Inuyasha: A New Beginning

Chapter Ten
Nina yawned and sat up. She then stretched and sniffed the air to smell something tasty being cooked. “Is that French toast I smell?” She got up and grabbed a sky blue robe that had been hanging on the room’s doorknob. She then put it on and ran out of the room, down the stairs, and into the kitchen. She saw that everyone was up, dressed, and in the kitchen eating. Including Kagome’s grandpa who had gotten home sometime around midnight last night. Nina smiled and took a seat in between Kagome and Sota.
Kagome frowned when she saw Nina was wearing a robe and was still in her pajamas. “Aren’t you going to change?”
Nina nodded. “I will as soon as I eat and take a shower.”
“Here you go, honey,” Kagome’s mother said placing a plate with French toast on it on the table in front of Nina.
Nina smiled. “Thanks, Mrs. Higurashi.”
Kagome’s mother smiled and went back over to the stove to make some more French toast.
Nina looked down at her plate, grabbed her fork, and began eating.
Inuyasha woke up. As he opened his eyes, the sun hit him right in the eyes. Inuyasha growled and turned to face Totosai. “Hey, are you done?!” He then saw that Totosai had fallen asleep and drool was coming out of the side of his mouth. Inuyasha growled all the more and hit Totosai all over the head leaving big bumps on his head.
Totosai woke looking around bewildered. “What? What? Did you say something, Mom?” He then saw a very steaming mad Inuyasha. “Uhh, is something wrong?”
Inuyasha continued growling. “Are you done repairing Tessaiga or not?!”
“Huh?” Totosai looked towards the fang. “Oh.” He turned back to face Inuyasha. “Why, yes. It is all repaired.”
“Great,” Inuyasha said smiling as all his steam disappeared. He went over to the newly repaired Tessaiga and sheathed it. He was just about to leave, when Totosai ran in front of him.
“What is it now, old geezer?” Inuyasha asked.
Totosai held out his hand. “You have to pay me now.”
“What?!” Inuyasha asked.
“I said-“
“I know what you said, old geezer,” Inuyasha said as all his steam came back and he beat Totosai up even more. He then left the cave leaving behind a Totosai who had an even bumpier head. “Stupid old geezer, always trying to rip people off.”
As soon as Nina was done eating (which was very quick or, in Kagome’s opinion, as quick as Inuyasha eats his food) she ran up to the bathroom to take a shower.
Just then, the doorbell rang and Sota went to answer it.
Kagome frowned and went into the living room to watch TV until Nina was done taking a shower.
Nina quickly got dressed as soon as she was done taking a shower and ran down into the living room. “Hey, Kagome. I’m ready.”
Kagome looked up at Nina to see she was indeed ready to go. “Okay. Let’s go.”
The two girls left the living room and went over to the door to see Sota talking to a boy. The boy had long black hair that reached his waist, long black sideburns that were in front of his ears, bangs styled like Inuyasha’s when he’s in his human form, and violet eyes. He wore a tight white muscle shirt, a black leather jacket, black leather pants, black shoes, a black cap, and he had his black sunglasses on top of his cap.
Kagome went over to her little brother. “Who’s he?”
Sota grunted and ignored his sister. “Anyway, like I was saying-“
“Sota, isn’t that your sister?” the boy asked.
“What?! No way! She’s my-my-my-“
“Yes, I am his sister,” Kagome said pushing Sota out of her way. “And you would be?”
The boy smirked. “Don’t tell me Sota hasn’t told you about me.”
Kagome smiled. “Well, he hasn’t. So, what’s your name?”
“Heh, well, if you really must know, even though it’s really none of your business who I am, I am the one, the only, the coolest-“
“Oh! For crying out loud, just spit it out all ready,” Nina said slightly pushing Kagome out of the way so she could tell this to the boy who was getting really annoying.
The boy glared at her. “I was in the middle of talking.”
“Yeah, well, you shouldn’t have to brag so much just to tell us your name,” Nina said glaring at the boy.
“Oh, yeah!” the boy said.
“Yeah!” Nina said.
The boy was about to open his mouth when Sota budded in.
“His name is Inukai,” Sota said.
“Inukai?” Nina asked raising an eyebrow.
“Why did they name you that?” Kagome asked. Her eyes went up to his cap.
Inukai noticed this and pulled his cap down a little to cover his eyes. “Well, some parents just give their kids weird names and just so happened to be that my parents were one of those people.”
Nina smiled. “Yeah. Well, I hope you don’t plan on becoming a dogtor.”
