Inuyasha: A New Beginning

Chapter Six
Sesshomaru lowered his sword. “So, we meet again, reincarnation.”
Inuyasha looked towards Sesshomaru and gave him a glare. “Don’t you dare harm her or look at her.”
Sesshomaru turned his attention back towards Inuyasha and lifted his sword up. “I have no need for her for now. I’m only here to see how strong you really are.”
“Well, if you want to know so much, you’ll have to fight me,” Inuyasha said.
“Then let’s return to our battle,” Sesshomaru said.
The two charged after each other again. Their swords clashed against each other. They then jumped back and charged after each other again. Their swords clashed again. Sesshomaru then showed the arm that would’ve been gone if it hadn’t been replaced by a dragon arm. Sesshomaru used the dragon arm on the Tessaiga. Inuyasha used all his strength to push against the claw as well as Toukijin. Sesshomaru held Tessaiga with the claw and lowered Toukijin. He then ducked and stabbed Inuyasha in the stomach. Inuyasha winced in pain and kicked Sesshomaru in the stomach. Sesshomaru pulled out Toukijin and backed up laughing.
“Your futile attempts will not work on me,” Sesshomaru said.
“Shut up!” Inuyasha said charging after Sesshomaru again.
Sesshomaru smiled and put his sword up in defense. Their swords clashed again. Sesshomaru clawed Inuyasha cutting him on the cheek. Inuyasha pushed against Tessaiga. He then pulled his sword away, ducked, and went in for the kill. Sesshomaru jumped back causing Inuyasha to only be able to give Sesshomaru a small cut on the stomach. Sesshomaru smirked.
“Is that the best you can do?” Sesshomaru asked.
“Of course I can,” Inuyasha said.
They charged again.
Nina went over to Koga and Shippo. She tried waking them up, but failed in doing so. “Oh. I have to do something.” She turned her attention back to Inuyasha and Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru and Inuyasha had their swords against each other again. Sesshomaru smiled even more.
“Now, it ends here,” Sesshomaru said and with his clawed hand he broke Tessaiga.
Nina gasped.
Inuyasha’s eyes widened.
“He broke Tessaiga,” Nina said.
Inuyasha threw the broken sword to the side. “I don’t need a sword to kill you.”
Sesshomaru sheathed his sword. “Inuyasha, your death is soon to come.”
“Feh. You wish,” Inuyasha said.
They charged after each other again. Inuyasha used his claws of blood. They hit Sesshomaru’s cheek. Sesshomaru grabbed Inuyasha’s arm and began twisting it. Inuyasha winced in pain.
Nina watched in horror. “Inuyasha.”
Kagome woke up and got up. She looked around. Izumi was next to her still sound asleep. Miroku and Sango were next to each other also sound asleep. Kagome continued looking around confused about what had woken her up. She frowned and lied back down trying to sleep and found she couldn’t.
Sesshomaru continued twisting Inuyasha’s arm. Inuyasha gritted his teeth. He then bit into Sesshomaru’s arm. Sesshomaru glared at him and with his claw he stabbed Inuyasha’s arm and then once Inuyasha stopped biting him, he cut Inuyasha across the face.
Nina’s eyes widened. “Inuyasha! Sesshomaru, you big bully, leave him alone!”
Sesshomaru watched as Inuyasha fell down face flat to the ground and then turned his attention to Nina. “Hmm, and why should I listen to you?”
Nina glared at him. “Because if you don’t, you’ll regret it.”
Sesshomaru spotted Nina’s claws and remembered when she had clawed him and took the Shikon Jewel away from him. “You wish to die next, I take it.”
Nina held her claws up in front of her. “I won’t die so easily.”
“Hmm, we’ll see,” Sesshomaru charged after her. Nina stood her ground. Sesshomaru’s hand glowed green. He then lunged at her. Nina spotted his hand that glowed green and knew what he was planning. She rolled away from the attack causing Sesshomaru not only to attack a tree, but also melt it. Nina let out a sigh of relief.
I thought I was a goner there for a sec, Nina thought.
Sesshomaru looked towards her and held up his hand. “You won’t be so lucky next time.”
