Inuyasha: A New Beginning

Chapter Twelve

                                      “I see,” Kaede said. Inuyasha and the others were in Kaede’s hut and had just gotten done explaining everything to her. “That explains the disappearance of my apprentice. Never did I imagine that she betray me let alone you as well.”

                                      “Yeah. Well, you shouldn’t trust everyone you meet,” Inuyasha said shooting a glance at Inukai who grunted, crossed his arms, and closed his eyes.

                                      Kaede watched the two half dog demons and sighed. “Inuyasha, in case ye hasn’t noticed, the other half demon seems to be a lot like ye rather ye like it or not.”

                                      This time, Inuyasha grunted and went into his usual pose with his arms crossed and eyes closed. “Whatever, old hag.”
                                      Kaede let out another sigh and looked towards the door that led to the room Nina was sleeping in. “Nina is a lot like Kagome, as well. I know not what this means. I believe it could be an ill omen. Or perhaps it is a good one. I know not at all, I am afraid.”

                                      “Maybe we should ask Nina what happened,” Kagome said. “I mean, get her point of view the way things happened. Such as what she was feeling when the jewel was glowing and if Alendria told her anything.”

                                      Miroku nodded. “Lady Kagome is right.”

                                      “Then that’s what we shall do after she has rested and is well enough to tell us her story,” Kaede said.

                                      Nina opened her eyes to herself in a plain bronze colored room. She frowned and sat up. She then looked to her left to see a field of flowers with many birds and butterflies fluttering around the area. She looked at it puzzled then turned to her right to see a room filled with darkness except for the flames that surrounded it. Nina’s eyes widened in fear and she looked away. “Wh-what is going on?” She stood up and heard a voice.

                                      You must pick the correct path to take to be united with your friends and family. The right path will take you back. The wrong path will lead you to your death. Pick wisely and remember the path that looks the best, is not always the best and the path that looks the worse, is not always the worse.

                                      The voice then faded as Nina continued looking around puzzled. “That didn’t help much. I think it just got me even more confused.” She looked towards the flaming dark room and shuddered. She then looked back towards the field of flowers and relaxed. “The one that will take me back to my friends and family would be that one, wouldn’t it?” She then remembered the warning the voice had given her. She let out a sigh and looked back towards the flames. She gulped. “This is a dream. That’s all it is. When I walk through there, I won’t feel a thing.” She took one step towards it and could already feel the heat coming off the flames. She stopped to rethink her decision. What if this isn’t a dream and it’s real? Then I’ll get burned. She turned back towards the field suddenly liking the idea of going through there instead of the other one. There’s nothing dangerous about a field of flowers right. She then remembered how Kikyo died and gulped. Unless there happens to be a demon in there who can disguise themselves as you loved ones and wants you dead. She turned back to face the flames again. My friends and family will always be there for me. No matter what. Her expression changed to one of determination. She let out a sigh. “Well, here goes nothing.” She ran into the flames and dark room ignoring the burns she was beginning to get.

                                      Inukai stood up. “Well, if we’re all done talking, why don’t we go out for some fresh air?”
                                      Miroku nodded and stood up. “Besides, the children have been complaining they’re hungry.”

                                      Sango stood up as she helped her children up. “Food sounds like a great idea at the moment.”

                                      Kagome got up and helped Izumi up. “I agree.”

                                      Inuyasha grunted and stood up as well. “Too bad they don’t have ramen.”

                                      Koga looked towards the room Nina was staying in and sighed. He then got up. “Well, I’m kind of hungry, too. I just wish my dear Nina was awake.”

                                      Inuyasha and Inukai growled at Koga.

                                      Koga took a step back a bit startled. He had expected Inuyasha to growl at him, but not Inukai.

                                      “She’s not your woman,” Inuyasha said bringing up one of his claws in front of his face.

                                      “Yeah,” Inukai said doing the same thing as Inuyasha.

                                      Kagome let out a sigh and put a restraining hand on Inuyasha’s shoulder. “Let’s go. I’m starving as is our daughter.”

                                      Inuyasha looked towards his wife and knew he had better listen as her face held the look that said to obey her or he would face severe consequences. He nodded and turned to leave. Before he did, though, he shot one last look of warning at Koga.

