Chapter Four
Nina ran into the Gap store. Inukai followed carrying several bags with mostly everything he had bought for her. He groaned as he saw Nina grab more clothes then run into the changing room. He let out a sigh and sat down on the chair in front of the room. He put the bags down and looked up at the ceiling boredly. He then closed his eyes.
Nina looked at the clothes she had chosen and tried them on. She frowned as she threw another one she thought didn’t look good on her to the side. She then smiled at the pile that had all the clothes she had tried on and liked. She leaned over and looked out the door to see Inukai apparently sleeping. An idea then occurred to her and her smiled widened.
“So, tell me, why were you in such a hurry to make me sit?” Sharon asked as she looked towards the trees.
“Because of him,” Anna whispered and pointed a finger at Max who was enjoying a conversation with a girl.
Sharon raised a questioning eyebrow. “So, then, he’s sort of like Miroku?”
Anna’s expression turned to one of confusion. “Who?”
“Miroku,” Sharon said. “You know, the lecherous monk who married Sango.”
Anna continued giving her a puzzled look.
Sharon frowned. “I can’t believe you forgot. Sango is, after all, your favorite character from Inuyasha.”
“Whatever,” Anna said still confused.
“Umm, Mrs. Summers, is your daughter home from school yet?” Kagome asked as she and Inuyasha took a seat on the couch.
Mrs. Summers shook her head. “She hasn’t even gone to school.”
“You mean she’s home?” Inuyasha asked as his face turned to a look of puzzlement. “Because I don’t smell her scent.”
“No, Lord Inuyasha, she is not home nor is she at school,” Mrs. Summers said.
“Lord Inuyasha?” Inuyasha asked.
“Where’s your daughter at?” Kagome asked elbowing Inuyasha. They had to stay on the task at hand, which meant not to ask such questions that weren’t concerned with it.
“She is off in the outside world with one I believe you both know very well,” Mrs. Summers said.
Inuyasha and Kagome exchanged glances.
Inuyasha then looked towards Nina’s mother. “Why aren’t you freaking out? I’m half dog demon.”
Mrs. Summers nodded and
smiled. “I know. And I am not afraid. I am, after all, your great granddaughter.
And I’m sure Nina will be thrilled to see you again.”
“You mean you actually remember everything
that happened last year?” Kagome asked wide-eyed.
Mrs. Summers nodded. “I am a priestess and the Shikon Jewel had no affect on me.”
“Well, we should go then,” Inuyasha said standing up.
“You sure?” Mrs. Summers asked. “I’m sure my daughter will be returning shortly.”
“We’ll stay,” Kagome said pulling on the sleeve of Inuyasha’s shirt.
Inuyasha grunted and sat down.
“Would you two like some green tea?” Mrs. Summers asked.
“Sure,” Kagome said smiling.
“Whatever,” Inuyasha muttered.
“He would like some, too,” Kagome said.
“Okay,” Mrs. Summers said still smiling. She went into the kitchen and began making the tea.
Inukai stood in a forest. He smelled a very familiar sweet scent. He began following it. He came to a stop in front of a small town. The town then went up in flames. He then found himself running deeper and deeper into the forest. An arrow flew past him, cutting him on the cheek. He turned around to see a girl that looked oddly like Nina except she was wearing priestess clothing and had her hair tied back Kikyo style. She carried a bow and quiver filled with several arrows. She grabbed out an arrow and took aim on her bow. Inukai looked at her puzzled.
“Inukai, how could you? You were using me the whole time,” the girl said as tears filled her eyes.
“What? Using you? I don’t even know you,” Inukai said puzzled.
“I must now kill you for your evil deeds,” the girl said as her tears began going down her face. “Die, Inukai!” She released the arrow.
Inukai’s eyes widened. Everything then began going in slow motion. The glowing pink arrow hit him where his heart was. It then went completely through him and pinned him against a tree. He weakly opened one eye to see something purple fall out of his hand and down onto the ground. He then saw that it was…
The Shikon Jewel?! How did I get it?! I don’t remember ever having it, Inukai thought in bewilderment.
