Inuyasha: Return to the Past

            Chapter 4: The Evil Thought to be Dead

            Everyone stared wide-eyed at the person who was holding Kagome.

            “Naraku!” both Inuyashas yelled out.  “But how?”

            Naraku looked around at his audience, pleased to see fear in their eyes until he saw it.  “What?!  Two Inuyashas?!  It seems I have a little problem on my hands.”

            “How can it be?” the present Inuyasha said.  “How can you be alive?  How did you escape hell?”

            “Well, hell wasn’t exciting as it said to be, so I left.”

            “You can’t just leave hell like that!”

            “Now, let me ask you a question.  How did you survive?”

            “My half-dimwitted brother brought me back to life.”

            “Wow, never thought I would see the day.” Black said as he looked at both Inuyashas then turned his head back towards Naraku.

            “Now that all the mysteries are solved,” Naraku said.  “We can get on about what I want from you Inuyasha.”

            “What’s that?” both Inuyasha said in unison.

            “Your life,” said Naraku.  “I want our true final battle, NOW!”

            “Come down and face me than!” both Inuyashas said running in front of the hut Naraku was standing on and stopped ten feet away from it.

            “We will have our final battle,” Naraku said as miasma surrounded him and Kagome.  “Over there,” he said pointing towards the forest.  “There’s a giant opening in the middle of the forest.  Meet me there so we can have our final battle.”  With that said and done, the miasma engulfed him and Kagome as Inuyasha heard Kagome call out for him.  As the miasma cleared, Naraku and Kagome were gone.

            Both Inuyashas looked towards the forest as they both rushed into it except the past Inuyasha for Black Slash held him back.  Sango and Miroku followed the present Inuyasha as Shippo went back into the village.

            “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” yelled Inuyasha.  “I’ve got to save Kagome!”

            “Let your future self do it,” said Black.  “Besides, you’re needed here.”

            “For what?!”

            “You need to help us protect the village, just in case Naraku sends anymore minions to the village.”

            “What kind of minions?” Inuyasha asked.

            “Like those!” Nicole said, pointing at a Spider Head that was lurking towards the village.

            “Damn it!  We’re surrounded!” said Inuyasha as he looked around seeing hundreds of Spider Heads coming at them.  “Why didn’t I sense them?”

            Black dodged one of the Spider Heads extending its head at him.  “Damn they’re quick.”

            Nicole used her force field to stop another Spider Heads head that was coming at her as she saw that they were closing in.

            Rogue stood his ground, looking at the surrounding Spider Heads with his eyes.  One Spider Head in front of him jumped at him as he threw his sword off his shoulder and slashed the Spider Head while blood flew past his blade.  Then another one attacked from behind him as Rogue spun around and slashed the Spider Head as another one attack and another one.  Rogue just kept spinning towards the direction of the Spider Heads that were attacking until he killed all of them that were surrounding him.

            Inuyasha unsheathed Tetsusiaga as he slashed and cut his way through the group of Spider Heads as blood flew everywhere.

            Lightening Strike unsheathed his sword as electricity covered the blade of his katana making it glow gold like a light saber.  Lightening then pulled out his flywheels and tossed them to the side of his feet as the flywheels kicked up dust as he hovered a few inches off the ground.  Lightening then flew straight through the group of Spider Heads slicing them in half as blood sprayed all over the place.

            Black unsheathed Tensia and plowed through the Spider Heads, hacking and slashing at all the Spider Heads that got close to him.

            Inuyasha kept up the offensive as he turned to see Shippo coming towards him with a sword in his hands.

            “Inuyasha!  I want to help,” Shippo yelled.

            “No don’t Shippo!” Inuyasha yelled as he saw a Spider Head jump behind Shippo.  Before Shippo knew what was going on, it hit him.  Shippo could feel the piercing pain in his left shoulder as he saw the Spider Head’s teeth dig into his shoulder.  He then felt light headed, as everything grew dark, as he knew what just happened… he was dead.