                                      Inukai, on the other hand, was still growling and glaring at Koga.

                                      Sango, Miroku, and their children quickly left not wanting to be dragged into a fight that might soon ensue among the two. Shippo and Sesshomaru followed, Shippo out of fear and Sesshomaru out of annoyance. Anna and Sharon also followed out of hunger.

                                      Sota let out a sigh hating to be the last one there. He went over to Inukai. “Let him go. He’s not going to be able to do anything anyway because he’ll be eating.”

                                      Inukai nodded. “Koga, leave.”

                                      Koga left somewhat reluctantly, but Sota got him out of there.

                                      Inukai was left in the hut on his lonesome not that he really cared. He sat down in front of Nina’s door with his legs crossed, arms crossed, eyes closed, and back against the door. He sighed. Why in the world was I growling anyway? There’s no reason I should be doing that to Koga. He never did anything to me to make me do so. Despite this, though, he still growled when he thought about Koga. See. There I go again. What’s wrong with me? He then heard a voice. He frowned and soon figured out it was coming from Nina’s room. He leaned against the door with ear pressed against it, but still couldn’t figure out what it was that the voice was saying. He frowned even more and stood up. He then opened the door and entered the room closing the door behind him not wanting anyone finding out he was in Nina’s room. He soon found out the voice was none other than Nina’s and she was muttering something in her sleep. He kneeled down beside her bed and sniffed the air. It smelled sweet, gentle, and kind with a small scent of French vanilla. Probably from the soap she uses when taking a bath. That or it’s perfume.

                                      “Inu-chan,” Nina muttered.

                                      Inukai’s ears perked up when he heard the name and looked down at Nina. He saw sweat going down her face. He put a hand to her forehead and wiped the sweat away with the sleeve of his jacket. “So, who’s Inu-chan? Is he your boyfriend?” When he said this he smirked, but it disappeared as he let out a growl at the thought of her having a boyfriend. His face then filled with puzzlement as he, yet again, tried to come up with a reason to why he growled.

                                      Nina was still running into the flames and darkness. It seemed like she was going deeper and deeper into the darkness. The flames were soon disappearing replaced by dark purple flames. She didn’t think that was possible thinking that fire could only be red, orange, yellow, or blue. She let out a sigh, but continued running on ignoring the heat and burns that the flames were inflicting upon her. “Inu-chan, help me! Save me! Take me away from this darkness!” She stopped and fell to her knees and covered her face in her hands as she began to cry. I took the wrong path. Now I’m going to die. I’ll never see my friends and family. “Inu-chan! Inuyasha! Inukai! Anyone! Help!”

                                      Inukai frowned when he saw a tear go down Nina’s face. He wiped it away. “Just what are you dreaming about?” He heard her breath coming out short and ragged. His face began feeling with concern. He then saw The Shikon Jewel and placed a hand on it. It began glowing and he felt the warmth coming off it. Wh-why is it glowing? What makes it do so?

                                      Nina stopped crying as she felt strong arms wrap around her. “Wh-who’s there?”

                                      Be brave. You must come to the light to fulfill your destiny. You cannot escape fate, but your friends and family will always be by your side, the voice whispered into her ear. Especially the one you will fall in love with and change his heart so he no longer goes to the dark side. Your destiny and his are one in the same. Fight the darkness. Don’t let it win. And he will always stand by your side to become what one would call a faithful dog. Change his heart and you shall truly win the battle that rages on within your heart. With that, the voice was gone.

                                      Nina wiped her tears away and stood up. She saw a bright light up ahead and felt all her courage and strength return to her. She began running towards the light. No longer afraid of the darkness. No longer feeling the heat or burns the flames caused. All she felt was relief and happiness as she neared the light. Soon, she reached it and jumped into it with joy. She felt the comforting warmth from it. It felt as though the light itself was hugging her with the same joy it felt.

                                      Inukai felt a hand in his and looked down at his to see Nina’s hand holding his. He couldn’t help, but smile just a little bit. He began caressing her hand. With the other, he gently removed a strand of hair out of her face and placed it behind her ear.

