Inuyasha: The Prophecies

Chapter One

                                    A sixteen-year-old girl ran down the streets of LA passing numerous demons as they all shot her glares. She ignored them, turned a corner and began running down the alley. She soon found herself in a dead end and turned around to see the demon that had been chasing her. She couldn’t make out what kind of demon it was as it was night and the sky was cloudy. All she could tell was that it had spikes going down its spine, had clawed hands, and long fangs that hung out of its lower jaw. The demon raised a clawed hand and went in for the kill. The girl screamed.

                                    Nina yawned and stretched as she woke up that morning. She groaned and got out of bed. She then went over to her closet and grabbed out her school uniform. It was similar to Kagome’s except it had a blue skirt instead of green and the sailor part was also blue. She then put on her black dress shoes, brushed her hair, and began running to school.

                                    It was a year after she had made her wish to purify the Shikon Jewel making her sixteen years old and in the tenth grade. She was surprised she had passed the ninth grade after how long she was gone from school. Though, she had made her wish and it had come true, the jewel didn’t disappear and things had gone horribly wrong. To start things off, she was forced back to her world and could no longer go to Inuyasha’s time. The same had happened to Sota, Sharon, Anna, and Inukai. Second, they didn’t remember a thing that had happened and Inukai was the biggest jerk ever. Third, demons had taken over the world and Naraku had lived and he was king of the world. Before that had happened, Nina had moved down to LA despite the fact she didn’t want to which meant she was away from her friends to protect them from the bad demons that seeked to destroy all of humanity or make humans slaves. To make matters worse, due to demons taking over the world, humans now had to live underground away from the demons even though they didn’t know it. Nina was training her demon powers secretly not wanting anyone to know she was half demon since it was, according to mostly everyone, the demons’ faults that they all had to live underground. When it came to her priestess powers, she trained them in the kendo dojo.

                                    All of this only added to her misery. When she had moved down to LA before everything had happened, she was unhappy because she couldn’t see her best friends anymore, the one person she thought she had fallen in love with hurt her deeply, and there was really nothing to do in LA as far as she knew since whenever she went there she practically died of boredom from visiting her relatives that lived there. Naraku and the demons taking over the world made her even more miserable since she was half dog demon and everyone would hate her if they knew. Then they had to live underground because of it all so they wouldn’t get killed or captured. Nina knew she could take on any demons due to her priestess and demon powers, but she knew she wouldn’t fit in if she didn’t act human. She wasn’t even sure if her best friends would still be friends with her anymore. Now, she was all alone with the Shikon Jewel that she still wore around her neck making it her job to protect it. She wanted to go back to the day she had met Inuyasha. Back then, she had had an even better life. It was less complicated and now it was totally complicated. She was totally stressed now, especially since she was getting a lot of homework lately and she hadn’t been paying attention in class due to all her worries and fears and misery.

                                    Nina sighed as she reached her school. She quickly went to her chemistry class and took her seat just in time as the late bell rang. Nina let out a sigh of relief. Okay. Good. I’m not late.

                                    Naraku looked down at his guards dully. “Do you have any of Inuyasha’s comrades or even Inuyasha?”

                                    “No, my lord,” the t-rex looking demon guard said.

                                    Naraku frowned. “Very well. Leave me.”

                                    The guard bowed and left.

                                    Naraku sighed. Well, he and his allies haven’t given me any trouble yet, so, I suppose I don’t have anything to worry about.

                                    Inukai walked down the palace halls. He passed several doors then spotted Seth walk out from one of them. He raised a questioning eyebrow and went over to his half brother. “And what were you doing in there?”

                                    Seth gave him a look. “None of your business, hanyou. I don’t even know why father keeps you here. You’re such a pain.”

                                    “Feh. Well, so are you,” Inukai said smirking.

                                    “Aren’t you supposed to be at school?” Seth asked.

                                    “I could ask you the same thing,” Inukai said.

                                    Seth turned his back to Inukai. “Whatever.” He then left his half brother.

                                    Inukai just continued smirking. “Yeah. That’s what I thought. You walk away.” He then turned around and stared at the door Seth had walked out of. “Hmm, I wonder what he was doing in there.” He put his hand on the knob and turned it to find it was locked. He sighed. “Stupid brother doesn’t trust me very much, does he.” He turned back around and began going down the hall with his arms crossed.

                                    Nina began drawing as the teacher began speaking about something she obviously wasn’t really paying attention to. How can they not remember anything about everything we went through? She then heard screaming and shouting. She looked towards her teacher.

