Inuyasha: A New Beginning

Chapter Three
One of the guards led Inuyasha and Nina into the town. Nina’s eyes widened as she looked around. There were demons, humans, and half-breeds actually living together peacefully side by side. There were nobles, merchants, peasants, and slaves. The merchants sold all kinds of things. They sold food, clothing, jewelry, while others sold things that were just plain weird. Most of the buildings were either huts or two story buildings. There were inns and stairs that led up to the buildings on the second floor. Bridges were all across the second floor. At the end of the town was a huge white castle.
“Are we going to the castle?” Nina asked.
The guard nodded.
Nina looked towards a building to see white smoke coming from it. Is that where it was coming from it? She spotted a woman carrying a huge cauldron filled with coals. The woman entered the building. A man came out holding a gun. Her eyes widened. I thought they didn’t have those in this time.
The three finally reached the castle. It was so high that it was practically touching the clouds. Two guards stood in front of it.
“What do you want?” one guard asked.
“Lord Inuyasha has returned and he wishes to speak with the lord,” the first guard said.
“Very well,” the other guard said. They opened the door and the three entered the castle.
The guard led Nina and Inuyasha to a room. He opened the door. “The human will be staying in here while Lord Inuyasha sees the lord.”
Nina nodded and entered the room. The door closed behind her. She examined the room. It was like a big closet. There were several gowns. Some were made from silk while others were made from velvet. Some were made of both. There were also hats. They were made of velvet and silk. They also either had feathers in them or flowers. She then spotted the shoes that were made to match the gowns. Some were sandals while others were regular dress shoes.
Nina saw two kids run by. One was a girl and the other one was a boy.
The girl appeared to be three or four years old. She had really long black hair that was in a braid and violet eyes. She wore a yellow and orange kimono and had sandals on. Her bangs were just like Sango’s.
The boy appeared to be five or six years old. He had his hair styled like Miroku’s and had brown eyes. He wore clothes that were just like Miroku’s except they were light green and green. He also had red prayer beads around his right hand.
Nina followed the two kids. The kids ran over to a woman.
“Mommy’s it,” the girl said.
“I am?” the woman asked.
“Yeah, Mom,” the boy said.
The woman spotted Nina and stood up. “Who are you?”
“Huh? Oh. I’m, uh, Nina,” Nina said. She noticed the woman had a resemblance to Sango.
The woman let out a sigh. “Sakura, Kai, go to your father. I’ll play with you later.”
“Okay,” the two children said and ran off.
The woman went over to Nina and held out her hand. “I’m Sango. I’m the seamstress of this castle.”
Nina and her shook hands.
“Sango, why are you here?” Nina asked. “Aren’t you a demon huntress?”
Sango’s eyes widened. “How did you know?”
“Um, long story,” Nina said. “After Inuyasha’s done talking-“
“Inuyasha? He’s here?!” Sango asked.
“Yeah. He-“
“That’s bad,” Sango said. “Very bad.”
“Huh? Why?” Nina asked.
“Well, because Naraku is the lord here,” Sango said.
Nina’s eyes widened. “He is?” A thought just then struck her mind. “Oh, no! Inuyasha!”
“What about him?” Sango asked.
“He went to see the lord and the lord is Naraku and Naraku is the one who killed Kagome,” Nina said. “This is bad. This is bad. This is bad.”
“Yes, it is,” Sango said. She then sensed a slight demon aura around Nina. “You’re half demon?”
“Yeah,” Nina said. If Sango says I am then I guess I am.
The guard opened a door to reveal a throne room. There was a red carpet with gold trimming leading to two chairs. In one of the chairs sat a man. The man oddly has a resemblance to Naraku.
Inuyasha stepped into the room.
The guard left closing the door.
Inuyasha went over to the man. He then stopped in front of the stairs.
The man smiled a bit evilly. “Ah, I see you have returned, Lord Inuyasha.”
