Chapter Fifteen

Sota, Inukai, Kagome, Izumi, and Inuyasha took their seats in the airplane. Kagome had brought present day clothes for her daughter and Inuyasha (he had grown out of the ones she had brought him a long time ago.) Inukai had changed back into his usual normal clothes and was wearing his wig, cap, and sunglasses.

Inuyasha wore a red t-shirt, blue jeans, his Dodgers cap (that seemed to be the only thing he didn’t grow out of), and black tennis shoes.

Izumi wore a shirt that was designed like Kagome’s school uniform. The shirt was white and it was pink where the sailor part of it was, there was a red bow on it where the sailor part ended, she also wore a pink skirt that reached her knees, white socks that went just a little higher than her ankles, and black dress shoes. Kagome made it so Izumi’s hair covered her dog ears making it look like she had Sailor Moon’s hair do. The rest of hair, of course, was down.

“I’m going to America. Never been there before, but it’s going to be so cool,” Sota sang.

Kagome frowned and looked towards Inukai. “So, where are your other band members?”

“Oh. They’re already in America,” Inukai said. “You know, in LA, California. The opening band is called The Shikon no Tama. I mean, honestly, who names their band The Jewel of Four Souls?”

Sota stopped singing and looked towards his friend raising an eyebrow, but shrugged it off.

“This is going to be so cool!” Anna exclaimed. “We’re actually going to LA to perform!”

Nina frowned, but didn’t say anything. She had been in LA many times to visit her relatives, so it wasn’t like she hadn’t been there before. The only thing she was excited about was their performance.

“And we’re going to be on the stage once The Dogs of Doom are done with the opening,” Sharon said. She groaned. “Why couldn’t we have a name as cool as that?”

                                      “Yeah?” Anna asked.

Nina rolled her eyes. “Because we’re the Shikon no Tama. Plus, The Dogs of Doom sounds stupid.”

“No, it doesn’t!” the two said.

Nina rolled her eyes again. “Whatever.”

“Wow! We’re finally in LA!” Sota cried looking around.

Inukai growled and grabbed him by the ear. “Practice and concert first. Then sight seeing.”

Sota groaned as Inukai let him go.

“You guys have free backstage passes and tickets,” Inukai said handing them to Inuyasha, Izumi, and Kagome. “Be here at 6 ‘o clock sharp.”

The three nodded and proceeded off to do something in the meantime.

Nina, Sharon, and Anna finally reached the place of destination, which happened to be the Rose Bowel. They grabbed their instrument cases and went into the area that led to the stage.

“Hey, girls, it’s nice to see you again,” a voice said.

Nina and the others turned around to see a man with brown hair and brown eyes. He wore a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and brown shoes.

                                      “Hey, Hojo,” Anna muttered.

Nina looked towards the man again when Anna had mentioned Hojo. Her eyes widened when she realized it really was Hojo. “What’s he doing here?”

Anna and Sharon looked at her puzzled.

“He’s the guy who always does the sound effects and so on forth for us,” Anna said.

“He’s Hojo,” Nina hissed. “The dimwitted guy who likes Kagome.”

“Hey. That’s not very nice,” Sharon said.

“Well, it’s the truth,” Nina muttered.

“Whatever,” Anna said. “Let’s go get our costumes and make up done.”

Inukai and Sota entered the door that led to the stage.

“Hi. And who would you two be?” a voice asked.

The two boys turned around to see Hojo.

“I’m Inukai and this is Sota,” Inukai said.

“And we’re The Dogs of Doom,” Sota said.

“Should’ve changed that to Hell,” Inukai muttered.

                                      “Huh?” Sota asked.

“Nothing,” Inukai said sighing. “Let’s go get our costumes and everything else done.”

Nina, Sharon, and Anna entered the changing room to see a woman with long black hair and brown eyes. She wore a white long sleeved shirt, red pants, and black boots.

The woman sighed and got up. “I will be your new hairdresser.”

Sharon groaned. “What happened to Mercillia?”

