Inuyasha: The Spirit Within
By: Guardian Angel
Chapter Eleven
For the next couple of days, Kagome was silent and was staying in the hotel room. Inuyasha continued winning his fights, but seemed to be losing his edge. Leon thought this was odd, but the others thought otherwise. They thought Kagome and Inuyasha had gotten into some kind of argument. Rin continued visiting Riku. She sometimes had to sneak out when everyone was asleep. One night, she had been caught by Kagome, but Kagome had promised not to tell.
Kagome stared out the window. It was raining. She let out a sigh. She remembered all the times she was with Inuyasha and they were all alone and when they weren’t and they argued over pointless stuff. Inuyasha, why did you break up with me? What happened to make you do that?
Sango, who was watching Kagome and hiding behind the door, frowned. She then felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around to see Miroku. “Huh? What do you want?”
“I want to know why you’re spying on Kagome,” Miroku said.
“Spying? Now, why would I be doing that?” Sango asked. “Okay. You caught me. It’s just, she’s been like this for at least two weeks, and I’m beginning to get very worried about her. She even hasn’t spoken for those two weeks. I want to know what Inuyasha did to her.”
“She’s not the only one acting odd. Inuyasha is, too,” Miroku said. “Something definitely happened back in Kagome’s world. I do wonder what.”
Inuyasha got up and charged at his opponent, Boutensei. Boutensei jumped over him and threw his ninja stars. Inuyasha tried dodging them, but got hit by two. One on his shoulder and the other on his arm. Inuyasha took them off him. He then charged at Boutensei. Boutensei frowned and jumped over Inuyasha. He then grabbed out his sword and slashed at Inuyasha. It cut Inuyasha on his other arm. Inuyasha put his hand on his cut and then used his flying blade blood claws. Boutensei dodged them.
“Half breed, I’m disappointed in you,” Boutensei said. “I heard you were much stronger than this. All you’re proving to me is that you’re weak.”
“Oh, am I? Well, just ta let ya know, I was holding back until now!” Inuyasha charged at him and grabbed out Tessaiga.
Boutensei smiled and jumped up. “Yes, that’s it. Let all your anger out.” So that way you’ll be blinded by nothing, but anger.
Inuyasha jumped up and slashed at Boutensei. When the two landed on the ground, Boutensei fell down on his face.
“Looks like I may have underestimated you,” Boutensei said and passed out.
Inuyasha got up and sheathed the sword. He then fell to his knees. He felt warm liquid go down his leg.
“Inuyasha’s injured,” Shippo said. He and the others, except Rin and, of course, Miroku and Sango, were watching Inuyasha battle.
“Hmm, yes, it appears that is quite true from what I can see,” Leon said.
Rin knocked on the door.
“Who’s there?” a voice asked.
“It’s Rin,” she said.
“Oh, be there in a sec,” the voice said. After a couple of minutes, the door opened. Standing there was Riku. “Hey.” He closed the door behind him after leaving the room. “So, what do you want?”
“I want to know what Naraku did to Kagome and Inuyasha,” Rin said.
“What do you mean?” Riku asked.
“Well, ever since Kagome and Inuyasha came back from Kagome’s world, the two have been acting odd lately. All Kagome does is sigh and look out the window. She’s only spoken once so far and that was to me when she had caught me sneaking off. Inuyasha had been trying to act normal, but you can tell something happened to him, too, because in his matches he seems to slipping in them. Something happened back there and I’m determined to find out what.”
“Well, I don’t know what happened. So, don’t look to me for answers.”
“Maybe I should show you what I mean.”
“Huh?”
Kagome got up. “That’s it. I gotta quit moping around like this. It’s getting me nowhere. I’m going to go to Inuyasha and ask him why he broke up with me. Besides, we had just gotten together so, I see no reason why he would do that unless…” She then remembered how Inuyasha had looked whenever he thought about Kikyo. “Maybe he doesn’t want me to end up like Kikyo or maybe he’s afraid of his feelings getting hurt. But he hurt me. Deeply. Inuyasha, you jerk. All you think about is yourself and no one else. You didn’t even stop to think about my feelings. Oh, I can’t believe you. You are so inconsiderate.”
There was a knock on the door.
“Huh? Oh, uh, come in,” Kagome said.
Sango and Miroku entered the room.
“Kagome, listen, you are going to tell us everything,” Sango said.
“Yes, it would be best to tell us that way we can know why you and Inuyasha are acting so strangely lately,” Miroku said.