                                      Nina groaned and before Inukai could do anything, her eyes opened up. At first, all she saw was a blurry face. Her vision soon cleared and she saw Inukai looking down at her. She smiled. “Hey. What’s up?” She then felt a hand holding her own and looked down at it to see Inukai’s very own hand. She then looked up at Inukai’s face to see him blushing furiously. “You were… worried about me?”

                                      Inukai quickly took his hand away from hers and went into his usual pose. “Feh. Why would I be worried about you? I can’t even stand being around you.”

                                      Nina wanted more than anything to hurt him, but stopped herself knowing that he was just embarrassed that he actually did care for her rather he wanted to admit it or not. She placed a hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry I worried you. I’ll try not to for now on.”

                                      Inukai placed his own hand on top of her own not wanting to look at Nina since he was beginning to blush again. “I-I wasn’t worried about you. W-why would I be?”

                                      Nina couldn’t help but smile at his embarrassment. “Thank you. Even if you wish you weren’t worried about me. Thank you nonetheless.”

                                      Inukai sighed and began caressing Nina’s hand despite himself.

                                      Nina began blushing. “Wh-what are you doing?”

                                      Inukai quickly stopped himself and took his hand away from hers muttering, “Sorry. Didn’t mean to.”

                                      Nina took her hand off his shoulder and looked down at it still blushing. “I-it’s okay.”

                                      Inukai stood up. What has gotten into me? He turned to face Nina as his blush disappeared. He then saw she was blushing.

                                      Nina saw him looking at her and began blushing even more as she tried to hide her blush, but failed in doing so.

                                      Inukai smirked as he saw her blush even more and try to hide it. His smirk soon turned to a smile, though. He cursed under his breath knowing he was doing that despite himself. I’d better leave before I do anything else I’ll regret. Before he left, he tried thinking of a rude comment, but couldn’t think of anything. So he left angry with himself that he couldn’t think of anything to say to Nina.

                                      Nina watched him leave as her blush began disappearing. She let out a sigh of relief once he was gone. Why am I nervous around Inukai all of a sudden? I should’ve been irritated when he was around me. She then remembered seeing him blushing. But he was just as nervous as I was. What is going on? She looked down at the Shikon no Tama and saw it glowing brightly. Why does this keep glowing? She sighed and got out of bed. She then went over to her backpack, grabbed out her brush, and began brushing her hair.

                                      Sota watched Kagome, Izumi, and Inuyasha out of the corner of his eye as he ate his miso soup. Inuyasha was eating ramen. How in the world people knew of it in this era, Sota didn’t know. He then heard a growl and turned around to see Inukai. He flinched at the anger that was plainly written across the half demon’s face. “Sheesh. What happened to you?”

                                      Inukai took a seat beside Sota. “I don’t want to talk about it right now.” He was still upset about the fact that he had gotten embarrassed around the one girl that he should’ve gotten embarrass. Not the other way around. He had even smiled when she had gotten embarrassed. He had tried smirking about it, but it had failed. He had even held her hand and actually showed he was worried about her. It was bad enough that he kept growling at Koga for no apparent reason and that he growled when he thought about Nina having a boyfriend. His face darkened at the thought of her having a boyfriend. She had better not have one. And it had better not be Koga, too. He looked at Koga from the corner of his eye. He quickly took his gaze of Koga letting out a growl. Why do I keep growling at him? It’s not like I really even care if she does have a boyfriend or not. That just gives me something to tease her with. Plus, if it were Koga, it’d be ten times better. He still let out a growl at the thought. That’s it! I quit! All I want to know is why I keep acting this way!

                                      Inuyasha eyed Inukai as he sniffed the air to find Nina’s scent on him. He let out a growl and went over to Inukai. “What were you doing with Nina?”

                                      Inukai grunted and spun around. “Nothing. In fact, I was trying to forget the fact that she finally woke up. She was beginning to annoy me, so I left.”

                                      “Then why’s her scent all over you?” Inuyasha asked.

                                      Inukai looked at him puzzled then sniffed the air. He cursed when he found he really did have Nina’s scent on him.

                                      Sango and Kagome gave Inukai a disgusted look as they looked towards their children out of the corner of their eyes not wanting them to follow Inukai’s example of such beautiful language he used when he got angry and such.

                                      “Listen, it’s not my fault,” Inukai said. “She-“

                                      “Hey, guys, I’m awake now,” a voice said.

