Arata is lost and late for class. He ends up on the roof where a mysterious young man gives him directions. Instructor Saruta is not happy that his student is late and scolds both Arata and Haruki.
During their mission briefing, the students learn that their goal is to destroy the five pillars which support the Wall of Gigant, however, a very strong oponent will be protecting that area. The LBX is known as the Violet Devil, Gunther Yzelphar. Platoon Leader, Haruki, is apprehensive especially since Arata and Hikaru continue to disobey his orders.
Unfortunately, the mission failed, but Arata did manage to damage the Violet Devil. As they leave for their dorms, Houjou Muraku waits for Arata. To Arata's surprise the boy is not only the one from the roof earlier that day but also, the owner of the Violet Devil. Houjou tells Arata that he is the first one to do damage to his LBX.
