Curriculum 17: Pro-Ing Part Two/ The Sorrowful Battle.

                                      Zero: This is GOA, a well known protector of Zion, the last star that remains of human use, many years before the first planet to be inhabited by humans was destroyed by the alien creature known as Victim. The people not to much earlier had discovered the planet Zion and made use of it by colonizing there. But the connection between earth and Zion are now severed for the earth, and it is the duty of GOA to protect Zion, as long as we can stand.

                                   The last couple months mother has been a large amount of fighting, the Victim are getting harder now and the candidates here are becoming stronger. I haven't quite made it to the Pilot ranking yet, but I will and soon, I hope. I have now been given the duty of mentoring a smaller newer candidate that just arrived here last month. The going's been tough but I will come home a pilot.

                  "What are you talking about?" asked Rei. "What I am saying is that we make a truce for the time being on how we go about this next battle." said Zero. "Battle my foot, is that any reason why I should cooperate with you?" "Augh!!!" said Zero grabbing Rei by his shirt collar. " You don't get it do you, we do cooperate or we get the hell kicked out of us by Hiead and his little pipsqueak of a candidate." Rei put his hands up and nervously said ,"Ok, ok, just put me down for a sec. Ah thanks. We could do this, I suppose I could agree to this.........and I accept. I wouldn't want to get my butt kicked another time." "Your right," Zero: Besides it's the only way I will be a pilot. "Have you seen their stats lately??" "Huh," said Zero. "If you mean what I think, than no. The GOA staff don't allow us to see other peoples stats unless..........have you been hacking into the data base???" "Well, you could say that, or you couldn't. Which ever will keep me out of trouble." "Your right, did you already have this skill?" "No, I just learned it from Clay, he says he knows you and it's  nothing more than overriding the frames security system." "This isn't happening, well if you wanna get in trouble than go ahead, but leave me out of it." said Zero. "Sooooo..........I guess you don't want to hear about Hieads weak points eh?" Zero stalled and turned around. "Did you say weaknesses?"

                           "Hey Reena try kicking up the charge a little?" said Garu. "Ok, how's this.." "........Um I think it's alright, see how the reaction time goes." Gareas moved his fingers slightly, immediately the Ingrids hands and fingers moved. "Is that better?" "Yeah, I am coming out." The hatch to the Ingrid opened and the pilot slowly jumped out." "Yeah she'll be fine." said Garu. "Did you feel any twinges in you body when you moved anything." "No, the things fine." "I am currently upgrading the battle system so you can go on." Gareas: But still, it hasn't been the same since that candidate fell into the cockpit. Why is it acting this way, what did that candidate do? "Hey Gar," said Riuroute. "Hey Riu, I just got in, so you wanna go get somethin' to eat," "You know the answer to that one." said Riuroute. " Oh, yeah did you hear about that thing at GOA we have to go to?" "That  admission ceremony, of course, it's really a pain though, because it's such a bother, and we have to stay there for three days, " "Why three, I mean isn't our duty here, the GIS vessel is the closest to Zion, so what is going to happen to Zion if we stay at GOA for three days." "Not sure, but I am sure they'll think of someway to make sure Zion is still here when we get back." said Riuroute.

                            "Consider this a warning, Zero as soon as I tell you this you will become a party to a hacker." said Rei. "Sounds cool, although I don't want to but what the hell go ahead." said Zero. "Check it out! Hiead has several flaws in his stances and is very undefensive. Check out this screen shot!" "I see he isn't guarding anywhere and  there are open spots every where." "Exactly, now all we have to do is get him into a situation where he will have to attack us and to focus ourselves on the defense." "But there still is the problem of his EX, he has a high one and is almost as good as mine, and not to mention he has this EX berserk that he goes into after he gets ticked." "I know only to well." said Rei. "What?" "Oh, nothing." Rei: In fact it was something.

Flashback: I was only 12 when it happened, I was playing with some friends and I felt the harshness of the game and soon pushed myself past what I was capable of. But this caused an EX reaction, I didn't know it at the time, but I went out after that.