“She retired,” the woman said. “I am known as Kikyo.”

                                      The three girls’ eyes widened.

“K-K-Kikyo?” all three of them asked.

“Yes, that is my name,” Kikyo said. “Now, if you three are done being so surprised, let’s get to the hair, costumes, and make up.”

Inukai and Sota entered the changing room to see a man with black hair that was tied back in a braid that reached his waist and medium brown eyes. He wore a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and gray tennis shoes.

The man stood up. “Ahh, you two must be Inukai and Sota. Nice to meet you. I am Hiten.”

“Hey,” Inukai said in a very dull voice.

                                      “What happened to-“

                                      “Your previous dresser?” Hiten asked.

                                      Sota nodded.

“Manten couldn’t take it anymore and so turned the job to me,” Hiten said.

“I look awesome!” Sharon said as she looked at herself in the mirror. She wore a black tank top, black cammy pants, and black boots. She wore two black wrist bands with spikes on both wrists and had black highlights in her hair. She had two black stripes underneath each of her eyes and had black mascara on. She also wore black shades.

“I look totally cool, too!” Anna cried as she also viewed herself in the mirror. She wore a black t-shirt, back pants, and black tennis shoes. She wore a spiked choker around her neck and wore a chain. She also wore a golden chain around her neck with a big “A” at the end of it. She had her up in a ponytail with red highlights and wore black fingerless gloves. She had three red stripes on her cheek and wore red mascara. She also wore black shades.

Nina smiled as she looked into the mirror. She wore a white long sleeve shirt that was slightly cut at the shoulders, a long flowing green skirt that reached her ankles, white tights, white strapless heels, and had her hair pulled back in a half ponytail and was tied back with a green ribbon. She wore white lip gloss and wore a diamond pendant. Thank goodness Kikyo didn’t make me wear dark colors.

“Now, Sharon and Anna are to stay hidden in the darkness until it comes to the chorus that way you two can take the audience by surprise,” Kikyo said.

                                      The two girls nodded.

“Nina, you are to act like everything was just the way it had started,” Kikyo said. “Don’t stop singing even if they surprise you.”

                                      “Got it,” Nina said.

“I am so the bomb!” Inukai said as he looked into the mirror. He still wore the same clothes and wore three spiked wrist bands on both wrists. He also wore chains and wore a spiked choker around his neck. He also wore a dog collar and on it said his name. He had paint on his face that made him look like he was a band member of KISS. His hair was the same except he didn’t wear his cap and wore his same old shades.

“So do I!” Sota said. He wore a tight black muscle shirt, black pants, and black shoes. He had black paint marks on his cheeks, forehead, and chin. He had a lot of chains and wore a spiked wrist band on his right arm. His hair was left untouched.

“When you get up there, Inukai, you’ll hide in the darkness until Sota starts really hitting the notes,” Hiten said. “Then you’ll jump out from the darkness surprising your many fans. Sota, continue playing your bass even when Inukai comes out, got that?”

                                      The two boys nodded.

Nina, Sharon, and Anna went onto the stage to see two boys enter as well. Their eyes widened when they saw who they were.

                                      “Sota?!” Sharon and Anna cried.

                                      “Inukai?!” Nina cried.

“Sharon and Anna and Nina?” Sota asked in puzzlement.

“What are you doing here, wench?!” Inukai demanded.

                                      “We-“

“And we are proud to present The Shikon no Tama,” a voice said.

Nina’s face was instantly filled with panic. “Okay, guys, hurry! Take your places.”

They all obeyed, including Inukai and Sota.

Nina calmed herself down and went over to the microphone.

The curtains went up and a white light flashed on Nina bringing everyone’s attention away from Sota. The chorus began and Sharon, Anna, and Inukai jumped out from the darkness as fireworks exploded causing the audience to become surprise. Neon lights began dancing around the stage as the white light stayed center on Nina.

“Let’s search for and gather the shards of dreams

Even if we’re sad, we can still probably find them

                                      Now,

Changing the shape of the brightly turning tomorrow.

