Inuyasha: The Prophecies

Chapter Two

Nina woke up that night from a horrible nightmare she had. She sat up as sweat went down her face. Her breathing was fast and her heart was speeding. It was a nightmare. That’s all. Inukai’s somewhere in bed safe and sound. She got up and went over to her closet. She then grabbed out a white short sleeve shirt and a wavy floral skirt. She put them on and put on her socks pulling them up as high as they would go then put on her dress shoes. She then grabbed her bow and quiver filled with several arrows and put them on her back.

She quickly left her house after making sure her mother, father, and brother were asleep. She then went towards the sewers and ran down the tunnels. Soon, she reached the exit and left the sewers. She checked to make sure no one was around and ran down the alley. She quickly stopped as soon as she saw a demon walk by. She let out a sigh of relief when she saw the demon hadn’t spotted her.

Okay. Now, where does Naraku live? Wherever he lives, that’s where Inukai lives, Nina thought.

She ran out of the alley and down the streets ready to grab out her bow and an arrow if needed. She soon found herself looking up at a mansion.

Is this it? Nina thought looking up at it in amazement. It’s huge!

Inukai watched Kanna and yawned. “This is boring. How long does it take to make a lousy potion?”

Kanna poured green liquid into a cauldron then threw in some ginger. “Patience. This is a very long and complicated spell.”

Inukai grunted and looked back out the window. His eyes widened when he spotted Nina who was still looking at the mansion. He went over to the window and stared down at her. Nina then looked in his direction. Their eyes met. This girl, what is it about her that makes me want to be around her?

Kanna looked towards Inukai to see him still staring out the window. She went over to him and looked out the window to see Nina who was still looking in Inukai’s direction. She went back over to the potion and smiled. Looks like my little brother is growing up. She threw in an oak tree root.

Nina saw Inukai’s eyes and seemed unable to pull her gaze away from them. She felt her heart begin to speed as her cheeks turned to a rosy color. Inukai… You’re okay.

“Hey! You!” a voice suddenly cried.

Nina spun around, not really wanting to, to see Hiten.

Hiten walked up to her and placed his hand underneath her chin gently tilting it upward so he could look into her eyes. “You’re a very beautiful wench. I shall make you my bride.”

“Wha-what?!” Nina asked. Uh-uh. Not happening. It’s bad enough Koga claimed me as his woman and that Sota likes me and… She shook her head and shot Hiten a glare. “Who do you think you are?! I am not going to be your wife! I’m only sixteen years old! You think I want to be married right now?! I still have school to worry about! Now, buzz off, you jerk!”

Hiten growled and pointed his halberd at her. “I made you mine. If you refuse, I shall kill you as your punishment, human.”

Nina took her bow off her back and grabbed out an arrow. She then aimed her arrow. “Well there’s something you should know about this human before you attack her. This human happens to be half dog demon and a priestess.” She shot her arrow.

Hiten jumped over it and shot lightning out of his staff and at her. Nina dodged it and shot another arrow. It hit Hiten’s arm. Hiten shot her a glare.

Inukai’s eyes widened as he watched Hiten fight Nina. His eyes then changed to a look of determination. She needs me. “I’ll be right back, Kanna.” He ran out of her room, into his room, grabbed Tsugerio, and ran out of the palace and to the scene that was occurring.

Kanna raised a questioning eyebrow and looked out the window to see Nina fighting Hiten. She sighed and smiled as she added another ingredient to the potion. Anything for the one you love. I wonder if that’s how Mom and Dad were.

Nina dodged another attack and shot her arrow hitting Hiten’s leg. Hiten shot lightning out of his halberd again. This time, he hit Nina and knocked the bow out of her hands. Nina groaned and sat up. She then made her claws appear and charged at Hiten. Hiten quickly grabbed her clawed hands and held them in his as he stared into Nina’s eyes.

“My, you are the most frisky half demon I have ever met,” Hiten said smiling. “I like that in a woman.”

Nina growled and tried kicking him, but failed.

Hiten spotted the Shikon Jewel and put a hand on it as he looked at it. “The Shikon no Tama. Many thought it no longer existed, but you had it all this time. Now, tell me, why would someone like you have this? It is rightfully mine.”

“You wish,” Nina said rolling her eyes. “I have the jewel because it’s my duty to protect it from people like you.”

Hiten yanked it her necklace. “It is mine, not yours.”

Nina stepped on his foot. Hiten let out a cry releasing Nina. Nina began running towards the mansion.

Inukai, where are you? Nina thought as she neared the mansion.

Hiten snarled and chased after her. “You’re not getting away from me that easily.”