            “Shippo!” Nicole screamed as she ran to the limped body of Shippo.  “Shippo.”  She dropped her staff as she brushed away some of Shippo’s hair that was blocking his face as tears shed down her face when she didn’t know she was being surrounded by the Spider Heads.

            “Nicole!  Get out of there!” Black yelled at the top of his lungs as he was being blocked by other Spider Heads.

            “They killed him,” Nicole said quietly.  “They killed him.”

            Everyone then stopped fighting including the Spider Heads as they all looked at Nicole.  What is that? Inuyasha thought.  That smell…what’s happening to Nicole?  Everyone watched Nicole as she started to glow red.

            “Oh no,” Black said quietly.  “This is not good.”

            “She’s changing,” Rogue said.  “We’re dead.”

            “What’s going on?” Inuyasha asked.  “What’s wrong with Nicole?  Why does she smell like a demon?”

            “Because she’s changing…” said Lightening.

            “… changing into a full blooded demon,” Black finished.

            “You killed him,” Nicole said, as her nails grew longer while her bangs covered her eyes.  “You killed him!” she said a bit louder.  “YOU KILLED HIM!!!” she yelled as she revealed her face.  Her eyes were now blood red as two ragged purple stripes were under her eyes.  Her fangs were now showing as she put one of her claws up to here face.  “You will pay.”

            Everything was now dead silent as everyone stared at Nicole and the circle of Spider Heads that surrounded her.  One Spider Head took a step back as Nicole jerked her head towards its direction.  “No one escapes!” she yelled as she slashed the Spider Head vertically with her claws.  All that was left of the Spider Head was just a few bloody chunks and blood everywhere.

            “I thought she couldn’t kill,” Inuyasha said.

            “She can’t,” Black said.  “But in her demon form, she can.”

            Then all of the Spider Heads in the village went after Nicole.

            “What’s going on?” Black asked.

            “The Spider Heads are avenging one of their comrades death,” Lightening said.

            “But we killed hundreds of them and none of them started to avenge deaths on us.”

            “They’re avenging ones death because it died to a uncontrollable hanyou who went full demon.”

            Nicole looked around her seeing all of the Spider Heads ganging up on her as she had a bloodthirsty smile on her face.  One Spider Head extended its head towards her as she caught its head with her hand.  The Spider Head was taken by surprise and tried to break free of her grip.  Nicole’s smile grew even more as she saw the Spider Head try to break free, she then crushed its head with the hand she used to grab the Spider Head’s head as blood stained her kimono and her hand.  She brought her blood stained hand to her face as she licked the blood off of one of her fingers.  “Who wants more?” Nicole asked in a hoarse voice.  Then in a blink of an eye she disappeared.

            “Where did she go?” Black asked as he looked around.  “Did she disappear?”

            “No,” Inuyasha said looking around as if he was following something.  “She’s still her.  You just can’t see her.”

            Instantly the Spider Heads were being slaughtered one by one.  Nicole then reappeared as she extended her right arm as a golden energy whip came out of the palm of her hand as she started to behead the Spider Heads with it.

            “That’s Sesshomaru’s attack,” said Inuyasha.

            “And also Nicole’s,” Black said as he stared at Nicole in horror.

            The Spider Heads then started to retreat in the same direction.  Nicole saw this as she jumped into the air.  “No one escapes!” she yelled as she put both of her hands in front of her as she used poison claw on them all as they melted away.  “And I mean no one!”  She landed gracefully and stood back up staring at what was left of the Spider Heads.

            Black, Inuyasha, Rogue, and Lightening grouped together as they stared at Nicole.  Black then broke from the group with his hands raised in the air with Tensia still in his right hand.  “Hey Nicole,” Black said a bit nervously.

            Nicole jerked her head towards Black’s direction with a fierce face that was covered in blood.  Black stopped, as he looked straight into Nicole’s blood red eyes.  “Hey Nicole, it’s me, Black.”

