Inuyasha: The Spirit Within
By: Guardian Angel
Chapter Twelve
Shippo and Rin played around the water fountain while Inuyasha and the others talked.
“Well, after we get that shard it’ll be time to go say a hello to Naraku,” Miroku said. “I can’t wait to teach him a lesson.”
“I think we all can’t wait to teach him a lesson,” Koga said.
“Naraku has the remaining shards meaning the jewel will be complete soon,” Kagome said. “It’ll be a tough battle though.”
“Feh. I’m going to go take a walk until the ceremonies are started,” Inuyasha said. “Maybe I’ll get a chance to train or something. If you need me, I’ll be in the forest nearby.” With that he left.
“Lady Kagome, I think you should follow him,” Miroku said.
Kagome nodded and ran off after Inuyasha.
Meanwhile, the man behind the counter for the hotel was somewhere people normally would avoid. He was in the bar all demons hung out in. He spotted the demon he had come to meet with and went over to him. “Excuse me, er, Lord Naraku, but I believe you are looking for a certain half demon and his comrades.”
Naraku looked up at the human before him. “And what of them. It had better be good or I will surely kill you for interrupting me.”
The man nodded nervously. “Well, you see…”
Kagome slowly followed Inuyasha into the forest as quietly as she could knowing that the smallest sound could even be heard thanks to his dog ears. Where’s he going? They were going deeper and deeper into the forest. The sun was barely visible through the branches and leaves of the trees. Inuyasha began running and Kagome did the same. As they got deeper into the forest, Kagome felt herself starting to tire. She didn’t know whether Inuyasha was doing this on purpose or if he was just doing it to get exercise though she doubted he even needed it. Finally, when Kagome thought she could take no more of this, Inuyasha had stopped. Kagome instantly noticed this and quickly hid behind a nearby tree.
Inuyasha grunted. “What do you want, Kagome?”
Kagome stood in her hiding place surprised. He had noticed her? How? She thought about this. I must’ve been breathing too hard when I was trying to catch up to him. That’s how he found out. Kagome came out from her hiding spot. “Okay. You win. You caught me.”
“You didn’t answer the question, Kagome. What do you want?” Inuyasha said.
Kagome looked at him a bit puzzled, but shook her head. “I only came because, well, Miroku had insisted that I go follow you and I decided to do exactly that.”
“Great. Now I’ve got that lecher not letting me have any privacy. Sheesh. Can’t I for once I have some time alone without you or anyone else poking in my business?!”
Kagome looked at him. Her eyes held sadness as well as hurt. “I’m sorry, Inuyasha. I’ll go now.”
Though Kagome had tried to hide her sadness and hurt in her voice, Inuyasha heard it. He quickly grabbed her wrist when she was about to leave. He turned her to face him. “Kagome, that isn’t what I meant. I don’t hate you.”
Kagome looked into his eyes and knew he was telling the truth.
Inuyasha looked into her eyes. “Kagome, I never can hate you. Weren’t you listening to me when I said I loved you and only you?” He hugged her and she did the same to him.
“I was listening to you when you said that. I was just… never mind. Forget it,” Kagome said and rested her head against Inuyasha’s chest and closed her eyes.
Inuyasha stroked her hair and rested his head on top of hers as he closed his eyes. “Kagome, I will always love you.”
“And I, you,” Kagome said.
“Get your hands off him,” a cold voice said holding a hint of jealousy.
The two quickly let each other go and looked at the one who had interrupted their moment.
“Kikyo,” Inuyasha said.
Kikyo smirked. “Yes, Inuyasha. It’s me.”