Kagome looked away. “It’s not that important. Don’t worry about it.”
Koga went over to Inuyasha who was sitting down and recovering from his wounds.
“Tell me, Inuyasha. What happened in Kagome’s world?” Koga said.
“None of your business,” Inuyasha said.
“I think it is,” Koga said. “Whatever happened there is affecting the way you battle. You’re losing your edge. I’m surprised you haven’t lost yet. If you keep fighting like this you will lose. You know as well as I do, that you can’t afford to do that or we won’t win that Shikon shard. Fess up, Inuyasha.”
“Look, I said it was none of you business, so stay out of it!” Inuyasha said.
“Kagome, please tell us,” Sango said. “It makes us all feel depressed when we see you like this.”
“It actually does,” Miroku said.
Kagome looked up at them. “Guys, I’m sorry, but…Oh, its just-I can’t explain it. Not without crying anyway. You see…”
“Hmm, looks like my plan worked better than I had hoped for,” Naraku said.
“Yeah, I guess so,” Kanna said.
“If it did this much damage, just wait until my plan to turn them against each other happens,” Naraku said.
“Can I kidnap that little girl that travels with Sesshomaru?” Kagura asked. “Then we won’t have to worry about that brat blurting out where we’re hiding.”
“You may once she is no longer with Riku,” Naraku said. “Did you recapture Kohaku?”
“Yes,” Kagura said.
“Oh. So, he just broke up with you with no explanation why?” Sango said.
Kagome nodded. Tears were going down her face. “That’s exactly what had happened. He just said that and ran off.”
“What happened before that?” Miroku asked.
“Well, we had just battled a big spider,” Kagome said. “It tried killing us, but seemed to want to capture me. It said it was going to bring me to Naraku. After Inuyasha had killed it, we helped Hojo clean up. Then when we walking to my house, he just said it and ran off.”
“Hmm, so the spider was going to kidnap you and bring you to Naraku, eh,” Miroku said. “What would he want with you?”
“I don’t know,” Kagome said. Wait! Maybe I do. Is it possible he found out about Inuyasha and me? He was planning on using me against Inuyasha. Just like he did with Kikyo. He knew if he had me Inuyasha would be worried about me. Maybe he was some how planning on us to turn against each other. He knew I had the Shikon shards and it would be tainted if we were turned against each other. Inuyasha had guessed that and had broken up with me not wanting me to meet that same fate and that way he wouldn’t have to go through it again. Inuyasha was worried about me! Oh, Naraku, that creep! “Sango, Miroku, I think I’ve figured out why Inuyasha had broken up with me.”
“Huh? Really?” Sango and Miroku asked in unison.
“Rin, she doesn’t look all depressed,” Riku said.
“She was,” Rin said.
Inuyasha crossed his arms. It’s best now that her and me aren’t together anymore. I don’t want her to get hurt or anymore involved in this than she already is. “Koga, if you want to know what happened so much, why don’t you ask ‘you’re woman?’”
“My woman?” Koga asked blankly. He then gasped. “You broke up with her?! You idiot! You’re not suppose to do that.”
“Oh, and why not?!” Inuyasha demanded.
“Because now Kagome will think you hate her,” Koga said.
“She’ll think I hate her?” Inuyasha asked. “But I don’t. Doesn’t she know that? Why would I hate her?”
“I dunno. I’m not a woman and that means I can’t tell you why they think such things when their boyfriend breaks up with them,” Koga said.
I have to get to Kagome and tell her just because I broke up with her doesn’t mean I hate her, Inuyasha thought. “Take me to her.”
“Hmm, the reincarnation doesn’t look depressed anymore,” Naraku said. “Why is that?”
“I don’t know,” Kagura said. “Don’t ask me.”
“Inuyasha doesn’t seem out of it anymore,” Kanna said.
Hmm, Inuyasha, what do you and your woman have planned? Naraku thought. “Kagura, go kidnap Rin. Kanna, have our special weapon ready to fight.”
“What? So soon?” Kanna asked.
“Yes,” Naraku said. “And tell Kikyo to get ready.”
Kanna frowned. “As you wish.” Should I warn Riku?
“Well, I have to get back to the others before they start getting worried,” Rin said. “Especially Sesshomeru and Kagome. Mainly Kagome because I told her where I go.”
“You what?!” Riku asked. “You promised to keep it a secret.”
“Yeah, but Kagome had caught me sneaking off one night,” Rin said. “So, I told her everything and she promised to not tell anyone. I know she won’t break it.”