I can still remember the pain and how dizzy I felt, the doctor said that the blood just flowed a large puddle out of my body and I was going to need a transfusion. That was when I first discover the EX and have strived to master it, but I haven't yet. I still have allot to learn before I can pilot the Blue Goddess Eeva Reena.

"Rei did you fall asleep or something? " said Zero. "No sorry, I was just thinking lets go I need to access the libraries computer." "Let's go," said Zero. "Sorry I forgot I have to report back to Instructor. " "Go on, I 'll catcha later." said Zero.  Rei got up from his chair and went on.

                          "Hiead, oh it's just you, what do you want." said Zero. "You've been wandering around here for the past half hour." "So, go mind your own business I'm busy."  "Don't give me that, you have had you EX upped haven't you." "You bastard! Lay off. I don't have to listen to you." Hiead grabbed Zero by the shirt. "Your such a child, why not here right now!" "Put me down!!" said Zero thrusting his elbow into Hieads arm. "Damn! That hurt, just tell me have you ridden in that goddess!!!" "What's the big deal!!!! I don't get this crap from anyone else but you. Why should I tell you anyway." "All I want is to know............." said Hiead. "Leave me be. Stop hassling me with you stupid questions anyway." "As you wish." said Hiead. "Oh and by the way better watch your partner, or he might get ahead of you." Hiead slowly walked down the hall. "Uh Zero are you alright??" said Kizna. "Yah, he is just being a jerk. Like always, but he's been hassling me more since those new candidates were brought to GOA." "Strange, I don't suppose it could have anything to do with that scrawny kid Rei do you??" "No it's much more than that, power........." "Say again Zero??" "Hiead is wanting to raise the level of his EX, but he can't according to GOA rules, if he uses it he gets demerits. He has a problem but how can I find out if I can't get any info from Clay's hacking!"

                               Riu walked down the hall of GOA and soon found himself whistling. "Hey" he'd say to a candidate that walked past. But no response. "Wow the candidates are still as cheery as ever. Hmmm I wonder if it's time for lunch yet." "Lunch isn't until 2:00." said Rei walking past. "2:00!??? I can't wait that long." said Riu. "Toughen up, I have had to." said Rei. "I see, so what's your number??" "90, as if it was any of your business anyway." "Well according to my little guide here you new." said RiuRoute pulling out as small pamphlet. "So what do you think of GOA?" "It can just go to hell, I am only here for the toy." "Huh what toy." "You know the blue vessel Eeva Reena!" "Oh that toy. And just how do you propose that you make it." asked Riuroute. "I'll make it some how." "Hmmm that's what I said. But it isn't as easy as that. You see......" "Hey look I appreciate your advice, but I have to go...."  "Hey no skin of my nose, just trying to be helpful." "Yeah sure," Rei took of down the hall and then disappeared around the corner. He left Riuroute standing at the door way to the mess hall and he stared for a moment,"Kids these days!"

                             Elsewhere Rei walked his way into the Pro-Ing Battle Simulator. Rie: Although these a live tests, the environment is simulated to get a feel for fighting in any situation and helps teach adaptability in order for a candidate to be able to withstand any situation. "Ok, ladies 01 and 90 ,02 and 92 get lined up for instructions. You all have a feel for what the Pro-Ing battle is like. Now it is time for all out war." "Hmph," said Hiead. "Ok get to you Pro-Ings and let's get started. " The four walked down the hangar corridor, "Let's hope our strategy works." said Rei. "Just kick ass." replied Zero.

                              "Hey Riu, is it anything like you remember??" "Yah, except they changed the lunch room around and I think they re-did the kitchen." "Only you would notice that." said Garu. "Don't give me that shit. *sigh* I don't suppose you noticed anything interesting. " "Not really, just looks like GOA. And according to the schedule there is going to be a two on two battle at the sim. Should be starting right about now!" "Ok let's go see if they have anyone close to coming to our skill level." said Riuroute. "I seriously doubt that, let's go!"