Inuyasha put Kagome behind him as Kikyo advanced on them. Kagome watched Kikyo in fear. She knew Inuyasha loved her, but this was Kikyo and though Inuyasha denied it, Kagome knew he was still in love with Kikyo and he could be taken away from any time Kikyo came. The dead priestess was one to fear, but, even though this was true, Kagome just didn’t have the heart to kill the priestess. She already felt sorry for Inuyasha and Kikyo as is. She didn’t need to feel any sorrier for them. Kagome whimpered at the thought of losing Inuyasha to Kikyo. Inuyasha heard her and reached his hand back putting her hand in his and gently squeezing it in reassurance. He wasn’t going to let Kagome lose him. He was not going to allow Kikyo to take him away from the one person he loved with all his heart. Kikyo approached the two. Jealousy was written all over her face. She walked up to Inuyasha and placed her hand on his cheek. The priestess smiled as he flinched at the feel of her cold hands.
“Inuyasha, I have and always will love you. Why do you go to her? I am much stronger than she’ll ever be,” Kikyo said.
“Kikyo, I love Kagome,” Inuyasha said.
“No, you silly boy. You love me,” Kikyo said. “You only go to her because she looks like me. Not because you love her.” She shook her head and smiled coldly as she saw Kagome look down at the ground sadly.
She’s probably right. Even though Inuyasha says he doesn’t think of me as Kikyo anymore, Kagome thought.
Inuyasha, who knew she was thinking this, turned to face her to show that wasn’t true at all. He then turned his attention back to Kikyo once Kagome had gotten the message. “Kikyo, you and I never loved each other. In order to love each other we had to trust each other. You and I never trusted each other, but Kagome and I, we do trust each other. I’m sorry, Kikyo. But you must go now.”
Kikyo looked at the two, rage visible in her eyes. “No, Inuyasha. You belong to me.” She grabbed Inuyasha’s hand and dragged him away from Kagome.
Kagome held onto Inuyasha’s hand. “Inuyasha.”
Inuyasha tried holding onto Kagome’s hand and tried to get lose of Kikyo’s grip on his hand. “Kikyo, I told you, I’m staying with Kagome.”
“No, you’re not,” Kikyo said finally getting him away from Kagome.
“Inuyasha!” Kagome cried.
Kikyo smirked at Kagome’s worried face. She will have Inuyasha rather the two liked it or not. She placed her arms around Inuyasha’s neck and rested her head on his chest.
Kagome watched in horror. She knew exactly what Kikyo was going to do. The two started going into the ground. “Inuyasha! She’s taking you with her to the Underworld! Get free of her. Inuyasha!”
Inuyasha looked around and instantly knew Kagome was right. He began trying to get free. “Kagome!”
Kikyo held on tight to Inuyasha as he struggled to get free. She would not lose Inuyasha to her reincarnation. “Come, Inuyasha. We shall go together to Hell.”
“Inuyasha!” Kagome cried as tears began to fill her eyes. She was going to lose Inuyasha if she or him didn’t think of something fast.
Inuyasha felt his strength begin to drain. “Kagome.”
“No. Inuyasha, fight it,” Kagome said tears going down her face.
Kikyo smiled. She had won what was hers to begin with.
“I’m sorry, Kagome,” Inuyasha said.
“Kikyo, get your hands off him!” Kagome cried as she aimed an arrow on her bow. “Or I’ll shoot.”
Kikyo felt her soul as well as the souls of the dead girls try to get free. She looked towards Kagome in anger. This girl is trying to take my soul away from me. I have to take Inuyasha with me to Hell faster before this girl takes my soul away.
Inuyasha felt his strength returning and looked up towards Kagome who was getting ready to shoot her arrow. “Kagome. I won’t leave her!” With that, he got free of Kikyo’s grasp and jumped up to Kagome. He hugged the young girl. She hugged him back. “I won’t leave you.”
The ground turned back to normal and Kikyo stared at the two with hate as well as sorrow visible within her eyes. “I will not lose!”
Kagome let go of Inuyasha and stood in front of him. “Kikyo, that is it. I’ve had it up to here with you. All you do is try to take Inuyasha with you to the Underworld even after you found out Naraku was the one who made you both betray each other. Well, that’s it. I won’t let you hurt anyone else. I’m taking back what was mine to start with. I’m taking my soul that you have back. Kikyo, rest in peace!”