            The fierce look went away.  “Bl-Black?” she said with the same hoarse voice.

            “Don’t you remember me?  I’m your friend.”

            “Black.”

            “See, you remember me.”

            “Black… MY ENEMY!” Nicole yelled as she lunged at him with one of her claws raised.  Black saw this as he went to defense and blocked Nicole’s attack with Tensia.  Nicole kept up the attack slashing Tensia as Black kept up the defensive.

            “Stop this Nicole!” Black yelled.  “This is not you!”  But Nicole didn’t listen to him as she continued her onslaught.  “Please stop this!”  Nicole then jumped back landing gracefully.  “Please stop this.” Black said more softly this time.  Nicole then dropped her guard, walked up to Black Slash and placed her right hand gently on his left shoulder as she smiled at him with her fangs showing.  Black also dropped his guard as he smiled back at her thinking she was turning back to normal.

            “Can’t stop!” Nicole said as her warm smile turned back into the malicious smile she had as she jabbed her left claw straight into Black’s stomach, piercing straight through him.  She then picked him up and tossed him onto his bleeding stomach, Black tried to get up but then felt the sting of warmth of the energy whip hit his back over and over again as he fell back onto his stomach.  Everyone watched in horror, frozen to the spot as they watched Nicole whip Black over and over again as they saw Tensia transform back into a short sword.

            Inuyasha then came back to Earth and ran up to Nicole and grabbed her by her wrist, stopping her attack.  “Stop this!”  Inuyasha yelled.  Nicole released herself from Inuyasha’s grip and was about to attack Inuyasha until she stopped.  A pink aurora surrounded her as her red eyes turned back to brown and the purple stripes disappear.  She then fell to her knees as tears came down her face.

            “I can’t believe I did that,” she said.  “I can’t believe I killed him.”

            Everyone gained their poser as they ran up to Nicole.  “It’s okay Nicole,” Rogue said.  “You can resurrect people from the dead, so you can resurrect Black and Shippo.”

            “It won’t make a difference!  He’ll probably think I betrayed him just like how it was with Inuyasha and Kikyo.”

            “Don’t say that.  It wasn’t your fault.  You turned into a full demon… you couldn’t stop it, no one could.”

            Nicole then buried her face into Rogue’s chest as she started to cry.  “It’s alright,” Rogue said as he started to stroke Nicole’s hair.  “It’s okay.”

            Everyone then hung their heads mourning the death of Black until they heard groaning.  Everyone looked up at Black’s body as it started to move.  Everyone jumped back of fright as Black got back up.

            “Man Nicole,” Black said painfully.  “Ever heard of holding back your punches?”

            “Yo-you-you’re not suppose to be alive!” Inuyasha yelled at Black pointing a finger at him.

            “What?”

            “You’re supposed to be dead!  Nicole slaughtered you!”

            Black looked at Inuyasha confused then looked down at his stomach as he saw a big gaping hole in it.  “On second thought, I don’t feel so good.”  Black then collapsed onto his back.

            Nicole then smiled knowing that Black was alive and wasn’t mad at her.  “I’m glad you’re alive.” Nicole whispered.

            The Present Inuyasha ran through forest trying to sniff out Kagome.  Damn it… I can’t find her scent.  Inuyasha continued down the path he was going.  Far behind him Miroku and Sango tried to keep up.

            “Wait for us Inuyasha!” Miroku yelled but it was no use, Inuyasha continued on at the same pace he was going since he entered the forest.  “It’s no use, we’ll never catch up to him.”

            “Miroku.  Do you sense that?” Sango asked.

            “Yes.  We’re surrounded.”  Miroku and Sango looked around until they saw them.  In the shallow shadows in the trees were many Spider Heads.

            “What should we do?  Try to keep up with Inuyasha or fight off these creatures?” asked Sango.