Riku let out a sigh. “Well, I had better get going then. I’ll see ya later.”
“Okay. Bye,” Rin said.
Riku left.
“Hello. Riku maybe going soft, but I can assure you that I’m not,” a voice said.
Rin turned around to see Kagura. She screamed.
Inuyasha ran into the room Kagome was in. Koga was right behind him.
“Kagome, it’s not what you think. I could never hate you,” Inuyasha said. “Why else would I tell you-“
“Inuyasha, calm down,” Kagome said. “Of course you don’t hate me. I know that, so what are you talking about?”
Inuyasha looked towards Koga angrily.
“My mistake,” Koga said.
“Um, whatever. Anyway, I just figured out why you broke up with me,” Kagome said.
“You did?” Inuyasha asked.
“Yeah,” Kagome said. “And I should make you you-know-what, but I’m not going to. You should’ve told me. Then I wouldn’t have had to feel so bad. I thought you had broken up with me because you didn’t want me to end up like Kikyo or you were afraid of your feelings getting hurt. But that wasn’t why. You had broken up with me because you had figured out Naraku’s plan to capture me and make you worried. Then when you came he would have you and me betray each other some how so the Shikon shards that are in my possession would be tainted with evil. You knew this was going to happen and didn’t want me to have the same fate as Kikyo and you didn’t want to go through that whole scenario again, so you decided it was best you and I break up. I’m just sad that you hadn’t told me so.”
“Give me a break,” Inuyasha said. “I told you I wasn’t going to let that happen and I meant it. I won’t lose you and you won’t lose me. We promised each other that, remember?” He took her hands and put them in his. “Kagome, you’re right. I did break up with you because of that, but now I realize that I’m nothing without you.”
“I think we should leave,” Miroku whispered to Sango.
Sango nodded. She and Miroku left. Koga joined them
“Kagome, I’m sorry that I’ve hurt you,” Inuyasha said. “I hadn’t meant to.”
“Inuyasha…” Kagome was unsure what to say. “I guess I’ve realized that without you I would never have gotten much braver and I wouldn’t know much about the Shikon Jewel and many other things. I wouldn’t have learned and grown much if it wasn’t for you.”
“And I wouldn’t have become stronger, quicker, and, well, I guess nicer if it weren’t for you,” Inuyasha said. “Kagome, please forgive me.”
“Huh? Of course I forgive you,” Kagome said. “But we shouldn’t be together until we have put an end to Naraku once and for all.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” Inuyasha said.
“You guess?” Kagome asked.
“What? It’s not like you’re always right,” Inuyasha said.
“Are you saying I’m always wrong?!”
“No. I’m saying you’re not always right.”
“So, I am wrong all the time?!”
“No. Will you quit being stubborn and listen to me for once.”
“Stubborn?! I am not stubborn!”
“You are, too!”
“Inuyasha, sit!”
“Looks like things are back to normal,” Miroku said.
Sango let out a sigh and smiled. “Yep. It appears that way.”
“Yes, it does,” Miroku said.
Sango felt a hand on her butt. She turned around angrily. “I know I said I liked you, but that doesn’t mean you get to touch me there whenever you want,” she said and hit Miroku on the head with her boomerang.
Miroku rubbed his head. “Ow.”
Koga shook his head. “They’re right. Everything is back to normal.”
“Jaken, go find Rin,” Sesshomaru said.
“Find her? Why?” Jaken asked. “I no longer see a reason to even keep that human around.”
“Jaken,” Sesshomaru said.
“Yes, my lord,” Jaken said. He left.
“I’m going to go with him,” Shippo said.
Riku entered his room and let out a sigh. “You guys can come out of hiding now.” He went over to the bed and sat down.
The closet door opened. Kanna, Naraku, Kikyo, Kohaku, and Kagura, who was holding Rin, came out of it.
Riku spotted Rin and got up. “What do you guys want with her?! I thought you said you were going to leave her out of all this.”
“How can we, when she is friends with our enemies?” Kagura asked.
“Besides, you forget, I don’t keep my promises,” Naraku said.
Rin bit Kagura’s hand. “Riku, get out of here and get Sesshomeru and the others.”
Kagura hit Rin in the stomach making her pass out. “Shut up, brat.”
“No, Rin. I won’t leave you behind with these creeps,” Riku said. He unsheathed his sword and charged at Naraku. “I’m sorry, Father, but I have no choice.”