                                      Everyone turned around to see Nina. Kagome was happy that the teenaged girl had come stopping any fighting that probably would’ve ensued between the two half demons. Inukai seemed as happy as Kagome even though he tried hiding it.

                                      “It is great to see that you have awakened, Lady Nina,” Miroku said.

                                      Nina smiled happily. “I’m sorry if I worried you guys.”

                                      “Don’t be,” Sango said.

                                      “Nina, we have to talk,” Anna said.

                                      Nina looked at her puzzled. “What do you mean?”

                                      “We just want to hear your point of view of what happened during the battle we had with the Shichinintai, Seth, Demon, and Alendria,” Sharon said.

                                      At the mention of Seth and Alendria, Inukai growled. Inuyasha growled at Seth’s name. Sesshomaru watched the two in the least bit interest, but he seemed to be the only one to notice that Inukai had growled at Alendria’s name.

                                      “Okay,” Nina said. Besides, I’m not even that hungry anyway.

                                      Sota looked towards Nina and felt himself begin to blush. He looked down at the ground hoping no one noticed him blushing.

                                      Kagome, however, did notice. She smiled. Aww, my little brother is growing up. I have to tell Nina. She looked towards Nina to see her talking to Sharon and Anna about something that sounded like guys and what big jerks they were. Though, this was true for Nina, Kagome did notice her shooting glances at Inukai and blushing a little. What’s this? She looked towards Inukai to see him doing the same despite himself. Well, isn’t this interesting. She went over to Sango and gently elbowed her in the side.

                                      Sango gave her a bewildered look.

                                      Kagome shook her head towards Nina’s direction.

                                      Sango continued looking at her puzzled.

                                      Kagome let out a sigh and pointed her finger towards Nina then towards Inukai after making sure that they, nor anyone else, were watching.

                                      Sango smiled and signaled for Kagome to come over to her so she could whisper something to her. “I think we need to help them out. They’re obviously too stubborn to see they both like each other.”

                                      Kagome smiled and nodded.

                                      “Besides, they remind me of two certain people,” Sango whispered.

                                      Kagome raised an eyebrow. “What’s that suppose to mean?”

                                      Sango shook her head. “Don’t worry about it.”

                                      Though the two women had tried to keep their voices low, Inuyasha had heard every word and growled in Inukai’s direction.

                                      “And that’s what happened,” Nina said. She had finished explaining the battle from her point of view to them.

                                      “I see,” Kaede said. “The sacred jewel glowed because ye was worried for Kagome’s life, thus, showing friendship. That is why it glowed so brightly.”

                                      Nina nodded and wanted to ask why the jewel had glowed when she had woken up, but decided not to as she felt like she was blushing again at the thought. If I can’t think about it without blushing, then imagine if I had said it! That’d be even worse!

                                      Kagome appeared in deep thought then spoke. “So, if the jewel glowed because you were trying to protect me, then…” She gasped. “That means you’re balancing out the jewel and Sango and Miroku said that the last person who did that was a long time ago and I was the next to be able to do so and that was seven years ago! You must be very strong to be able to so this quick! It almost took me one year just to be able to do that!”

                                      Nina blushed with embarrassment and looked down at the ground smiling. She really wasn’t used to people giving her such compliments.

                                      Inukai noticed how she was acting after everything Kagome had said and smiled. She really is too modest. His eyes widened when he realized what he was thinking about and realized he was smiling about it, too. He turned his smile to a frown and forced it to stay that way hoping no one had seen him smiling.

                                      Of course, Kagome and Sango noticed his smile and giggled.

                                      “If only Nina knew,” Kagome whispered.

                                      “They make such a cute couple,” Sango whispered.

                                      Inukai glared at the two women wondering just what they were giggling about. Inuyasha, on the other hand, was glaring at Inukai.

                                      Koga went over to Nina and put her hands in his. “My dear Nina, you have no need to tell them that it is I you love.”

                                      Nina looked down at his hands. “How many times do I have to tell you? I do not Love YOU!” With that said, she threw Koga into a wall.

                                      Koga passed out.

                                      Nina looked like she was steaming.

                                      Inukai looked towards her and gulped. Guess I shouldn’t get her mad anymore, huh? He sighed.