Inuyasha put his hand to the hilt of Tessaiga. He stopped himself from unsheathing it.
The man saw this and smiled all the more. “Do you wish to kill me, Lord Inuyasha?” He cackled. “But you can not for I am the lord here. That and I am immortal. Now, you will no longer be able to avenge Kikyo or Kagome’s death.”
Inuyasha unsheathed Tessaiga. “Naraku!”
Naraku’s smile widened. “So, you’ve finally figured it out.”
Inuyasha charged after Naraku. He then went in for the kill.
Naraku dodged the attack and snapped his fingers. “Oh, Sesshomaru.”
Sesshomaru appeared by his side. He then unsheathed a sword. It wasn’t Tenseiga. “Inuyasha, this is my new sword Toukijin. It should be as powerful as Tessaiga. In fact, it may be even stronger.”
“Well, we won’t really know if we don’t try, now will we,” Inuyasha said.
He and Sesshomaru charged at each other.
Nina sighed. “Sango, do you, by any chance, have a quiver filled with arrows and a bow?”
Sango thought about this. “Yes, we do. I’ve been hiding it just in case, if by any chance, Kagome came back. Well, I suppose you could have it.” She left and came back carrying the quiver filled with arrows and the bow. “They use to belong to Kagome.” She handed them to her.
Nina put the quiver on her back and carried the bow. She then began leaving the room.
Sango ran in front of her. “Whoa! Where do you think you’re going?!”
“I’m going to save Inuyasha,” Nina said slightly pushing Sango out of the way.
Sango ran back in front of her. “Oh, no you don’t. You are not going out there. Am I clear?”
Nina growled and gave Sango a glare. “I am going to help him rather you like it or not.” Nina pushed Sango out of the way again. This time she used her strength she never knew she had. She hadn’t noticed, but Sango did.
Anna glared at her TV. She was playing Star Fox Adventure for Game Cube. She growled in frustration. “I said die already!” She shot Star Fox’ gun at the monster. The monster then killed Star Fox. Anna gave the TV an evil look. She then turned her Game Cube off. She yawned. “When’s Nina gonna call?” She shrugged. “Oh, well.” She then remembered what had happened when she called Nina. “She sounded really nervous. What if she was attacked?” She thought about this. She finally made up her mind. “I’m going to go check it out.” She left her room and went to the garage. She then grabbed her bike, left the garage, got on her bike, and went to Nina’s house.
Inuyasha and Sesshomaru’s swords clashed for what must’ve been the fiftieth time. Sesshomaru had been right. Toukijin was a match for Tessaiga. So far, Inuyasha had a cut on his cheek, a gash in his right shoulder, several cuts on his wrists, and some cuts on his legs. Sesshomaru had very little wounds. So far, all he had was a cut on his cheek and a cut on his right wrist.
Inuyasha and Sesshomaru parted again. Inuyasha charged towards Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru stood his ground. Inuyasha swung Tessaiga. Sesshomaru ducked and went in for the kill. Just as Sesshomaru was about to stab Inuyasha, an arrow hit Sesshomaru in the shoulder. He turned around and glared at the one who had shot him. It was Nina. Inuyasha looked towards Nina blankly. Nina began aiming another arrow.
“Leave Inuyasha alone or I’ll hit you in the heart this time,” Nina said.
“Who is this? Another human?” Sesshomaru asked. He turned towards Inuyasha. “I thought you had learned by now. You can’t trust humans. Haven’t you learned that from Kikyo or Kagome?”
Nina lowered her bow and looked down at the ground. “Humans can be trusted Sesshomaru. Kikyo didn’t actually betray Inuyasha. Naraku just made it look that way. And Kagome hadn’t betrayed Inuyasha at all. Naraku killed her.”
“That’s Lord Naraku to you,” Naraku said.
Nina looked towards him surprised. Why hadn’t I noticed him?
Sesshomaru looked towards Nina. He hid his confusion. How does she know who I am?
