YuYu Hakusho (a.k.a Yuu Yuu Hakusho) is an exciting Shonen series that aired in Japan from October, 1992 until January, 1995. In that time, 112 episodes, 6 OVA's, and 2 movies were produced...not to mention the many volumes of Manga. The anime is full of action, martial arts, and demonic characters (What more could you want??). Even the English dub is excellent ... Justin Cook is amazing as the sarcastic, mouthy Yusuke.

The premise is based around fourteen-year-old Yusuke who, in a selfless act, saved the life of a small boy only to be killed in the process. When approached by the Spirit World (where people outside the Living World exist), Yusuke finds they weren't quite ready for his death. Even though he hasn't been a model human, they give him the opportunity to return to the living world as long as he assists them by becoming a spirit detective. When his life is returned, Yusuke finds he has special abilities that help him track down and destroy demon villains. Along the way, Yusuke teams up with several other allies and together they protect the Human and Spirit Worlds.

An episode of YuYu Hakusho is never boring. Most of the series centers around certain sagas....for example; The Saint Beasts saga or The Dark Tournament saga. The developers of this anime had hoped that it would have the same fan following as Dragonball, and they were right. It's not only the kick-butt fighting scenes that make YuYu popular....there is excellent character development as well. Although the violence can be pretty explicit, the show tries to enforce how good prevails over evil. My recommendation....don't miss a single episode ^_^!!