                                      Nina looked towards her and calmed down. She then felt herself blushing and quickly ran out of the room and into her own. She felt her heart beating fast and hard. She didn’t know rather it was from running or from seeing Inukai. Okay. Note to self, never go near Inukai. In fact, I’m going to avoid that jerk. She felt her blush leave her. That’s much better. She went over to her bed and lied down. Time to rest, I guess. It’s 8:30 now anyway. She closed her eyes.

                                      Rin sighed as she looked out her window at the darken sky. Sesshomaru, where are you? What’s taking you so long to save me? Where are you, my knight in shiny armor?

                                      Kohaku sighed and began walking back and forth in his room. Sango, I’m sorry I got kidnapped again. I’m so weak. I’m older now and I’ll try my best to get away. Besides, Rin’s here, too. I’m sure Sesshomaru is worried about her, too.

                                      Inukai sighed as he lied down in his room. He yawned. “Koga is such an idiot if he didn’t see that coming. She has, after all, told him more than once that she’s not his woman. And I still can’t figure what keeps making me such a nervous wreck when I’m around her. Plus, the fact that I keep growling at Koga and any other guy around her. At least when I imagine another guy around her.” He growled in frustration. “What keeps making me feel like this?! I’ve never felt this way in my life.” He felt his heart do a flip. “It kind of feels good, though. Whatever this feeling is.” He shook his head. “No, it doesn’t! I hate this feeling! Make it stop!”

                                      Sango and Kagome leaned against Inukai’s door and couldn’t help but giggle.

                                      “He likes the feeling,” Sango whispered trying not to giggle again.

                                      “He likes it so much that he wants it to stop,” Kagome whispered as a grin made its way to her face.

                                      The two women giggled again.

                                      “Now if only we knew what Nina thought about the whole thing,” Sango said.

                                      “That won’t be hard,” Kagome said. “We’ll have girl talk with her. Of course, it’ll be about guys.”

                                      The two giggled again.

                                      Nina sighed seeing as she couldn’t sleep. “I shouldn’t have taken that nap or whatever you want to call it.” She heard a knock on the door and sat up. “Come in.” Please don’t be Inukai. Please don’t be Inukai.

                                      The door opened and Sango and Kagome entered the room.

                                      “Hey,” Sango said smiling.

                                      “What’s up?” Kagome asked also smiling.

                                      Nina sighed. “Nothing’s up unless you count the sky and ceiling.”

                                      Sango and Kagome took their seats in her room.

                                      “You know, Inuyasha is the greatest guy in the world,” Kagome said biting her lower lip hoping she and Sango could get Nina to talk. “He’s strong, sweet, gentle, kind, loyal…”

                                      Nina raised an eyebrow as Kagome continued going through her list of why Inuyasha was a great guy, but shrugged it off.

                                      As soon as Kagome was finish, Sango and Nina put on fake smiles not really wanting to hear about why Inuyasha was so great.

                                      “Yeah. Inuyasha’s great all right,” Nina said.

                                      Sango sighed. “Miroku’s great, too. You know, except for the fact that he’s a lecher. Only now he’s not unless, you know and…” Sango trailed off as she began to blush.

                                      Kagome sighed and turned to face Nina excitedly. “So, is there any guy out there that’s great to you?”

                                      Nina frowned. “No.”

                                      Kagome and Sango’s faces dropped.

                                      “But.”

                                      Kagome and Sango’s eyes lit up.

                                      “The guy that would be most perfect for me would have to be kind, generous, forgiving, nice, hopeful, out going, strong, sweet, loyal…” She sighed and went over to her window. In fact, he’d have to be the complete opposite of Inukai.

                                      Sango and Kagome exchanged glances. After they left so Nina could sleep, they giggled.

                                      “She likes him,” Kagome said.

                                      “It’s so obvious,” Sango said.

                                      “If only they knew,” Kagome said.

                                      “I know,” Sango said.