“What was that?!” Inukai demanded.
“Oh. Nothing,” Nina said innocently.
Kagome rolled her eyes. “You know what, you’re acting strangely familiar.”
Inukai looked towards her. “Well, we haven’t met. Just ta let ya know.”
Nina frowned. “Whatever.” She then looked towards Kagome. “Can we go now?”
Kagome smiled. “Yeah. I think it’s best if we do.”
The two left the house and began going down the steps of the Higurashi Shrine.
Inukai shook his head and looked towards Sota. “I thought you said your sister was dead.”
“She’s as good as dead to me,” Sota muttered. “I mean, look at who she hangs out with.”
“Umm, so, what are their names?” Inukai asked.
Sota frowned. “My ‘dead’ sister is Kagome. Her friend is Nina.”
Inukai smirked. “Well, let’s go shopping, my friend. For I see great things ahead of us.”
Kagome came out of the dressing room wearing a white t-shirt and a long green skirt that reached a little below her knees. “So, what do you think?”
“It looks kind of like your school uniform, to be honest, Kagome,” Nina said.
Kagome smiled. “Well, I like it.” With that, she ran back into the dressing room.
Nina sighed and looked towards the exit when something black and white caught her attention. She looked towards it to see it was Inukai and he was with Sota in men section. Nina’s eyes narrowed. What’s HE doing here?
Kagome came out of the dressing room again carrying a bunch of clothes. She looked towards Nina to see her get up.
“Come on, Kagome,” Nina said. “Let’s get out of here.”
Kagome looked at her puzzled. “Why?”
“Don’t worry about it. Let’s just pay and leave,” Nina said.
The two girls went over to the cashier to pay for the clothes they had decided to buy.
Sota looked over his shoulder and groaned.
“What is it?” Inukai asked. He was looking at muscle shirts and couldn’t decide rather he should buy an orange one or a black one.
“You really don’t want to know,” Sota said.
Inukai frowned as he finally decided which muscle shirt he wanted and grabbed the black one. He then turned to face Sota. “What do you-“
Sota turned to face him and stepped in front of him so he could cover the view of his sister and Nina. He frowned when he saw what color Inukai had finally decided to pick. “Black? Again? Don’t you think you’ve got enough black in your closet?”
“Ahh, one more black shirt won’t hurt,” Inukai said.
Sota sighed. “Whatever you say.”
“Well, let’s go pay,” Inukai said grabbing his wallet from his back pocket.
Sota looked over his shoulder to see Nina and Kagome leave the cashier’s desk carrying two bags filled with the clothes they bought. They were heading towards the exit. Sota then realized that they were near the exit. “Umm, how about we look around more before we pay?”
Inukai frowned. “We’ve been around the whole store all ready and that was just because we couldn’t find the men’s section which, I may point out, was at the entrance from the beginning.”
Sota frowned. “I know that. I was following you. You never told me what section you wanted to go to.”
“Feh,” Inukai said.
Sota rolled his eyes.
Inukai looked over Sota’s shoulder. His eyes widened.
Sota noticed this and looked at him puzzled. “What is it?”
Inukai’s eyes turned back to their usual size. He smirked. “Why don’t we go pay a little visit to our new friends?”
Sota followed his gaze and groaned.
“You know, that guy was such a jerk,” Nina said.
“He kind of reminds me of someone,” Kagome said.
“He brags too much, too,” Nina said not hearing what Kagome said. “Sheesh. I can’t believe him and your brother are friends.”
“Why, hello, ladies. It seems we meet again,” a voice said.
Both girls stopped talking and walking and looked up to see Inukai with his arms crossed smirking and Sota who was behind Inukai shaking his head.
“What do you want?” Nina asked.
“Nothing… much,” Inukai said.
Nina sighed. “You sound just like my little brother.”
“So?” Inukai asked.
“Well, that just proves that you’re immature,” Nina said.
Inukai growled. “What did you say?!”
“I said you’re immature,” Nina said.
Inukai brought his hand up in front of his face. “Do you want to repeat that?”
“You must be really deaf if you didn’t hear what I said the last two times,” Nina said.
Inukai was about to lunge at her, but Sota grabbed him by the collar of the shirt.
Nina smirked. “Heh, guess your friend has the brains and you don’t.”
Inukai growled.
Nina and Kagome left the store.
Sota sighed and let go of Inukai.
“Why didn’t you let me take care of her?!” Inukai demanded.
