Inuyasha: The Prophecies

Chapter Twenty-five

                        Inuyasha landed in front of Sesshomaru’s house and let Kagome down. Kagome looked to him worriedly and he nodded then the two entered the house. Kagome spotted Destiny and went over to her, kneeling down beside her and opening the first kit, grabbing out everything she’d need.

                        Inukai got up and left everything up to the girls. “Come on, guys. Let’s go talk in the kitchen.”

                        All the guys nodded, knowing what Inukai meant and did just that.

                        Inukai leaned against a wall and crossed his arms while he stared at the ground in a dull fashion.

                        Inuyasha, Reiji, and Sesshomaru all sat down. Inuyasha had his arms crossed and was looking out the window. Sesshomaru was looking off towards the distance. Reiji stared up at the ceiling and let out a breath.

                        “Man. This is soooo boring. Don’t we have something else to do that’s not quiet?” Reiji said, putting his hands behind his head.

                        Inukai frowned as he looked towards Reiji. “And what do ya expect us to do that doesn’t require us to worry about my mate?”

                        Reiji raised an eyebrow, but didn’t make any comment on what Inukai had said. He shrugged as his hands fell to his side. “I want you all to act how you normally act, because Destiny will be fine. I’m one hundred percent sure about that.” 

                        Inukai ignored Reiji, unable to control the concern that had built up within him. He didn’t want to lose Destiny, that much he knew. He looked towards the room the girls were in wishing he could be there for Destiny.

                        Max and Anna walked into the room to see Destiny was all bandaged. Anna smiled weakly while Max kept his expression hidden. Neither of them would see things as they used to, not after what they had found out.

                        Destiny woke up, groaning while she did so. She looked towards Anna and the others, then gave them a small smile. Her expression then changed to one of puzzlement. “How did I get here?"

                        “Long story,” Max said. “But your knight in shiny armor awaits you.” He ushered towards the kitchen.

                        Destiny gave him a questioning look then went to the kitchen. The others stopped what they were doing.

                        “I have to go talk to Sharon,” Reiji said and left the room.

                        “I have work to do,” Sesshomaru said and left the room.

                        “And, ummm… Kagome and I have to go get some more ramen,” Inuyasha said then left the room.

                        Inukai raised an eyebrow then looked towards Destiny. “Hey. How you feeling?”

                        “I’m okay,” Destiny said shrugging.

                        Inukai nodded. “That’s good.” He looked away. “You know, today sounds like a good day to get rid of Naraku.”

                        Destiny frowned. “Are you sure we’re all ready for the battle?”

                        “No. I’m not sure about all of us,” Inukai said then looked towards Destiny. “Mainly you.”

                        “What…?” Destiny asked, her eyes slightly widening.

                        “I don’t think you’re ready, Destiny,” Inukai said as he went up to her, placing his hands on her shoulders. He gently caressed them with his thumbs as he looked into her eyes.

                        Destiny felt as strange warmth go through her body as she felt her heart pick up speed. She gently pushed Inukai away from her, crossing her arms as her eyes narrowed. “What in the world are you talking about? Of course I’m ready.”

                        “I just don’t want to lose you…” Inukai said softly then looked away. “I’m going to tell the others.” He left the kitchen.

                        Destiny growled slightly as he left. “I’ll be fine, baka.” She went over to the window and looked out of it. She did know one thing was for sure, they’d have to get rid of Naraku soon or all would be lost.

                        “What?! Are you serious?!” Inuyasha cried angrily. “How the hell do you expect us to be ready by tomorrow?!”

                        Inukai frowned. “Inuyasha, the sooner we get rid of Naraku, the better.”

                        Inuyasha growled. “If it took that little amount of time to kill Naraku, I would have already done so.”

                        Max nodded in agreement. “He has a point, Inukai.”

                        “Doesn’t matter,” Inukai muttered as he looked away. “Naraku’s caused enough pain to everyone. It’s time we get rid of him first thing tomorrow.”

                        Kagome sighed. “Okay. I’ll call everyone.”

                        “Kagome?! You’re not seriously going to listen to him, are you?!” Inuyasha cried out in disbelief.

                        Kagome looked towards her husband. “Inuyasha, Inukai has a point. Besides, I’m sure we can defeat Naraku. I don’t know how, I’m just very sure of it.” Of course, she was lying. She couldn’t help but feel as though things would turn out for the worse the following day. She went over to the phone and began making calls.

                        Inuyasha sighed in defeat then nodded. “Okay. Let’s get ready.”

                        Max and Anna sat down on the porch, watching the sun begin to set. They had all gotten everything ready for what would be their final battle tomorrow. Anna rested her head against Max’s shoulder causing him to look down at her in surprise. He then smiled warmly and put an arm around her shoulder.

                        “I’m not so sure about tomorrow’s battle. Not after what you told me,” Anna said softly.

                        “Everything will be fine,” Max said, trying his best to comfort her. He wasn’t too sure about that, though. He couldn’t help but feel as though all their attempts of getting rid of Naraku were about to all go down in vain.

                        Sharon sat down upon a tree branch, throwing acorns across the garden. She sighed. She was looking forward to tomorrow’s battle, but, at the same time, she wasn’t.

                        “Hey. What brings you here?” a voice from below her asked.

                        Sharon looked down to Reiji. She smiled slightly. “Just thinking. You?”

