Inuyasha: The Prophecies

Chapter Six

The dark figure came out of the shadows and they saw who it was. Nina, Anna, Sharon, and Inukai’s eyes widened. Standing in front of all of them was Suikotsu.

“What the hell?! How did you survive?!” Inukai demanded.

“Heh, that’s for me to know and you never to find out, stupid hanyou,” Suikotsu said as he grabbed out his weapon and pointed it at Inukai. “So, did you miss me?”

“Heh, not even in your dreams,” Inukai said and began charging after Suikotsu.

“Inukai, don’t! He might have a trap waiting for you!” Nina cried.

“Yeah. Well, I’ll just have to take that risk, won’t I,” Inukai said as he continued charging after Suikotsu.

Nina growled in frustration. “His arrogance is gonna kill him one of these days!”

Suikotsu smiled as Inukai drew nearer to him. Inukai jumped up in the air with Tsugerio ready to slice Suikotsu in half. As he drew closer and closer to Suikotsu, Suikotsu’s smiled widened. Suikotsu then held up his free hand. Black energy shot out of it and surrounded Suikotsu. Inukai’s blade clashed with the black energy. The black energy began sending out sparks of purple electricity then sent Inukai crashing into the ground.

Inukai growled as he sat up.

Nina quickly ran to his side. “Are you okay?”

“I’ll live,” Inukai said standing up.

                                    “Not for long,” Kayko muttered.

“You wanna repeat that?!” Inukai demanded.

“Inukai, not right now. Suikotsu’s here, remember?” Nina said putting a restraining hand on Inukai’s arm.

Inukai grunted as he turned to face Suikotsu. “She’s not worth wasting my time over anyway.”

Nina frowned and turned to look at Suikotsu. Her eyes widened when she saw that Hiten was standing next to Suikotsu. Hiten smirked and pointed his halberd towards Nina and Inukai. Nina poked Inukai on his side.

                                    “What?!” Inukai demanded.

Nina pointed her finger towards Hiten and Suikotsu.

Inukai let out a low growl. “Hey, Hiten, remember who my father is?”

“Yeah. I do,” Hiten said still smirking. “But your slave has something he wants.”

Inukai looked down at Nina while Nina gave Hiten a puzzled look. Inukai and Nina then exchanged glances when they realized what Hiten was talking about. Nina covered the Shikon Jewel with her hand and Inukai put her behind him. He bared his teeth at Hiten.

“You’ll have to get pass me if you wanna get to her,” Inukai said.

Kayko felt a surge of jealousy shoot through her, but ignored it. “You won’t be getting the jewel as you’ll have to get pass me and Inukai.”

                                    “And me,” Sharon said.

Nina frowned. Why does every bad guy go after me? She rolled her eyes. I feel so weak always being the target of everyone. She looked around for a weapon to use.

Hiten shot lightning out of his halberd and at Inukai. Inukai blocked it with his sword and began charging after Hiten. Suikotsu shot black energy at Inukai. It hit Inukai causing him to crash into a table.

Sharon shot out her foxfire at Hiten then used her golden whip like attack on Suikotsu. Suikotsu shot out his black energy at Sharon. Kayko shot an arrow at it causing the black energy to disappear.

Inukai grunted. “Sure. She helps her, but doesn’t bother helping me.”

Nina ran over to the stairs and went up them. “Sheesh. This whole place is ran by humans and all, but you’d think at least one of them would carry a weapon just in case a demon found out where we were all hiding at.” She went over to a table and looked underneath it. “Nope. Not here.” She began looking all over the upper floor searching for a weapon.

Suikotsu spotted Nina on the second floor. He looked behind the curtains and made a signal with one of his fingers.

Inukai charged after Hiten again. Hiten shot out lightning at Inukai. Inukai put his sword up in defense. Three razor blades then came at him from the opposite direction. Inukai’s eyes widened.

                                    Kayko’s eyes also widened. “Inukai!”

Nina heard Inukai’s name and quickly ran over to the railing to see why Kayko had cried out Inukai’s name. Her eyes widened in horror when she realized what was happening. “Inukai, look out!”

Inukai looked up towards Nina. Their eyes met. Inukai then quickly ducked. The razors flew past him then turned back around. Inukai’s eyes widened out of surprise and he jumped over them.

“Give up. It’s useless,” Suikotsu said. “They follow you until they hit you.”

Inukai growled and ducked as the razors flew towards him again.

Nina looked around for something to stop the razors when she spotted Genkotsu hidden in the curtains on the stage at the corner. She let out a low growl. That big cheating coward. She then smiled as she spotted a bow and quiver filled with arrows lying against the wall. She picked them up and placed an arrow on the bow as she took aim.