“Because, well, she’s a girl,” Sota said.
“So?!” Inukai asked. “What’s that gotta do with anything?!”
“Umm, okay. I don’t really have a good reason,” Sota said. Except she’s a half-breed and could probably kick your butt.
Inukai frowned. “Whatever.”
“He was so angry,” Nina said.
“The way you two were acting really did remind of something,” Kagome said. “I just can’t think of what’s so familiar about it.”
Nina frowned and took a sip of her soda.
They were in the food court area of the mall. Nina was eating two Mrs. Field chocolate cookies and drinking Coca Cola. Kagome was eating orange chicken from the Panda Express, an Asian chicken salad from McDonalds, and noodles from the Teriyaki Express and was drinking a Pepsi.
“Mmm, I almost forgot how all these good foods tasted,” Kagome said. “I’ve been gone from my time way too long.”
“Maybe,” Nina said. “But I like cookies, cake, ice cream…”
Kagome smiled as Nina went through her list of favorite foods. Definitely like Shippo.
“Pizza, teriyaki, candy…” Nina continued.
Knew it, Kagome thought when Nina mentioned candy.
“Let me see,” Inukai said as he looked at the order menu for Jack in the Box. “I want an Ultimate Bacon Cheese Burger large size, a large chocolate banana shake, and large curly fries.”
Sota frowned. Typical. “I’m going to go to the Bar-B-Q place to get me some ribs.”
“Okay,” Inukai said as he waited for his food.
Sota rolled his eyes and went over to the Bar-B-Q place. As he began ordering his food, he caught sight of Nina and Kagome eating their food. He then spotted Inukai sitting at a table with his food and the table was behind Kagome and Nina’s. He groaned. “Oh, no.”
Inuyasha spotted Sango and the others by a river. Sakura, Kai, and Izumi were playing in the shallow part of the river splashing each other. Shippo was watching them. Sesshomaru was sitting with his legs crossed and was leaning against the tree. Sango and Miroku were sitting underneath a tree talking. Koga was standing with his arms crossed, eyes closed, and was leaning against a tree. Inuyasha went to the center of where they all were.
“Hey, guys, I’m back,” Inuyasha announced. He unsheathed Tessaiga. “And I have a all new repaired sword.”
“It’s not new,” Shippo said letting out a sigh.
“Feh. Who was asking you anyway?” Inuyasha said. He looked around and noticed something. “I take it Kagome and Nina aren’t back.”
“Congratulations, Inuyasha. You have finally gotten something correct,” Koga said.
Inuyasha glared at him.
Koga smirked.
“Umm, let me see. Did I forget anything? Nope. Don’t think so,” Nina said finally finishing her list of favorite foods.
Kagome nodded and took a sip of her Pepsi.
Nina sighed and looked around the food court when someone caught her attention. She groaned.
“What is it?” Kagome asked puzzled.
“Your brother’s here,” Nina said.
“So?” Kagome asked.
“Which means Inukai is, too,” Nina said.
“Oh, no,” Kagome moaned.
Sota got his food and went over to Inukai and sat in front of him. Luckily, Inukai hadn’t noticed that he was behind Kagome.
“What took ya?” Inukai asked.
“Umm, they took forever to cook the food,” Sota lied.
“Oh. I told ya ta never order from ‘em,” Inukai said.
“Kagome, don’t look behind you,” Nina said.
Kagome frowned. “Why?”
“No, no, don’t,” Nina said as Kagome turned her head, but she was too late.
Kagome turned back around. “He’s sitting behind us.”
“I know and I told you not to turn around,” Nina said.
Inukai then heard two very familiar voices and turned his head to see who it was.
Sota spotted this. “Inukai, don’t turn-“
Inukai saw who the two voices belonged to.
“… Around,” Sota finished knowing that he was too late. He groaned.
Inukai got out of his seat and went over Kagome and Nina’s table. “Well, well, well, what do we have here?”
Nina rolled her eyes. “Still haven’t gotten your eyes checked, I take it.”
Inukai growled.
Sota got out of his seat and went over to Inukai just in time to stop him from punching Nina. “Inukai,” he hissed.
Inukai only growled.
Nina smirked. “Looks like the smart one come just in time to save you from doing anything stupid.”
“That’s it!” Inukai cried. “Sota, let me go. She is not getting away with those insults!”
Just then, the ground began shaking. Sota grabbed onto the table. So did Inukai. Nina grabbed Inukai’s arm in fear despite herself. Kagome grabbed onto the table.