A blue light surrounded Kikyo. The souls of the dead girls and Kagome’s soul then shot out of her body. The dead girls’ souls then went back to their original bodies. Soon, the light vanished.
There was still one soul remaining and Inuyasha stood in front of Kagome as it approached her.
Kagome placed her hand on his arm. “It’s okay, Inuyasha.” She stepped forward and the soul went back into her body. Kagome stumbled back a bit and landed into Inuyasha’s arms. She smiled at him and placed a hand over her heart. “Don’t worry. She’s happy now. Her soul is resting peacefully now.”
Inuyasha nodded and looked towards Kikyo who had turned to dirt and bones. “I hope she is resting in peace.”
Kagome turned to face Inuyasha and looked into his eyes. Inuyasha looked into hers and put his arms around her waist. Kagome put her arms around Inuyasha’s neck. Finally, the two kissed.
Miroku, who was hiding in the bushes nearby with Sango and Shippo, was covering Shippo’s eyes. His eyes widened as Kagome and Inuyasha kissed. “This is getting good.”
Sango hit him on the head. “Don’t get any ideas.”
“I want to see. Uncover my eyes, Miroku,” Shippo complained.
“Shh, don’t speak so loud or they’ll surely catch us,” Miroku said.
“It was your idea,” Sango muttered. “I only came to make sure you didn’t do anything.”
Inuyasha and Kagome stopped kissing. Inuyasha then looked towards the bushes.
“What is it?” Kagome asked.
Inuyasha growled. “Come out here, you lecherous monk. You, too, Sango and Shippo.”
Kagome looked at him puzzled then looked towards the bushes as Miroku, Sango, and Shippo came out of hiding. Kagome looked down at the ground blushing. Sango smiled.
“Told you I couldn’t get any privacy around here,” Inuyasha said.
Miroku laughed nervously.
Shippo frowned. “The only thing I saw was the whole Kikyo fight. That was it ‘cause Miroku then covered my eyes.”
“Well, let’s go. The ceremonies are going to start soon,” Sango said.
Kagome nodded.
They began walking back to the town with Inuyasha and Kagome in the lead. Kagome was carrying Shippo and Miroku and Sango were in the back.
“Sango?” Miroku asked.
“Yeah?” Sango questioned.
“Hmm, well, Kagome and Inuyasha kissed and I was thinking maybe-“
Sango hit him on the head with her boomerang. “No.”
Miroku rubbed his head and smiled.
Rin sat in the corner of her room. Kanna had gone to talk to Naraku so Kohaku was standing guard. Rin sniffed. She had lost one of her best friends. “Naraku is such a creep!” She began crying. She then heard the door open and looked up to see Kohaku enter carrying a bowel with food in it and carrying a glass with water in it. Rin looked away. “I’m not hungry.”
Kohaku walked over to her and kneeled down. “Eat it. You need your strength.”
“No,” Rin said.
Kohaku sighed. “Come on. You don’t want Sesshomaru to see you all skinny and scrawny. Do you?”
Rin looked up at him angrily. “You killed Riku. I’m not listening to you.”
Kohaku looked at her shocked. “No, I didn’t. Naraku did.”
“Did you try saving him?” Rin asked.
Riku didn’t answer.
“That’s what I thought. You didn’t,” Rin said. She whimpered and looked away. “Now he’s dead and I’ll never see him again.” She began crying. “First my family and now this. I want Sesshomeru.”
Kohaku looked at her sadly and hugged her. “I’m sorry, Rin. I should’ve tried to stop him. Hopefully, Sesshomaru will come and take you away from here.” He didn’t know why he was being so nice to this girl, but there was something very familiar about her. He didn’t know what it was though.
