The One and Only One; the story behind the crossed swords

{Chapter One: No! Not them!}

 

The early morning fog started to fade away on the river in Kohona. Chiisude Yoritmoto, now 13 years old, wearing a blue crossed at the neck to make a “y” shape in white shirt with black shorts, sat on the red rails of the bridge. Her brother had sent her a letter saying if she didn't kill him in the upcoming year, he would kill her and then kill himself.

Chiisude is a secret chuunin, meaning she works by herself and the Hokage would mission her missions. But since the incident at the last Chuunin Exams, Chiisude felt a grieving inside her again. For the record, the Hokage's funeral would be the seventh funeral in her entire life.

A high messenger bird came swooping down from the sky and on to Chiisude's shoulder. It was her messenger bird that she got from her cousin before she was killed by Silver. Chiisude had named it Rai, meaning trust. Rai was carrying a scroll attached to its little bag where Chiisude would open. She opened it and read the contents. It said that they have found people to serve as her teammates to attack Silver and possibly kill him.

“That's great...” Chiisude said turning to Rai. Rai was cleaning itself with its beak as it flapped on top of Chiisude's head.“That's not normal,”

Rai never jumped on top of Chiisude's head unless another messenger bird belonging to another Yoritmoto was coming near. Chiisude looked up to find a black crow named Dai, who she knew belonged to Silver.

Dai flew and tried to push Rai off. Chiisude grabbed Dai. There was a message on Dai again, she took that off and let go of Dai. Rai was in Chiisude's lap as Dai cawed away.

“I bet Silver-kun has trained Dai to attack Rai again,” Chiisude said looking up and watching Dai. Something appeared behind Chiisude and did not scare her.

“Chiisude-chan, what is it?”

“You ANBU people are the best they could do? Ha, anyways, do you have the cage?” Chiisude asked turning her head. Two members of the ANBU Black Ops were standing behind her as she turned around and perched Rai on her shoulder.

“Yes we do, did Dai come back?” one asked.          

“As normal, they did,” Chiisude sighed as she put Rai in its cage. Rai was chirping once it got into the cage. She grabbed the cage and told the ANBU members that she was going to the government building. After doing that, Chiisude, as quick as light, dashed away.

 

Chiisude opened the door to the Hokage's office, Shizune and Tsunade were inside along with another team of ninjas, but it was the one that Chiisude would not want to pick.

“WHAT?! YOU GUYS?!” Chiisude snapped pointing. Rai cawed as Chiisude placed the cage down. There stood Kakashi Hatke, Naruto Uzamaki, Sakura Haruno and to make it even better, Sasuke Uchiha, who Chiisude hated since the Academy days.

“Well, well, if it isn't The One and Only One, what a surprise.” Kakashi said as Chiisude placed her flat face look.

“I see you know each other,” Tsunade said.

Chiisude sighed and looked at Tsunade. “I guess if Third was here, I guess he would pick you bushels of idiots,”

Naruto cheered. “Another mission!!”

Chiisude rolled her head around and started to get mad at Tsunade's selection of teams.

“Alright, genin! This is what you'll need for this A to S ranked mission!” Chiisude snapped. “We might come back, we may not, this is extremely dangerous. Pack a months supply of food and anything that is needed to be used against the many traps on the way.”

The team agreed and soon left after they were dismissed. Sakura Haruno was walking by Chiisude when she grabbed her arm.

“Ch-Chiisude, hey.” Sakura said with a sweet smile.

Chiisude and Sakura went outside away from the government building. “Its been a long time, Sakura,” Chiisude said sitting down as she got tea for Sakura.

“Hey, I took care of Rai for you, don't I get rewards?” Sakura said looking at the cage that Chiisude still had.

“Wow, you still remember...” Chiisude said flatly.

“Anyways, how's it been?” Sakura asked. Chiisude looked up at the trees shading the two best friends on the bench.

“It's been ok, you mean my missions, right?” Chiisude asked looking back at Sakura.

“Yeah, I heard that you were there at the Chuunin exams.” Sakura said as Chiisude gave a stressful sigh and flat face. “Mainly watching Sasuke and trying to get into battles with the sound ninjas.”

“Sakura, who told you?”

“Uh...I don't remember anymore, I think it was Kakashi-sensei.”

Chiisude got up and got Rai's cage. She soon left without saying anything to Sakura.

“Wait, Chiisude! My mom wants to see you now that you are in the village,” Sakura said getting up. Chiisude walked back to Sakura and told her that it would be nice to visit her mom.

 

Sakura and Chiisude along with Rai's cage walked along the streets of Kohona as many people that Chiisude has known all of her life began to pop back into place. Its been a long time since I have seen this many working people, Chiisude thought. Last time I saw them, they were helping me.

The Yamanaka Flower Shop was coming near to where the two friends were walking. Chiisude went inside to find a flower for Rai's birdcage. Ino, who was not only Sakura's but Chiisude's rival since the whole 'I love Sasuke' debate, was standing behind the cash register.