            “Well I say-” but before Miroku could finish his answer one Spider Head attacked him by extending its head at him as Miroku dodged its attack.

            Sango fended off the Spider Heads by using her giant boomerang like a sword a cutting up the Spider Heads as they got near her.

            “Miroku!  Get Down!” Sango yelled as she raised her boomerang ready to throw it through the forest.  Miroku dropped to the ground ready for Sango’s attack to pass by when she throws it.  Sango was about to throw her boomerang until she suddenly felt a sticky substance grab her right hand that had her boomerang in.  She looked up to see a rope of webbing attached to her hand and to a tree made by a Spider Head.  “Miroku!  Help me!”

            Miroku got up to see his wife stuck.  “Sango!” Miroku ran to Sango but was blocked off by more Spider Heads.  “Get out of my way!” said Miroku as he thwacked the Spider Heads with his staff.

            Sango looked around seeing the Spider Heads closing in.  She was reaching for her sword until she felt the same sticky substance grab her other hand.  Sango looked up to see the Spider Head who was responsible as it pulled the web out of its mouth, pulled back causing Sango’s arm to be raised, and attached it to a tree.  Sango now found herself in cross-position as she heard a Spider Head land behind her.  “Miroku!  Help me!” screamed Sango as she felt the end come near.

            Miroku tried with all his might to get the Spider Heads off him but it was no use, they wouldn’t give up.  “Sango!” Miroku cried.  “No!  Sango!”

            Sango struggled with all her might trying to break free but couldn’t.  She kept trying but then felt two piercing fangs dig in the back of her neck as she felt the poison ooze into her.  “Miroku…” Sango said quietly.  Her body then went limp as the Spider Head still kept its fangs in her.

            Miroku saw what happened to his wife as he felt an uncontrollable anger within him rise.  He then knocked all the Spider Heads off him, he ran to his wife, and jabbed his staff through the Spider Heads extended neck and pulled it out as the Spider Head fell over and died.  Miroku knelt down and put one hand under her chin as he looked at her with sadden eyes.  “Sango,” he whispered as tears filled his eyes.  “Please Sango, don’t be dead.”  But Sango didn’t move at all or complemented his idiocy.  “No… No.  NO!”  Miroku looked around at the Spider Heads.  Ten left, Miroku thought.  Miroku jumped into the group of Spider Heads as he started to kill off the rest of the Spider Heads.

            Miroku finished the last of the Spider Heads as he looked back at Sango.  “I’m so sorry Sango,” he said to Sango.  “I’m sorry that I couldn’t save you.”  Miroku was about to turn back and follow Inuyasha until he felt two piercing fangs dig into the back of his neck.  Miroku acted quickly as he jabbed his staff into the neck of the unexpected Spider Head.  He felt the fangs come off but knew he was going to die.  “So… there was… one left,” Miroku said gasping for breath as he felt for every single breath he took was getting short as he looked back at Sango.  “I… shall… be joining… you soon… Sango.”  With that, Miroku died in a kneeling position next to Sango.

            Inuyasha continued down the path he was following.  “Damn it!” Inuyasha said as he continued running.  “Where are you Naraku?!”

            Naraku watched Inuyasha run through the forest blindly as Kagome stood behind him with her wrists tied by a rope that was tied to a tree.  “He’s taking too long to get here,” Naraku said a bit aggravated.

            “You just wait,” Kagome said to Naraku.  “He’ll come and he’ll kick your butt like he did last time!”

            Naraku turned to look at Kagome.  “Foolish girl.  Last time, it was a fluke.  But now he won’t stand a chance.”

            “What makes you say that?”

            “Because I know.”

            “I would like to see that.”

            Naraku looked at Kagome through the sockets of his baboon cape.  “You know what Kagome?  Inuyasha is taking too long of getting here and I’m looking for some help to get him here.  And you may be of a help.”

