SYNOPSIS The popular anime, Cowboy Bebop, graced Japanese T.V. screens from April, 1998 and aired sporadically until April, 1999. With it's breathtaking CG animation, stunning character designs, and outstanding soundtrack, it's a no wonder this series is rated one of the best year after year. In a recent survey by Newtype Magazine, Cowboy Bebop was 2nd overall in the Top 25 Anime Series of all time. This series takes us through the trials and tribulations of bounty hunters Spike Spiegel and Jet Black in the year 2071. They make their living capturing (for a price) those unsavory characters disrupting the intergalactic peace. The more hardened the criminal, the bigger the bounty. When you add in the sizzling Faye Valentine and the wacky but brilliant young Ed, you've got one entertaining episode after another. On a down side, due to the nature of some episodes (violence, harsh language, sexual innuendo), this series is geared towards a more adult audience (14+). In fact, some of the subject matter was so true to life that two episodes were actually cancelled during the horrific September 11th period. The episode "Waltz for Venus" dealt with an attempted airline high jacking, and the episode "Cowboy Funk" involved a serial bomber who blew up a building that looked very similar to the Twin Towers. Even though many of the episodes are serious and excessively violent, the humorous antics of the hunters can easily change the mood. If you want a mixture of laughs and butt-kicking action, then Cowboy Bebop is the series for you.