The girl fell to her knees. Inukai then saw that she was wounded as blood was dripping from her shoulder. The girl put her hand over her wound and picked up the Shikon Jewel as she looked towards Inukai.
“To use the jewel for such a thing is very vile of you to do so,” the girl said.
Several people ran over to her including a little girl. The little girl oddly reminded him of Kaede when she was a little girl. Tears began going down her face.
“Sister Kayko, are you okay?” the little girl asked.
“I will not live,” the girl said. “Kianna, take the jewel and give it to the one named Nina. She is our only hope left.” She then looked towards Inukai. “Hopefully, she will not fall under the same spell I did.” She then fell to the ground as her sister cried out her name.
Inukai then felt his eyes close and soon found himself in darkness. He then heard a voice.
“Inukai? Inukai, are you awake?” the voice asked.
“Maybe. I don’t know. I’m lost,” Inukai said.
“Inukai, you’re not lost. You’re right here with me,” the voice said.
Inukai felt a hand on his shoulder. He put a hand over whoever’s hand it was that was on his shoulder. “Who are you? Where are we?”
“Inukai, it’s me. Nina. And we’re in the mall. You’re just dreaming and talking in your sleep at the moment,” the voice said.
Inukai opened his eyes to see Nina’s happy face.
Nina giggled. “You look like a little puppy when you’re asleep.”
Inukai began blushing and stubbornly looked away as he went into an Inuyasha pose. “I do not look like a puppy.”
Nina giggled again and took her hand away from his shoulder as she took a couple of steps back. “So what do you think?”
“Think of what?” Inukai asked looking towards her.
Nina frowned and pointed at the dress she was wearing. It was made of silk and reached her ankles. The sleeves were cut at the shoulders. It had a v-neck and was a sky blue color. Nina spun around causing the gown to slightly fly up.
Inukai slightly smiled. “Yeah. It’s okay and all, but do you really want to fight Naraku in that?”
Nina frowned. “No. It’s for any upcoming dances that are going to be held at the high school.” She then looked down at the ground and muttered, “If I can get a date, that is. I am so not dancing by myself.”
Inukai raised an eyebrow as he smirked. “Date, eh? Is there a certain someone that you plan on wanting to accompany with to it?”
Nina looked up at him and began blushing. Darn him and his dog-ears. Sheesh. How’s someone supposed to mutter stuff without him finding out what it was they said?
“So, are you going to stand there all day or what?” Inukai asked as he found that her scent had changed to one of anger and nervousness. He then realized her scent was the same as the girl in his dream. “Nina?”
“Yeah?” Nina asked snapping out of her thoughts and giving Inukai a puzzled look.
“Do you have a sister that you never told me about?” Inukai asked.
“What? No. Why?” Nina said becoming even more confused.
“No reason,” Inukai said. “Just wondering.”
Nina gave him another puzzled look then went back into the changing room. A couple of minutes later, she came out wearing a white shirt that was designed like Inukai’s and a long floral skirt that reached her ankles. “So?”
“You’re going to wear that when you battle Naraku?” Inukai asked.
Nina frowned. “I’ll wear what ever I’m wearing when we fight Naraku.”
Inukai rolled his eyes. “Whatever. Are you done? I really don’t want to go shopping anymore.” At this, he looked towards all the bags he had to carry.
Nina followed his gaze and realized why he wanted to leave. “Inukai, I’m not going to keep all of that clothes. I’m going to give some away to charity.”
“Charity?” Inukai asked looking towards her.
“Yeah. There are some people out there who aren’t as rich as you,” Nina said.
She has such a big caring heart, Inukai thought. He smiled. “Okay. Do that, but are you going to do it for the demons, too?”
“Of course,” Nina said. “Not all demons are bad, you know.” Such as you and me.
Inukai’s smiled widened. “Great!” He then shook his head. What the-Why am I acting this way?!
“Let’s go to my house after we pay for these,” Nina said.
Inukai nodded.
“So, are we going to have practice after school?” Sharon asked as she and Anna began walking to their final class.
“Yeah. Sure,” Anna said. Where is Nina? Why isn’t she here? Oh, I am going to kill her when I see her again.