Rin continued crying. She knew Kohaku was only trying to help. “Riku.”
Inuyasha took the Shikon shard as the announcer presented it to him. Half the crowd cheered while the other half booed.
Kagome got fed up. She had enough of people treating Inuyasha and other half- breeds like this. She ran to the area that took you to the arena as Sango and the others looked at her puzzled. Kagome ran into the arena. Inuyasha saw her and grabbed her by the arm.
“What are you doing?” Inuyasha asked.
“I’m ending this once and for all,” Kagome said.
“Huh? Ending what?” Inuyasha asked puzzled by the determination in her voice.
“You’ll see,” Kagome said. She went into the middle of the arena and made her voice high enough so everyone could hear her. “Why do you guys treat half-breeds like this? Just ‘cause they’re half human and half demon doesn’t mean you get to treat them like this. How would you feel if you were treated like that just because you were a certain type of species? What if all humans were picked on just because they’re human? What if all demons were picked on just because they’re demons? Well? You would all be miserable. Some half-breeds are very kind, but you don’t bother to get to know them. In fact, I’ve gotten to know one and I’ve fallen in love with him.”
When the audience heard this, half of them called her a freak and all kinds of other things.
Kagome continued, “My friends are made up of demons and humans as well as half-breeds. Humans out there probably hate demons because one gave them a bad impression, but they are demons out there that are good. Demons out there probably hate humans for the same reason, but some humans are good. For example, my friends who are demons and humans are good and kind. They protect villagers from those who are evil. The only reason you all hate half-breeds is because you think they’re freaks because they’re both demon and human. But that’s not a good reason. My friends who are half-breeds are very good. Besides, half-breeds happen to be the most powerful of us all due to the fact that they have mixed blood. One I know happens to be more human than he wants to be. There’s another one I know who is very cold-hearted and due to that I’d say he’s more demon than human, but that would be an insult to demons because some are good. So, don’t call them a freak unless you know them very well. Besides, one day you might be the one being called a freak. There’s a saying ‘Treat one as you would like to be treated.’ So, if you want to be called a freak then be my guest and keep calling people that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go.” She turned to leave and gave Inuyasha a small smile before leaving.
Kagome lied down on the bed crying. They had called her a freak as well as many other things. She had never been called such things before and wasn’t use to it. Just because she loved Inuyasha didn’t give them the right to call her such things. This is one of the reasons she liked her era better. At least if they thought she was a freak and all that kind of stuff they would’ve kept it to themselves. Or would they? Must of the time if people called her such stuff she would ignore them though she would hurt on the inside. Maybe I am a freak. I mean I am the reincarnation of an ancient priestess. I know I’ve been teased before, but this is ridiculous. She got up angry with herself. “I am not going to let those jerks get to me. There were some people in that crowd who have changed thanks to me and that means I still accomplished what I was trying to do. Besides, I don’t want any more people going through what Inuyasha had to go through. I won’t let it happen.” Though, unknown to her was she hadn’t changed some of them. Instead she had changed the majority of them. And they would change even more people and then very few would have to go through what Inuyasha had gone through, but that would also come to an end as people who were changed and those who had always believed people like Inuyasha shouldn’t be treated like that would try to stop it from happening at all and there would once again be peace in Japan. She may have even changed some things in her time. Demons and half-breeds could be living there now.
There was a knock on her door.
“Be there in a minute,” Kagome said. She wiped away her tears wishing that they had sinks in this era so she could wash her face to get rid of the tearstains. She got up, went over to the door, and opened it. Standing there was the man who worked at the inn. “Can I help you?”
The man smiled evilly. “Yes. You can.” He grabbed out rope.
Kagome let out a gasp as she realized this man had an evil aura.
The man grabbed out a bag and went after Kagome.
“Inuyasha!” Kagome screamed.
Inuyasha ate his food when he realized Kagome wasn’t with him and the others. He put his bowel of rice down. “Where’s Kagome?”