Kayko growled and lowered her bow. She then held up a hand in front of Suikotsu. Her hand began glowing pink.

Suikotsu watched her out of curiosity then said, “You look oddly familiar. What’s your name?”

“My name is none of your business,” Kayko said. She then shot out the pink energy and threw it at Suikotsu.

Suikotsu’s eyes widened and he quickly moved out of the way, but Kayko had done what she had hoped to do as she had burned a hole through the curtains showing the rest of the Shichinintai that were hidden.

Jakotsu looked at the hole speechless. Renkotsu shot Kayko a glare. Mukotsu looked towards the second floor to see Nina release her arrow. Mukotsu then looked towards Genkotsu.

“Move out of the way, fool,” Mukotsu said. “Or you shall be purified by that wench’s arrow.”

Genkotsu looked towards Mukotsu then towards the arrow. “I won’t be able to move out of the way in time.”

Suikotsu growled and shot black energy out of his weapon and at Genkotsu. It hit Genkotsu causing him to hit the wall and move out of the way just in time as the arrow almost had hit his foot and was just inches away from him.

Suikotsu let out a growl of frustration. “I have to do everything for you guys, don’t I.” He sighed then looked up at Nina as she aimed an arrow at him. He pointed his weapon at her. “I dare you to shoot me with that arrow of yours, witch.”

Nina’s eyes widened in surprise. Her face then turned to a look of determination and she released her arrow.

“Kanna, come and block the arrow,” Suikotsu said.

“What?! Kanna?” Inukai asked lowering his sword and looking towards Suikotsu. What’s my sister gotta do with any of this?

Kanna appeared from behind Suikotsu and went in front of him. She then held up her mirror as it began glowing.

My arrow’s going to make it. I know it will. It’s not going to fire back. It’s just like Kagome’s arrow, Nina thought.

Inukai’s eyes widened when he saw his sister go in front of Suikotsu. “Kanna, what the hell do you think you’re doing?!”

Kanna looked towards her younger brother. “There is so much more you must learn, Inukai.”

Nina’s arrow hit the mirror. Nina watched eagerly. Inukai looked towards Nina. Kayko began aiming her arrow at Kanna. Sharon shot her foxfire at Renkotsu. Anna picked up a sword she had found beside the door. She then began fighting Jakotsu. The arrow reflected off Kanna’s mirror and began going towards Nina. Nina’s eyes widened.

How can that be? It didn’t reflect Kagome’s arrow, Nina thought.

Inukai gritted his teeth and began running towards the stairs. Kayko saw this and shot her arrow right in front of him.

“What the hell?! Kayko, what do you think you’re doing?!” Inukai demanded. “I have to save Nina.”

“If you save Nina, you’ll get killed,” Kayko said. “You’re a half demon. Her arrow will have the same effect that it has on a full demon if it hits you. You’ll have to leave it to Nina. She’ll have to save herself.”

Inukai growled and looked up at Nina. Don’t get hurt. I know I can’t protect you on this, but if I could, I would.

Nina looked towards Inukai. I know you would protect me. And you still are. I won’t get hurt. I promise. She looked towards the arrow. She held out her hands as she felt the Shikon Jewel begin to glow. She closed her eyes. Please, don’t hit me and hit your real target that I had shot you for.

Kanna watched Nina. She let out a gasp when she saw that the arrow was coming back only it was going towards Suikotsu.

Inukai smiled as Nina lowered her hands, opened her eyes, and watched her arrow amazed at what she had done. That’s a good girl.

Nina looked towards Inukai and smiled as their eyes met. Thank you for believing in me.

Inukai’s eyes widened. How can I hear your voice? How can you hear my thoughts? What’s going on?

I have no idea, Nina thought. Do you think the Shikon Jewel is enabling us to speak to each other through telepathy?

Inukai shrugged. You expect me to know? I don’t know everything.

Nina rolled her eyes. Whatever. Come on. We have to fight the Shichinintai.

Inukai nodded and turned to face Suikotsu. “You’re not going to get away for trying to hurt Nina.”

Suikotsu frowned. “Don’t you mean to say that to Kanna. She is, after all, the one who reflected the arrow.”

Inukai looked towards his sister. “Why did you do it, Kanna?”

“Father had told me to take the Shikon no Tama from your slave and I shall follow his orders,” Kanna said.

“Kanna, you know better,” Inukai said. “I don’t want to fight you.”

“I do not wish to fight you either,” Kanna said. “All you have to do is hand over the jewel.”