                                    The teacher looked towards the door. He then looked back towards the students. “Don’t worry. It’s nothing. If it was, they would’ve sounded the alarm.”

                                    Nina looked towards the door nervously hoping her teacher was right.

                                    Anna stared daggers at the boy that had dared to touch her on her behind. “Get away from me, you-you-you pervert.”

                                    The boy who looked no older than her sighed and ran a hand through his long black hair that was tied back in a ponytail like Miroku’s. He had blue eyes and had the same colored skin as Anna. He wore his green school uniform that looked similar to the clothes Yuskue (from Yu Yu Hakusho) wore and black shoes. He smiled.

                                    “Now, now, I am not that at all,” the boy said. He held out his hand still smiling as Anna slowly backed away. “The name’s Max. Max Houshi.”

                                    Anna raised an eyebrow. “Doesn’t houshi mean monk in English?”

                                    Max nodded still holding out his hand. “And your name would be?”

                                    Anna turned her back to him. “None of your business. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to get to class.”

                                    “Very well. We shall meet again, my dear None of Your Business,” Max said smiling all the more.

                                    Anna wanted to turn around and hit the boy, but decided not to as she had just transferred to the school and didn’t want to get into trouble on her first day at a new school. Instead, she quickly ran to class.

                                    Nina watched the door getting ready to pull her bow and arrows out of her backpack as the teacher nervously taught the class. The door then opened with incredible speed and hit the wall with a bang. Entering the room was a very steamed Anna followed closely by a very happy Max. Nina’s eyes lit up when she saw her best friend, but was puzzled why she was mad.

                                    The teacher spotted the two teens and let out a sigh of relief. “Class, these are your two new classmates. Anna and Max. If you two would please tell them where you’re transferring from.”

                                    Anna shot everyone a dark look as she spoke. “I’m coming from the desert. A place you probably don’t know about called Twenty-nine Palms.”

                                    “And I am from Tokyo, Japan. The coolest place on Earth,” Max said still smiling as he looked at everyone in the class or, to be more specific, all the girls in the class winking at all those he found quite beautiful including Nina who kind of freaked out about it.

                                    “Well, Anna, take a seat next to Nina and Max, you take a seat behind Anna,” the teacher said.

                                    Anna and Max did as they were told.

                                    “So, tell me, what do you have next,” Max asked still smiling.

                                    Anna turned around and gave him a glare. “None. Of. Your. Business!”

                                    Nina frowned and looked towards her best friend. She then smiled. “I’m so glad you’re here. Things have been so boring since I left you and Sharon.”

                                    Anna turned to face Nina and nodded. “Same back where I live.” She then looked down at her desk. “But my parents have been killed and my brother, Kyle, has been kidnapped.”

                                    “Demons?” Nina asked.

                                    Anna nodded. “I escaped and have been searching for you and my brother ever since.”

                                    Nina nodded. She knew little brothers were annoying, but all older sisters cared for them despite that. “Do you know what kind of demons?” She knew that Anna would’ve eventually had to find out that she was from a long line of demon exterminators.

                                    “They were cat demons,” Anna said. “They prefer the Japanese name as neko demons, instead of the English, though. Their leader’s name was Nekaira.”

                                    Nina nodded. “If I find out anything about the leader, I’ll be sure to inform you.” She didn’t lose her family before I made the wish. Why does she now lose them? Why have the demons taken over the world? How did Naraku survive? Why has everything gone so terribly wrong?

                                    Just then, the door opened again. Entering the classroom was a boy about Nina and Anna’s age. He had dirty blonde hair that reached his shoulders with bangs that almost covered his eyes and brown eyes. He wore the same school uniform as Max and white tennis shoes.

                                    “Oh. You must be Talon,” the teacher said looking towards the boy.

                                    Nina’s eyes widened. That’s Sharon’s older brother! That means Sharon’s here! She smiled. That means we’re all back together again.

                                    Anna was smiling, too and looked towards Nina. “Sharon must be here, too.”

                                    Nina nodded. “Exactly what I was thinking. Shikon no Tama is back together.”

                                    “Class, this is Talon who also transferred from Twenty-nine Palms,” the teacher said. “Take a seat next to Max.”

                                    Talon nodded and did so.

                                    “Talon is sitting to your left. Don’t get dragged into the conspiracy,” Nina said smiling and trying to keep herself from giggling.

                                    “I won’t and I’m saying the same thing to you,” Anna said also smiling and trying to not giggle.

