Inuyasha: A New Beginning

Guardian Angel
Prologue
Kagome sat down beside the well and looked down at the necklace in her hands that held the completed Shikon Jewel. It had been a tough battle, but they had finally taken all the remaining Shikon shards that were within Naraku’s possession. They had also killed Naraku in the process. Kagome held the jewel close to her heart. She was unsure what to do now. Should she use the jewel to wish herself full human or should she give it to Inuyasha to have whatever he wanted? Her grip on it tightened. She would find Inuyasha and ask him what he wished to do with it. She put the necklace back on and began running to the spot she knew Inuyasha would be at. Soon, she arrived at the Go-Shinboku tree. Kagome looked around and saw no sign of Inuyasha. She frowned. Normally he would be here. Where is he? she thought. Suddenly, she heard rustling in the bushes. She yelped and turned around to see her worse nightmare.
Inuyasha, meanwhile, was looking for Kagome. He was going to stop her from going back to her time. He wouldn’t allow it. He was not about to lose the one person that was must precious to him than anything the world had to offer. He suddenly heard a scream followed by someone calling out his name. His blood froze. That voice was way familiar. He sniffed the air and soon realized his fear had come true. “Kagome.”
Kagome started walking back in fear. How had Naraku survived? She had seen him die with her own two eyes. Naraku advanced on her. She turned to run, but tripped. Naraku jumped at her. Kagome screamed again. Naraku smiled with malice and began choking the girl. At last, he would have the one thing he must wanted. The Shikon no Tama. Kagome started feeling dizzy. She felt no air getting to her lungs. They burned with pain. The girl blinked back tears. I’m sorry, Inuyasha. She blacked out.
Inuyasha arrived on the scene and watched in horror and surprise. In horror because he may have come too late to save his Kagome and in surprise because his sworn enemy whom he thought he killed had lived. Inuyasha shook his head and unsheathed Tessaiga. “Get your bloody hands off her!”
Naraku looked at Inuyasha and smiled all the more evilly. “You would love for me to do that, now wouldn’t you, Inuyasha.” His smile widened. “But you will not have your way.” Before Inuyasha could do anything, Naraku stabbed Kagome in the stomach with his own hand. Kagome regained consciousness and cried out in pain. Inuyasha’s grip on his sword tightened.
Kagome looked towards him sadly. “Inu…yasha…”
Inuyasha charged after Naraku. “I have had enough with you! Die!” He jumped up and positioned his sword getting ready to go in for the kill.
Naraku, who hadn’t seen this coming, quickly jumped put of the way and surrounded Inuyasha with his miasma. After it had cleared, Naraku was no longer there.
Inuyasha growled in frustration and sheathed his sword. He then turned to Kagome, kneeled down beside her, and hugged her holding her head close to his heart.
“Inu…yasha,” Kagome softly said.
Inuyasha felt a tear go down his cheek. “Shh, Kagome. You’ll only use up your strength talking to me.”
“But…I won’t live,” Kagome said as tears began going down her face.
“No, Kagome, you won’t,” Inuyasha said pulling her closer to him and began sobbing knowing that she spoke the truth.
“Inuyasha…before I go…I want to tell you…to burn the Shikon Jewel…with my remains,” Kagome said.
Inuyasha nodded sadly and kissed her on the forehead. “I’ll make sure that happens.”
Before Kagome died she whispered, “I’ll come back to you. I promise.”
Inuyasha held her tighter and whispered in her ear, “And I’ll find you and protect you forever. I promise.”
That night, Inuyasha and the others had done exactly what Kagome wished. They had burned her body along with the Shikon no Tama. Sango was still in Miroku’s arms crying her eyes out from finding out about her best friend’s death. Miroku held her close also very sad of Kagome’s death that he knew very well that Sango would definitely slap him and very angry at him if he tried to grope her. Shippo was on the ground crying his eyes out as well. Kaede was watching sadly. She had wished that Kagome wouldn’t have had to go through a similar death to Kikyo’s. Inuyasha had watched the whole thing trying to not show any signs of weaknesses, but that hadn’t lasted when it was over. He had run back to the scene of the crime and began crying his heart out. Never again would he see the cheerful girl. He would no longer be able to smell her gentle, sweet scent. He had lost the one he loved forever.
He got up with his fists clenched in anger and sorrow. “I will find you, Naraku. And when I do, you’ll be sorry you ever lived.”