                               "Dammit!!!!" watch my back. "I'll try but they don't lay of Zero." Rei: Starting of the rules were simple , we were to fight in a battle  field known as a War-zone simulator (that means it sims a recent battle zone with tons of rubble and debris.) and that we were to capture the enemies flag at all cost. We get to use weapons in this battle but we only get six shots, but we get a sword to use unlimitedly.  "Ok I'll take Tai on, " said Rei. "You bastards get out of the way." said Tai. The two clashed swords and sparks flew. The room soon fluctuated with light from the thrusters on the backs of all four candidates. About this time , Garu and Riuroute entered the  room. "About time." said Instructor. "Sorry we got lost." "I knew you two couldn't pass up something like this." "Well you have come to know us pretty well." "Yah old man." "Haven't changed a bit?" "So who do we have today?" "Well were breaking in the new candidates, their seniors are testing with them. Check here on the stats board. Recently this was number 88 and 87," "Hmmm.....these were from the last hoard of candidates." said Riuroute. "Yes and they worked their damn butts of and finally reached the top rankings." "That fast huh. They are good." said Garu. "That's not all, just look at their EX stats." "My gosh!!! Are they really that large???" "Yes now just watch their performance." "Hey I met this candidate in the hall earlier." said Riuroute. "huh" "Number 90 he's a newer candidate. I wonder how bad he'll do today. He does look scrawny and in experienced." "I wouldn't be to sure about that." said Instructor. "What do you mean??" "Well just watch and learn. If you guys had had this kinda competition back when you were candidates, you might not be a pilot today!"

                                                          "EEAUGH!!!!!!!" Zero lunged at Hiead with his fists, his knuckle made contact with Hieads chest knocking him off balance."Bastard! Hold still." "Hmph you have been training I see." said Hiead. "That's not all!!!" Soon it was all out war. The fight between the two teams raged on. "Eat this. Arc Driver!!!!!" Rei took his fist and thrusted both into Tai. Tai blocked with his arms. "Hah is that all you got??" "You aint seen nothing yet." Rei clicked his teeth and then Tai started to fight back. Dashing forwards and backwards dodging Tai's punches. Soon the hand to hand combat came to an end. "Let's finish what we started earlier." said Tai pulling out his sword. "Bring it on." Rei slashed his sword down then to the right. Elsewhere Zero and Hiead were in an armlock. "I will not lose to you........BASTARD!!!!!!" Zero pushed his hands up and jolted Hiead back to the edge of the battlefield. "HIEAD SIR!!!" said Ikhni. "Mind your  own business. I am.....fine.."said Hiead. Hiead re-gained control  and punched Zero in the face. "Dammit.......watch where you aim that thing!" "Hmph typical." Hiead jumped straight into the air. His legs came down hard on Zero as he was thrown to the ground." "Rei can you here me??" said Zero. "Yeah but I am.....a...little busy right now. What's up??" "Kizna's located the flag. Can you get it.?? I'll keep Hiead on his toes here." "Gotcha chief." "Hmmm....I see that your Jr. isn't as stupid as we all think." "Bloody bastard, you shut up!!!! AAAAUUUUGHHH!!!!!!!!!" Zero thrusted his hand as Hiead who was currently pinned against the wall. "I am sick....of you cockiness!!!! EAT THIS!!!!!!" "What the......." Hiead was cut short of his words as the fist of Zero struck him, a dazed Hiead stumbled around for a while until he finally fell over." "Hieads down I am coming to your sector.

                                  "Can you handle this REI!!" "Common, we haven't even gotten started. "Go ahead and make my day." Rei and Tai were in a battle of swords, soon the sound of clashing of swords filled the room. Rei kept up pace and attacked as hard as he could, the blood from his hands started to run a little because of all the strain.  Soon he was sick of it.  "HERE !!! Taste the ground." Rei suddenly jumped then turned his sword down wards, he then slammed the ground."Hah you missed!.....What the......." Tai had failed to realize the impact wave that had formed seconds after his sword hit the ground. "These are the words of a fool, 'I have won' when the battle still rages on!" said Rei. Tai spit to the side and then replied, "Hah that was only a fraction of my power." Tai tapped his foot on the ground. Then he quickly took off jumping straight into the air. "A wise proverb once stated the weak should not fight, this keeps the honor of a battle and for the victor!!!!" Tai turned downwards then shove his fist straight a Rei. Rei dodged to the side, "Another saying : Honor is not fitting for a fool! Proverbs 26:1" Rei turned to the side and then drove his sword into Tai's vessels right arm. "AAUUGHHH!!!!!" Tai fell to the ground as Rei stood over him." "You find proverbs like that in such an old book??" "Even the oldest on books and people can contain wise sayings."