Even if we’re sad, let’s feel the sure present.”

As the chorus ended, Nina and Inukai sang while the others played their instruments.

“It’s simpler than it looks, but I can’t tell it all.

I’m always putting what I want to say away in my

                                      Pocket.

I can’t say things with childlike plainess now.

It’s said that time settles all, but without

                                      Understanding—“

                                      The chorus began.

“I believe in you 24 hours a day

I stare wide-eyed, even at common words

Time is always laughing on its swift feet

Let’s find a present we want to look for more than

                                      Memories.”

                                      The chorus ended.

“If we don’t move, we can’t start. If we worry, we

                                      Can’t stop.

I don’t want to be cuddled by dreams of this world’s

                                      Limits.

A maiden’s cheeky wish is left behind as it is.

Love is everything. Our era starts from here.”

                                      The chorus began.

“Like a bird cutting through the sky,

The image dancing in the great sky begins to move

Let’s walk—the road goes on for long, but

It’ll shine like a diamond before we know it.”

Nina took a breath waiting for her and Inukai’s next lines.

“I believe in you 24 hours a day

I stare wide-eyed, even at common words

Time is always laughing on its swift feet

Let’s find a present we want to look for more than

                                      Memories.”

                                      The final chorus came.

“Let’s search for and gather the shards of dreams

Even if we’re sad, we can probably still find them

                                      Now,

Changing the shape of the brightly turning tomorrow.

Even if we’re sad, let’s feel the sure present.”

And so, Inukai and Nina sang through the main parts of the songs as well as the chorused parts while the rest only sung when they had to chorus. Inukai continued playing his guitar and joined Nina in the white light despite the glare she was giving him.

The concert was almost over and Nina and Inukai were just about to finish the last lines of Fukai Mori when they both saw something hit one of the stage lights. Nina’s eyes widened and she quickly spun around to face her friends.

                                      “Run! Questions later!” Nina cried.

Anna, Sharon, and Sota nodded and quickly ran off the stage.

“You, too, idiot!” Inukai cried grabbing her by her wrist.

“Not until the others get out of here,” Nina hissed freeing her wrist from his grasp.

Inukai growled. “Why don’t you ever worry for yourself, stupid girl?!”

“Because I care about everyone else’s lives more than mine,” Nina said narrowing her eyes.

“Inukai, Nina, move it!” Sota cried as he saw the stage light begin to fall.

Nina and Inukai looked up at the stage light. They saw it falling in their direction. Nina turned to face the audience telling them to get out of the auditorium. Inukai quickly turned around and pushed Nina out of the way. Nina fell off the stage and into the seats. Her eyes widened as she turned to shoot Inukai a death glare for the stage light had landed right where he was. She cried out his name and quickly ran to his side.

“Idiot! Don’t go saving me!” Nina cried as tears began to fill her eyes. “I don’t want to lose you…”

Inukai grunted, but soon regretted it as it only caused him more pain than he was used to having. His lungs burned for oxygen as he wasn’t getting much and he felt his ribs begin to crack. “For once in your life, could you quit worrying about others?”

Nina didn’t answer him as a tear went down her cheek.

Inukai saw this and tried to move so he could wipe it away, but found he couldn’t.

“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” a voice asked.

Nina spun around as Inukai slightly raised his head up from the ground to see who had spoken to them.

Kagome began banging on the doors. She, Inuyasha, and Izumi had tried to stay in the auditorium, but, due to the panicking audience, they were dragged out of it. Now they were standing in front of the doors trying to get in.

“Hey! Let us back in, darn it!” Kagome cried continuing to pound on the doors.

Inuyasha raised an eyebrow, but shook his head knowing Kagome would never cuss and that would be as close to it as she would get. “Forget about it. It’s no use, Kagome.”

“But we have to go back in there and see if Inukai and Nina are all right and find out what the cause of the light falling down was,” Kagome said turning around to face her husband.