Max smiled as he followed the two girls closely. He then looked to his right to see Talon. “So, Talon, do you think Anna likes me or what?”
Talon looked towards him and said, “I actually think she sort of does have a thing for you, but I think she would like you better if you weren’t a hentai.”
“Me? A hentai? I am so hurt,” Max said placing a hand over his heart.
Inukai took Nina off his back as she and him entered the sewers.
“You haven’t seen Sota, have you?” Inukai asked.
Nina gave him a small smile. She knew the two were best friends and if Inukai had his memory back, he must be really worried for Sota. “Sorry. I haven’t.”
Inukai let out a sigh and turned a corner.
Nina smiled as soon as she saw light. She then looked down at the ground. She knew she would miss the outside world again even if she knew she was going to go back out there. She already missed the sun and sky and birds and so on forth.
Inukai noticed this and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure this isn’t the last time you’re outside. You’ll see the moon, stars, and everything again real soon. I promise.”
“You’ve been making a lot of those lately,” Nina muttered. “You shouldn’t make promises you can’t keep.”
“I can keep this promise,” Inukai said. “Just like I can keep others I’ve made. Just like I will always protect you.”
Nina placed a hand over his and nodded. “Yeah. I know.” She then turned around to face him. “Just don’t get killed in the process.”
Inukai smiled as he placed some of her hair behind her ear. “Don’t worry. I won’t.”
Inuyasha let out a growl of frustration. “How long does it take for that stupid girl to get home?!”
“That ‘stupid girl’, as you put it, happens to be related to you,” Kagome muttered.
Inuyasha grunted. “Whatever.”
Anna and Sharon stood in front of the door to Nina’s house.
“You knock,” Sharon said.
“No. You knock,” Anna said.
“No. You knock,” Sharon said.
“You.”
“You.”
“No. You.”
“Guys, why don’t I knock?” a voice suddenly asked.
The two girls turned around to see Nina.
“Nina!” they both cried.
“Hey,” Nina said smiling. It’s now or never. “Guys, can you two touch this?” She held out her hand with the Shikon Jewel in it.
“Why?” Anna asked.
“Just do it,” Nina said.
“Yeah, so we can go on with life and with our memories intact,” Inukai said.
Anna and Sharon gave him a puzzled look.
Inukai rolled his eyes. “Damn it! Just do it!”
Anna and Sharon exchanged glances and nodded. They then put their hand over the jewel. The jewel began glowing. The jewel then stopped glowing and the two girls took their hands off the Shikon Jewel. They then looked at Nina and Inukai.
“Oh my god. It worked,” Anna said.
“I remember everything,” Sharon said. She then frowned. “Never mind. I always had my memory restored as weird as that sounds.”
Nina shook her head. “It’s not weird. Your dog demon blood, fox demon blood, and human blood must’ve prevented the jewel’s magic from working on you.”
Sharon smiled and crossed her arms. “You know, I gotta give Sesshomaru some credit or else I would’ve lost my memory, but I still want to be related to Inuyasha.”
“That’s nice and all, but you’re all late,” a voice said.
The four teenagers turned around to see an angry Inuyasha and a happy Kagome. Nina’s eyes lit up and she ran over to the two giving each of them a hug.
“I’ve missed you two for so long,” Nina said.
“So have we,” Kagome said.
“No one’s hurt you or anything, have they?” Inuyasha asked putting a hand on the hilt of Tessaiga.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ve been protecting her,” Inukai said.
Inuyasha nodded. “Good.”
Kagome smiled, went over to Nina, and whispered, “Have you two admitted your feelings to each other yet?”
“What?!” Nina asked her face turning a deep shade of red. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about Kagome!”
Inuyasha, Inukai, Anna, and Sharon turned around to face Nina and Kagome.
“Nina’s blushing. Nina’s blushing,” Anna teased pointing a finger at her best friend.
“She is blushing,” Sharon said raising an eyebrow.
Inukai looked towards Kagome who was smiling. “What did you tell her, Kagome?”
“Yeah?” Inuyasha asked.
Kagome only smiled towards the two half dog demons. “That’s for me and Nina to know and you two to find out.”
“Never to find out,” Nina said as her blush got bigger.