                          Hiead arose to find Zero running towards Rei " Zero!!!" Hiead threw his whole body at Zero. "What the ......" Zero was interrupted by Hiead who had wrestled him to the ground. Hiead sat head up then began to punch Zero unmercifully. "Get.....oof!!!.....off.....me......" "That's it Zero just try to get up. You have no chance. Unless....." "NO!!! I won't use it!!" said Zero. "Then here..................is my farewell!!!!!!!!" Hiead struck Zero's head into the ground. Zero turned his head sideways then laid fainted on the ground . " "Now all I have to do is get to the flag." said Hiead. "Zero you lazy bum!!! GET UP!!!!!!!!!!!" Kizna yelled at the top of her lungs into the radio." "Uh....I am up!!" said Zero as he took off after Hiead."

                                                  Else where, Rei and Tai were beating the hell out of each other with Rei trying to wrestle for the flag. Rei would get up and Tai would knock him down. Tai would get the advantage and Rei would take back the lead. Rei:I have no advantage whatsoever. He is as equal as that crappy nutra sweet in those little packets!! "Ok last technique. Watch close before you get knocked out by it!!!!" Rei raised up his broken blade. He then stepped slowly to the side and then did so again for six more times. "Augh!! This is driving me insane!" said Tai as his gun was loading. "Fire now!!!" Tai fired several shots, but were blocked by Rei's sword. " Dragon Raid!!!!!" Rei pulled his sword back to  where the hand was in his left hand and behind his back. Then struck forward at Tai with a large blow to the chest. "Hah that didn't scratch me!" said Tai. Tai fired his last shot and then struck the tattered sword downwards with the flat side of the sword hitting Tai on the head. Rei dropped the sword and drew his gun on his dazed opponent. "Exits from this battle are located here.........and through this bullet!!!!!" Rei fired a single shot at Tai's back energy pack. It exploded into a million pieces as Tai's Pro-Ing hit the ground." "That is true power............"

                                          While this was going on elsewhere Zero and Hiead were at the end of their ropes trying to stop each other from getting what they wanted. Hiead wanted Zero's flag and Zero wanted to hurry up and go eat. "Ok , I see that we have no choice. Time for a draw." Hiead got his hand in position. "Draw?! I can't...." Hiead shot at Zero and tore open the paneling on Zero's arm. "Zero don't get too close he is a good shot. But that training you took at the firing range should help you have even higher accuracy so this battle is over with." said Kizna. "Um you remember when I said I took that class." "Yah....." "I kinda skipped." "YOU WHAT!????!!!!??? " "I am going to try though. Zero crouched  down behind the small boulder he was hiding behind. "Maybe I'll get lucky. Here I go!" Zero stood up checked his bearings and then...................BANG!!!!!!" The sound of their guns fired, Zero stared at his opponent and then fell to the ground. "Zero noooooo!!!"  "Hmph, now to collect my prize." Hiead walked slowly towards the flag and lifted his hand to grab it. "LIKE HELLLLLL!!!!!!!" Zero had gotten up. He took a large pipe that was laying on the ground, and then drove it into Hieads back energy unit. "Zer...oooooooo." "Hey did you beat him over there yet Rei?" "Just got done, may I??" "Go ahead and take that flag." Zero walked towards the exit of the arena with the sound of a buzzer in the background. "Hitpoints 23445445662, Damage taken 66345 team 01 the victors."