“Does it look like I’m in any condition to fight any demons that may be in there?!” Inuyasha demanded as he stood up giving Kagome the best glare he could come up with even though he hadn’t wanted to, but knew it was the only way to convince her.

Kagome stared at him blankly. “What do you mean?” She then realized why he was so cranky all of a sudden as she saw he was in his human form. She looked up at the nighttime sky and saw that it truly was a new moon. Oh, no. She groaned and looked towards her daughter to see she was also in her human form.

Her eyes looked just like Kagome’s now and her hair was really designed like Serena’s from Sailor Moon. She also had human ears at the side of her head as what looked to be like side burns that reached her shoulders went down her face in front of her ears slightly covering them. It looked like she had a mix of Inuyasha and Kagome’s hair do.

Kagome sighed and looked up at the stars. What are we going to do?

Inukai growled as he tried to get free again as standing in front of him was none other than Seth. Nina turned her attention back to Inukai and tried lifting the stage light off him when Seth spoke.

“So, my dear brother, it seems you do have a weakness,” he said. He smirked then looked up at the moonless sky.

Nina looked at him puzzled then looked towards Inukai. Her eyes widened as she saw he was in his human form.

Inukai was as puzzled as Nina was. His eyes widened as he looked across the stage to see his wig and sunglasses must’ve flown over there when the stage light had fallen onto him. He then looked towards his sideburns to see what Seth had meant by him having a weakness. “Ahh, damn.”

Seth smiled when he saw that Inukai had finally figured out what he had meant.

Nina continued trying to get Inukai free. If he’s in his human form, he won’t be able to take this pain soon.

Seth rolled his eyes at Nina’s failed attempts to lift the stage light off Inukai. He let out a sigh and snapped his fingers. The Shichinintai appeared and they were holding onto Anna, Sharon, and Sota.

Nina looked towards Seth then towards her friends. She stopped trying to lift up the stage light and went in front of Inukai. Her hands turned to fists as she looked down at the ground causing her bangs to hide her eyes and expression. “Let them go.”

“And why should I?” Seth asked raising an eyebrow as he crossed his arms.

“Because you’ll regret it if you don’t,” Nina said.

Seth smiled and then saw that the Shikon Jewel was glowing. His smile widened. “I’ll give you your friends back if you give me the Jewel of Four Souls.”

Nina looked up at Seth in surprise and quickly covered the jewel.

“Don’t give it to him,” Inukai wheezed. “Don’t be a puppy. A dog knows that their responsibilities come before friends. Think of where your loyalty stands. You can be loyal to just your friends and betray everyone else or you can betray your friends and be loyal to everyone else.”

“Loyalty?” Nina questioned. If I give them the jewel, my friends will be free, but Inuyasha and the others will surly be angry with me. If I don’t, I could lose my friends. This is SO not fair.

Inukai growled. “Nina, think of yourself and the Shikon Jewel for once in your life. Get out of here.”

“No!” Nina cried turning to face Inukai. “I won’t leave you or my friends behind to these jerks!”

Inukai looked towards Nina in surprise. He then saw the jewel was glowing even more. Why does it glow? What is it about Nina that makes it glow? He sighed. “Fine. Be stupid and hand over the jewel, but if you do, your friends will die anyway.”

Nina knew Inukai was right, but which was worse, getting killed by Seth and the Shichinintai or getting killed by Naraku? She shook her head. No. The only person getting killed around here is me. She looked towards Inukai and softly said, “I’m sorry.” She then went over to Seth as she took her necklace that held the jewel off.

Inukai began struggling to get free despite the pain he was causing himself. He could not and would not allow Nina to make the biggest mistake of her life. “Nina, be a good puppy and come back over here. Don’t give the jewel to that bastard. Nina, are you listening to me?! Nina!”

Nina held her hand out to Seth. Seth smiled and took the jewel from her.

“Thank you very much.” Seth said. He then smirked and added, “Puppy.”

                                      Nina smiled. “You’re welcome.”

