Our heroes gaze happily over the peaks of Mt. Iselina for just over the mountains is the Republic. Van is anxious to have breakfast, but Irvine insists they must leave. Irvine feared the thick fog would make their venture quite treacherous.

Meanwhile in a wooded area of Zi, Viola is dreaming of her departure from Rosso. She is very angry with Van who she believes is the cause of their breakup. When she awakens, Jarro has arrived with the news that Van and the others were heading towards Mt. Iselina. Viola is very familiar with the area and the rumors of monsters. Her and Jarro set out to seek their revenge.

At Mt. Iselina Irvine and Fiona were separated from Van and Moonbay. Seems that Van's extreme case of hunger caused him to chase an illusion of a flying papaya. When Irvine and Fiona went after him, they were the ones who got lost. Suddenly, Moonbay and Van are approached by what appears to be a monster. Zeke, too, cringes in terror. Happily, it is just a young girl (Rosa) in her Godos. She explains that the shadows are a trick played by the sun, and the elders believe the mysterious phenomena is a way of protecting their colony, Mt. Iselina.

Rosa takes Van and Moonbay back to her colony where she introduces them to the villagers. After Van stuffs himself on the generously offered food, Rosa shows him around her village. Van tells Rosa of his adventures and how he first met Zeke. Rosa proudly tells of her sister in the Imperial Army and the words she uttered, "One day the world will become a peaceful place, and I'm going to fight to make sure that happens."

Suddenly, Viola and Jarro appear. Zeke fuses with the Shield Liger so Van may prepare for a fight. Viola lures Van to a gorge where the fog is very thick. The Shield Liger's incredible jumping capabilities are able to take down Jarro. Viola, on the other hand, has led Van to an area where the shadows have camouflaged her Redler. Van is assisted by a beam of light which allows him to easily bring down the Redler. That beam was Rosa in her Godos.

After the battle, Van and Viola come face to face. Rosa is stunned and disappointed to see her sister, Viola, pull a gun on Van. Not wanting Rosa to think badly of her sister, Van claims he is a mercenary and made up all of his stories. Viola is truly grateful to Van, but plays along, tearfully telling him to leave. At that point, Moonbay grabs Van, and they flea. Moonbay is upset with Van's recklessness and gives him a good slug to knock some sense into him.

Finally the fog has lifted. Irvine and Fiona are relieved as the Gustav approaches them. A short time later Van and Fiona are sleeping peacefully while Moonbay and Irvine discuss their reasons for traveling with the youngsters. They decided to prevent any future "flying papayas" by never again skipping breakfast.