“It’s an earthquake,” Kagome yelled over the rumbling.
“No, it’s not,” Inukai said softly.
Nina looked up at him with wide eyes. “Wh-what do you-“
“Get out of the way!” Inukai cried as he pushed Nina, Kagome, and Sota back.
All three of them fell down onto the ground and were about to get up to ask Inukai why he just pushed them when the ground broke and a huge fiery monster with red eyes, claws, fangs, and pointy horns on its head emerged from where the floor use to be. It carried a black trident.
Inukai growled. When the monster had come, it made Inukai’s sunglasses leave his head and fly up in the air causing them to get lost in a pile of other stuff the monster had thrown up in the air when it arrived. “You lost my shades. You’re gonna pay for that.”
“Don’t they teach him how to talk properly in school?” Nina muttered.
“They try,” Sota said. “But he’s too stubborn to give in.”
Nina rolled her eyes. “Typical.”
The monster looked down at Inukai and spoke to him in a deep dark voice. “AND THESE SUNGLASSES OF YOURS WOULD BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR LIFE? I DON’T THINK SO, MUTT.”
Everyone except Inukai, Nina, and Kagome, didn’t understand a word it said. It sounded just like grumbling and nothing more to those who did not understand it.
Inukai growled again.
Nina got up and went over to him. “Can you do anything else besides growl?”
Inukai glared at her. “What are you still doing here?! Get out of here!”
“I would say the same thing to you because you’re human,” Nina said. “Now, leave this to Kagome and me.”
“Look, I’ll fight him. The rest of you get the hell outta here,” Inukai said.
“You’re not the boss of us!” Nina said.
“For once, can you two not argue?” Sota asked.
“Yeah,” Kagome said. “We have more important matters to get to such as this monster.”
“DEMON TO BE CORRECT,” it said. “THE NAME’S BEHEMOTH.”
“Whatever,” Inukai muttered.
Kagome grabbed Sota’s hand. “We’ll be right back.” With that she ran off with a protesting Sota.
“Okay. Let’s take care of this,” Nina said as her claws appeared.
“Heh. I could take care of him myself, but if you insist on helping me, then do so,” Inukai said as he raised one hand in front of his face.
Nina looked towards him and was about to comment on what he just said when she saw he had claws. Why didn’t I notice those earlier? “You’re a-“
“Move it!” Inukai cried pushing Nina out of the way again. This time from a flaming claw.
Nine groaned and opened her eyes to see a white haired Inukai with dog-ears on his head! Nina gasped. “You’re a- you’re a-“
Inukai looked at her puzzled then turned his head to the side to see his hat and black hair on the ground. “Damn.” He then got up and looked at the demon. “Yo, don’t you know how to play nice?”
Behemoth just growled. “THIS IS HOW WE PLAY NICE IN MY WORLD.”
“Yeah, well, in this world, we don’t play nice like that,” Inukai said.
“Yeah,” Nina said getting up and running over to Inukai’s side.
Kagome handed a sword to Sota and grabbed a bow, a quiver, and at least forty arrows that she then put in the quiver. She then put the quiver on her back. “I can’t believe I’m stealing weapons.”
Sota twirled the sword. “I can’t believe I’m actually helping you and the freak fight another freak.”
“Nina’s not a freak,” Kagome said. “Besides, if I were you, I’d take a good look at Inukai.”
“What’s that suppose to mean?!” Sota demanded.
“Oh, nothing,” Kagome said. “Come on. We have to go help them.”
Inukai jumped up and slashed at Behemoth. Behemoth clawed him sending him crashing into the ground. Nina ran over to Behemoth and clawed him on the leg. Behemoth looked down at her and chuckled.
“NOW, WHY WOULD A LITTLE HALF BREED, SUCH AS YOURSELF, BE ATTACKING ME?” Behemoth asked.
“Why else?” Nina asked. “So they can defend their friends and the innocent, duh.”
Inukai got back up and pushed Nina out of the way just in time as Behemoth was going to claw her.
“I could’ve dodged that one myself,” Nina hissed.
“Sure,” Inukai said getting up again. “Whatever you say.” He charged at Behemoth again.
Nina growled in frustration. “I give up. There is no use getting through that stubborn, arrogant, inconsiderate, insensitive, jerk!”
Inukai clawed Behemoth. Behemoth smiled and grabbed him.
“What the- what are you doing now?!” Inukai demanded.
Behemoth’s smile widened. “You’ll see.” He began squishing Inukai.