“Huh? Oh. She said she was going to the inn to rest,” Miroku said.
“Rest?” Inuyasha questioned. Something felt wrong. Why would she go get some rest at this time of day? There was something very wrong about this whole thing. He got up. “Guys, something tells me we should go back to the inn.”
“Huh? Why?” Shippo asked. As much as he wanted to hang out with Kagome, he knew she needed her rest. She was, after all, human.
Miroku and Sango, on the other hand, agreed.
Koga thought about this and decided to go. His wolf instincts told him something was wrong. Very wrong.
The five started going to the inn. When they had finally arrived there and had entered it, Inuyasha let out a sigh of relief to see it just the way it had been when they had left, but Inuyasha couldn’t help but still feel something very wrong. He went over to the man behind the counter.
“Hey. Has anyone entered here since we were gone?” Inuyasha asked.
The man shook his head.
Again, Inuyasha let out a sigh of relief, but still felt something was very wrong. “Let’s go to the room.”
The others nodded. All, except Koga, didn’t know why Inuyasha was so worried.
Inuyasha and the others entered the room. Inuyasha looked around and spotted the bed Kagome had been laying down on. He went over to it and saw the pillow wet. She was crying. He then went over to the door following Kagome’s scent. There was a struggle here. Why? He then smelled another scent and followed it. It took him to a dresser. He looked down at it and saw a piece of paper. He picked it up and read it.
It said:
I have your woman, Inuyasha. I will give her back to you if you give me the Shikon shards that you have in your possession. And, as promised before, I shall also return Rin and Kohaku. But if you do not do this, I will be sure they have a very slow and painful death.
Inuyasha’s hands turned to fists. “Naraku will die. I’ll make sure of it.”
Kagome woke up to a pounding headache. She shook her head and got out of bed when she realized she was in a different room. She looked around to see the room was fit for a princess. The bed had green velvet covers while the sheets and blankets were silky white. She saw the pillows were even velvet and were green. She then turned her attention to the window that was covered by light green curtains that were made of silk. She then scanned the rest of the room to see that there were dressers that were white, a mirror with a baby pink frame hanging on the wall, and a white closet drawer. She went over to it and opened it to see many silky and velvety gowns of all colors hanging in there as well as matching shoes at the bottom. She closed it and went over to the window moving the curtains out of the way and gazed out of it. The scenery was beautiful. She could see forests, mountains, rivers, nearby villages, and things of that sort. She then looked down to see she was in a tower. She looked around and noticed she was in a castle.
She then began to wonder why she was here. She then remembered everything as her headache came back. She was in her hotel room crying because the villagers had called her a freak as well as many other things. Then there had been a knock on the door and she had gone to open it to find the man who worked behind the counter. She had asked him what he wanted and he had grabbed out rope. She then realized that the man was going to capture her. The man then had grabbed out a bag to put her in obviously. She had screamed out for Inuyasha to help her. But he hadn’t come so she had fought back hoping Inuyasha would come and save her at any minute, but he hadn’t shown up. So, she continued fighting until the man had cornered her. Then he had punched her and kicked her trying to make her pass out, but had failed. Kagome fought back with all her strength until she tripped and the man had taken that as his opportunity and tied her legs together. She had turned around immediately and grabbed at what ever was nearby so she could use it as a weapon to get free from the man. That weapon had fortunately or unfortunately been a vase full of flowers and water, but she had hit the man with it in the face nonetheless. This had angered the man greatly and he had punched her at the side of her head and after that was lost in darkness.
