Everlasting Dreams, Endless Possibilities

Satin: hey every1 I'm not sure what this chapter is about because I’m writing it as I go along!
Disclaimer: No, I do not own pilot candidate, unfortunately.
The twilight poured in the window as a soft breeze blew past Karissas face, rearranging the pieces of hair that sat on her flushed cheeks.
Roko slowly opened his eyes to see that Karissa had finally fallen asleep, away from the endless memories.
What is she dreaming about now? Roko asked himself, as he sat up, taking his face off the nightstand, which left a red mark down the side of it. He turned around to see that Saku and Kazina hadn’t woken him up, but had just gone to bed and left him there, sleeping in the chair beside Karissas bed.
At some point of time, he had drifted off, and had fallen asleep. He wasn’t quite sure what time it was, so he tiptoed across the room and slipped through the door, leaving the sleeping girls behind.
He rushed past Azuma’s office, ducking so his head wouldn’t be seen through the window. If Azuma sees me, he wont think that I was in the girls dorm just to watch after Karissa. Roko said to him self, practically crawling on the ground.
He finally reached his dorm when the door opened, and Semi, new candidate number 96, walked through with a flashlight and had almost stepped on Roko.
“What the hell do you think your doing?!” Semi said, looking down at Roko who was just standing up.
“Me? What about you?!” Roko argued back.
“Quiet your voice or Azuma will hear us. Anyways, I was looking for you!! Where have you been for…4 hours when all the candidates were ordered to their dorms for the night!! Its 3:00 in the morning you moron!” Semi said, glancing at his watch.
“Damn you Semi just mind your own business! I was just checking up on Karissa!” Roko argued back in a whisper.
“I only saw you go out of there once, which was at 11:45, so really, where have you been?” Semi said as a matter of fact.
“I told you, I went to get Dr. Croford, but then I went back in there!!”
Semi looked at Roko with disbelief, but then finally agreed as the two boys walked into there dorms to lay down and get some rest.
Semi is 17 too like Roko, but was not a top candidate. He was a grade 4 candidate, and always worried about others. He was sort of like the big brother of the new candidates. He was always watching out for them, and telling them what to do and what not to do. Him and Roko are the oldest candidates in the new bunch. There’s, Kouri, number 97 at age 15, Mesi, Semi’s brother, number 93 at age 16, and then there’s Clife, number 94 at age 16. Most of them are grade 2-4, not including Roko, which is the only top candidate.
The lights in Karissas dorm flashed, and then came on steadily. It was obviously time to get up and go to your training session. Karissa hadn’t forgotten what had happened yesterday, and new she would either run into Roko or Dr. Croford as she walked out the door and then they would question her and ask her what she had been mumbling the other day.
Karissa turned and walked out the door, only to find out her guesses were right. She did run into Dr. Croford.
“ Karissa, may I have a moment with you?” Dr. Croford said soothingly.
“No.” Karissa said brushing past her in the direction of her class.
“ Karissa, stop. Let me talk to you. I have-“ Dr. Croford tried again.
“ I don’t care what you have to say. I'm not interested.” Karissa said, cutting her off.
“ You may not train today” Dr Croford blurted out.
Karissa stopped in her tracks. Not train? She hadn’t trained in 2 days, of course she was going to train today! She spun around to face Dr. Croford with a penetrating glare.
“What do you mean, not train?” Karissa said, gritting her teeth. Dr. Croford had already made things miserable by asking her questions and testing her everyday and now she was telling her not to train?
“Yes, that’s exactly what I said,” Dr. Croford said, flipping her hair to her other shoulder. “We found out what happened in the cafeteria,” She said firmly. Karissa new she didn’t have to stand there and let Dr. Croford ramble on about that subject. She new she was way faster than Dr. Croford. She also new that Dr. Croford knew that too.
“ We know that some one was in your head. But what we don’t know is why, or who. It is way to dangerous to let you get into your Ingrid and train. It could happen again, Karissa” She spoke slowly and calmly, keeping an eye on Karissa.
Karissa flinched at the words. Then she spoke, “Did you know the pain I was feeling?” she said sarcastically, and spun around back to her class. She didn’t care how they found out, or if what Dr. Croford meant by “its too dangerous”.
“ Also,” Dr. Croford began again, not bothering to answer the question, “We don’t know what you were mumbling about yesterday. Kariss-“
“And your not going to find out either!” Karissa blurted out now shaking with anger. “All you care about is testing me and my powers, all you care about is for me not to blow up GOA! That’s all you care about! Not once have you asked me, ‘Why did you come up here to be a goddess pilot? What colony did you live on? Or did you live on Zion?’ And do you know what you also didn’t ask me? ‘What happened to your parents?’” Karissa screamed as a tear trickled down one side of her dry, pale face.
Dr. Croford was shocked. She had never seen Karissa so emotional before.
Then she realized it… “I didn’t-I didn’t ever ask you that? Well I'm asking it now, will you tell me what happened to your parents?” She said, speaking softly, and walking towards Karissa at a quick pace. She reached down her pocket for the tranquilizer. She new she would have to use it someday on Karissa to keep her from having an EX reaction.
Karissa new she was coming to her too. Not but 2 seconds after Dr. Croford was a step away from Karissa did Karissa engage into her EX state.
“LEAVE ME ALONE! IM ONLY FIFTEEN, DAMMIT” Karissa screamed, devastated. She spun around quickly and knocked the shot out of Dr. Crofords hands. That’s when Dr. Croford saw her face. It was blood red, and streaked with tears. Her hair was glowing with and eerie blue. Soon enough, she began to levitate in the air, her body sagging above the ground. Dr. Croford backed away, still staring at Karissa. She scrambled over to the tranquilizer, grabbing it with trembling hands. Karissa new that Dr. Croford wasn’t screaming for help because what she had been doing to Karissa could have got her thrown out to Zion.
Dr. Croford fumbled with the shot until it was just ready when some how, it broke into two halves! She looked up only to see Karissa standing there.
“You-you did that? But how? You never got close enough! ”Dr. Croford screamed. “It was too fast,” she kept on mumbling to herself. “A human is not physically able to do such a thing! So this… this is part of Karissas power!” Dr. Croford said. “I don’t believe it!” She mumbled on and then looked up to face Karissa, over the state of being shocked, Dr. Croford stood up firmly. She reached out for Karissa, but Karissa was too fast. Suddenly, the floor of GOA began to shake.
“What the hell!” Dr. Croford screamed, but there was no one around to hear her. She had picked a spot to talk to Karissa on the bottom floor of GOA, where no one goes, so they couldn’t hear Karissa if she screamed, but now, no one could hear Dr. Croford herself. The walls had just started cracking when it all, suddenly stopped. Everything did. Dr. Croford stopped screaming, the floor stopped shifting, the walls stopped cracking…and Karissa, she stopped… her face, like someone had jabbed a knife into her stomach, was shocked… her eyes big, her mouth partly open as if she was getting ready to say something…her hair, back to silver…her body, stopped glowing…even her breathe stopped…then… a sound…a tear…a tear dropped to the ground…Karissa collapsed. She was no longer floating in the air, but on the ground, standing up…frozen…she began to slowly walk backwards … backwards….into the dimly lit hallway and soon faded out of Dr. Crofords sight…and everyone else’s…as the sound of her footsteps faded… so did the figure standing in Karissas mind…“mom?!…” she whispered, and then, vanished from sight.
