with her eyes closed. Inuyasha quickly undressed and went into the pool, and sat far from her.

            “What’s wrong Inuyasha?” Kikyo said after a few minutes of silence.

            “This doesn’t feel right for some reason.” Inuyasha said.

            “I feel sorry to hear that” Kikyo said, a little hurt. “How forgetful of me!” Kikyo suddenly said, and stood up, revealing her wet body. She slowly walked to her heap of stuff and took something out of her bag. Then she walked back into the pool and sat where she was before.

            Since she had gotten up so quickly, Inuyasha was forced to see her bare body. Even though he knew it wasn’t right, he stared at her the whole time. Wow, she’s beautiful. Inuyasha thought to himself as she walked back.

            “So now its ok for you to watch me.” Kikyo said teasingly.

            “What did you get anyway?” Inuyasha asked, trying to change the subject. Kikyo held her hand out and showed it to him.

            “Its called soap.” Kikyo said.

            “What do you do with it?”

            “I’ll show you.” She said, and lathered her arm. Then she rinsed it with some water and showed it to him.

            “Wow, you are a lot whiter then I thought you were” Inuyasha said. “Can I use it?”

            “Sure” she said, and gave him another one. The two lathered themselves and rinsed off. When he could see, Inuyasha saw Kikyo and saw some lather still on her face, so he splashed some water on her.

            “Hey!” she said, and splashed him back.

            “Oh, now its on!” Inuyasha said, and the two drenched each other for some time afterwards.

            Shippo and the hamster were still in the thick of trees, guarding the two in case anyone tried to surprise them. To pass the time, they were grooming themselves, doing their version of taking a bath. When Inuyasha and Kikyo started splashing each other, they thought something was wrong, but when they heard them laughing, they knew it was all right. But the hamster still went to see. When he reached the pools, he saw the two throwing water at each, looking like children playing. At least I got them back together again. The hamster thought to itself and smiled. Then it went back to Shippo to help keep watch.

            Inuyasha and Kikyo had been in the pool some time after sunset, and Inuyasha was cleaning Kikyo’s feet with his bar of soap. Kikyo had set up some candles around the pool to give them some light, and pacify the mood. He finally had become comfortable being near Kikyo when she was nude. When he was finished her feet, he went up to her shin and then her thighs. The whole time Kikyo was outstretched, just relaxing in the pool of bubbles and warm water. While Inuyasha was working on her upper thighs, the soap suddenly slipped, and he grabbed to reach it, startling Kikyo. She suddenly sat up, exposing her upper half, partially covered with soap.

            “Sorry…” Inuyasha said, blushing wildly and looking away.

            “Its all right” Kikyo said, giggling. Then she pulled herself onto Inuyasha’s lap. They just stared at each other for some time, their faces getting closer with every second. Inuyasha found his arms going around her, and her arms went around his neck, ending with a tender kiss. Suddenly all the tension dropped and everything felt right, and he didn’t want that moment to end. After some time the kiss was broken, and they stared at each other once again.

            “I love you” Inuyasha said without thinking.

            “I know” she said. Then she sat where she was, looked up and absorbed the sky. That night was very clear, and the moon was shining brightly. She looked at Inuyasha with the corner of her eye, and saw him slowly inching towards her.

“Come over here you oaf.” she giggled. He sat next to her in one move and put his arm around her, and she cuddled up to him.

            “Its so amazing, how big the sky is. Wouldn’t it be so wonderful if we could go up there and see its beautiful sites?” Kikyo said.

            “You don’t have to go that far to find beauty” Inuyasha said, and looked at her. She looked at him and they kissed one more time. After they broke it, Kikyo showed Inuyasha the stars and what constellations were up there. She also taught him about the North Star and how he could use it to find his way during the night.

            After a while, the two just lay next to each other in the lukewarm pool, just enjoying the other’s touch. The night seemed perfect, and the moon was high in the air, illuminating everything. A slight breeze was blowing, rippling the air and distorting the moon’s reflection. The breeze blew into the trees, and caused the leaves on them to rustle. That was when Inuyasha noticed the slight reflection. He concentrated his peripheral vision on that one spot and found what he looked for.

            “I know what’s been giving me that bad feeling this whole time.” Inuyasha whispered.

            “What? Is anything wrong?” Kikyo said alarmed.

            “Someone’s watching us.”

            “What?!” she said, and sank deeper into the pool.

            “Don’t move. I’m gonna take it by surprise. He waited a little until the intruder would probably think that they didn’t notice. When he thought it was time, he yelled: “Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!” and mowed down the tree the person was on. He grabbed his underpants and chased him before he could escape. Kikyo left and wore her clothes, assisting him when she was done.

            Inuyasha closed in for the kill, but a strong wind made him fly past the intruder. When he regained his footing, he attacked again, only to be thrown past it with another wind.

            “Dammit!” Inuyasha said, and used his Iron Reaver Soul Stealer. “Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!” he yelled. He got the intruder, and went up to him before he could try and escape. He grabbed him by the collar, and had a look that said it could kill, which was fine by him at the time. Before he could do anything, Kikyo stopped him and tried to get some answers.

            “Who are you?!” she demanded.

            “I am the Amorous Monk, Miroku.” He said.

            “What were you doing up there?” Inuyasha demanded.

            “I was… I mean…” he stuttered.

            “You were watching us, weren’t you.” Inuyasha said, and unsheathed his claws. This caused Miroku to panic.

            “I was… I mean I wasn’t…” he stuttered.

            “Are you one of Naraku’s devices?” Kikyo asked.

            “No.” he said, and got his cool back. “The reason I was following you guys was because I wanted to join you on your quest to fight Naraku.” He blurted. Inuyasha eased his grip.

            “Then why didn’t you ask us when you first saw us?” Inuyasha said.

            “It didn’t feel like it was the right time…” Miroku said. The rat and fox had heard the noise and come to investigate, so when they all heard his excuse, all their sweats dropped.
