Chapter Seven: Hello Big Brother
Tak waited patiently in the Observatory. He could feel Ikhny’s presence approaching at a fast rate, and he knew there would be a small confrontation. But that didn’t phase him in the least.
Why would it, when he was the one who made her this way?
WHAM! The door to the Observatory flew open, and Ikhny walked in, her face full
of anger and uncontrolled fury. Tak however, greeted her in a calm manner.
"Hello, Miss Ikhny. And how are you today?"
Ikhny didn’t answer. Her powers were still out of control, and it overwhelmed
her every move. Tak smirked and walked over to Ikhny. She snarled and tried to
lunge at him, but he caught her in midair and restrained her with the greatest
of ease. With her arms pinned behind her, Ikhny yelled wildly and began to
struggle against him, giving Tak some difficulty in keeping her restrained. He
quickly leaned toward Ikhny and whispered one word into her ear.
"Chaos."
The effect was almost immediate. Ikhny stopped struggling, and she relaxed in his arms. Her heavy breathing told him that she was now under control. After a few minutes, Ikhny pulled out of his grip and glared at him.
"What happened in there?" She asked in a would-be-calm-voice, but her face still showed signs of anger. "One minute I’m in a test simulation, and the next I’m waking up in the infirmary, feeling like hell. What happened? What did you do?"
"I didn’t do anything except my responsibility as your repairer," Tak replied smoothly, and smiled. "But I still don’t know why you fainted. Maybe Force was right. Maybe you’re not ready for this."
For a moment, Ikhny stared at him. Then she punched him right in the face, using all the strength she had. Tak staggered slightly.
"How dare you," Ikhny hissed as Tak regained his stamina. "You were my biggest supporter. I trusted you as my friend, and you dare forsake me now?!" The red glow returned, and the glow was stronger this time. "You bastard. I should have know you were just like them!" The glow was so strong that Tak had to back away. Objects around them were now starting to shake and tremble, and some began to levitate in the air. But surprisingly, he began to laugh.
"Well done, Ikhny!" Tak yelled happily. "I knew you could do it!
I just knew it! You are absolute perfection."
"Flattery won’t get you anywhere," Ikhny spat, and Tak laughed again.
"No Ikhny, you misjudge me. I had to bait you, because I wanted you to gain
full control of your powers. That’s why you fainted last time, you see."
Ikhny didn’t answer again, but Tak could see that some of his words were
taking effect, because the red glow faded and the room had stopped shaking.
"I’m sorry if I had hurt you in any way, of course," Tak added
hastily. "I just-"
"Shut up." Ikhny snapped. The angry look on her face slowly changed to
a tired and frustrated one. "Just…just shut up. I…I’m tired. I want
to go to my room."
Tak bowed his head, but he hid a smile as he did. "Forgive me. I didn’t
think. Allow me to walk you to your room."

Hiead lay down on his bed as he stared mindlessly at the ceiling. After his little spat with Miss Big Mouth, he had debated with himself whether to see Allecto or not. In fact, he was still debating with himself. His mind was telling him to forget it, but something was telling him to go see her, at least for a minute.
Come one, Gner…go see her…she was your partner…
She abandoned you, kid. She doesn’t even deserve to lick the soles of your shoes.
She is the only one who cared about your well being….
She chose some punk over you!
You miss her…
She should miss you!
You love her.
Hiead jerked out of his trance. Where had that come from? He was hanging
around Reina too much…she was putting these atrocious ideas into his head.
"I don’t need her," he said out loud. But the little voice was still there, whispering those horrendous words over and over.
You love her…you love her…you love her…
"Get out of my head!" Hiead yelled, and he started banging his head against the wall. "Damn it, get out, get out, get out!"
"Hiead?"
Hiead stopped banging his head and turned to meet the astonished faces of Zero and Clay. Clay seemed to be speechless, but Zero’s surprised look turned to one of pure amusement.
"I told you he would go nuts sooner or later!" Zero said to Clay. "I told you! First it was Ikhny and now him! Do you think Kizna will be next?"
Hiead was about to make a snide remark, but when Ikhny was mentioned, he momentarily forgot his insult. He cleared his throat and tried to sound as cold as possible. "Allecto? What happened to her?"
"You mean you don’t know?" asked Clay, who had just recovered from his shock. "I can’t believe you don’t know!"
Hiead gave Clay a vicious stare, and Clay cowered slightly.
"O-of course, some candidates still don’t know, so it’s not as if-"
"Will you just get on with it?!" Hiead yelled angrily.
"After Ikhny left the infirmary, she punched Kizna right in the face!"
Clay said all this in a very high pitched voice. "Now if you’ll excuse
me, I have to go…somewhere."
Hiead watched Clay run out with a look of total disbelief on his face. "Is this your idea a joke?" he asked Zero, who shook his head.
"Every word is true. Ikhny freaked out in the hallway and she socked Kizna.
I’ll show you if you want proof!"
"I don’t need you to show me anything," Hiead sneered. He pushed
past Zero and headed for the girls’ dormitory.

Reina watched Ikhny and Tak from a safe distance. There was no doubt in her mind that Ikhny was the intended target, but the question as to who would be the attacker was still unanswered. At first, she thought it was Hiead Gner. From her information on him, he seemed like a smart-ass jerk that seemed to hate the sight of his partner. But after being with him, she realized he was a smart-ass jerk, but he didn’t really hate his partner. He just had some serious issues to work out. That left one suspect, but she didn’t want to believe it…
Ikhny was now in her room, and Tak was heading back to the Observatory. This was
her chance, and she wasn’t going to blow it now…
Reina ran up to Tak and greeted him cheerfully. "How ya doing-"
"Cut the theatrics Reiko," Tak said coldly. "You’re not fooling
anyone anymore, little sister."