“We’ll see,” Nina said.
Just then, they heard a growl. The two turned towards the sound of the growl to see Inuyasha getting up. He was still wounded, but now he had blood red eyes and two purple stripes just beneath his eyes. He held up one of his clawed hands and growled.
“Uh-oh, he’s in his full demon form,” Nina said. Her claws disappeared and turned back to normal. “This is bad.”
Sesshomaru watched his brother. “So, this is your full demon self, huh? Interesting.”
Nina went over to Koga and Shippo and tried waking them up again. She looked over her shoulder towards Sesshomaru. “Interesting as it might be, I’d suggest you stay away from him when he’s like this. He could end up killing you. I mean, he is as strong as you when he’s in his normal state. Just think about how strong he would be like in this state.”
Sesshomaru thought about this and knew she was right. He turned to leave, but Inuyasha jumped at him. Sesshomaru fell down face flat into the ground.
“So, you wish to fight me, then, do you?” Sesshomaru asked. “Very well.” He threw Inuyasha off him and into a tree. He then got up and ripped the dragon arm off himself. He grabbed out Tenseiga and used it on himself making all his wounds disappear as well as re-grow the arm Inuyasha had cut off so long ago.
Nina gasped.
Inuyasha got back up and charged after Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru held up his hand to stop Inuyasha. “If you fight me like that, then I’ll fight you in my true form.” He then began transforming to his giant dog form.
Nina watched in wonder. She then looked towards Inuyasha to see he was just standing there as Sesshomaru transformed. She then felt someone grab onto the sleeve of her shirt. She turned back around to see it was Shippo who was grabbing onto the sleeve of her shirt.
“Come on. We gotta go before Inuyasha decides to attack us next,” Shippo said.
“What about the kids?” Nina asked.
“Koga has them. Now, come on,” Shippo said.
Nina looked towards Inuyasha again. “No. I won’t leave.”
“What?! Don’t be stupid. Come on,” Shippo said tugging her sleeve even harder.
Nina shot him a cold
look. “I said no. I’m not leaving Inuyasha behind.”
Shippo sighed. “I hope you know what
you’re doing.” He ran off.
Nina looked back towards Inuyasha. Now, how do I get Inuyasha back to normal?
Sesshomaru finally was in his true form. Inuyasha smiled and jumped up. Sesshomaru threw Inuyasha down onto the ground with his paw. He then lowered his face and looked at Inuyasha. His poisonous drool went down from the corners of his mouth and fell down onto Inuyasha. Inuyasha felt the searing pain from the poison, but ignored it. He tried getting free.
He’s going to poison Inuyasha. He may even kill him. Nina got up and ran up to the two demons. She jumped onto the paw Sesshomaru was using to hold down Inuyasha. “Sesshomaru, stop it.”
Inuyasha growled and grabbed her by the ankle. Nina slipped and let out a yelp of surprise as she fell down to the ground.
Nina’s head hit the ground. She groaned and sat up rubbing her head. “What was that for?”
Inuyasha looked towards her. Nina winced at the coldness in his eyes.
“Stay out of this,” Inuyasha said.
Nina just sat there as she stared into Inuyasha’s cold eyes. This-this isn’t the Inuyasha I know. Tears filled her eyes. “Inuyasha, please, turn back to your usual self.” She looked down at the ground as her tears started going down her face. “Please.” She shot her head up. “Inuyasha, become the friend that I once knew!”
Inuyasha looked towards Nina. His face softened. “Ka…gome?” His vision cleared. “No. It’s Nina.”
Nina saw his red eyes disappear and turn into their usual gold color. Nina stopped crying and smiled. She got up, ran over to Tessaiga, picked it up, and ran over to Inuyasha. “Here.”
Inuyasha took the broken sword and put it back in its sheath. “Get away from here, Nina.”
“Huh?” Nina asked confused.
Inuyasha saw her worried face. “Don’t worry. I’ll be fine.” He smiled. “It’s time I teach my brother that I’m no pushover.”
Nina smiled and nodded. “Right.” She ran off and hid behind a tree to watch.