Kagome rubbed the side of her head. Well, that explains the headache. She let out a sigh. “But who could’ve captured me? And why are they giving me such a nice room?” She growled in frustration. “Great. Here I am in a castle being kidnapped once again! Why does everyone kidnap me?! I’m as strong as Inuyasha and the others.” Okay. Not really. “But still. It’s not fair!” She kicked at the bed, but soon regretted it as it had made her foot hurt adding to the pain of her headache. “I hate this! I hate it! I hate it! I hate it!” She then spotted the door and went over to it. Maybe it’s open and then I can make my escape. She turned the doorknob to find it was locked. This upset her again and she started walking back in forth complaining that it wasn’t fair she always got kidnapped and the others didn’t aside from including Kohaku and Rin because she had been kidnapped more than they had. “Why couldn’t I’ve been smart and stay with Inuyasha?” She then whimpered as soon as she said Inuyasha’s name. She then lied back down on the bed and laid her head on a pillow. “Inuyasha.” She then began sobbing. What if I never see him again? What if he doesn’t come to rescue me? She shook her head. “He will save me. I know he will. Besides, he said he loved me and I believe him.” She wiped her tears away and sat up. “I have faith in you, Inuyasha.”
Rin, who had stopped crying a couple of hours ago, got up and went over to the door of her cell. Kanna was standing guard again. “Kanna?”
“Yeah?” Kanna asked trying to not sound concerned or interested in what Rin was going to say. When she had gone to talk with Naraku, he had told her to remain emotionless all the time. She was not to show her emotions at all. Not ever since the whole Riku thing happened anyway. She had been born to represent nothingness and nothing more. Which meant she was to be void of all emotion. Not even towards Naraku or Kagura was she even to do this, though, now, she hadn’t minded that. Not after what she saw Naraku do to his own son was she going to show her love to him. She wasn’t even sure if she loved her dad anymore. He had been so cold-hearted towards her brother. He had killed slowly and painfully. He had killed someone of the same flesh and blood. Sure Riku hadn’t exactly gained the evil side in his genes, but that didn’t mean he deserved to die. And as for Kagura, she barely knew the girl and she had always, for some reason, always acted all disgusted when she was around. It was obvious that Kagura clearly hated her. Why? She never knew.
“Um, do you think Riku will rest peacefully?” Rin asked interrupting Kanna’s thoughts.
Kanna winced at her brother’s name, but tried to not show it. “Rin, I really have no idea if he’s resting in peace or not, but I don’t thing he ever will as long as Da-I mean Naraku is around.” She sighed. Hiding her emotions was harder than she thought.
“Kanna, are you going to let me get away when Sesshomeru and Inuyasha and their friends come for Kohaku and me?” Rin asked.
Kanna thought about this. She would release the girl since she was her friend, but there was Naraku who would surely kill her if she did. But Riku had died trying to save Rin from Naraku in the first place. She didn’t want to die, but she didn’t want anything bad happening to Rin either. Finally she came to an answer. She could answer the question anyway without Naraku hearing because he could only do that if he had her mirror, which he didn’t, or if he was right there, which, she was thankful for, he wasn’t. “Yes, Rin. I will let you, as well as Kohaku, get away. Though, it’ll be hard with Naraku around and with Kohaku being under his control.” When she had said Naraku’s name she had been sure she had said it with complete bitterness, hate, and coldness.
“I don’t think Kohaku’s under his control anymore,” Rin said.
Kanna looked at Rin puzzled. “What do you mean?”
“Well, I was crying over Riku’s death and he had come in to comfort me, but I yelled at him saying he hadn’t even tried saving Riku. Kohaku then started comforting me saying he was sorry he hadn’t tried to save Riku and that Sesshomaru would hopefully come soon. This time I accepted his comfort knowing he was only trying to help,” Rin said.
Kanna thought about this. “Well, that maybe true. Maybe I should use my mirror just to be safe though.”
“No! Don’t!” Rin cried as she saw Kanna’s mirror begin to glow.
Kanna raised an eyebrow and looked at Rin confused. “Rin?”
“No more. Don’t use your powers,” Rin said. She looked down at the ground. “Please?”
“Why not?” Kanna asked.