                                      Nina sighed as she lied down on her bed again. She groaned. “I’m bored and I can’t sleep.” She got up and went over to her window to see it cloudy and couldn’t even see the moon or stars. She then heard thunder and saw lightning go by. She went back over to her bed and sat down. She then shivered. I still hate thunder and lightning. I’m fifteen for crying out loud! I shouldn’t be afraid of it anymore! She heard thunder again and saw a streak of lightning go by. She shuddered and turned away from her window. I sense a dark presence, but Inuyasha would come and get me if anything was going on. She felt as though a finger was going down her spine trying to make her shiver and it did work. She then felt hot breath on her neck. She gulped and turned around to see… nothing. She let out a sigh of relief and put a hand to her heart as she felt it start to beat at its regular rhythm. That was so scary there for a moment. I’m just letting the dark and thunder and lightning get to me. That’s all. There’s nothing going on. There’s no one except me in my room. Nothing more.

                                      “Or so you think,” an eerie voice said.

                                      “Wh-who’s th-there?” Nina asked as she felt her heart began to beat faster again.

                                      “Your worse nightmare,” the voice said.

                                      She tried locating where the voice was coming from and saw it was coming from her closet. She gulped and took a step towards it as she got off her bed. “I-I’m coming o-over there, s-so you h-had better b-be pre-prepared t-to fight.”

                                      She heard the voice laugh at her and felt anger begin to rise within her getting rid of the fear she had earlier.

                                      “You had better get ready,” Nina now said in a determined voice.

                                      This time the voice didn’t respond.

                                      Nine drew closer to the closet. She reached out a hand towards the handle. She felt her heart begin to speed up again as fear swallowed her up again. Sweat began going down her face. Her hand touched the handle. She turned it and opened the closet. Then someone jumped at her roaring. She screamed and fell down onto her back.

                                      Inuyasha was lying down on his back when he heard a scream. He recognized and knew instantly that it belonged to Nina. He quickly ran out of his room and ran to Nina’s to see Miroku and the others had already gotten there as they were standing outside of her door. “What’s going on?”

                                      “I don’t know,” Kagome said as she held onto her daughter’s hand exchanging nervous looks with Sango.

                                      “If we did, believe me, I would tell you and wouldn’t be standing out here,” Miroku said.

                                      Inuyasha grunted.

                                      Inukai was standing in front of Nina pointing his finger at her and laughing. Nine glared at him and stood up.

                                      “Ha, ha, ha, you should’ve seen your face when I jumped at you,” Inukai said.

                                      Nina pushed him into her closet and crossed her arms glaring daggers at him. Inukai let out a yelp of surprise as he fell into Nina’s closet causing the clothes to come off the railing and fall onto him. This time, it was Nina’s turn to laugh. Inukai glared at her and stood up as he took the clothes off him.

                                      “You are not getting away with that,” Inukai snarled.

                                      Nina stopped laughing and looked towards him determined to withstand whatever he was going to pull this time to get her back. Instead of doing what Nina had expected, though, he lunged at her causing her to let out a yelp of surprise as she and him fell down to the ground. Nina groaned and was about to shove Inukai off her and teach him a lesson for doing that to her, when Inukai began tickling her. Nina began laughing none stop as he did this.

                                      “Stooooooppppp ittttttt!” Nina cried between laughs.

                                      “Just like a puppy,” Inukai said. “You can’t even defend yourself. That and the fact that you couldn’t hide your fear. You have to learn to trust your instincts and hide your emotions.”

                                      Nina gave him a look as he stopped tickling her. “Puppy? I am not a puppy, okay. And I can too defend myself and hide my fear as well as emotions. And I do trust my instincts.” Though she said all this she wasn’t even sure if most of them were even true.

                                      “Uh-huh,” Inukai said crossing his arms as he sat up on her stomach. “Then why is it that I scared you so easily? And how come I knew you were scared? And how come I’m on top of you right now? You are a puppy. You’re a teenage half dog demon for crying out loud! Every dog knows this unless they’re a puppy.”

                                      Nina glared at him. She was just about to throttle him when the door opened. She and Inukai turned towards the door to see who it was to see it was Miroku and the others. Miroku was wearing a very suspicious smile. Kagome and Sango were whispering about something. Koga had his mouth opened wide. Izumi, Kai, and Sakura were looking away. Sharon and Anna raised eyebrows and turned away and began talking about something. Inuyasha was glaring at Inukai.

                                      “Bravo, my good man,” Miroku said as his smile widened at Nina and Inukai’s confused faces. He began clapping.