“Heh, heh, how sweet. You’d kill your own father just to save a human,” Naraku said. “Kagura, give me Rin and rid me of this traitor.”
Kagura handed Naraku Rin and grabbed out her fans. “Now, Riku, you will die.” She used her dance of the wind blades.
“Riku!” Kanna cried.
Riku dodged the attack and looked towards Kanna. She called out my name. Does that mean she does care for me?
Naraku looked towards Kanna angrily. “Why do you worry for that traitor?”
“Huh? Oh, um, sorry. It’ll never happen again. I promise,” Kanna said.
Kagura used her dance of the wind blades again.
“Where do you think Rin went to?” Shippo asked.
“Who cares,” Jaken said. I, for one, don’t. But I have no choice in the matter because Lord Sesshomaru is making me look for that stinking human.
“Maybe she went to see that Ryouken guy, so she can see if he really is Riku,” Shippo said.
“Fine. We’ll go check out his place,” Jaken said.
Kagome went over to the door and spotted Miroku, Sango, and Koga behind it. “You guys really need to find better hiding spots if you’re going to spy on us.”
Inuyasha spotted them, too, and went over to them. “Don’t you know about privacy? Never mind. Miroku doesn’t, but Sango and Koga should.”
“What do you mean I don’t know about privacy?” Miroku asked.
“Well, you watch girls when they’re taking a bath,” Inuyasha said. “And if you get caught, you either get slapped or you get hit by Sango’s boomerang.”
“You don’t understand. You see, I don’t spy. I merely am just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
“Sure,” Sango and Kagome said.
Riku dodged Kagura’s attack again. Kagura threw her fans. One of them hit Riku in the shoulder. Riku jumped over Kagura and slashed at her. He cut her shoulder. Kagura turned around angrily and used her dance of the dragon snakes. Riku tried dodging the tornadoes, but was caught by one. Kagura laughed evilly. Riku looked towards her angrily.
Rin is counting on me. I can’t lose this fight, Riku thought.
There was a knock on the door. Kagura stopped her attack. Riku fell to the ground. Kagura looked towards Naraku.
“Kanna, wake up the girl and have her get the door,” Naraku said.
“It’s best I don’t,” Kanna said. “It’s Shippo and Jaken.”
“Well, in that case, open the door and show them Rin as well as Kohaku and tell them to tell Inuyasha and the others that I will return Kohaku and Rin to them if they give me their shards. Oh, and tell Inuyasha I have Kikyo with me, too. And she’s been waiting for him.”
Kanna obeyed and did just that. She and the others then disappeared taking Riku with them.
“This just great,” Jaken moaned. “Now Lord Sesshomaru will surely have my head.”
“You think that’s bad, just wait until I tell Sango that Naraku has her brother and I tell Inuyasha he also has Kikyo. And what about Kagome? Inuyasha might say something that will hurt her after I’ve told him about Kikyo,” Shippo said.
“We are so dead,” Jaken said.
“No. We’re dead and buried,” Shippo said.
“He what?!” Inuyasha asked.
“I said he has Kikyo, Kohaku-“
“I know what you said,” Inuyasha said. So, Kikyo is still with him. And she’s waiting for me?
“That murderer has Kohaku?!” Sango asked outraged. “I’m going to kill him once I find out where he’s hiding.”
“He took Rin,” Sesshomaru said.
“Inuyasha, what do you think we should do?” Miroku asked.
“If we leave the tournament now, you’ll be disqualified,” Koga said. “If that happens, you won’t be able to win the Shikon shard.”
“Kikyo is more important than those shards,” Inuyasha said. His fist clenched. “Naraku, you will die.”
Inuyasha still loves Kikyo, Kagome thought. Of course he does. She was his first love after all. He can’t just forget about her and go off to me. It was a good idea that we break up. It’s best for the both of us.
“Inuyasha, think this through correctly,” Miroku said.
“What’s there to think about?” Inuyasha asked. “We’re going to go there and kill him once and for all.”
“Inuyasha, he’ll use them against us,” Kagome said. “He might say something like he’ll kill Kohaku or Rin if we take one more step.”
“Listen to Kagome, Inuyasha,” Sesshomaru said.
“I guess you’re right,” Inuyasha said.