Nina looked over her shoulder to see Hiten drawing nearer. Darn it! Why didn’t I get my arrows and bow when I had the chance?!

Hiten shot out lightning again and made a tree fall in Nina’s way causing her to trip. Hiten then jumped down beside her and grabbed her ankles as she tried to get away. He turned her around and went up to her. He held her hands down as she tried hitting him.

“The jewel will be mine,” Hiten said looking down at it.

“Leave her alone or I’ll cut your head off,” a voice said.

Hiten turned his head as Nina looked over his shoulder. Hiten’s face turned pale while Nina’s eyes lit up. Standing over Hiten was Inukai with his sword pointed at Hiten’s neck.

“You have the count of three,” Inukai said letting out a low growl. “One…”

Hiten quickly got up and took a couple of steps back.

Inukai smirked. “Heh, that’s what I thought.” He sheathed his sword then went over to Nina and helped her up. “You okay?”

                                    Nina nodded.

“Is she your slave?” Hiten asked. “Because if she is, I didn’t mean to. If I had known, I would’ve let her be so you could punish her for sneaking out.”

“Heh, and I’ll do that,” Inukai said bringing up a clawed hand.

Nina’s face paled. The-then he didn’t come to rescue me, but to make me his slave?

                                    Hiten left.

Inukai turned to face Nina and grabbed her hand. “Come on.”

“No!” Nina said taking her hand away from him as her eyes began to fill with tears. “I’m not going anywhere with you!”

Inukai frowned and took her hand. “You’re going to make a scene. Now, let’s go before anyone else decides they want to come over.”

“No!” Nina said taking her hand away from him again and going into an Inuyasha pose.

Inukai let out a low growl. “Fine. If you’re going to be stubborn, then I’ll have to take you in myself.” He picked her up bridal style and began walking back into the mansion.

“Why you-Let me go!” Nina cried trying to get free and pounding her fists into Inukai’s chest.

“Shut up, will ya!” Inukai yelled.

“Not until you let me go!” Nina cried still hitting his chest.

“Stupid girl, listen to me!” Inukai hissed.

“No! You listen to me!” Nina cried.

Inukai growled and opened the door to his room. He quickly entered it and threw Nina onto his bed. “Fine! There! You happy?! I let you go! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have other things to take care of.” With that, he slammed the door close.

Nina let out a growl of frustration and went over to the door. She then turned the knob to see it was locked. “Ohh, he is so paying for this.” She then went over to his porch and sat down on the wooden chair. She looked out towards the frozen lake. “Look what Naraku’s done to this world. He’s made it his own little world. Making it snow when he wants, making it sunny when he wants. He is so greedy. And…” Her eyes darted to the floor. “… He’s changed Inukai.” She brought her knees up to her chest and hugged them as she hid her face behind her knees and her hair covered the sides of her face hiding her face from the world. Tears filled her eyes. Inukai wouldn’t have made me his slave if he hadn’t been around Naraku. Inukai doesn’t love me. He absolutely hates me. She began crying. It’s not fair. I want my old life back!

Inukai entered Kanna’s room again closing the door behind him. He then sat down on her bed muttering something that sounded like ungrateful stupid wench.

Kanna raised an eyebrow, but didn’t say anything as she added the petals of a cherry blossom to the potion. “It’s almost done.”

Inukai grunted. “Good. I want to know if she was lying to me the whole time. Dad being evil and me and some other half-dog demon killing him. Yeah, right. Dad isn’t evil.”

Kanna frowned and threw in another ingredient.

“I am so beating you,” Anna said.

                                    “You wish,” Max said.

She and Max were playing Super Smash Brothers Melee and Anna was being Browser while Max was being Adult Link.

“Die!” Anna said throwing a bomb at him.

“No! You die!” Max cried throwing the hook shot at her.

                                    Just then, the doorbell rang.

Anna paused the game. “I’ll get it.”

“Okay,” Max said. “And I shall wait ‘till you return, my beloved Anna.”

Anna rolled her eyes. “Whatever.” She went over to the door and opened it to see Kagome and Inuyasha. “Can I help you?”

“It’s me,” Kagome said. “Don’t you remember?”

Anna shook her head. “No. I don’t know you.”

Inuyasha grunted. “She doesn’t remember us? She has even worse memory than I thought.”

Anna shot him a glare. “Watch it or I’ll hurt you.”

                                    Inuyasha just grunted again.

“Can we come in?” Kagome asked.

                                    Anna sighed. “Okay.”

“There! Completed!” Kanna said smiling and pouring the potion into a small glass. She then handed the glass to Inukai. “Just drink it.”

Inukai sniffed it and quickly covered his nose. “Yuck, it smells. What are you trying to do? Poison me?”