“Wow, some things never change!” Ino said as Chiisude looked at her.

“Just shut up you dumb blond.” Chiisude scoffed as she looked for a flower.

“If you are going to buy another flower for that filthy messenger bird, then I suggest taking your business somewhere else.” Ino sneered.

“Wow, some things don't ever change, Ino you filthy pig.” Sakura said walking in. Rai began to chirp loudly at Ino as Chiisude looked at the assortment of flowers.

“Well at least I'm not an annoyance to some people,” Chiisude said to herself. Sakura chuckled a little bit.

“Sakura, you always go on Chiisude's side; have you ever noticed that?” Ino said. Chiisude began to mock Ino like she did when back in the academy. She picked a lily and showed Sakura. “Here Sakura, this is for your mom.” Chiisude smiled then snickered at Ino. Taking the brown money bag in her pocket, Chiisude paid for the flower. The two walked away as Rai kept on annoying Ino.

“Wow, Chiisude, the same as ever, changing the subject!” Sakura said in amazement.

“I don't know why I keep on doing it, well at least I made Ino feel really bad about calling your mom a filthy messenger bird, but I know that Rai isn't a filthy messenger bird.” Chiisude said lifting the birdcage up to her eyes and petting Rai. “This flower is actually for Rai, Sakura, I just wanted to fool Ino.”

Sakura came to a stop when they had reached her house. She opened the door and called for her mom. She also told that Chiisude was finally back and was coming to visit.

“Aw, look at you, little Chiisude, now grown up to the Yoritmoto Clan's last hope.” Sakura's mom said walking in.

Chiisude glared at Sakura while she smiled. “The Last Hope? Sakura, you didn't...” Chiisude whispered.

“Its been a long time since I've seen you, three years now, right?”

“About...I'm sorry, but I have to go.” Chiisude said opening the door.

“Wha-What? Why Chiisude?” Sakura asked.

“Its something I forgot, my report on the Chuunin Exams. I was supposed to give it to the next Hokage, who is Tsunade-sama, as soon he or she was chosen.” Chiisude said leaving with Rai.

“Um...Ok then, I'll see you tomorrow.” Sakura said.

“At dawn, tell Naruto and the Uchiha idiot,” Chiisude said closing the door.

 

Chiisude dashed to Ichiraku Ramen, the place where she could always or at least at one point of time find Naruto sitting there eating a bowl of Ramen. And what are the chances of that? 9 out of 10 according to Chiisude's so called stats. And to make everything better, the blond 'demon' kid was there, the one and only, Naruto Uzamaki.

“Your special,” Chiisude said to the cook sitting down a few chairs away from Naruto. He was slurping quickly his ramen as she saw a stack of about 3 bowls next to him. Yep, that's Naruto. Naruto looked up and saw Chiisude and Rai in its birdcage under Chiisude's feet.

“Chiisude Yoritmoto, uh...hey what's up?” Naruto said nervously.

“Here you go, madam.” the cook said putting Chiisude's bowl of ramen in front of her.

“Ugh, just do what you do best and don't call me madam.” Chiisude said flatly, getting her chop sticks. “I accept,”

“Anyways, what is this mission about that you picked us to do?” Naruto said looking at Chiisude who was eating some of her ramen. She dropped one of her chop sticks on the floor and into Rai's cage.

“You mean...Tsunade-sama didn't tell you?!” Chiisude exclaimed.

“You mean Granny Tsunade? No, she didn't. All she said was that it was with you and it was ranked A to S.”

          Well, it did reach the Third before he died, I can kind of understand why Tsunade-sama didn't tell the details of the mission. The document stating the mission details must be lost, or the other copy must have been lost, the copy of the details.

 “That's it?” Chiisude said astonished. “I'm sure that it was with the Third before he died, I had two copies of the mission details, oh well, I might as well tell the Uchiha Idiot and Cherry Blossoms where we are headed later,”

“Chiisude, I know you don't like the Rookie Nine all that much, but did you nickname everyone?” Naruto asked looking into his ramen as Chiisude ate some more of hers.

“Mostly. I couldn't get anything out of Shikamaru that sounded as interesting as the Uchiha Idiot, being Sasuke and Cherry Blossoms being Sakura. Nor Hinata, besides the Sunny Place Girl, which is the meaning of her name, but others are from what their name means and what they are most memorable for. And since Team Gai....”

“Wait...Team Gai, you mean bushy brows's team?” Naruto asked. “You know them?”

          “They are 2 or 1 years older than us, Naruto. And you do know that I graduated 2 years before you guys did. But, yes I do. Neji really has me wondering...and yes, I am still upset about you beating up Neji, but he's way off on his 'your destiny is chosen when you are born' theory.” Chiisude said mockingly at Neji's theory. Naruto looked back at his bowl of ramen after looking at Chiisude.