What would he do if it were me who had been captured by Naraku? Kagome thought. It’s really close to being one year since we met. She had flash backs of when they first met. When they had first met Miroku, Shippo, Sango, and Koga. When the two had always fought and Kagome had sat Inuyasha. When Inuyasha protected her. When they had made their promises to each other at the carnival. When Sesshomaru had joined them. When Inuyasha had come to save her when she was in the dream world. When the two had admitted their feelings to one another. When Inuyasha would hit Shippo and Kagome would have to sit him. When she first sat Inuyasha. When she first saw Inuyasha turn to a human. When Inuyasha had told her she smelled nice. When Inuyasha got jealous. She remembered everything she and the others had gone through together. He would try to save me no matter what. I just hope he wouldn’t give up the shards in exchange for me.
Naraku has Kohaku again. I have to save Kohaku, but how? Sango thought. I can’t give him the shards. What am I to do?
Rin maybe captured by Naraku, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try to save her and her and get rid of Naraku once and for all, Sesshomaru thought.
Rin woke up. She found she was in a bed. She got up to find herself in a dungeon. She then remembered everything that had happened. “Oh, no. Riku!” She ran over to the bars to see Kanna was the one who had to stand guard. “Kanna, where’s Riku?”
Kanna looked away, but Rin spotted tears going down her face.
Rin gasped. “Don-don’t tell me he-he’s dead.”
“Sorry, Rin, but he is,” Kanna said. “Kagura was holding him while Naraku killed him.”
Rin fell to her knees. “So, then he’s gone. My friend is gone.” She started crying. “This isn’t fair.”
“Okay. Here’s the deal,” Inuyasha said. “First we finish this tournament then we go after Naraku.”
The others nodded.
“Very well then,” Miroku said.
“Let’s go get ready to leave,” Sango said.
“I’m going out for a walk,” Kagome said. “I’ll meet you guys later.”
“Huh? Why?” Inuyasha asked.
The announcer came into the room. “Your final match is against Himensa.”
“Final match, eh,” Inuyasha said. “Guess we’ll be leaving sooner than expected.”
Inuyasha entered the arena. Sango and the others took their seats. Himensa then entered the arena.
“You ready to die, half breed?” Himensa asked.
“Heh, last I checked you were the one who was going to lose,” Inuyasha said unsheathing Tessaiga.
Himensa unsheathed his sword, too. “We’ll see who loses.”
The two began charging at each other.
Kagome took a seat by the water fountain. Inuyasha, I wish you would make up your mind on who you love. You can’t have both Kikyo and me. You’ll have to pick sometime. She looked up at the sky. Inuyasha.
Inuyasha jumped over Himensa and slashed at him. Himensa dodged the attack and swung his sword with amazing speed and accuracy. It hit Inuyasha in the shoulder. Inuyasha looked at Himensa in disbelief.
How could he have done that? Inuyasha thought. Looks like this match is going to be a lot longer than I had expected. “Is that the best you can do?” He started charging at Himensa. “‘Cause you’ll have to do better than that.” He jumped up and got ready to swing his sword.
Himensa also jumped up and got ready to swing his sword. The two swung them. They then landed on the ground and quickly turned around to see if the other had fallen. They both were mad and disappointed that their opponent hadn’t fallen. They then began charging at each other.
“Hmm, I wonder, how is that demon able to still be moving after Inuyasha’s attack,” Miroku said.
“Do you think he has a Shikon shard?” Sango asked.
“I am not sure,” Miroku said. “We need Lady Kagome.”
Kagome got up to leave, but stopped when she felt someone grab her hand. She turned around to see the half-breed boy she had seen earlier. “Can I help you?”
“Yeah,” the boy said. “When you were talking to those mean kids, did you really mean any of that stuff?”
“Of course,” Kagome said.
“You remind me of my mom,” the boy said.
“Huh? Your mom?” Kagome asked.
“Yeah. She was also a human and was very kind. She didn’t agree that half-breeds weren’t allowed to play with humans and demons. She believed half-breeds had every right to play with them. Not many people listened to her. That is until she came. The priestess. Mom found out that the priestess was in love with a half-breed and that was why she was helping Mom. They worked together to make half-breeds, humans, and demons equal. That is until the priestess was killed by the one she loved. Mom immediately gave up,” the boy said.
Priestess in love with a half-breed? Killed by the one she loved? “Tell me, how did this priestess look?” Kagome asked.
“Well, come to think of it. She looked just like you,” the boy said.
I knew it. It was Kikyo. Wait! All that was fifty years ago. “How old are you?” Kagome asked.
“Fifty-eight,” the boy said. “I don’t know why I haven’t aged.”
“What’s your name?” Kagome asked.
