The Land Where a Hero Once Lived

Summary written by me, Julie. Hope you like it!

This summary will be brief and to the point.

Continuing with the story arc, Sakura watches over the bridge while Tazuna loses another man due to the fear that Gato and his men have placed upon them. A short time later, Tazuna has Sakura accompany him during their lunch break to shop for food. She can't believe the terrible poverty the villagers must endure. The sight of all this has strengthened Sakura's resolve to help out.

Meanwhile both Naruto and Sasuke are training.  They’ve been told to climb trees using their chakra.  The competition between the two boys is fierce!

That evening, Sakura asks about the picture that hangs on the wall.  Part of it has been ripped out. Tazuna explained that the man torn from the picture was Kaiza. He saved Inari from bullies and became part of the family. He showed no fear and was considered a hero in the Land of Waves, as well as, a father-figure to Inari. He would tell the boy "If you care about something…protect it.  Protect it with both arms….Never give in!" Inari idolized the man.

When Gato and his men reared their ugly heads, Kaiza refused to bow to their tactics. His defiance against Gato resulted in severe beatings and subsequent execution.  Inari was both heartbroken and angry.  "You told me you'd protect me and this land," he sobbed. Since that day, Inari and the people of the village have lost their will.

After the story, Naruto stands up with confidence! "I'll prove that it's true. In this World, there are real heroes!" he declares.