“Sesshomaru, get Off ME!!” Inuyasha yelled throwing the overgrown dog off him.
Sesshomaru crashed into several trees. He turned back to his usual self and got up. “It seems you have passed the test, little brother.”
Inuyasha looked at him completely speechless. He shook his head. “Test? Test?! Is that what this was?! A stupid test?! A test of what?!”
Sesshomaru smiled. “Well, if it was a test of intelligence, you would’ve failed, but it wasn’t.” He then frowned. “It was a test to see how strong you really were and how long you could last.” He then looked towards Nina. “But I hadn’t figured that anyone would intrude into it. She’s a really good friend.” He looked back towards Inuyasha. “Try not to lose this one. She’s very handy. Plus, Naraku even fears her.”
“What? He fears her?!” Inuyasha asked pointing a finger at Nina.
“Huh? Hey! And why shouldn’t he?!” Nina said.
“Because-because you-you’re just a-just a- Oh. Who cares!” Inuyasha said throwing his hands up in the air angry with himself for not coming up with anything better.
“Well, he does fear you, Inuyasha, but not as much as he fears her,” Sesshomaru said. “Just like he feared Kagome.”
Nina went up to him and placed a hand on his arm. “He has Rin, doesn’t he?”
Sesshomaru looked down at Nina and put a hand over hers. “Yes, he does.” He then took his hand away from hers and looked towards Inuyasha again. “Which is another reason I came here. I need your help to fight Naraku.”
“Sure. I’ll help you, but that’s after I find Kagome,” Inuyasha said.
“Kagome? Inuyasha, didn’t she die seven years ago?” Sesshomaru asked.
“That’s what we thought, but she’s alive. Nina even said so,” Inuyasha said.
Sesshomaru looked towards Nina (who had gone back to Inuyasha’s side) again. “Are you sure you can trust her? She is a priestess after all even if she doesn’t know how to use her powers that well.”
Nina glared at him. “Hey. I might not know how to use my powers, but I still can fight you.”
Sesshomaru looked down at her hands. “You mean with those claws of yours?” He looked back at her face to see her growing all the more angrier. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, but those won’t do you any good when fighting me.”
Nina’s hands turned to fists and she glared at him even more. “Listen, you, if I wanted to, I would hurt you really bad that it wouldn’t be funny.”
Sesshomaru only smiled and looked towards Inuyasha. “You also might want to teach her to control her anger. Oh, never mind. You can’t do that because you haven’t even learned to control your own anger.”
Inuyasha’s hands also turned to fists as he gave Sesshomaru a glare. “Well, if that’s all, let’s go find Koga, Shippo, and the kids then continue with our search of Kagome.”
Sesshomaru’s smile disappeared and he turned back to his usual serious self. “Then let’s be off.”
Inuyasha began leaving. Nina and Sesshomaru followed.
Kagome sighed. She finally felt like she could sleep. She lied back down and closed her eyes. Inuyasha, please be okay.
Naraku woke up to see the sun rising. He felt something was wrong. He got out of bed and went into the throne room. He looked towards one of the guards. “Get me Sesshomaru.”
“Yes, sir,” the guard said and ran off.
Naraku sighed and sat down in his throne chair. Something is very wrong about today.
The guard came back. “Sir, Sesshomaru is not in his room. Should I send guards out in search of him in the town?”
I knew it. “No. We shall continue on with our usual plans,” Naraku said. So, Sesshomaru, you have betrayed. Very well. Rin is still my captive and she will, as always, prove to be very useful. He began laughing evilly.
“There you two cowards are,” Inuyasha said spotting Koga and Shippo by the river.
“Uh-oh. Here he comes,” Shippo said. “Hurry, Koga.”
Koga looked towards Shippo. “Don’t worry, he’s back to normal.”
“Oh. He is?” Shippo looked back towards Inuyasha to see he was indeed back to his usual self. He smiled and ran down to greet him and Nina.
Koga joined him still carrying the now wide-awake children. Kai and Sakura jumped out of his arms and jumped into Inuyasha’s.
“Koga is crazy sometimes,” Kai said.
“Yeah. He said you became a full demon with red eyes and everything,” Sakura said.