                                      Nina raised an eyebrow and then looked form Miroku to Inukai then realized what it must’ve looked like. She quickly threw Inukai off her and into the closet again causing several clothes to fall on top of him again. She then quickly ran out of her room as her face began to redden.

                                      Miroku’s smile only widened as she ran off. Sango hit him on the head knowing exactly what he was thinking.

                                      Naraku looked down at the Shichinintai Gang, Alendria, Demon, and Seth. “So, you failed, I take it.”

                                      “Yes, Lord Naraku, we did,” Seth said bowing. “But the next time we attack we’ll be sure not to fail.”

                                      Naraku only frowned at this. “Very well. Leave me. I have no need for you, at the moment.” And saw the group left. Naraku smiled to himself. Of course, I do have Kohaku and Rin in my grasp so those imbeciles will come nonetheless to save their dear treasured ones as well as to get revenge. Plus, they’ll be handing me the Shikon no Tama as well as their lives and they don’t even know it. And so, he sat in his throne laughing evilly.

                                      Kagome and Sango took a seat on the bed Kagome and Inuyasha shared.

                                      “I didn’t think they’d show their feelings to each other that quick,” Kagome said.

                                      “Maybe they don’t need our help after all,” Sango said.

                                      “Maybe,” Kagome said.

                                      Miroku took a seat next to Inuyasha on the floor. Inuyasha was in his usual pose.

                                      “You know, I think those two like each other more than I thought,” Miroku said.

                                      Inuyasha opened his eyes and looked towards Miroku out of the corner of his. “Who are ‘those two’ suppose to be? And what do you mean ‘like each other more’ than you thought?”

                                      “‘Those two’ are suppose to be Nina and Inukai,” Miroku said. “And what I mean by ‘like each other more than I thought’ is very obvious by the situation we caught those two in.” At this thought, he grinned.

                                      Inuyasha growled and brought up one of his claws in front of his face. He then cracked them as he said, “If that puppy knows what’s good for him, he’ll stay away from her.”

                                      Miroku raised an eyebrow. “Why, aren’t you protective of her. May I ask the reason why?”

                                      Inuyasha growled and glared at the monk.

                                      Miroku sighed and looked out the window in front of him as the thunder crashed, a lightning struck, and the rain beat against the windows as the wind howled.

                                      Nina shivered. She was outside in the rain, thunder, and lightning wearing a raincoat, but despite that she was still cold. She reached into her pocket and grabbed out her gloves. She then put them on her numbing hands. Why in the world did I have to leave the hut? Now I’m totally lost. This was true, as she had ran out of the hut after the whole incident between her and Inukai. Before she had left, though, she went back to her room after making sure no one was there and grabbed her raincoat. Now she was somewhere in the village totally lost due to the blinding rain that always seemed to go in her eyes stinging them so she would get even more lost. For all she knew, she could be heading into the forest nearby and she knew that wouldn’t be safe as there might be hundreds of demons out there looking for lost humans, such as herself, that got lost due to the rain and wind. She fell down into the mud. She groaned and got up as she wiped the mud off her. She then turned around to see what had made her trip to see a log. Her eyes widened. Did I really wonder that far from the village? She looked around to see she was deep in a forest as the trees were dancing around due to the howling wind and the harsh raindrops that hit her in the face. Oh, no. Now I know I’m lost. She heard rustling in the bushes near her and turned around to face it. She gulped and took a large deep breath, but began choking as the wind, once again, began blowing in her direction causing her to breath in the rain as it flew in her direction. She groaned once she had cleared her throat and looked back towards the bushes. She then gathered up her courage and looked at it with determination hoping to scare whatever it was that was hiding in them. “Come out, who ever you are.”

                                      There was no response.

                                      Nina grew angry at this knowing that someone just had to be hiding in the bushes. She then remembered what Inukai had said about her being a puppy because she showed her emotions and so she covered them up looking towards the bushes with a calmness she didn’t have. “Come out, you coward. Show me who you are and maybe I won’t hurt you.” She heard a yelp of fear and quickly realized there was a child hiding in the bushes and not a scary demon. She quickly ran into the bushes wanting to calm down the child and tell them that she was sorry and hadn’t meant to frighten them. What she saw in the bushes made her angry and scared all at once.