Naraku smiled. “I am quite sure that my plan is working wonderfully. Soon, I shall have Inuyasha as my guard, his beloved wife and daughter shall be dead soon, Sango, Miroku, and their kids will learn why they should never escape me, Sesshomaru will, too. As I have Rin and Kohaku. And, most importantly, I will be rid of the nuisance half breed priestess and have the Shikon no Tama in my grasp.” He began laughing evilly.
Inukai felt his lungs burn as no oxygen was getting to them. He heard his bones cracking under the pressure of Behemoth’s hand.
Behemoth laughed evilly.
Just then, an arrow hit his wrist.
Behemoth looked at his wrist in surprise as it began falling off. Behemoth’s hand then fell to the ground.
Inukai felt the hand slightly release him. He felt air finally reach his lungs and his bones felt relieved that he was finally almost free of the pressure. Inukai weakly opened one eye to see Kagome aiming another arrow. Then he and the hand hit the ground.
Nina ran over to Inukai’s side. “Are you okay?”
Inukai groaned and made the hand let him go. He then sat up and smiled. “Heh, you think that something like that’s gonna make me weak, than ya got another thing comin’.”
Nina glared at him. “Listen you, I was worried about you and this is how you treat me?!”
Wha- she was worried about me? Inukai thought. “You were-“
“Look out!” Kagome cried.
Nina and Inukai looked towards her bewildered. Inukai then spotted Behemoth’s other hand coming for them. Inukai quickly pushed Nina out of the way, but was unable to move himself in time as the hand caught him.
“Inukai!” Nina cried.
“That’s not Inukai,” Sota said as he helped Nina to her feet. “That guy looks more like Inuyasha.”
Nina winced when he mentioned Inuyasha in a cold voice.
Inukai frowned as the hand began squishing him again. “The same thing again? You really need to work on your attacks.” Inukai bit into the hand to see that was a good thing for fire spouted out of him. Inukai cried out in pain as the fire burned him.
“Inukai!” Nina cried.
Kagome shot another arrow.
Behemoth dodged it this time and cackled. “IF YOU USE THE SAME ATTACK OVER AND OVER AGIN, YOUR OPPONENT FIGURES OUT HOW TO DODGE IT.”
Nina ran behind Behemoth and jumped onto its back. She ignored the flames that bit at her hand and climbed up its back. That maybe so, but if you change tactics all the time, it’ll keep your opponent guessing.
Kagome saw what Nina was doing and called Sota over to her. She instructed him on her plan and they out it into action.
Inukai watched Nina climb up Behemoth’s back and was surprised he didn’t notice. He then looked down to see Sota near one of Behemoth’s legs. Kagome was beside the other leg and was aiming another arrow. Inukai rolled his eyes, but decided all three of them probably knew what they were doing.
Behemoth looked around confused. “Now, where did those three go?”
Nina was now on Behemoth’s shoulder. Okay. Here goes nothing. One, two, three! She jumped onto Behemoth’s hand.
Behemoth looked at her surprised and was about to shake her off when an arrow hit his other shoulder. It looked at its shoulder and saw its arm falling down.
Nina got Inukai free. She and Inukai were about to jump down when Behemoth spotted them and was about to throw them off, but Sota threw his sword at Inukai. Inukai caught the sword and jumped up. Kagome released another arrow, this time hitting the leg causing the leg to fall of. Behemoth tried balancing on one leg while trying to hit Inukai. Kagome hit the other leg. Behemoth began falling to the ground. Nina jumped off Behemoth. Kagome and Sota ran out of the way. Inukai held his sword ready to slash at it. Behemoth didn’t notice this as it was struggling to not fall down. Inukai slashed at the center of Behemoth’s body and cut him down from the head all the way down its body to where the feet would’ve been.
Behemoth cried out in pain as black slimy fiery stuff shot out of its body and up into the sky. It then disappeared as black and purple sparkles surrounded it.
Sota and Kagome ran to Nina’s side as she gracefully landed on the ground.
“Are you okay?” Sota asked.
Kagome looked towards her brother to see he was concerned.
“Y-yeah,” Nina said. She looked around and realized something. “Where’s Inukai?”
“Huh? Inukai?” Sota asked. “Come to think of it, I haven’t seen him since we came back.”
Kagome shook her head, as she knew exactly whom Nina was talking about. “I don’t know. Maybe he’s on the first floor.”
Nina nodded and she, Sota, and Kagome went downstairs. When they got there, they found Inukai about to leave the building. Nina ran in front of him blocking his way from the exit.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Nina asked.