Inuyasha face filled with pain as he remembered what had happened to Kikyo and Kagome.
Naraku looked at Nina curiously. She was strangely reminding him of one of Inuyasha’s companions.
Nina lifted her bow and took aim again. This time she was aiming at Naraku.
Naraku then realized who Nina was reminding him of. Kikyo? No. Her reincarnation? No. It’s both of them. But how?
Inuyasha looked towards Nina. She shot her arrow. Inuyasha then remembered Sesshomaru wasn’t watching him. He went in for the kill, but Sesshomaru ran in front of Naraku, stopped the arrow, and made it disappear.
“Leave, human. None of this concerns you,” Sesshomaru said.
Nina grabbed out another arrow and took aim. “Actually, it does concern me. One main reason being you’re hurting my friend and I won’t allow it.”
This girl is very brave. Just like Kikyo and her reincarnation, Naraku thought. She must have the Shikon no Tama. “Give me the Shikon Jewel and you and Inuyasha may go.”
“What? No! I won’t give you the jewel, you creep!” Nina said. “You don’t even deserve it.”
“Sesshomaru, if you would take the jewel from the human,” Naraku said.
Sesshomaru ran in front of Nina. The two were eye to eye. Sesshomaru sensed no fear in the girl. This puzzled him, but he didn’t show it. “You humans are such nuisances.”
“That may be true, but I know you happen to care for a human. Namely Rin,” Nina said.
“Sesshomaru, your battle’s with me. Leave Nina alone,” Inuyasha said.
Sesshomaru ignored Inuyasha and was even more puzzled. How does she know Rin? He shook his head. “Lord Naraku, where’s the jewel at?”
“On her left side,” Naraku said.
Nina looked at Naraku surprised. Sesshomaru smiled and stabbed her with his hand. Nina winced in pain, but tried not to show it. Sesshomaru then took his hand out now holding the Shikon Jewel. He began going towards Naraku when he felt sharp claws go into his arm. He turned around and glared at the one who clawed him.
It was Nina and she was looking down at her hands, which had nails that were as long as Inuyasha’s. This confused her. A minute ago she had normal nails. Now she had claws. She then thought about this. Now I don’t always have to use a bow and arrow, but I should only use these if it’s an emergency.
Inuyasha went over to Nina and grabbed her arm. “Come on. We’re leaving.”
“But-“
“No buts,” Inuyasha said.
The two left.
Sesshomaru smirked and looked down at the Shikon Jewel in his hand. Only there was one problem. The jewel was gone.
“So, now what?” Nina asked.
“We quit,” Inuyasha said.
“What?! But we can’t,” Nina said.
“Nina, Naraku has the blasted jewel. With it, there is no way of stopping him,” Inuyasha said.
Nina frowned and reached into her pocket. She then took her hand out of it and held her hand out. In her hand was the Shikon no Tama. “Inuyasha, even if Naraku had this, I wouldn’t have given up.”
“How’d you-“
“I got it when I had clawed Sesshomaru,” Nina said. She looked down at her hands to see that her nails were back to normal. She then looked towards Inuyasha and saw his wounds. Her face filled with concern. “Are you okay? I mean, your wounds, they’ll be gone soon, right?”
“Huh? Uh, yeah,” Inuyasha said. He then remembered Sesshomaru stabbing Nina. “You should probably get some rest. I mean, the wound you got from Sesshomaru isn’t as bad as mine was, but he could’ve poisoned you and it’ll take a while for it to heal. Since it took me only three days, I’m guessing it’ll take at least a week for you.”
Nina had forgotten about her injury. She put her right hand over her wound. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll be fine.” She then felt a wave of nausea hit her and fell forward. She felt strong arms catch her. She looked up to see Inuyasha’s face filled with concern.
“Okay, huh?” Inuyasha said. “It doesn’t appear that way to me.”