Kai rolled his eyes. “As if.”
“Yeah. I guess,” Inuyasha said as his eyes saddened. The mention of becoming full demon reminded him of the day he had told Kikyo he would become full human and the day Kagome had the jewel with her and was going to ask him what she should do with it. It was my fault that she got wounded badly. He felt a hand on his arm. He looked down to see Nina’s brown hazel eyes.
“It’s not your fault,” Nina said.
Inuyasha looked at her surprised and confused. He didn’t know rather she had read his mind somehow or was talking about something completely different.
“He just happened to be there that day. That’s all,” Nina said. “It could’ve been any other day. It could’ve even been this day.”
Inuyasha put his hand over hers. “Thanks, Nina. You’re a good friend.”
Nina smiled. “You’re welcome.”
“Okay, mutt. Get your hand off my woman,” Koga said becoming angry at the sight of Inuyasha even being near Nina.
Inuyasha took his hand off Nina’s and turned his attention back to the kids.
Nina took her hand off Inuyasha’s arm as her smile disappeared. She shot Koga a cold look. “I’m not your woman nor anyone else’s.”
Koga grunted. “Whatever.”
Shippo looked towards Nina. “So, are you really from Kagome’s world?”
Nina looked towards Shippo and smiled. “Yeah. I’m from her world. Just not from the same country. I’m from the United States of America. California to be exact.”
“Really?” Shippo asked his eyes widening. “Then do you have any candy?”
“Umm, in my time I do, but not with me right now,” Nina said. She turned towards Inuyasha. “Can I go home for a while? I really miss my family and I’m sure they’re worried about me. And I have to go to school. I already missed enough as is. I’ll be sure to come back in about three days and I’ll come back with lots of Ramen, candy, and other goodies. I promise.”
Inuyasha grunted. “Fine.” He kneeled down. “Climb on. I’ll take you back home.”
Nina smiled and gave him a hug. “Thank you. You’re the best.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now get on,” Inuyasha said.
Nina obeyed and Inuyasha ran off towards the well once he was sure she was on.
Kagome held onto Izumi’s hand again as she and the others went off on their search for Inuyasha again.
“You guys, what did happen last night?” Kagome asked.
Miroku and Sango traded glances.
“Um, well,” Miroku began.
“A, um, for-seer possessed you and told us a story. She told us that the reason you and your reincarnation exist in the same time…” And so Sango told Kagome what Alendria had told her and Miroku the night before.
Nina jumped into the well after she waved good-bye to Inuyasha. Blue light surrounded him. After it was gone, Nina found herself in her room. As she looked around she found that it had been repaired. It looked just like her room had been before Master Millipede had ruined it except the posters that had been there. All of the posters were now gone. As for the pictures that had hung on her wall, they had either been repaired or her mother had bought new ones off the Internet or catalog. She left her room. And judging by how quiet it was, she’d say her parents and brother weren’t home. She entered the living room and went over to the computer. She went on her e-mail to find she had three new messages. Two of them were from her friend Sharon who was in eighth grade. The last one was from Anna. She read Sharon’s first. All it said was how boring school was and that she really wished it was summer again. Nina then replied to Sharon’s e-mails telling her that she knew school was boring and that eighth grade had been hard with all the projects her teachers had given her. On the second one, she replied saying that she wouldn’t know if she’d want it to be summer again due to the fact that she met Inuyasha. And, so, she told Sharon the whole thing adding that if she didn’t believe her she could ask Anna. Nina then read Anna’s message. It said that Anna had told Nina’s parents and all they said was they hoped you come back soon and that they were really worried about her. But when Anna had told her parents, her mom and dad said they had been really worried about her and she shouldn’t have done that. Her dad had said he didn’t believe her. Her mom, on the other hand, just said that she should have called or something. In other words, according to Anna, her mother didn’t believe her either. Now she was grounded for two weeks. Nina replied to this saying that she had just gotten home and that her parents and brother weren’t home so she was safe at the moment. She then said that she hoped she wasn’t going to fail the ninth grade. After Nina was done with her e-mail, her parents came home.