“Oh. My names Kanryou,” the boy said.
“Well, Kanryou, one day your mother’s dream will come true and part of it will be because of you,” Kagome said. “I know next time I’m in town, we’ll meet each other at this exact spot and you can meet all my friends who don’t care if you’re a half breed or not. Some of them are demons, some are humans, and one happens to be a half breed.”
“The white haired one with dog ears, right?” the boy asked.
“Uh, yeah,” Kagome said. She sighed. “You know that priestess that helped you r mother. Well, I’m her reincarnation. That’s why I look like her.”
“Oh. Well, that explains why your friends are not only humans, but also demons and half-breeds. It also explains why you’re in love with a half breed,” the boy said.
Kagome blushed. “How did you know about that?”
“I am half demon and the demon side of me happens to have very good hearing,” the boy said.
Kagome smiled. “Well, I have to get back to my friends. See ya later.”
The boy hugged her. “Bye.”
Kagome hugged the boy back. The two then let each other go. “You remind me of my little brother, Sota.”
“Really?” the boy asked.
“Really,” Kagome said. They said their good byes and went their separate ways until their paths one day would soon cross.
Inuyasha jumped up. Himensa did, too. Inuyasha smiled and did a back flip. Himensa crashed into the ground. Inuyasha ran over to him and got ready to go in for the kill. Himensa quickly got up and jumped over Inuyasha. Inuyasha turned around and saw Himensa charging at him.
“Will they quit jumping already,” Shippo said. “Tell that vicious thing to lose already.”
“Hmm, I don’t think that demon is suppose to be able to jump around like that,” Miroku said.
“It’s not,” Sango said. “Those type were made only for ground combat and not flying or jumping in this case.”
“So, then there must be a Shikon shard in his possession,” Miroku said.
“Inuyasha, he has a shard of the Shikon Jewel!” Shippo cried.
“Where?” Inuyasha asked.
“How am I suppose to know? I’m not Kagome,” Shippo said.
“You’re no help at all,” Inuyasha muttered.
“What was that?!” Shippo demanded.
“How am I suppose to get it if I don’t know where it is?!” Inuyasha demanded.
“Don’t ask me,” Shippo said.
Inuyasha frowned. “I guess I’ll just have to guess where it is.” He started charging at Himensa.
“Hey! I’m finally back,” Kagome said running towards Sango and the others.
“Good,” Miroku said. “Do you think Inuyasha’s opponent possesses any shards?”
“Huh?” Kagome asked. She looked towards Himensa. “He has five. One in both of his arms and two in his left leg and one in his right.” She told this to Inuyasha.
“Well, that explains everything,” Inuyasha said. “So, tell me, did the one who gave you those shards happen to be Naraku?”
“Well, half breed, looks like you do have a brain,” Himensa said. “Yes. As a matter of fact, Naraku did give me these shards. He told me to win this tournament and kill a half-breed named Inuyasha. He said he would let me keep a piece of the Shikon Jewel if I did this.”
“You idiot. Don’t you realize he’s lying to you?” Inuyasha said.
“Shut up and fight,” Himensa said.
The two charged at each other. They then jumped up. Himensa got ready to swing his sword. Inuyasha smiled and jumped onto Himensa’s sword. He then jumped off it and did a flip landing behind Heminsa. Inuyasha then took all the shards. As Heminsa turned around, Inuyasha immediately knocked him out.
He did it! He won the tournament! Kagome thought. She smiled. “Inuyasha, you did it!”
Inuyasha threw the shards at her. She caught them. “Remember to keep those safe.”
“Don’t worry. I will,” Kagome said.
The announcer went onto the platform. He went over to Inuyasha and put his hand up to silence the crowd. “Well, it looks like our champion is none other than the half breed, Inuyasha.” The crowd cheered, though, must of them booed and said half-breeds shouldn’t be allowed to enter tournaments of any kind and only actual humans and demons should.
Kagome looked down at Inuyasha sadly. Inuyasha had his arms crossed and was looking away from the audience. Poor Inuyasha. He always had to go through this when he was little. He shouldn’t have to go through it anymore. These people are such jerks! I will put an end to this prejudice one day. And when I do, people like Inuyasha won’t have to go through this. I only which someone had put an end to it a long time ago.
The announcer then lowered his voice so only Inuyasha could here him. “You will come and take your prize in a couple of hours after we have set everything up for the second and third prize winners. Until then, do whatever you please.”
Inuyasha and the others left the tent.