                                    She, Nina, and Sharon made a joke about Talon making a conspiracy that causes you to become quiet and make everyone do the same thing as him and ever since they’ve been saying that Talon was leading a conspiracy and to not get dragged into it. It was their little joke and they would always talk about it when Talon was around, but always whispered it if he was too close.

                                    “Hmm, you two wouldn’t happen to be whispering about me, now would you?” Max asked the two girls.

                                    “As if,” Anna said.

                                    “No. Sorry. I don’t like guys that are like Miroku, but my friend here does,” Nina said smiling and pointing a finger at Anna.

                                    Anna shot her a glare. “I do not like that pervert like that.”

                                    Nina smiled and crossed her arms. “Sure.”

                                    Max’ smile widened. “Ahh, so then you do love me.”

                                    “Give me a break,” Anna said turning to face him. “I just met you and I already know I’m not going to fall head over heels for you.”

                                    Yeah, right, Nina thought. Sango’s whole family falls in love with guys like Miroku. I just know it.

                                    Inukai walked down the cold wet streets of LA that afternoon. It was the beginning of January and snow was beginning to fall and cover the streets. He sighed and knew it was Naraku who was making it snow. Naraku could control the weather and he just wanted the Shikon Jewel to become a full demon then he would truly rule the world. Inukai didn’t care, though, even if he was a half dog demon, he still didn’t want to become a full demon. He didn’t want to end up like his father.

                                    “I think it’s wrong to imprison humans if they didn’t do anything wrong, but Father makes it like that,” Inukai said. “Everyone must obey him, but those who are imprisoned are treated so badly. And if they disobey the demons, the human gets punished and may even get killed. It’s wrong.” He then remembered Nina and her friends. “I was a jerk to her and them, but I hope they’re okay. I really do. And I hope Sota’s okay, too.” He then heard noise coming from an ally. He went down it out of curiosity and saw it was coming from the sewers. He took the bar off and entered the sewers. He quickly covered his sensitive nose with the sleeve of his orange shirt. “Aack, it stinks in here.” He then heard a couple of voices talking about how cruel demons are and someone named Jessie that had been killed by one. He let out a low growl and followed the voices to see whom they belonged to. He stopped as soon as he saw two figures carrying a third figure. One he could make out was a girl and the others was a boy and they both were carrying a girl’s body that was horribly torn. Inukai could still smell the blood as well as the scent of the demon that had killed the girl. He sighed and looked down a tunnel that ran the opposite.

                                    Well, I’ll take my chances. After all, humans are weak compared to me, Inukai thought and began running down the opposite tunnel.

                                    Nina sighed as she began walking home with Anna who was being pestered by Max.

                                    “Can you be so kind as to at least give me you phone number, oh dear Anna?” Max asked.

                                    Anna grunted. “And risk you calling me every day? Not happening.”

                                    “Why are you so cruel?” Max asked pretending to cry.

                                    Anna frowned. “I’m still not giving you my number.”

                                    “Please?” Max asked.

                                    “Just give up. She’s not going to give her number to you,” Nina said.

                                    “Oh! Why is fate so cruel?” Max said placing both hands over his heart and looking up at where the sky would be if they weren’t underground.

                                    “You are so dramatic,” Anna muttered.

                                    Nina giggled then looked up ahead. Her eyes widened in surprise. Standing ahead of her and the others was Inukai who was looking around in awe.

                                    “This place, it’s so big,” Inukai said as he looked around. “You gotta give humans some sorta credit for all this stuff. It’s no wonder it’s so hard to find a human now.” He then turned around to see four humans coming his way.

                                    “Oh, my gosh,” Nina said stopping in her tracks.

                                    “What is it?” Anna asked stopping also.

                                    “And you hit me for no reason, and you treat me so rudely, and-” Max stopped going down his list of what Anna’s done to him since they met. “That’s a half dog demon.”

                                    Anna reached into her backpack grabbing out a sword. “He’s going down if he thinks he’s going to capture any of us or kill us.”

                                    “I agree,” Max said reaching into his backpack also grabbing out a sword.

                                    “That’s… Inukai,” Nina said.

                                    Inukai began walking towards them.

                                    “He won’t harm us, will he?” Nina asked.

                                    “He will. All demons are the same,” Anna said.

                                    Max didn’t say didn’t say anything and just held his sword in front of him.

                                    Inukai stopped right in front of the three. “Nina, is that you?”

                                    “Inukai… Yes, it’s me,” Nina said.

                                    “You know him?!” Anna demanded still holding her sword in front of herself.

                                    “He’s a friend, not foe,” Nina said.

