A blinding sandstorm is slowing Imperial forces. In a communication with Lord Prozen, Major Marcus is told that Major Shubaltz has gone ahead. He is also told that if he presses forward, there could be a promotion of Lieutenant Colonel awaiting him. Marcus takes the bait and moves his troops forward.

Not far off....a boy, whose cape flows in the sandstorm's breeze, surveys a Zoid graveyard that was once active Republican Guysack sleepers. By his side stands a black organoid.

Many hours later, the Gustav carrying Moonbay and the others approaches that very graveyard. They question what had happened...knowing it couldn't have been a battle since there was no evidence of any Imperial zoids. The group continues to head towards a village not too far off. As our heroes get close to their destination, they notice Republican soldiers digging trenches to prepare for war.

Once inside the village, Irvine and Moonbay are getting bad vibes resolving that they should leave quickly. They were right...for soon the group is surrounded by Republican soldiers. One soldier handles Fiona harshly which angers Van. Irvine and Zeke divert the soldier's attention enough so that Van and Fiona are able to run away.

A young boy with jet-black hair, sleeping atop a haystack, is jolted awake by the sound of Republican soldiers chasing the two runaways. He watches as Van and Fiona elude the men. Hidden deep within the stalks of a corn field, Van hears one soldier yell "Halt" followed by the sounds of a major confrontation. They emerge to find one boy standing amidst several unconscious soldiers. Did he do this all by himself? When more soldiers approach, Fiona grabs the boy and the three of them run for it.

Back at the base, Irvine and Moonbay are removed from their cell and taken to Major Ford. The Major explains the attack of a 30 zoid battalion and how it appears to be the result of one zoid....an organoid similar to Zeke. He apologizes for the misunderstanding and told them they should have shown the letter from Captain Herman in the first place. Moonbay asks why a Major would view a letter from a Captain as a priority. The Major replies..."Don't you realize who Captain Herman is?" Just then the Major receives word that the kids have been spotted.

Even though he led them to water, Van and Fiona find the boy very elusive and unfriendly. Introductions reveal his name to be Raven. Raven asks what Van is going to do about his friends in jail. Van says he'll have his organoid friend Zeke get them out.

"So you're powerless without a zoid...", Raven says sarcastically.

The remark does not sit well with Van, but they continue on. Eventually, they come to a mountainous region, which looks like a good place to hideout.

At the base, Republican soldiers are preparing their Godos for mobilization. Irvine heads out in his command wolf, while Moonbay waits for the Shield Liger to be mounted on the Gustav. Soon Irvine spots Van and warns him to stay away from Raven for it was he who is responsible for the zoid graveyard.

Van asks..."Why, Raven?"

The boy simply answers..."Because I despise zoids!"

Raven jumps from the cliff landing on a Red Zabre Fang and calls out...."Shadow!!!" Out comes the black organoid. Sure enough...it looks a lot like Zeke.

A battalion of Republican Godos are approaching. One by one they are destroyed by the boy. Raven smirks in satisfaction.

Van begs him to stop..."How can you do something so evil?"

Moonbay arrives with the shield liger. Van calls for Zeke to fuse. Just as Raven is about to destroy a crippled Godos, Van fires on him. The boy declares he will defeat Raven!

Raven just laughs at that humorous statement retracting..."The only thing worse than your piloting is your fighting skills..."

Raven gains the upper hand stomping on the shield liger. Irvine joins in the battle. Raven prepares to finish them off when his comlink activates. It appears to be Major Marcus inquiring on his location and the need for them to join forces.

Raven takes off and with a devilish grin he utters..."Playtime is over."

(Note from Julie) Well, well, well...we finally meet Raven. One interesting fact...Raven did all that damage WITHOUT Shadow's help.
