The Forgotten Journey

Chapter: Introduction

By: Sci-Fi-Raptor

Disclaimer: I don’t own Inuyasha… not yet.

A/n: this is my first Inuyasha fiction. It is set a little after the time of Kikyo and Inuyasha’s battle with each other, before Kagome came to feudal Japan.

I was created before creation.... I will exist after all things end… I am nowhere, but everywhere… yet I was created.

Why I was created, I will never know. But I have existed for lengths of time that remain unnamed. I don’t have a purpose; all I can do is pass the time by. But maybe that’s my purpose, to entertain myself… to learn… to live…

I have gone past the limits of this universe and back. I have gone into the depths of black holes; I have crossed the barriers of space and time themselves. I have seen more than even I can fathom. The depths of my loneliness remain unchallenged.

But all that changed when I found a rock near a great fireball. It was the fourth rock from it; or was. Now it’s the third rock from the great fireball. Its sister planet was consumed by the fireball shortly after my arrival. I came to the rock because I felt something new there. Sure, I have seen life. I have seen more kinds of life than there are fish in the sea. Like I have said, I have gone to many worlds, each with its own unique residents. I have made many companions among them, but I left their world when they died. It seems I will never die… all I can do is pass the time.

But this planet was different, at least its life was. Well, most of its life was the same as most other worlds, except for one kind of creature; it was the humans. These humans were no different then other creatures, they sought nourishment, they sprang forth off spring to maintain perpetual life, and they sought shelter from the elements. But they did one thing different then all other life; they thought. It was their ability to think that made them standout. They used their brains to make their lives easier, and more comfortable; they used it to control their surroundings; they used it to fight and defend themselves from each other… and demons. Demons are a type of human; at least that’s what I think. Humans and demons are almost the same, except for some differences: demons have many different sizes, shape and colors, while humans have only differences in color. Demons, like humans, seek nourishment, have offspring, and seek shelter; they are also blessed with the power of thought. Demons are naturally born with powers that they harness with their brains. Humans are naturally born with the power of thought. Demons can think, but it takes them time to harness that ability. Humans are almost the same, except it is the powers that they strive to harness. It seems that they are the two extremes of their kind… I have seen demons mate with humans, they are an interesting sight; they have full use of both their potentials. But it is rare for a half-breed to be born. Humans and demons are mutual enemies, and very few are friendly towards each other.

All the half-breeds that were born during my stay died within months of their conception; they died either their parents did not want them, or the other race did not want them. Either way, they have all died. But lately, it seems that humans and demons are getting along. I have noticed many half-breeds living past infancy and going into their adult lives. Many have become men and women of power and respect; others, with less admirable occupations.

One half-breed has taken my interest. He is known as Inuyasha, a wolf demon-human hybrid. The reason that he has taken my interest is that he has decided to forget his demon heritage, and become a full human. Since every half-breed, except for him, has decided to forget his or her human heritage, he will be the first of his kind. I actually took interest in him when he was born. I don’t know why, but I felt an affinity towards him… I’ve been watching his life, which has been interesting, and I know what he has done since day one. I have helped him once in awhile, but I generally let him fend for himself. I have even gotten to know his parents personally. But I have never shown them my true form; I appeared to be a tiny creature… I think they call them sparrows. They have told me their aspirations for their boy, and since I feel as if I’m a guardian of his, I have made arrangements for him to inherit special things his parents have left for him; one of them is the Tetsaiga (I think that’s the sword’s name). Though I must admit that it is very selfish, I have used Inuyasha as a form of entertainment… but I do take my role seriously.

He has decided to be a human because of the time he spent with one of them. She is known as Kikyo. It seems that they have fallen in love with each other. I want to see what happens to the two, but something on another world has caught my attention. It originates from the fourth planet from the sun, a red world similar to this. I will investigate it, and come back to see how the two are doing.