Nina sighed and rested her head against Inuyasha’s chest. “I guess you’re right.” She closed her eyes. “I’m tired. I want to sleep.”
Inuyasha nodded and put Nina underneath a tree. He took his red shirt off and covered Nina with it. He then sat down next to Nina. He leaned his back against the tree, held Tessaiga in his crossed arms, crossed his legs, and closed his eyes.
Anna got off her bike and knocked on the door. She was standing in front of Nina’s house. She waited a couple of minutes and still no one answered the door. Anna knocked once more. “Hello? Anyone home?” She waited a couple of minutes again and gave up. She then turned the handle to see that it was unlocked all along. She went into the house. So far so good. “Hello? Nina? Anyone?” She then turned the corner that led to Aries and Nina’s rooms. The first room she saw was Aries’. She let out a gasp when she saw the mess in it. She then went towards Nina’s room. Her eyes widened and she let out a gasp. Nina’s room was messier than Aries’. The window was broken, some of the ceiling had fallen down, the carpet was messed up, and the wall had a big dent in it. She went over to the center of the room. She started sinking into the ground. Anna got freaked out and tried leaving, but she couldn’t move. Blue light then surrounded her. Soon, she felt the ground beneath her feet again. She looked around confused. She was in a dark square shaped room. She looked up to see the half moon and stars. “Is it already night? Oh, Mom and Dad are going to kill me.” She saw vines going out of the well. She went over to the vines and began climbing up.
Inuyasha heard groaning and opened his eyes. He looked down at Nina. Her face was pale and was covered in sweat. Nina groaned again. Inuyasha put his hand on her forehead.
“She’s burning up,” Inuyasha said.
“Inu-chan,” Nina muttered in her sleep.
Inuyasha looked at her surprised. That name, why does it sound so familiar?
Nina was sitting on top of the roof of her house. She looked up at the stars and moon. A dark creature began coming down from the moon. Nina looked at it in wonder. Blood red eyes then began glowing from its face. The creature had huge bat-like wings and huge claws on its hands and feet. It reached its hand towards Nina. Nina backed up in fear. Its hand drew near.
Nina soon found herself trapped. She screamed. A name came to her mind. “Inu-chan!”
Anna climbed out of the room and looked down it to find it wasn’t a room, but a well. She shook her head and looked around to see she was surrounded by forest. “Where am I?” She began looking around.
Inuyasha looked around. “There has to be something around here that can help Nina. Oh, why didn’t I pay attention to what all those herbs were that helped poison. Where’s Kaede when you need her?”
The dark creature grabbed Nina and held her in its hand. Nina screamed again.
“Let me go!” Nina cried.
The creature laughed darkly. Nina struggled to get free.
Anna spotted Nina lying down underneath a tree. She went over to Nina. She kneeled down beside her. Nina’s breath was becoming ragged. “Nina? What’s wrong with you?”
“Who’s there?” a voice asked.
Anna turned around to see Inuyasha. She got up and glared at Inuyasha. “What did you do to her?”
Inuyasha looked towards Anna confused. He then realized what Anna was talking about. “I didn’t do anything. It was Sesshomaru who did it to her.”
“And you didn’t protect her, did you,” Anna said accusingly.
“What? I-I…” Inuyasha was at lost for words.
“Help me,” Nina muttered. “Inu-chan.”
“Inu-chan?” Anna asked. “Does she mean you?”
Inuyasha shrugged. “Beats me.”
“And that’s what happened,” Sango said. She had told Miroku everything about what had happened when she had met Nina.
“Hmm, I see,” Miroku said.
“She reminded me of Kagome,” Sango said. “She even wore odd clothing.”
“Maybe she’s Kagome’s reincarnation,” Miroku said.
“Maybe,” Sango said.
“Anna, do you know anything about herbs?” Inuyasha asked.
Anna shook her head. “Sorry. I don’t. Nina may, but, as you can see, she’s out.”