“Because, because, they’re the reason Naraku was able to capture me and Kohaku and-“ Rin began crying. “And why Riku is dead and why Inuyasha, Sesshomeru, and all my other friends have been attacked and wounded and I don’t want anyone else getting hurt because of it!” She began sobbing even more and louder.
Kanna watched the girl with shock and sorrow. She opened the cell’s door and entered the cell. She then kneeled down beside Rin. “Okay. I won’t use my powers as long as you quit crying. Got that?”
Rin wiped her tears away and slowly nodded.
“Good,” Kanna said and smiled.
Kohaku stared out the window of his room. His room was similar to Kagome’s except it wasn’t as fancy. He sighed. He still couldn’t figure out why he had been nice to Rin. The only reason he could come up with was that she seemed strangely familiar, but that was all he got. He shrugged and decided not to bother thinking about it. He sat on his bed. “What’s the use if it’s not that important?” But he continued thinking about why she seemed so familiar.
Kagome got up off the bed when she heard a knock on the door. “Come in.” She had no idea why she had said that figuring even if she hadn’t said that the person would’ve entered anyway. The door opened and standing there was Kagura, which answered Kagome’s question who had captured her. But now she was even more confused. Why would Naraku give her such great hospitality? Instead she asked, “What do you want?”
Kagura just smiled at her with her ice-cold eyes. “I’m just sending a message from Naraku. He says to get changed into one of the gowns in the closet for dinner, which is in a couple of minutes. I’ll come back to get you when it’s time.” And, with one last cold smile she left, closing the door and locking it.
Kagome frowned. Why she hadn’t tried to stop Kagura was beyond her. She sighed and went over to the closet to pick out a gown to wear.
Inuyasha growled at the man behind the counter. “I know you helped in kidnapping Kagome. Her scent is all over you.”
“No, I didn’t,” the man lied.
“Yes, you did. I know Kagome’s scent,” Inuyasha said showing his fangs. “Tell me where Naraku is and I’ll let you live.”
The man shuddered. He didn’t want to die. He had promised Naraku he wouldn’t tell Inuyasha and his friends about where Naraku had lived and if he did, Naraku had told him he would come and kill him. But if he didn’t tell him, he would die. The man didn’t know which was worse, being killed by Naraku or being killed by Inuyasha. He sighed. “I’ll tell you.”
Kagome was done getting dressed. She wore a silky white gown with gold trimming at the edges. It reached her feet. She decided to wear this because she liked it the best and the other ones were a bit revealing. She looked down at her shoes. They were the same color as her dress and had high heels. She wondered if they even had high heels in Feudal Japan or not. But shrugged it off. If Naraku had them then Feudal Japan must have them. She then heard a knock on the door. She sighed. Why in the world Naraku wanted to have dinner was beyond her. She was even more surprised when she had accepted his invitation. “Come in.”
Kagura opened the door. “Come. Naraku will now see you.”
Kagome nodded and followed Kagura as she led her to the dining room. As soon as they reached it, Kagome could only stare in awe. The room looked like it was fit for royalty. It had a huge chandelier with candles lit, a long table with candles lit on there as well as plates of food and lots of it at that, there were several chairs, it just had everything the people of royalty had in their dining rooms. She never thought someone such as Naraku could have this type of stuff. She quickly shook her head and remembered she was in the home of her enemy. Sure enough, Naraku was sitting there waiting for her smiling. He wasn’t wearing his baboon pelt.
Naraku got up. “Ahh, welcome, Kagome.”
Kagome eyed him suspiciously. He was definitely up to something. What it was, she did not know and wasn’t even sure she wanted to find out. “Hi,” she muttered somewhat reluctantly.
Meanwhile, Inuyasha threw the man down in disgust and turned towards the exit. “Come on, guys. We have a certain baboon to kill as well as to save Kagome, Rin, and Kohaku.”
Sango and the others nodded in agreement and they all were soon off to Naraku’s castle.