Seth only smirked even more and turned to face the Shichinintai. “Well, you guys remember the deal we made. Set her dear friends free.”
Nina frowned and turned towards her friends to see Jakotsu raising his sword, Genkotsu getting ready to shoot one of his saucers, and Renkotsu getting ready to light the rope on fire. She hid her smile and turned to face Seth again. She saw he still had his back turned to her. She then kneeled down and tripped him with her low kick. This caught Seth by surprise causing him to fall down onto his back as the Shikon no Tama flew out of his hand. Nina caught it and smirked down at Seth.

“This belongs to me as you did not up hold your deal,” Nina said. “I said set them free not kill them.”

“And we are setting them free,” Seth said getting up calmly. “You never said how we should set them free.”

“I know that,” Nina said quickly grabbing the unsheathing the sword at his side. She then aimed it and threw it.

Seth raised an eyebrow as the sword flew past him. “What sort of aim is that?”

                                      “A perfect one,” Nina said.

Seth turned around to see his sword bounce of the wall then turn and soared across the ropes that tied Anna, Sota, and Sharon setting them free. The sword then hit the ground. Seth growled and turned to face Nina again.

“Clever, very clever, but how do you expect them to escape my men?” Seth asked.

“Well, that’s easy,” Nina said as she tried to think of exactly how she was going to free her friends.

Inukai had stopped moving as soon as he saw what Nina had done. She got the jewel back and saved her friends. He smiled. Maybe she’s not a puppy after all.

Nina went over to Inukai’s side again. She then began lifting the stage light up again. This time she found she was able to do so. She then turned to face the Shichinintai as she lifted it above her head and threw it at them. Sharon, Anna, and Sota ducked so they wouldn’t get hit and it hit the Shichinintai. She smiled. Perfect aim. She then ran to Inukai’s side. “Are you okay? Can you stand?”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m okay, woman,” Inukai said as Nina helped him stand. Truth was, he felt a lot like he had been in Hell. Now, he felt sort of like he was in Heaven. He sighed and took deep breaths as he ignored the pain of his cracked ribs. What is it about this girl that makes me so happy? Whatever it is, I don’t want it to go away. He then looked towards his brother. I don’t have a weapon to fight with. I left my sword with my stuff in the changing room. Damn it. How am I supposed to fight?

Nina knew that Inukai was in no position to fight as he was hurt and had no weapon. She also knew she wasn’t exactly in the best position because she didn’t have a weapon, she had to help Inukai and make sure that the Shichinintai and Seth didn’t take advantage of his weakened state, and her friends were still in danger.

Sharon, Anna, and Sota quickly ran to the changing rooms leaving behind a puzzled Nina.

What are those three doing? Nina sighed and sat Inukai down. “Be a good boy and stay.” She looked towards Seth. “I have unfinished business to take care of.”

“If you think I’m staying put, the answer’s no,” Inukai said. “You can fight the others if you want, but I’m taking my brother down even if it means my life.”

“But you’re a human,” Nina said turning to face him again. Worry was written across her face. “You’ll get killed. I-I can’t let that happen. You’re my friend and friends look out for each other.”

Inukai just sat there unable to think of anything to say. He then saw that the jewel was glowing even more. He looked up at Nina and stood up. “How am I suppose to protect you if you always run off trying to get yourself killed?”

Nina stood her ground. “You can protect me by staying here and listening to me or you’ll get killed and there won’t be anyone to protect me.”

“Yeah, well, if you get killed there won’t be anyone for me to protect!” Inukai cried. “Stay away from Seth. I don’t want him killing you!”

Nina stubbornly turned her back to Inukai. “I can take care of myself, thank you.”

Inukai let out a low growl.

“Umm, are you two done arguing?” a voice asked.

The two turned around to see Sharon, Anna, and Sota holding their weapons. Sota threw Inukai his sword while Anna threw Nina hers.

Inukai unsheathed his sword. “Let’s get the real party started now.”

Nina nodded as she grabbed out an arrow and aimed it on her bow. Sharon, Anna, Sota, and Inukai charged at their enemies.
