The Boy From The Ruins_______________________________ This episode begins with the Liger
lying damaged at the bottom of the cliff after being thrashed by
Raven. Van climbs out of the Liger and promptly falls into the
nearby river. Zeek tries to rescue Van but fails because of
injuries. Van goes over a huge waterfall and disappears.
Ryss meets with Raven and asks why
Raven doesn't finish Van off. Raven tells Ryss that he can take
Van anytime because he is better than Van. Meanwhile, Moonbay,
Fiona, Irvine and Thomas begins their search for Van. Fiona
directs them to the ravine where the Liger lies. While Irvine and
Thomas rappel down the side of the ravine, Irvine tells Thomas
that Fiona loves Van which shocks Thomas. Our heroes managed to
retrieve the Liger and Zeek. They continue downstream to look for
Van. Thomas sends out a request to Imperial Headquarters for
search assistance from a downstream Imperial base. The downstream Imperial base is
commanded by a Captain (Siefers or something like that) that Van
bested some years ago and as usual, he hates Van's guts. Siefers
would've disregarded the order to assist except that Ryss comes to
him and tells him that Van will discover that he, the captain, had
been skimming off the local villagers. Siefers then changes his
minds and orders his troops to hunt Van down.
Van awakens to find himself injured (of course) near a village. He heads there and finds that the villagers refuses to help him. He then collapses from his injuries. When he came to, he found himself in a ruined hall/cavern where a boy called Nikolo had bandaged up his wounds. The boy confides to Van that he loves zoids and would like to know how to pilot his zoid. Van teaches him. Meanwhile, Siefers and his team arrives at the village having had reports that Van was sighted there. Siefers bombards the village slightly then demands the villagers find Van for him within an hour else he will waste the village. Van overhears this as he scouted for the reasons for the explosions. Van then steals a RevRaptor and confronts Siefers. Using his superior skills he disables a good portion of Siefers's troops before they manage to corner him.
Seeing him cornered the villagers realized that Van was a good guy after all and form a human shield around him to protect him from Siefers. Unperturbed, Siefers prepares to open fire on Van and the villagers. Irvine appears on the scene with the Lightning Saix and ambushes Siefers, more of Siefers's troops are disabled. Our heroes have arrived and Thomas asks for Siefers's surrender and arrest. Siefers, defiant to the last, attempts to strafe everyone, but Thomas disables his RedHorn with a shot from the Dibison (although it looked as if Moonbay did it with her Gustav). Everyone gathered outside their zoids for a reunion. Unknown to them, Ryss is in her blue GenoSaurer preparing a plasma blast to annihilate our unprotected heroes. She fires the blast and finds it intercepted by Nikolo and his zoid. (This is where things get hazy) Ryss recognizes Nikolo as the boy who saved her when she awoke from her stasis.
The next scene shows Van showing the villagers and the team, the ruins where he met Nikolo. To his surprise he couldn't find Nikolo and of Nikolo's zoid, they found a very old deactivated zoid. The villagers tells Van that there was a boy 10 years ago who loved zoids but died when the Helic Republic attacked the village in an attempt to secure an ancient zoidian girl (Ryss). The episode ends with a thoughtful/stunned Ryss walking and being met by Raven who asked her how she missed her opportunity to take Van & team out. Ryss asks Raven if he is making fun of her and when Raven replies no, she tells him to get out of her way. --- my comments --- an interesting episode that sheds more light on Ryss's history and shows that the bad dudes attitudes might be changing. Many Thanks, Ray! |
