Changes Changes

It happened one morning at breakfast we saw her as usual reading a book, but the she pulled out a worn picture of someone and it was the first time we saw her smile and for that second she turned into the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. Her name is Serenity.

                Let me tell you from the beginning. You see we are all candidates to be pilots of the ingreds, and we each have a mechanic (females are partners and males are pilots, usually). And Mellany, Yogen’s mechanic couldn’t continue being a mechanic for some reason and went back to her colony home. Well she had to be replaced so the commander found someone already trained to do the job. This girl, Serenity, is the commander’s daughter, but for some reason she has been very sad, and sick since she came here. She talks very little and reads a lot.

                Yogen, who is very handsome, is used to every girl pretty or not to like him, is very mad that she does not act like the other girls and become very embarrassed when he speaks to her. But she is really good at maintaining the robots and guiding him, she had been trained to do this some, because she has been here less then the other girls but can do a better job then them. Probably has something to do with the commander. She isn’t just Yogen’s mechanic she is also a pilot but she has already been trained to control a goddess and is to be the pilot of the head goddess. 

                So back to where we were, so she turns into this beautiful creature well it was only for a few seconds. So as we were all done eating we rushed to the commander and told him what happen, he didn’t seem surprised at all. When we asked him why it happened he told us her mother had been an angle (a creature that is so beautiful that they can’t be human, but there is a price when they are very sad they lose their beauty until their happiness returns). So why is she so upset? Well you see I had arranged her marriage with the son of my best friend, they didn’t know, but that didn’t matter they fell in love with out our help. But one day Serenity had a flight test; I bet you don’t know she is going to be the next lead pilot for the fighter goddesses, well you see on the day of her test she left late in the afternoon and when she came back she would never be the same again because when she was gone her whole life died. Darren, that was his name her boyfriend that is had being trying out a new gun, his training robot and when it backfired, he didn’t make it! And if she did smile at that picture it was a picture most likely of Darren.

                Well after that we all tried to be nicer to her. She started to talk and hang around more with us to. And then from that time on she started to become happier little by little you could tell because she became less plain. Then one day the commander called us, all except Serenity, to the meeting room. He told us that his daughter is almost as beautiful as she was before Darren died. All us guys were astounded when he said this, because she was already more beautiful then any girl they had ever seen. Well one day while we were one by one having our reflex tests Yogen and Serenity were just sitting around when he all of the sudden asked if he could ask her a question, she said if he wanted to he can. I know this is kind of a personal, but I have got to know what does Darren have that I don’t have? Well your right about one thing it is personal, but I’ll tell you any way because you asked nicely. I grew up with him and I didn’t know that I loved him until he got his first girlfriend. I started to be shyer around him, and he like anyone else he noticed, and one day he asked me why I was acting so strange, that’s when I told him and to my surprise he told me he had felt the same way about me for a long time. Then She took out a picture of her and Darren holding hands they both were so happy looking. Then he couldn’t hold it in any longer he told her he thought she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, but Serenity didn’t say a thing except that he had made a mistake and then ran to her living quarters.      

It had been two days since Yogen and Serenity’s conversation and they acted like it never happened, but the way Yogen acted was so strange every time he was around her and he didn’t act alike he

was all that. Then one day Zero, another candidate and Yogen’s best friend, asked him what was wrong Yogen said it was nothing, but Zero kept on asking then he finally told him how he had told Serenity how he felt about her and how hurt she had been. When he was done he asked him what he should do and Zero quote said, “Don’t know much about love but I do know you should ask her what was wrong and if she could forgive you for being so fresh with her so please do what you know is right.” So during the next practice he told he was so sorry for hitting on her after all she had been through. She said no it wasn’t it was because of her beauty that he fell for her. Like many of those before him had.

So from then on they became friends, but now they had another even harder task because their quarterfinals were coming up in two weeks. They would decide if they have been improving or need more training and that they are keeping up in their lessons on skills, and strategies if not they are in hot water. But none of them had it as hard as Serenity she had to take both tests to become the pilot and mechanic of the lead Goddess (Mellany will return and become Yogen’s mechanic). So they had spent that entire time reviewing, it was time for them to take their finals. They were to report to the main classroom for their finals at noon exact or find themselves in hot water.

Well when they arrived they saw that there were chairs along the back wall of the classroom and that there was a long screen that separated the classroom in half. As soon as they sat down their commander came in and told them they would be tested separately so they cold talk, but not to loudly. First all the girls will come in the order that I call their names so be listening for your names. First up is Serenity, so come on we don’t have along time to do this and you have to do 2 tests unlike the other.  It took about 45min. for Serenity to take both of her tests and one by one they all finished and after they all went to the observation room and looked at the earth while they talked about things then after an hour they all headed off to their bedrooms. Tomorrow  they would know if they all passed or not.