Nina put a hand over the jewel. “I’m not handing it over to anyone. It’s my job to protect it.”

“Command your slave to hand it over,” Hiten said. “Unless, she’s not really your slave.”

Inukai let out a growl. “She’s my slave, but I won’t hand it over. The jewel’s all mine and no one else’s.”

Nina’s eyes widened in horror. Then that means Inukai only wants me around so he can have the jewel. She felt tears fill her eyes. He feels nothing for me at all. I’m just his friend until he takes the jewel from me. She began biting her lower lip and looked around for a window or door. Anything that would allow her to leave the restaurant and go home. I have to get home. I hate to leave Anna and Sharon behind, but all I am to Inukai is-is-is nothing! She spotted a window and went over to it. She then opened it and jumped down. She knew she would be okay. After all, she was half dog demon.

Kayko looked towards the second floor and knew that Nina had left. She then looked towards Inukai. You stupid mutt, you don’t even realize what you’re making that poor girl go through. You are so inconsiderate of other people’s feelings.

Inukai charged after Suikotsu. He then jumped up in the air and went in for the kill. Suikotsu shot out black energy again. It hit Inukai causing him to crash into the floor again. Inukai stood up as he wiped away blood that was coming down from his lower lip. He then let out a growl and charged after Suikotsu again.

“Don’t you learn anything, you good for nothing hanyou?” Suikotsu asked dully as he raised his hand again and sot out black energy. He then looked towards Mukotsu. “Go get the girl. You know where she is and bring Kanna with you.”

Mukotsu nodded and he and Kanna left.

Nina ran down the streets as tears threatened to go down her face. She couldn’t take it anymore. She didn’t know why she hadn’t left Inukai when she had the chance back when she was at Naraku’s palace. I’m his slave and nothing more. He doesn’t give a care about me. Besides, why would he when he has the one girl he actually loved back?

Renkotsu tied Sharon up and sent down his fire. Sharon cut the rope in half with her golden whip like attack. She then shot out her foxfire. Renkotsu shot his fire out causing the foxfire and regular fire to clash. The two pushed against the flames trying to make the other give in.

Anna cut Jakotsu across the arm. Jakotsu glared at her and threw his swords at her. Anna dodged all of them, but one, which cut her on the cheek. The swords then came back flying towards Anna again. Anna jumped over them.

Genkotsu shot his razors out at Inukai. Kayko saw this and shot her arrow at the razors causing them to fall to the ground. Genkotsu let out a low growl while Kayko just gave him a look.

“You aren’t going two against one. I will not allow cowards like you to cheat,” Kayko said.

Genkotsu shot out his razors at Kayko. Kayko held up her hands as pink light began to glow around them. She then put her hands together then spread them apart. The pink light engulfed her. The razors hit the light and bounced off it crashing into the floor. Genkotsu growled and was about to shoot out another batch of razors when a voice suddenly spoke.

“Leave her to me. I will teach her a lesson she will never forget,” the voice said.

Genkotsu nodded and moved out of the way revealing Kagura.

Kagura stepped forth and smiled. “So, your name is Kayko, huh? I thought my little brother had gotten rid of you a long time ago.”

Kayko snarled and aimed an arrow on her bow. “You are the daughter of Naraku and that means I must kill you. After all, my job is to also protect the Jewel of Four Souls.”

“This will be the day you die,” Kagura said. “Dance of the Wind Blades!”

Kayko dodged Kagura’s attack. Kagura glared at her.

“Fine, but can you dodge this?” Kagura asked. “Dance of the Dragon Snakes!”

Kayko watched the tornados and looked around for a place to take cover at. Inukai saw the tornados and cursed. He then hid underneath a table even though he knew that wasn’t exactly the best place to hide from a tornado. Sharon and Anna exchanged glances and quickly ran into a closet. Suikotsu, Jakotsu, and Renkotsu glared at Kagura.

“What do you think you’re doing?!” Suikotsu demanded.

“Do you want to get rid of them or not?” Kagura asked.

“Of course we do, but we want to do it without all of us being killed,” Jakotsu said.

Kagura rolled her eyes. “Just get behind me, you idiots.”

The three men exchanged glances and nodded. They then went behind Kagura.

Nina soon found herself in front of her house. She knocked trying to keep the tears from going down her face. The door opened and Kagome looked at Nina confused.

“Where are the others?” Kagome asked.

“They’re-they went home,” Nina lied. She entered the house and ran into her room. She then closed the door and lied down on her bed burying her face in the pillow. I wish I had never met Inukai. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t be feeling as miserable as I am right now. I wish I had never met Inuyasha and the others. I wish I was a normal human girl.