Kanna gave him a look. “Do you want to see the past or not?”

Inukai sighed and held his breath as he began drinking the potion. He immediately saw everything that had happened when he first met Nina and Anna then Inuyasha and the others. His eyes widened and then the scenes all began to slow. He then saw Nina kiss him on the cheek. He then saw everything that happened up to when Nina made her wish to purify the jewel. The scene then changed back to normal and he found himself back in Kanna’s room. “She was telling the truth.”

“She was?” Kanna asked as she poured the remains of the potion in a container.

Inukai nodded. “Well, later, sis. I gotta go check on her.”

Kanna raised an eyebrow, but didn’t ask as her brother left her room.

Nina wiped her tears away and began singing No More Words and to her surprise, she found she sounded very good despite the fact she had been crying.

                                    Probably, probably we

                                    Learn as we live

                                    And then we live

                                    Forget as we live.

                                    Things with a beginning

                                    Will end someday

If you can go to the next

                                    Putting everything.

If this world, the winners and losers

If it will split into two

I want to be the loser

I want to be a loser always.

                                    Probably, probably we

Are beautiful so much, we are sad

                                    As time passes, we

Get contaminated so much, we are sad.

Inukai heard singing and followed it.

For the things that must be protected

                                    I sacrifice something again today

                                    Those going to the next

                                    All of that.

If this world, the winners and losers

If it will split into two

I want to be the loser

I want to be a loser always.

                                    What can I tell you?

Only being such a small self

I won’t tell you more now

                                    Because the words are so

                                    Weak against time.

Nina finished the song and let out a sigh as she looked towards the lake again. She then heard clapping and spun around to see Inukai who was smiling.

“Bravo, bravo,” Inukai said. “You know, you could sing happier songs, though.”

Nina shot him a glare and stood up. She then went over to him and pointed a threatening finger at his chest. “Listen, you, I am not going to do a thing you tell me to do. Are we clear on that?”

Inukai gave her a puzzled look. “Huh? What do-“

Just then the door opened and Seth walked in.

Inukai looked down at Nina and pointed a threatening finger at Nina. “You will do as I say or I’ll see to it that you are punished, got that?!”

                                    Seth rolled his eyes.

Nina looked into Inukai’s eyes as fear began to fill her. He’s not Inukai. He wouldn’t say such a thing. Tears filled her eyes. She then turned and ran out of the room passed a very bored Seth.

Inukai crossed his arms and growled. “Stupid slave. She doesn’t know anything.” He then looked towards his half brother. “Don’t you ever knock?”

Seth grunted. “Dad told me to tell you that dinner’s going to be ready in three minutes and, since you have a new slave, you should bring her to dinner to eat with us so she can get acquainted with the people she will be serving from time to time.”

“Oh,” Inukai said. “Well, no problem. I mean, she’s a little disobedient, but I can get her out of that little habit.”

                                    Seth just grunted and left.

Inukai sighed and left his room to search for Nina.

Nina ran down the halls, down the stairs, down another hall, down another set of stairs, down another hall, pass a door, and soon found herself in a garden underneath the stars and moon. She sat underneath a tree and began crying. “He’s a big jerk. He never cared for me from the beginning. This is all just some big sick joke of his. That big creep! I wish I never met him! He made me fall in love with him and this is what he had in store for me all along!” She began sobbing. “I want to go back home.”

Inukai passed several rooms checking every one of them for Nina.

“Looking for someone?” a voice asked.

Inukai spun around to see Kaede who was dressed in an apron and maid’s clothing. “Oh, Kaede, I’m so glad you’re here. Have you seen a girl with long brown hair, brown eyes, a little shorter than me, and wearing a skirt and white shirt?”

Kaede nodded. “Ye would see her in the gardens.”

Inukai nodded and ran off towards the garden. “Thanks, Grandma Kaede!”

Kaede only smiled as she waved to the hanyou.

Nina wiped her tears away and looked up at the moon. She then shivered and began rubbing her arms to keep them from becoming numb from the winter night’s chill. She then felt warm cloth drape over her shoulders. She looked up to see Inukai and that he had put his orange shirt on her. She covered herself and continued looking up at the full moon. “Thanks.”

Inukai took a seat next to her. “No problem.”

Nina sighed and looked up at Inukai as he looked up at the stars. “So, what did your brother want?”

“Nothing really,” Inukai said keeping his gaze on the stars. “Just said that dinner was going to start in three minutes.”

                                    “Inukai?” Nina asked.

                                    “Yeah?” Inukai asked.

“I think three minutes already passed,” Nina said.