                                     Zero walked out of his badly damaged Pro-Ing with a partial smile on his face. Rei did the same as he picked up Tai and took him into the Pro-Ing battle deck. "There you go, Amano, he's badly beaten up, you may want to take him to the medic's place after this session is over." said Rei. "Zero you look terrible." said Kizna. "I've felt better. " said Zero. He stumbled his way to the command desk then panted. "Zero maybe you should set down for a while." "I am fine just make sure that you don't slap me for the next couple of days." "I do say I am very impressed." said Garu. "Hmm not too bad." "Cut the crap Gar', they could have kicked your butt if they went up against you when you were a candidate. " said RiuRoute. "Ok, you guys better head to the hall for the ceremonies that will be held today.  Zero and Rei go take a rest but be ready for the ceremony. Don't be late." said Azuma as he walked out the door. "  Hiead then walked in. "Hmph...let's go." "But Hiead sir..." "I don't want your sympathy." said Hiead as he exited the door. "Augh! He pisses me off." said Zero. "Hey zero did you lose yet??" said Yamagi who came into the room. Yamagi patted him on the back as Zero fell to his knees. "I would....appreciate it if you wouldn't do that." "Sure thing." said yamagi. "I am outta here. " said Rei. "Common Zero let's go see those cute nurs.....er' I mean get cleaned up!" "Yah what he said." said Zero. Rei: I will never understand people, their anger and hatred push them so much. But I am learning, there is a possible in impossible.

                           "Company Salute!" Azuma then walked to the chair that was on the wall. "That was long." said Rie to Kluze. "Hey Rei." "Hi yah Zero." "Man that was the longest ceremony that I have ever been too." "I guess we can get out of these suits and go to the relaxation room. I have the rest of the day off." "Yah me to, you wanna come Kluze??" "Can't I have classes today and I am going to the Pro-Ing studies room with Kari and we're going to see if we can get those pistons on the Pro-Ing upgraded. " "Well I'll see ya later tonight then. " "Yah. Catcha later." Kluze walked off into the large crowd of candidates. "Keiko, you coming?" yah sure, surprisingly your Pro-Ing didn't sustain to much damage." "Zero Enna!!" "Oh Kizna we were......" "You get to help me fix you Pro-Ing this is the second time this week that we have had damage this bad." "But...." "NOW!!!!!" yelled Kizna." You can't resist her no matter what you do," Zero  walked off with Kizna. "Let's go to the GOA library instead," said Rei. "Didn't think you were the type to read. " "No I am not usually but I think I'll go and figure out how we can up our vessel as well.

                                       **********************************************************

                                     Zero: This place is darkened by war, the humanity that was once a peaceful place and life went on, has been destroyed, even if we  can take out Victim, humanity will never be the same. The large population of people who still survive are very weary and are holding on by only a string called GOA, we cannot fail, or that sting will snap sending everyone plunging to their doom. Life or death, Victim or sacrifice, the making of the death of humans and all creatures that live. I do think that we have a chance, but only if we can still grasp it. Those who suffer from this like Hiead, have been scarred by the coldness of war and have shut all those who try to help him, out. Though he has no emotion to them, his conscience lays somewhere inside him that wants to get out. But he can't help it. *Zero lies down to sleep* "Those things that we say ar major problems have finally met their match, as Victim has torn the whole universe from it's place and is dragging it down to hell. Hold on just a little longer and endure this for Victim will someday meet it's end.

                                      Rei: The humanity that puts their life on the line to keep itself alive has left themselves at the mercy of victim. The sorrows of battles that ensue, are based on anger and hate. I have finally experienced one kind of battle that pertains to this kind of thought. But as we go more and more losses have made the fight for Zion more painful than the Attacks of Victim  seem like small bites from a gnat. We have to long remember that before Zion there was Earth who met it's end at the first of the Victims jaws and left a huge scar on the face of humanity. The endless war to keep humanity from dying, and that is our fight.

                                      Teela: I see the large amount of energy that it will take to finally destroy Victim. It takes the one single shot from the heart to destroy evil and to live again as the people we once were. Zion is protected by us five, the five that have been able to destroy the spirit of Victim once before and can do it again, but the power needed has not arrived yet, Zion, sleep peacefully tonight, a remember soon, I will be able to become them as Victim is trampled on into oblivion.

                                                        END TRANSMISSION

NEXT TIME ON PILOT CANDIDATE: The hearts of many young men hold together the tattered and torn humanity that are slowly being devoured by the Victim. These have come together as a rope to bind the helpless and give hope to those who have none. When these are brought together, they create a force that can withstand the mightiest of attacks. Victim to wipe out, GOA to bring them back. But can they help it. Can they make their move before it is too late.