You know that’s not true, a voice said. You wanted to meet Inuyasha and his friends so you could have an adventure. You only feel miserable because you love Inukai and you know that even if you wished you hadn’t seen him for a second time, you would be miserable anyway. You need Inukai and you know it. You know that if you were a normal girl you wouldn’t be involved in a battle that would change the world forever. If you were a normal girl, you wouldn’t have met the half dog demon that you would fall in love with. You know you don’t want that.

Yes, I do. I do. I do. I do! Nina cried out in her mind.

No, you don’t. You are in a state of denial, the voice said. You love Inukai with all your heart and you would rather die than not have him by your side.

That’s not true. He could die for all I care! Nina thought.

The voice let out a sigh. Even you know that you care deeply for him. Do not deny it. You and him drift farther and farther apart the more you and him do this.

I don’t care! Nina thought. Just leave me alone!

Do you not see what is happening? the voice asked. The more denial you are in, the darker your heart becomes.

I said leave me alone! Don’t say you understand how I feel because you don’t! Now leave! Nina cried out in her mind.

Child, I do understand how ye feels. Please, stop trying to fight me and let me help ye, the voice said.

No, you don’t. Now leave me alone! Nina cried squeezing her eyes shut. Leave me alone. You understand nothing.

Do as she says, an even darker voice said.

The first voice let out a gasp. You!

Yes, me, the second voice said.

Nina didn’t know what was happening between the two voices because they stopped talking, but she didn’t care. Just as long as they leave me alone, it’s okay with me.

Inukai watched the tornados go all over the place. He then looked towards Kagura. Stupid witch, she should’ve done this outside instead of inside here. What the- He shook his head. Did I just call my sister a stupid witch?! I can’t believe I just though that! Well, that’s not important. All I have to do is get to my sister. She won’t hurt me. He stood up and began walking towards Kagura.

Kayko saw Inukai come out of his hiding place. That idiot, what does he think he’s doing?! “Inukai, get back here before you get yourself killed!” Though, he does deserve it for what he’s done to Nina and me.

Inukai looked towards Kayko and hissed, “Shut up, Kayko. I know what I’m doing.”

                                    “You had better,” Kayko muttered.

Kagura saw Inukai coming towards her and swung her fan towards his direction. One of the tornados began going in his direction.

Inukai saw this and gave Kagura a puzzled look. “Sister, what are you doing? Why are you attacking me?”

“You protected your own slave and refused to hand over the Shikon Jewel,” Kagura said. “Let me rephrase that. You didn’t make that human your slave at all and became friends with her. You let her come back home and became friends with her human friends.”

“Not all of us are human,” Sharon said coming out of her hiding place. “I’m one-third fox demon, one-third dog demon, and one-third human.”

Kayko also came out of her hiding place. “And, even though Naraku doesn’t know it, I’m half dog demon.”

Inukai looked towards Kayko surprised. She’s half dog demon just like me? Just like Nina? Wait a sec! Where is Nina?! He looked around the room for Nina and found that she was gone and so was Mukotsu and Kanna. His eyes widened. Oh, no. She’s in trouble and I’m not going to be there to protect her like I promised! He snarled at his sister and the remaining Shichinintai. “I’ll be back to take care of you guys later.” He turned towards the door and began running towards it.

“Where do you think you’re going?!” Kayko demanded.

“Nina’s in trouble. I need to rescue her,” Inukai said and ran out the door.

Sharon and Anna exchanged glances again and followed Inukai.

Kayko let out a sigh and felt a surge of jealousy go through her again. She then followed Inukai, Sharon, and Anna.

Nina sat up as she wiped her tears away. She then looked towards her window. Her eyes widened when she saw Mukotsu and Kanna outside of it. The two then broke her window and entered Nina’s room. Nina let out a yelp and ran over to her closet. She then opened it and reached for her bow and arrows, but Mukotsu went in front of her and punched her in the face. Nina fell down onto the floor. She then sat up and wiped the blood away from her lower lip.

“You’re not getting away with that,” Nina said shooting Mukotsu a glare. “I can promise you that.” She stood up and made her claws appear.

Mukotsu smiled and sent out his poison. Nina started coughing and covered her nose and mouth with the sleeve of her shirt. She felt the poison begin to eat away at her shirt and knew that the poison was just like Naraku’s miasma.

Why are these guys so strong all of the sudden? Nina thought. It then came to her. Of course! Naraku’s made them stronger than what they used to be! That’s why this poison is more like miasma! Oh, I need my arrows to get rid of this or I’m going to be eaten away by this stuff!