“What?!” Inukai cried quickly standing. “Ahh, damn it! Dad’s gonna kill me!” He quickly grabbed Nina’s hand.

“Hey!” Nina protested, but didn’t really mind as his hand was warm and hers was cold.

“Come on. I have to bring you with me,” Inukai said.

Nina sighed and nodded as she stood up.

The two began running down to the dining room.

“And that’s when everything got strange,” Kagome said as she finished explaining how she and Inuyasha knew Anna and everything else that had happened before Nina had made her wish to purify the jewel.

                                    Anna and Max nodded wide-eyed.

“Nina, didn’t tell us any of those moments she had with Inukai,” Max said. “Hmm, he must be quite the man to win such maidens as her.”

                                    “Great. Another Miroku,” Inuyasha muttered.

Kagome sweat dropped. “Umm, right. Anyway, do you know where Nina is right now?”

“In bed, most likely,” Anna said.

Kagome and Inuyasha nodded then left to find out where Nina lived.

                                    “Strange folks,” Max muttered.

                                    Anna nodded.

Inukai and Nina burst into the dining room to see that everyone was about to eat.

“Umm, sorry I’m late,” Inukai said as he nervously scratched the back of his head. “I had stuff to take care of.”

Naraku looked towards Nina with cold eyes.

Nina looked towards Naraku and quickly took her eyes away from him and looked towards Inukai nervously.

Inukai took Nina’s hand and led her to where she would be sitting. He then took his seat next to her.

Nina looked around the dining room to see a diamond chandelier with lit candles on it. She then looked around the table to see it was made of a deep color of mahogany. The goblets were made of pure gold and had several jewels going around them. The silverware was pure silver. The napkins were green and made of silk and were inside the goblets. She then looked at the many people who were sitting at the table.

Seth was sitting right next to Naraku. Next to Naraku and across from Seth was Inukai. Next to Inukai, obviously, was Nina. Next to her was Kanna. Kanna sat next to Riku. Next to Riku were several guards. At the end of the row was Inukai’s mother. Next to her was Seth’s mother. Next to her was Kagura. Next to her were several more guards. Across from Kanna was Demon. Between Seth and Demon was Alendria.

                                    Nina looked up at Inukai.

Inukai took his napkin out of his goblet and placed it on his lap. Nina then saw that everyone was doing the same. She quickly grabbed her napkin and copied them. Inukai saw this, smiled and nodded.

“Okay. You got it,” Inukai whispered.

“Ahem,” Naraku said clearing his throat. “Inukai, I see you have a new slave. Tell me, what is her name?”

                                    “Her name is-“

“Rosalyn,” Nina quickly said. “But you may call me Rosa.”

Inukai looked down at her with a questioning look. “Rosalyn?”

Nina gave him a look that said go with it.

“I asked Inukai. Not you, stupid slave,” Naraku said giving her a disapproving look.

Nina felt her anger begin to rise then looked towards Inukai to see him frowning.

Inukai growled. “Woman, you are not to speak unless spoken to! Am I clear?”

Nina looked down at the ground as tears began to fill her eyes. “S-sorry.”

Inukai looked towards his father to see him nod.

The doors then opened and several waitresses walked in carrying trays that held several foods. They were then closely followed behind by waiters who carried pitchers filled with wine.

Nina looked at all the food that was put down on the table. Her mouth began watering. She saw that everyone was picking out what they wanted to eat. She then did the same and placed it on her plate. A waiter came by her.

“Ma’am, what will it be?” the waiter asked. “Red wine or the famous Blackberry wine?”

“Uhh, sorry. I don’t drink,” Nina said nervously. “I’m only sixteen. Umm, do you have any soda? If not, then just give me milk.”

The waiter grunted and went over to Kanna muttering something that sounded oddly like slaves shouldn’t be aloud to sit with those of royalty.

Nina wanted to hit the waiter, but restrained herself from doing so.

A couple of minutes later, Kaede came through the door and gave Nina some milk.

“Thank you, Lady Kaede,” Nina said smiling knowing that Kaede was one of the few people she could actually trust that wasn’t underground.

Kaede smiled warmly. “No need for thanks, child, but ye is very welcome.”

Nina’s smile widened. Inukai also smiled as Kaede left.

“So, you’ve met Kaede, I take it,” Inukai said.

“Am I being spoken to?” Nina asked feeling hurt again at the thought of her being only a slave and nothing more.

                                    Inukai grunted. “Yes, you are.”

“Well, then, yeah, I met Kaede,” Nina simply said and began drinking her milk. In the Feudal Era is where I really met her.

And so the night went on with them eating in the dining room and Nina actually got to eat food she would never have eaten unless she had gone to an expensive restaurant.