“Nina, you’re home!” her mother cried. She ran over to Nina and hugged her. “We were so worried about you.”
Nina hugged her mother as tears began to fill her eyes. “I was worried about you guys, too, Mom. I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to see you guys anymore.”
“Nina, you’ve missed a lot of school, you know,” her dad said going over to her.
He was tall with dark blonde hair that it almost looked brown. His eyes were a hazel green color. He wore a short sleeve green shirt, blue jeans, brown leather belt, and gray tennis shoes.
Nina and her mother stopped hugging each other.
“Umm, I know,” Nina said scratching her head nervously.
“You’re going to school tomorrow,” her dad said.
“Umm, what day is it today?” Nina asked.
“Wednesday,” her mother said.
“The ninth,” her dad said.
“Okay. Well, I’m going to my room to do some of my homework now. See ya,” Nina said and left to go to her room. She stopped once she reached her room. “Umm, how am I suppose to do my homework if that demon destroyed it?” She shrugged. “Oh, well. It’s not my fault.” She ran back into the living room. “Umm, Houston, we have a problem. I need a new backpack.”
Her dad growled in frustration. “Come on.” He grabbed out his keys.
The next day…
Nina got out of bed and got dressed. This morning she wore an orange short sleeve shirt with a star in the center of it, blue long bottoms, gray tennis shoes, and had her hair tied back in a ponytail with a purple hair tie. She grabbed her backpack and ran off to school. She ran into her first class just in time when the bell rang. She let out a sigh of relief and took her usual seat beside Anna.
“What are we doing today?” Nina asked.
“We’re turning in our homework,” Anna said.
“Which would be?” Nina asked.
“English class. Hello? It would be anything that makes us write,” Anna said. “We had to write about how ninth graders are suppose to behave.”
“Meaning you guys got in trouble yesterday,” Nina said.
“Yep,” Anna said. “Plus, it had to be ten pages long, front and back without skipping lines. And we couldn’t write big either.”
“I don’t have to do it, though, do I?” Nina asked.
Just then her English teacher came by her desk. “Miss Summers, you don’t have to do it.”
Nina let out a sigh of relief.
“However, I do expect you to do it,” her teacher said.
Nina groaned.
“In other words, you have to do it,” Anna said.
“Miss Okuda, where’s your homework?” her teacher asked.
“Um, well, um, Mrs. Yura, I didn’t, um, do it,” Anna said.
Nina looked towards Anna surprised when she had mentioned Yura. She examined her teacher. She had short black hair that almost reached her shoulders and purple eyes. She wore a mini black skirt, a black tank top with a v-neck, and sandals.
Nina was sure that her teacher just had to be Yura of Hair’s reincarnation and if she had had her way, she would’ve worn a shorter skirt and her shirt would’ve had a lower v-neck. Nina smiled. Well, as long as it doesn’t come to that, I have no problem with it.
Mrs. Yura took her seat in front of the class. “Hopefully, today will be a better day.” She looked towards Nina. Her eyes glowed cold. “And what’s you’re excuse for not being in school for the last three days?”
“Huh? Umm, well, it was because I wasn’t feeling well,” Nina said. “I, umm, had the chicken pox.”
“Oh. Did you, now? Then I take it that Miss Okuda lied when she said you had to go out of town,” Mrs. Yura said.
“Umm, no, because I did go out of town and I got the chicken pox when I was out of town,” Nina said.
“Right,” Mrs. Yura said. “And tell me, since when do the chicken pox go away within three days.”
“Umm, well, umm…” Nina was completely speechless about this. She hates me, doesn’t she? Why? What did I do?
Mrs. Yura smiled. “So, you’ve been lying to me and the class the whole time I take it.”
Nina sighed and looked up at her teacher determined not to lose this fight. “No. I’m not lying. Go ahead and phone my parents if you don’t believe me.” She smiled when she saw that this troubled Yura.
“No, no. That’s okay. I’ll take your word for it,” Mrs. Yura said. “Next time, come with a note.”
Nina smiled even more knowing that she had won the battle.
“Oh. And I’ll be seeing you after class, Miss Summers,” Yura added.