                                    Max sheathed his sword. “Name’s Max. A friend of this beautiful lady is a friend of mine.” He held out his hand smiling.

                                    Inukai gave him a look. “She’s not beautiful. She’s hideous and the name’s Inukai.”

                                    “I am not hideous!” Nina protested and looked down at the ground as tears began to fill her eyes. “I’m not.”

                                    Inukai frowned, but didn’t say anything. He then smelled salt water and knew she was crying. What the-Why is she crying?

                                    “Why are you such a jerk?” Nina asked as the tears went down her face. “I mean, you were a lot nicer before I made that stupid wish. And now everything’s messed up and it’s probably all my fault.”

                                    Inukai, Anna, and Max stared at her in confusion.

                                    “We shouldn’t have tried to purify the jewel. We should’ve just left it,” Nina said.

                                    “Jewel? What jewel?” Inukai asked.

                                    “Do you mean the Jewel of Four Souls?” Anna asked.

                                    “The Scared Jewel?” Max asked. “I have heard of such a thing.”

                                    Nina took the jewel off her neck and held it out in her hand. “This is the Shikon no Tama.”

                                    Max and Anna looked at it with interest. Inukai just shrugged and looked at Nina’s tearstained face.

                                    Hmm, I wonder, Inukai thought. “Nina, can you explain everything to me? I want to know everything. Now.”

                                    Nina nodded and put the Shikon Jewel back around her neck. “Let’s go to my house.”

                                    Kagome turned a corner as she began walking home from work. She let out a sigh. “Poor Inuyasha, he has to stay cooped up in the house because of all this.” She sighed and reached her house. She then opened the door and went straight up to her room and dropped her bag on the floor. She then went downstairs and entered the kitchen to see Inuyasha eating ramen. “Hey, Inuyasha, I’m obviously home.”

                                    Inuyasha looked up from his food and at Kagome. “Great! I heard Max, Anna, and Sharon have moved down here. That’s good.”

                                    “Max? Who’s Max?” Kagome asked.

                                    “You mean Koga never told you?” Inuyasha asked.

                                    “Tell me what?” Kagome asked.

                                    “Well, Max is Koga’s great great great great great really great grandson,” Inuyasha said and began eating his ramen again.

                                    “Oh,” Kagome said.

                                    Inuyasha looked up from his food again. “Max is half human and half wolf demon. I don’t think he knows.”

                                    “Well, why don’t we go find out where Sharon, Anna, and Max live so we can pay them a visit?” Kagome asked.

                                    “Okay,” Inuyasha said returning to eating his ramen. “When I’m done eating, we’ll go.”

                                    Kagome sweat dropped and shook her head. “What ever you say.”

                                    “And then I made the wish,” Nina said. “Next thing I know, it’s the next day and I’m at home and late for school. A year later, and Naraku comes back and takes over the world. It wasn’t supposed to happen this way.” She looked down at the ground as tears began to fill her eyes.

                                    Anna nodded while Max raised an eyebrow.

                                    Inukai looked up at the ceiling trying to comprehend everything Nina had said. So, we were in Feudal Japan fighting demons and a demon named Nara- my father! He was the demon we fought and killed. How can that be when my father is still alive? This is so confusing.

                                    Nina continued looking down at the ground. Everything is all wrong. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. We were all supposed to live happily side by side with demons, not hate them and fear them and despise them.

                                    “Nina, it’s time for your friends to go home,” Nina’s mother said from the kitchen.

                                    Nina nodded and stood up. “Well, come on. I’ll lead you out.” She led them to the door.

                                    “Well, sayonara,” Anna said and began going home.

                                    “I must now take my leave, oh fair Nina, but I shall be back,” Max said and ran off to catch up with Anna.

                                    Inukai grunted and crossed his arms. “Hey, Nina?”

                                    “Yeah?” Nina asked.

                                    “I’m sorry if I hurt you, you know when we met and everything,” Inukai said.

                                    Nina looked down at the ground then had an idea. She looked up at Inukai. “Hey, do you want to join Sharon, Anna, and my band? We’re called The Shikon no Tama.”

                                    Inukai smiled. “Yeah. Sure. I guess. Well, later.” He ran off before anyone else could see him.

                                    Nina smiled and closed the door. She then went to her room to start her homework.

                                    Inukai entered the palace and went straight to the throne room. He stopped as soon as had had entered it to see three cat demons talking to Naraku.    

                                    One had long black hair that reached her waist, blue cat eyes, had two black stripes beneath her eyes, and had elfish ears. She wore a long white gown that was ripped at the shoulders, a brown belt, and Japanese styled sandals. She carried a white staff with a sapphire colored jewel on the top.