            “Really?  How’s-” but before she could finish her sentence, she felt an extreme pain in her stomach as she looked down to see Naraku’s claws jabbed into her as blood gushed into his hand and all over her dress.  “Inuyasha…” she whispered as everything darkened around her.

            Inuyasha blindly ran through the forest trying to find Kagome and Naraku.  He then stopped, as he smelled the scent that came across his nose.  “That’s Kagome scent.  That’s her blood.”  Inuyasha turned left and followed Kagome’s scent.  Inuyasha burst out of the forest as he spotted Naraku and Kagome.  “Naraku!”

            “You’re too late Inuyasha,” Naraku said as he turned to look at Inuyasha.  “She’s dead.”

            “No,” Inuyasha said wide-eyed.  “No!  You’re lying!”  Inuyasha looked at Kagome as her body hung limped.

            “And so is all of your friends.”

            “What?!  All of them?”

            “That’s right Inuyasha, all of your friends.”

No… Shippo, Sango, Miroku… Kagome.  Inuyasha turned his hands into fists as blood oozed out from his nails that dug into his skin.  “You will pay, Naraku.  You will pay!”  Inuyasha unsheathed Tetsusiaga as he charged at Naraku.

            Naraku jumped to the side as Inuyasha tried to slash him with Tetsusiaga.  Inuyasha charged at Naraku again as Naraku continued to dodge.

            “Come on Inuyasha,” Naraku said as he dodged another attack from Inuyasha.  “Can’t you hit me?”

            “Why don’t you stand still and find out!” Inuyasha yelled, as he was about to attack again with Tetsusiaga.  Naraku then made a quick punch into Inuyasha’s stomach making Inuyasha fly back into a tree.

            “You’ve gotten weaker over the years Inuyasha.”

            Inuyasha got back up as he got back into a fighting position.  “I’m just a bit rusty, and I’m trying to get back into fighting shape by using you as practice.”

            “Such foolish words for a man who’s going to die.”

            Inuyasha attacked again but then found his face in Naraku’s hand as miasma covered all over his face.  Inuyasha was then thrown back as he landed on his back.  Inuyasha tried to get up but then was kicked by Naraku as he flew back even farther.  Inuyasha got up again and was about to charge until he was punched back by Naraku, for some unanimous reason here was already in front of Inuyasha, as Inuyasha was knock back into a tree.

            “You’re weak Inuyasha!  How dare you face me if you can’t even land one punch on me!”  Naraku turned his back to him.

            Inuyasha hung his head down where his hair covered his eyes as he laid the blade of Tetsusiaga on the ground.  I’ve failed them. I failed them all.  Kagome, Miroku, Sango, Shippo.  I failed them all.  I can’t lose, I just can’t.  I can’t lose to him.  Inuyasha was about to lose all hope until he saw a transparent hand touch his hand.  He looked up to see Miroku, well a transparent form of Miroku.  “Miroku?”

            Naraku turned around to see the monk.  “What?  The monk?!  He supposes to be dead!”

            “Inuyasha,” the ghost of Miroku said.  “We’re all with you, till the very end, we’ll stay with you.”

            Then another transparent hand touched Inuyasha’s: it was Sango’s.  “We will never give up.  As long as this creature lives, we will not.”

            “Sango,” Inuyasha said quietly.

            “What’s happening?!” Naraku said a bit uneasy.

            Another transparent hand touched Inuyasha’s hands.  Inuyasha looked over to his right to see Kagome.  “Kagome.”

            “Inuyasha, don’t give up.  We’re all with you,” Kagome said as a transparent Shippo hopped onto her arm and put his hand on Inuyasha’s.

            “That’s right,” Shippo said.  “We’re all with you!  Friends forever!”

            Inuyasha’s frown turned into a grin as the Tetsusiaga started to glow gold.  “How could I ever doubted us,” Inuyasha said as he raised Tetsusiaga into the air.  “I shouldn’t doubt our friendship.”

