Van's New Power_______________________________
This episode begins with the Blade Liger being repaired. Van takes the Liger through it's paces by going about an obstacle course but finds that somehow, the Liger doesn't behave as well as he'd expected. Dr D speculated to our friends that perhaps the Liger needs a speed boost and that he has some boosters that could be used potentially.
So they adjourned to the booster testing ground where Dr D fired up the test Type 1 boosters. The team was amazed at the performance until the boosters blew up leaving half the base in ruins. Dr D then wants to attached the Type 2 boosters to the Lightning Saix. Irvine of course rejects that immediately having seen what damage the Type 1 boosters wrought. Moonbay then drags Dr D to one side and we find the next test with the Lightning Saix and the Gustav side by side, with the massive Type II boosters attached. It seems that Moonbay has agreed to test the boosters on the condition that she gets to keep them at the end of the test. Irvine will videograph the entire experiment in the Saix. Moonbay guns the Gustav and fires the boosters. The Gustav takes off like a rocket, rapidly catching up with Irvine. In the meantime back at the base we find Hiltz calmly appraising the situation. Also, it was brought to the good Dr's attention that Moonbay's Gustav left some bits on the ground when she fired the boosters.
Moonbay, being the speed addict, maxes out the boosters and manages to overtake Irvine. Unfortunately when Dr D asks her to complete the test and shut down the boosters. She couldn't and the brakes don't work for it seems that the bits that fell off the Gustav were the bits required to stop the Gustav! Finally the boosters rip themselves off the Gustav and soars off to the clear blue yonder and a stunned Moonbay manages to stop just before she kisses the cliff. Seems like the brakes were working but the boosters were too powerful! Dr D then attaches the Type 3 boosters to the Blade Liger with an off hand remark that he didn't expect the Type 1 and Type 2 boosters to work. Fiona in the meantime observes that Zeek looks a bit under the weather. However, when she tries to tell that to Van, he brushes her off as he is about to test the Liger with the new boosters saying that he's leaving Zeek in Fiona's care. The Liger performs well with the upgraded boosters but Van is still not happy. Dr D then observes to the team that it may be that it is because Van's skills have improved so much, that the Liger may not be a match for Van's abilities. Even putting new boosters in may not do any good as the Liger might need to be further enhanced. The problem was that the Liger is now currently almost at it's peak. Dr D goes on to suggest that perhaps Van needs a new Zoid.
Enter Hiltz.. he activates a bunch of remote control Zoids (RevRaptors or similar) and sets them onto Van. Van tells Dr D, Irvine and Thomas to stay out of this and defends himself with the Liger. He does reasonably well but ends up pushing the Liger well beyond its spec causing damage to the joints. Hiltz observes that Van is still too slow to stand up to Raven and the GenoBreaker. Just as Van was about to get thrashed again, Zeek merges with the Liger. Fiona tries to stop this saying that Zeek has a new unknown level of power and that merging with the Liger with Van at its control could conceivably destroy Van.
Merged with Zeek, the Liger performed fantastically well and manages to wipe out almost all the attacking Zoids. Hiltz gets Ambient to merge with the final Zoid to attack Van. The two organiod enhanced zoids blurred around each other but Van emerged victorious. Hiltz recalls Ambient and walks off smirking that finally Van has managed to unleash Zeek's full potential. The episodes ends with Van thanking Zeek for being such a wonderful friend etc. Of course Zeek gives his usual organiod equivalent of "woof-woof" to Van. ___________________________________________Well done, Ray, well done! |