                                    The second one had short blonde hair that reached his shoulders, golden cat eyes, had one black stripe underneath his eyes, had elfish ears, and had one golden earring he wore on his left ear. He wore a blue short-sleeved shirt, tanned shorts, white socks, and white tennis shoes. He had a sword hanging loosely off his brown belt.

                                    The last one was most likely the youngest of the three as she was the shortest and was probably eleven years old. She had short black hair with blue highlights that reached her shoulders, blue green cat eyes, two white stripes beneath her eyes, and elfish ears. She wore amethyst colored earrings, a blue gown that reached her knees, and Japanese styled sandals. She had a bow and quiver filled with arrows on her back.

                                    “So, you’ve caught the boy?” Naraku asked.

                                    “Yes, we have,” the one with the long black hair said.

                                    “And you killed his family?” Naraku asked.

                                    “Yes, every one of them,” the blonde head one said bowing.

                                    “Very well,” Naraku said getting ready to dismiss them until he spotted Inukai. “Ahh, son, please come over here.”

                                    Inukai did as the blonde head and the one with the long black hair let out low hisses.

                                    “Yeah? What is it?” Inukai asked once he reached his father.

                                    “I would like to introduce you to the neko demons that will be helping us out,” Naraku said. “This is Lady Nekaira.”

                                    The one with the long black hair just gave Inukai a look.

                                    “Lord Nekono.”

                                    The one with the blonde hair just looked away.

                                    “And Lady Emerald.”

                                    The youngest one smiled and waved.

                                    “And Lady Nekaira, Lord Nekono, and Lady Emerald, let me introduce you to my son, Inukai,” Naraku said.

                                    Nekaira gave Naraku a look that plainly said she didn’t care.

                                    Lord Nekono grunted and muttered something that sounded like all dog demons and including half dog demons were all trash.

                                    Emerald smiled. “Hi! Nice to meetcha!”

                                    Nekaira and Nekono gave Emerald a disapproving look. The two then looked towards Naraku.

                                    “You’ll have to forgive our daughter, she is… young,” Nekaira said.

                                    Naraku nodded and looked out the window.

                                    Inukai leaned over and whispered into his father’s ear. “Can I leave now? I just remembered I have a lot of homework.”

                                    Naraku nodded and Inukai quickly left the throne room.

                                    Homework? Yeah, right. Like I would do that kind of stuff, Inukai thought. He went down the hall, up the stairs, down another hall, and stopped in front of a door. He knocked. “Yo, Kanna, you there?”

                                    Kanna opened her door. “What is it?”

                                    “Well, umm, there’s something I want to know,” Inukai said and began explaining Nina’s story to Kanna.

                                    Nina lied down on her bed. “I miss the stars and moon so much. I miss the forest and all its trees that we slept in the Feudal Era. I miss the Feudal Era. I miss everything and everyone in it.” Tears began to fill her eyes as she turned on her side. “Why did this have to happen? It’s not fair. I should never have tried to purify the jewel. I failed and this is what I get for doing so.” She whimpered. “I want all my friends back. I want them to remember everything.” The tears began going down her face. “Inukai, I want you back.” The Shikon Jewel began glowing and a calm voice began speaking to her as, what felt like a finger, began to caress her cheek wiping away the tears.

                                    I will always be there by your side and I haven’t left you yet, the voice said. Use the jewel. It’ll help all your friends regain their memory. Just have them touch it and they will remember everything.

                                    The voice then disappeared as well as what ever was caressing her cheek.

                                    Nina soon fell asleep dreaming about everything she and her friends had been through in the Feudal Era.

                                    “And that’s everything that happened. At least according to her,” Inukai said finishing explaining it to Kanna.

                                    Kanna nodded. “And why are you telling me this? I don’t like humans that much.”

                                    “Because I want your help,” Inukai said. “Can your mirror show the past?”

                                    Kanna frowned. “My mirror takes people’s souls, not show the past and future.”

                                    Inukai sighed. “Please, Kanna. I just want to see if any of it is true.”

                                    Kanna sighed and went into her room. She then went over to her cupboard. “Come in and close the door. I don’t want Father to know what I’m doing.”

                                    Inukai nodded and obeyed her. He then sat down on her bed. “What are you going to do?”

                                    “Make you a potion,” Kanna said as she looked through the ingredients in her cupboard. “It’ll let you see what you want in the past for a couple of minutes.”

                                    Inukai nodded and looked out the window towards the trees.
