This episode began with Thomas, Van,and a team of soldiers busting into a mansion to arrest a bunch of people for treason against Emperor Rudolph. In the middle of the raid, the phone rings and Van answers. Turns out that the traitors have hired an assassin by the name of "Phantom" to do the dirty deed. Van tells the Phantom that since they have caught his employers he should drop the contract. Of course the Phantom tells Van that he has his assassins code of conduct i.e. Thou shalt carry out contracts especially when Thou have received money in advance.

Viola and Rosso meet with Van and Thomas on board a Whale King and determine that the most likely place the Phantom will strike will be at the Guyloss Empire's Grand Prix, which the Emperor will be attending. The four of them work up a plan to attempt to capture the Phantom.

Meanwhile on the island where the Grand Prix is held, we find Moonbay hooning down the track. (She looks cute in racing gear). Moonbay together with Irvine and the professor are hoping to make some quick bucks. Moonbay is piloting a racer modified by the professor using engines liberated (or borrowed) from the Imperial army. In the heats she does extremely well and comes in third but is baffled by the performance of an unknown racer who manages to tailgate her all the way.

The Phantom shows up in a ship with optical camoflauge gear with a GunSniper. Unluckily for him, someone notices his boat disappearing when he engaged the stealth gear. Luckily though, that chap was too busy fishing to do much about it then.

Van, Thomas, Rosso and Viola arrives and set about searching the grandstand area for a potential spot where the Phantom will probably strike. They do not notice that between the stands there is an extremely small gap that is directly in line with the Imperial Box. It seems that the Phantom has a GunSniper with superior stabilizers to compensate for the rocking of his ship and that he intends to shoot Rudolph through this gap. Unfortunately this escapes our friends.

The race begins and for a bit of drama, Moonbay almost stalls her racer at the startup. (These racers and races reminds me of the Pod Race scene in Star Wars Episode I.. going through tunnels, desert and having engine pods). She recovers and begins to progess up the field. During the race we are told (by the commentator) that Moonbay used to be called Fireball and that she is back after an absence of 4 years from the racing circuit.

Meanwhile, back at the harbour, our fisherman finally tells some troops regarding the GunSniper that he saw. The troops notify Thomas and Van who were scouting the island from the air. Thomas and Van manage to detect the Phantom using infra-red scanners and bombs the Phantoms ship just before he takes out Rudolph. Unfortunately, the Phantom escapes, swimming underwater. Van and Thomas then proceed back to the Grand Prix arena to look for the Phantom.

In the race, Moonbay continues to makes her way up the ranks. Hot on her heels though, the unknown rookie was storming through the other racers. While the race heats up, the Phantom started planting explosives among the Gustav carriers for the racers. Van catches sight of him and attempts to stop him but they are too far ahead. The Phantom detonates the explosives. The explosion distracts Rosso and Viola who rushes out of the Imperial Box right into a waiting gas grenade thrown by the Phantom. The Phantom rushes in and draws a bead at Rudolph who convieniently fizzes out. It was a hologram of the Emperor all the time!!. Tricked, the Phantom turns around to find Van and Thomas standing at the doorway blocking his escape.

In the final lap of the race, Moonbay finds herself in the lead with the rookie just behind her. The rookie makes a move and Moonbay tries to defend her position. Unfortunately for her, she misjudged a turn and her right wing scrapes the fence. This gave the rookie enough leeway to make it a nose to nose drag to the checkered flag. More bad fortune for Moonbay as her engines start to fail on the final stretch. She could only scream in frustration as she sees the newcomer rookie take the honours.

The rookie pulls up into the pits next to 2 very familiar figures... Fiona and Zeek. Wait.. it couldn't be...but it is.. the winner of the Guylos Grand Prix is non other than Rudolph who had been racing anonymously. Zeek and Fiona do a victory dance with Rudolph when he climbs out.

The episode ends with Moonbay and Irvine being denouced by "Gramps" to the Imperial troops that they were the thieves who "liberated" the engine for the racer...