“Where does it look like I’m going?” Inukai asked.
“You were going to leave leaving Kagome and me worried? You were going to leave behind Sota and not tell him the truth about you? How selfish are you?” Nina asked.
“I’m not selfish!” Inukai said.
“Yes, you are!” Nina cried. “You’re selfish, arrogant, inconsiderate, insensitive, imma-“
“You guys, please quit arguing,” Kagome said. “I’m starting to get a headache and I’m sure Inuyasha’s waiting for Nina and me.”
Sota sighed. “You’re right.”
Inukai went over to Sota. “Listen, you said you hated demons.”
“How would you-“
Inukai held up his hand signaling for Sota to be quiet. “Anyway, like I was saying, you said you hated demons, but does that mean you hate me? I’m Inukai, your best friend who’s in ninth grade. I’m half dog demon. I’m also half human. I do not belong with either race, demons or humans. That’s why I disguised myself as a human. Because then I would fit in. “
“You do fit in,” Nina said softly.
“Maybe you do,” Inukai said turning to face her. “But that’s only because you appear human. You look more human than you do demon.”
“That maybe so, but I hardly fit in when it comes to school!” Nina cried. “Everyone thinks I’m a geek just because I hang out with my friends! We’re all just very unique! Everyone picks fights with my friends! No one bothers me! They all think I’m cool except for the fact that I hang out with people that happen to be my friends! I think I’ve been asked out more than any of them, but I’ve never had a boyfriend, which is why I don’t exactly fit in with the so-called ‘cool’ crowd! Because my friends who were in that crowd always cried over their boyfriends who broke up with them and I wouldn’t know how to help! They talked about stuff that I just couldn’t relate to!” As Nina said all this tears began filling her eyes. She then spoke in a softer voice. “My so-called ‘geeky’ friends and I had a lot in common. Especially Anna and me.” She then shot her head up as tears went down her face. “So, don’t think I fit in just ‘cause I’m human! No matter what your race, you can still not fit in! Got that!”
Inukai looked down at Nina. “You’re- you’re not a geek.”
“Huh?” Nina asked looking up at him.
“Those who say that you are obviously stupid,” Inukai said. “They don’t know anything about you. Who are they to judge you?”
Nina smiled as she wiped away her tears. “Yeah. You’re right.”
“Of course he’s right,” Sota said walking towards Nina and Inukai. He looked towards Nina first. “I’m sorry I called you a freak for being half demon.” He then turned to face Inukai. “I don’t care what you are. You’re still my best bud no matter what.” He then went over to his sister. “And I’m sorry I called Inuyasha a freak and everything else I did. I’m really, really, really sorry. I didn’t mean it. Can you ever forgive me?”
Kagome smiled. “Of course, Sota. You are forgiven.”
“Yeah,” Nina said walking over to him and placing a hand on his shoulder.
Inukai went over to Sota. “Best buds to the end.”
Sota smiled. “Thanks, guys.”
“You’re welcome,” Kagome and Nina said smiling.
Inukai crossed his arms, closed his eyes, and said, “Feh.”
Kagome looked at him wide eyed. Nina giggled. Sota looked at the two girls confused on what he was missing out on. Inukai hadn’t noticed any of this.
“Well, I need new shades, new cap, and a new wig,” Inukai said opening his eyes. “And where better to get all that merchandise? Of course, it would be none other than here.”
“That’s called stealing,” Nina said.
“So?” Inukai asked. “I’m sure Sota and Kagome stole those weapons from the store.”
“Uhh, oops,” Kagome said looking at the bow and quiver filled with arrows on her back.
Sota frowned. “Well, you’re the one who gladly accepted the sword when I gave it to you.”
“My life was in danger,” Inukai protested.
“By the way, what did happen to that sword?” Sota asked looking around.
“Umm, to tell you the truth, I think it kinda melted,” Inukai said. He pointed his finger at a trashcan. “It’s in there.”
Nina raised an eyebrow for when she went over to the trashcan, she found the melted sword that wasn’t “kinda” melted, but totally melted. In fact, it didn’t even look like a sword anymore. “You call this ‘kinda’ melted? I call it totally melted.”
“Whatever,” Inukai said.
Kagome sighed. “Let’s go home before the cops come and they ask us a bunch of questions.”
Nina nodded as the two boys agreed (after Inukai got his new cap, shades, and wig, of course.) And so, they went to Kagome and Sota’s home.