Inuyasha hung his head down in defeat. Great. How am I suppose to help her?
The creature began crushing Nina. Nina cried out in pain. Tears filled up her eyes.
“Inu-chan!” Nina cried. “Inuyasha!”
Inuyasha heard Nina mutter his name in her sleep. There has to be something we can do.
“You what?!” Naraku asked angrily.
“The jewel, I lost it,” Sesshomaru said.
“How?” Naraku asked.
“The human must’ve taken it from me when she attacked me,” Sesshomaru said.
Naraku looked towards one of his guards. “Bring me Rin.”
The guard nodded and left.
“You’re-you’re not going to hurt her, are you?” Sesshomaru asked nervously.
“You’ll see,” Naraku said.
A couple of minutes later, the guard came back holding a fifteen-year-old girl. She had long black hair that reached her waist and brown eyes. She wore a light blue kimono and sandals.
Sesshomaru looked at the young, beautiful girl. He hardly recognized her. He hadn’t seen her for about four years. “Rin.”
The girl looked towards Sesshomaru. Her eyes lit up. “Sesshomaru.”
“I see you both remember each other,” Naraku said. He went over to Rin and unsheathed one of the guard’s swords.
“Naraku, don’t hurt her. Hurt me instead,” Sesshomaru said.
Naraku looked towards Sesshomaru. “I prefer taking it out on Rin.” He turned to face Rin again and cut her on the arm.
Rin winced in pain. She looked towards Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru began feeling guilty.
“We have to get our rest,” Inuyasha said.
“I know,” Anna said. She lied down on her back and fell asleep.
Inuyasha sighed and sat down beside Nina with his legs crossed. He leaned against the tree, held Tessaiga in his crossed arms, and closed his eyes.
Nina looked down at the roof of her house and spotted a confused Inuyasha. Her eyes lit up. “Inuyasha!”
Inuyasha looked up at her. “Nina.” He unsheathed Tessaiga and jumped up. “Let her go!” He swung his sword and cut off the creature’s hand.
Nina screamed and held out her hand.
Inuyasha caught her hand and landed on the ground. He then let Nina’s hand go and put her behind him. “This is just a dream, right?”
“Um, I don’t think it is,” Nina said. “I could feel pain.” She whimpered. “Inuyasha, I’m scared.”
“Huh?” Inuyasha looked towards her concerned. She could feel pain? “Nina, in the real world you’re poisoned.”
“It must be from Sesshomaru’s attack,” Nina said. “Inuyasha, make it go away.” She was near to tears.
Is she really that scared? Inuyasha thought. He growled and glared at the creature.
The creature glared down at Inuyasha and used its other claw to go after him. Inuyasha jumped out of the way and onto its head. The creature roared and thrashed its head. Inuyasha fell off.
“Inuyasha!” Nina cried. She tried running over to him, but the creature blocked her way.
The creature reached its hand towards Nina again.
Nina looked at it angrily. “You hurt my friend.” White light surrounded her.
Inuyasha sat up rubbing his head. He then saw the white light around Nina. He watched in awe, surprise, and puzzlement.
A bow appeared in Nina’s hands and a quiver filled with arrows appeared on her back. She grabbed out an arrow and took aim. She then shot it. The white light left her body and surrounded the arrow. It then shot the creature. The creature cried out in pain and disappeared.
Nina fell to her knees. Inuyasha ran over to her and kneeled down beside her.
“Are you okay?” Inuyasha asked.
Nina slowly nodded. She then looked up at him. “Are you?”
“Yeah,” Inuyasha said. “I’m fine.”
Inuyasha woke up and looked towards Nina. Anna had also woken up and was looking at her best friend with concern.
Nina slowly woke up and sat up.
Anna gasped. “Your wound is gone!”
Inuyasha looked towards where Nina’s wound had been. It was gone. “How did-“
Nina looked towards Inuyasha. “Thanks for saving me.”
Anna looked at the two confused.