Oh. Great. What did I do? Nina thought. Why did I have to have the reincarnation of Yura as my teacher?
After class, Nina did exactly what Yura had said to do. To go and see her. Yura went over to her as the last of the students left.
“Aww, Miss Summers, take a seat,” Yura said.
Nina did taking the closest seat. “Umm, you wanted to see me?”
“Yes, I did,” Yura said smiling. “I just wanted to tell you that I do not appreciate being lied to especially in front of the whole class.” She got up. “I’ll be watching you closely.” She began to leave to greet her next class. “Oh. And tell your dog friend to steer clear away from here or I’ll see to it that he is sent to the pound.”
Nina quickly left her class and went into her next one confused about what Mrs. Yura had said. Does she mean Inuyasha? She took her seat next to Andy in her social studies class.
“So, what do you think?” Nina asked. She and Anna were walking home from school. Sharon, the one who was in tenth grade, had gone to her friend’s house.
“Well, I’d say you’re paranoid. I mean, not everyone’s like you, you know. We’re not all reincarnations of people from feudal Japan,” Anna said.
“But she told me to tell my ‘dog friend to steer clear away from here’ or she’ll ‘see to it that he is sent to the pound,’” Nina said.
“Well, maybe she was actually talking about your dogs,” Anna said.
“You’re just like… never mind. Anyway, my house is here. Sayonara,” Nina said and went into her house. She put her backpack down and went to take a bath.
Inuyasha lied down on a tree when he heard screaming. Inuyasha got up and rushed to where the scream had come from. He stopped once he had reached the scene. Standing there was a huge dragon. It was holding Sakura in one clawed hand and in the other it held Kai. Sakura screamed.
“Don’t worry, sis, I’ll save you,” Kai said struggling to get free.
Inuyasha looked around for Koga and Shippo. When he found them, he saw they were unconscious. He then looked back towards the dragon to see Sesshomaru on top of its head. He had Toukijin out and wasn’t having much luck fighting it as he had many cuts and bruises.
Inuyasha jumped on top of the dragon’s arm and began biting into it. The dragon roared and threw Inuyasha as well as Sesshomaru off it as it swung its arms and head around. Sakura and Kai screamed as it did this. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru crashed into the ground. They then got up.
“So, just what the hell is this thing?” Inuyasha asked.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Sesshomaru asked.
“Okay. What does it want?” Inuyasha said.
“You actually think I know?” Sesshomaru asked.
The two then felt something tighten around them. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru looked at each other sharing the same puzzled look.
“What the heck is this? Some kind of puppetry trick?” Inuyasha asked.
“I don’t know, but I wouldn’t struggle against it if I were you,” Sesshomaru said.
“Why?” Inuyasha asked as he began doing just that. He got his answer just as he did that for the stuff that had wrapped around them was tightening even more. Inuyasha struggled even more. It continued tightening. Soon, Inuyasha was having a hard time breathing.
“You idiot, don’t you ever listen?” Sesshomaru asked.
“F-eh!” Inuyasha said struggling over the word. He gasped for air. He then looked towards the dragon to see it had its mouth open. Is this stuff coming from inside its mouth? How come we can’t see it? “That’s it! I’ve had enough of this!” He pulled back as the stuff tightened around him. He ignored the pain and continued pulling. He then grabbed what felt like a bunch of the stuff and cut it with his claws. Some of the stuff loosened and Inuyasha felt air reach his lungs at long last. “Stay here, Sesshomaru, and try distracting it.”
“Like I have much of a choice,” Sesshomaru said. “You know, since I’m all tied up and all.”
Inuyasha ignored him and ran off into the forest towards the well. This is just like with Yura of the Hair and since Nina is the reincarnation of Kagome, she can probably see this stuff.
“Ahh, what a refreshing bath,” Nina said as she got left the bathroom wearing her pajamas and a towel wrapped around her hair. She wore a blue spaghetti strap shirt with stars, moons, and cows jumping over the moons and blue shorts to match. She took the towel off and grabbed a comb. She then went to living room and sat down on the blue rocking chair as she began to comb her hair.