                        Reiji looked away and looked off towards the distance. “Same.” He was preoccupied in his own thoughts that were filled with the events to happen tomorrow. He couldn’t help but feel everything was going to end horribly. He felt as though the end of the world was about to come.

                        Sharon nodded then there was a long uncomfortable silence before she asked, “What you thinking about?”

                        “Tomorrow’s battle,” Reiji said plainly. He looked up at her. “You?”

                        Sharon sighed and looked away. “Same.”

                        Reiji nodded then climbed up the tree, sitting down next to her. “Sharon, there’s something I have to tell you.”

                        Sharon looked at him. “Yeah? What is it?”

                        Reiji fidgeted a bit then looked into her eyes. “I… I… I…” He growled in frustration since he couldn’t say the three simplest words ever invented. So, instead, he showed her what he was trying to say. He cupped her chin, gently caressing it then pressed his lips lightly against hers.

                        Sharon’s eyes widened in surprise. She then closed her eyes and kissed him back.

                        Reiji parted the kiss and smiled warmly.

                        Sharon blushed slightly, something that would be rarely seen.

                        This caused Reiji to smirk. “I love you, Sharon.”

                        Sharon smiled while still blushing. She then quickly placed a kiss upon his cheek, softly saying, “I love you, too.”

                        Kagome sighed as she sat down on the couch. She rested her head against Inuyasha’s shoulder.

                         Inuyasha yawned out of boredom as he watched some lame sitcom. “They need to put on something better.” He tried to keep his eyes from closing. It was now night and sleep was beginning to take its effect.

                        “Inuyasha, I’m worried,” Kagome said looking up at him.

                        Inuyasha looked towards his wife. “About what?”

                        “Our battle against Naraku. I get the feeling something bad is going to happen,” Kagome said softly.

                        “We’ll be fine,” Inuyasha said and kissed her on the forehead then placed his arm around her shoulders, gently rubbing her right arm. “I won’t let anything happen.”

                        Kagome nodded and closed her eyes.

                        Sango stood out on the balcony. She, Miroku, and the rest of the gang had gone to Sesshomaru’s house to stay the night when they had learned of Naraku’s plan.

                        Miroku stood up and went over to her. “What you thinking about?”

                        “Tomorrow’s battle,” Sango said, her hands turning to fists.

                        Miroku nodded in understanding, taking her hand in his. “Don’t worry. We’ll defeat him.”

                        Sango nodded and the two hugged.

                        Sesshomaru lied down on his bed, watching the TV and flipping through the channels.

                        Rin came out of the bathroom wearing a light yellow robe. She sat down next to him. “Sesshomaru, I know I might not be much of a fighter, but-”

                        “No, Rin,” Sesshomaru said calmly.

                        “You didn’t even let me finish!” Rin said, putting her hands on her hips.

                        “I didn’t have to. I already knew what you were going to say,” Sesshomaru said. “And the answer’s no.”

                        Rin growled slightly. “Fine. I’ll just stay here and worry to death!”         

                        “You do that,” Sesshomaru said then got up, going towards the door.

                        “Sesshomaru! I know that you know as well as I do that the battle against Naraku isn’t going to go well!” Rin said determinedly, going in front of him. “Unless you take me, there’s not going to be any battle for you!”

                        “Rin, this is highly irritating,” Sesshomaru said. “And since you seem to know how dangerous it’s going to be, that should give you your answer of why I’m not letting you come.”

                        Rin sighed and shook her head. “That’s exactly why I want to come.” She left the room.

                        Sesshomaru frowned then went back to sitting down on his bed.

                        Destiny was within her room. She was going to battle Naraku rather any of them liked it or not. She was, after all, very stubborn. She heard someone enter her room and looked towards the opened door to see Inukai in front of it. He went over to her and sat down next to her on her bed.

                        “About tomorrow’s battle…”

                        “Be careful,” Destiny said softly, looking up at him.

                        Inukai looked at her a bit shocked then smirked slightly. “Aren’t I always?”

                        “No,” Destiny said, frowning as she crossed her arms. “You’re always so reckless.”

                        “Whatever,” Inukai said rolling his eyes. “I didn’t come in here to talk about you about my well being.”

                        “Oh?” Destiny asked raising an eyebrow. “Then why did you come here? To bug me?”

                        “No,” Inukai said frowning then hugged her causing her to gasp from surprise. “I want you to be careful as well. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if you died.”

                        Destiny sighed and kissed him on the cheek. She slightly smiled. “I’ll be fine. No worries.” She winked.

                        Inukai smiled. “Good.”

                        That night, Inuyasha and the gang had many thoughts troubling them. The main thought being of their battle that everyone feared would only tilt in favor of Naraku. How right, and, yet, wrong they were. The following day, many tragic events had occurred. But these events would not be as horrible as those that would happen in the future…

Yeah. Yeah. I know. Lame ending. I tried to make it as long as possible, but writer’s block has officially taken me into its prison. *cries because she hates writer’s block with a passion and it won’t leave her alone causing her to write endings that totally stink* T_T And sorry ‘bout the cliff hanger, too. But dun worry! My next fic will come and it will come with a vengeance! *laughs all evilly like then notices everyone giving her strange looks and, so, stops and laughs nervously while scratching the back of her head * ^^””” Heh. Heh. Umm… Yeah. So, see ya until then. *waves bye then goes back to writing her all new sequel which she hopes will be a whole lot better then quickly comes back * Oh, yeah!