Inukai let out a sigh. “Whatever. Let’s go inside and explain why we’re all here.”
They all nodded and did just that.
Kagura raised an eyebrow. “I see. So that’s your plan, huh?” She smiled. “I like the way you think, Kanna.”
Kanna didn’t say anything and looked out the window.
“So you guys came here looking for me?” Nina asked.
Kagome nodded.
“Why?” Nina asked.
“We knew that you still remembered everything,” Kagome said. “So we went to look for you and gather the team we had all those years ago.”
Nina nodded. She knew that Kagome had been unable to travel through time back to the present time due to the wish she had made, meaning Kagome and Inuyasha had lived for about five hundred years and were waiting for a year to pass since she had made her wish though, now it was confusing Nina as Kagome had been around a year ago in her own time at Tokyo and that meant that somehow Nina had changed the future and past due to her wish. Nina shook her head knowing she was only making herself even more confused.
“I take it you two still haven’t found the chosen one and whoever the demon and priestess are, right?” Inukai asked.
Kagome let out a sigh and nodded. Inuyasha just grunted and looked out the window.
“Isn’t the chosen one supposed to make everything correct in the stream of time and in the world?” Anna asked.
“Yes, they are,” Kagome said.
“Lord Nekono, Lady Nekaira, if it wouldn’t be too much trouble, could you two please show me your hostage?” Naraku asked looking down at the two neko demons.
“It’s no trouble at all, Lord Naraku,” Nekaira said. She looked towards Naraku’s two guards that were in front of the doors. “Instruct our soldiers to let in the captive.”
The two guards nodded and opened the doors. Two neko demons walked in carrying a boy that was no older than Anna.
The boy had black hair, deep dark eyes, and dark skin. He wore a black t-shirt, dark blue jeans, and black Nikes.
“So you are the brother of Anna. Correct?” Naraku asked as he gave the boy a small evil smile.
“Man, let me go, you felines,” the boy said as he tried to get free of the two neko demons.
Nekono signaled for the soldiers to let go of the boy.
The boy smirked as they let him go. “That’s right. You had better let me go.”
“Tell me, what is your name?” Naraku asked his smile widening.
“Kyle,” the boy said. “And, yeah, I’m Anna’s step brother.”
“Very well,” Naraku said. “Send him to a room fit for a king.”
The guards nodded and took Kyle by the arm leading him to his room.
I may have use for that boy yet, Naraku thought. His sister would not want to fight her own brother. Just like Sango, she has her weakness. I’ve already made her like her great grandmother. I’ve had her family killed, her brother kidnapped, and, just like Sango, I will kill her. He began laughing evilly.
“Guys, when’s our next concert?” Nina asked as Inuyasha and Kagome left to the kitchen to get more tea.
“On the fifth of February,” Anna said.
Nina nodded and smiled. “Inukai’s joining us.”
“Yeah. So get ready to rock ‘n roll,” Inukai said grinning.
“Well, let’s go practice,” Nina said.
She, Sharon, Anna, and Inukai went into the garage. Nina went in front of them all holding her microphone. Sharon got ready to play the drums. Anna got ready to slam on her guitar. Inukai stood beside Nina in front of his microphone and getting ready to play his guitar. They began playing Owari nai Yume.
The city in the georama of the heart
Is sparkling with the light of hope
The dream that flew up with the wings of an
Ephemera

Hiding in the eyes bluely
The chorus began.

And we continue with our journey

Inukai and Nina looked towards each other as the chorus ended.
In the ocean in the turquoise-colored heart
The signals of the ship of light can be heard
I need to go faster, for this impatient feeling

The chorus began again.
Let the two of us become one
Holding on to the coward waves
We continue with our journey

The chorus ended and Nina and Inukai smiled at each other.
“Guys, if we could get on with the next song, I think we would get some practice done,” Sharon said.
“Yeah. You guys can go smooch some other time,” Anna said.
Nina and Inukai began blushing. Nina looked down at her microphone while Inukai looked down at his guitar.
“R-right. Let’s get on with the next song,” Nina said nervously.
Inukai nodded.
They began playing Shinjitsu no Shi.
