Attack of the Geno Breaker_______________________________
This episode begins with Van running a test in
the Blade Liger. Moonbay, Fiona, Thomas and Irvine are observers. The Liger's
speed and performance surprises Irvine. Fiona explains that she has done an
upgrade on the Liger and now the Liger can almost match the Lightning Saix in
speed. When Van completes the test and returns to the base he thanks Fiona for
the upgrade and Moonbay pouts (quite prettily) because she helped too. Laughing
Van thanks both his friends for their assistance. Fiona then presents to Thomas
a circuit board that will provide the D-Bison a one-shot protection against the
GenoBreaker's particle beam. As usual Thomas goes red faced and starts to
stammer his thanks at receiving such a gift etc.. before Fiona drops a bombshell
and offers an identical circuit board to Irvine. You could feel Thomas' jaw drop
from here to eternity. The team is then interrupted by the Colonel. He
explains that he has bad news, that the Imperial Research Lab developing the
Lightning Saix has been destroyed. The totality and pattern of the destruction
indicates that it is the GenoBreaker. Even worse is that the GenoBreaker's trail
of destruction is headed in our heroes way. As the Colonel leaves he asks Fiona
to meet with him later at his office.
Scene break to Hiltz and Ryss who are surveying
the potential battlefield where the GenoBreaker will probably meet our valiant
forces. Ryss asks why Hiltz wants to force Raven and Van into a showdown. She
also hints that there is something mysterious at the way the G.Breaker has
changed its colors to red from the GenoSaurer's blue/black and it might be
something to do with Ambient, Hiltz's organoid. Hiltz tells Ryss she should now.
It seems that Hiltz only wants someone to win and doesn't care who it is. Back in the Colonel's office, Fiona is shocked
when the Colonel asks her to remove the enhancements she has made to the Liger.
He explains that the increased speed of the Liger made it difficult to maintain
the attack formation and that the safest place for the Liger is at the rear of
the formation. This is because it will have the lowest probability of getting
hit. He then goes on and asks Fiona to remove the shield circuitry from the
Lightning Saix and the D-Bison. He explains that the circuitry has the potential
to cause tremendous energy drains on Zoids power systems and increases the
probability of Zoid malfunctions like command system freezes and miscalculation
of energy levels. Fiona tells him that without the shield circuitry, Thomas and
Irvine could die and refuses to do it. The Colonel tells Fiona that he is
willing to sacrifice everyone to destroy the GenoBreaker, and it has to be done
here. He gives her a final chance to remove it or he'll orders someone else to
do it. Then he throws a curve ball, suggesting that Fiona joins his own special
unit in researching Ancient Zoidians and organoids. Fiona storms out saying
she'll handle the removal of the circuitry.
The G.Breaker is sighted approaching the base and
our heroes roll out to meet him. Raven is surprised that they sent only 3 Zoids.
Irvine and Van charges out.. surprise surprise, the Liger keeps up with the Saix.
Obviously Fiona did not undo her enhancements. The Colonel back at the
observation post glares at Fiona but is surprised as the team manages to
maintain the attack formation. Irvine attacks the G.Breaker but his rounds do no
damaged. It seems only the Liger's blades can do damage. So Thomas launches a
Megalo-Max and the G.Breaker disappears in a mass of explosions. The dust clears
and we find that he missed, the G.Breaker has taken to the air. Raven then lands
the G.Breaker and directs a charge particle blast at the D-Bison. Thomas
frantically activates the shield, it seems that when told by Fiona to remove it,
he refused saying that it was a gift to him by Fiona and that the Colonel has no
right etc.. The shield withstands the particle beam with Thomas giving thanks to
Fiona. . When Van attempts to drive the Liger at the G.Breaker, Raven uses the
retractable claw of the G.Breaker to draw the Liger off balanced. Irvine steps in with the Saix, easily dodging the
G.Breakers claw with the Saix mobility but gets too close. The G.Breaker fires
off another particle beam but Irvine ups his shield! He too refused to take off
the circuitry saying he's not of the republican forces and that the colonel
knows nothing about fighting. The shield holds and in the meantime Van attempts
to shoot the foot locks of the G.Breaker. Raven wises up to the team tactics and
takes the G.Breaker up into the air. Van once again drives the Liger up to
attack the G.Breaker and succeeds in slicing off one of the foot locks.
Believing that Raven can't use his particle
cannon, the Colonel orders the rest of the Republican forces to attack. The
attack force drops their stealth shielding and lobs in enough ammo to level a
small mountain. When the smoke clears the G.Breaker is not damaged. It's shield
withstood the attack. Raven, being extremely pissed off then shows that the
G.Breaker does not need to be on the ground to fire the particle cannon. He does
a 360degree strafe of the Gondolas wiping out the entire attack force and
leaving only our 3 heroes. Seeing that, Van attacks Raven once again, but
this time Raven is prepared and grabs the Liger. He then ascends into the sky
and drops the Liger onto the ground. A stunned Van barely manages to trigger the
Liger's shields as Raven fires the particle cannon at point blank range. The
Liger survives the blast but as Irvine and Thomas tries to help they find that
their zoids have problems. The shield circuitry they used caused the D-Bison to
miscalculate the amount of ammo remaining so Thomas has run out of ammo and
can't attack. The Lightning Saix suffered a command system freeze. So the
Colonel was right after all!!! Van challenges Raven "Mano a Mano" (his
words) and leads the G.Breaker away to the edge of a ravine. There he attempts
to attack Raven using the same attack that he used against the G.Saurer. In the
meantime, Fiona exits the command centre and heads out in a Reddler.
Unfortunately for Van, against the particle beam which Raven pushed to the max,
the Liger has insufficient power, the shield holds but the Liger is pushed
backwards and flung off the cliff.. The cliff hanger ending (pun intended) showed Fiona's Reddler hovering above the ravine with her calling out... "VAN!!!!!" ___________________________________________