            “This isn’t happening,” Naraku said.  “This isn’t happening!”

            “Now feel our wrath!” Inuyasha said as everyone helped Inuyasha with Tetsusiaga.  “Tetsusiaga’s ultimate attack,” they all said.  “Bakuryuuha!”  Inuyasha and the others slashed Tetsusiaga as a golden light emitted from Tetsusiaga and forced itself to Naraku.  Naraku blasted his miasma to it but didn’t work as it just kept going.

            “No!  I will not lose this way!” Naraku said as the Bakuryuuha drew even closer.  Naraku tried another attempt by jumping over it but fail to do so as he was engulf in the blast.

            “NO!  How can I lose this way?  I had everything planned out perfectly.”

            “Naraku,” Miroku said.  “You will never understand the true meaning of friendship-”

            “-Not with that cold heart of yours,” Kagome finished.

            As Naraku was disintegrating a grin came upon his face as he stared into space.  “Inuyasha!” he yelled.  “Heed these words: Death is only the beginning!”  With that said and done, Naraku disintegrated into nothing as the Bakuryuuha faded.

            Tetsusiaga transformed back into it’s old rusted self as he sheathed it.  He then saw the four souls of his friends starting to float away.  “Wait!” Inuyasha yelled as he chased the souls of his friends.  “Don’t leave me!”

            “Thank you Inuyasha,” Kagome said.  “Thank you for avenging our deaths.”  They then started to glow gold as a bright light flashed from them as they disappeared.

            “No Kagome!  Please don’t leave me!” Inuyasha yelled as he buried his head into the ground, closing his eyes tight, and cried.  “Please don’t leave me!”

            Back at the village, Nicole was healing Black’s wounds.  “Healing powers are your specialty,” Black said.

            “Thanks,” Nicole said as she finished up with Black.

            “We’re just glad you’re back.”

            “Yeah, a another minute of your demon form, we would probably be picked up piece by piece and stuffed into bags for coffins,” Rogue joked.

            Just when everyone got up they saw something shoot into the sky.

            “What was that?” Black asked.

            “I think it was the Shikon Jewel,” said Nicole.

            Then, out of nowhere, a bright pink light filled the whole sky.

            “What’s going on?” Rogue asked as a pink wave of light flashed everywhere around the village and the forest.  The light faded as the Shikon Jewel fell from the sky.

            “I got it!” Lightening said as he put on his flywheels and took off.  “I got it!”  He then grabbed the Shikon Jewel out of midair and landed next to Black and the others.

            “What the hell was that about?” Inuyasha asked.

            “I don’t know,” Nicole said.  “But it had to do with something.”

            The Present Inuyasha still had his eyes closed as he continued crying.

            “What are you doing Inuyasha?” it was Miroku’s voice.  “Why are you crying?”

            “Don’t be stupid,” Inuyasha said still with his eyes closed.  “You guys are dead and I won’t see you again.”

            “Um, Inuyasha.  We’re not dead.”

            “Yes you are!  I saw your souls fly away.  Yours, Sango’s, Shippo’s, and Kagome’s.”

            “Hate to break it to you Inuyasha but me, Sango, Shippo, and Kagome are not dead.  And it looks like Kagome is not happy standing there with her arms tied up to a tree.”

            Inuyasha opened his eyes, got up, and looked over to see Miroku and Sango standing next to each other.  They’re not ghosts, Inuyasha thought.  That means….  Inuyasha looked over at Kagome as he saw her alive.

            “When you’re done crying Inuyasha,” Kagome said.  “Can you let me down?”

            Inuyasha ran up to Kagome and untied her from the tree as he hugged her.  “I thought I lost you,” Inuyasha said as he stroked Kagome’s hair.  “I was so scared.”

            Kagome said nothing as she continued hugging Inuyasha.

            “How did you come back?”

            I don’t know,” Kagome said.

            “Lets just get home,” Miroku said as everyone turned around and headed home.
