After the defeat of Nils, Van and Justin go head to head.
Van wins the Artemus Tournament, but before any celebration can begin Justin's LBX goes out of control and destroys Achilles! The lights go out, and a mysterious LBX enters the battle arena and takes the platinum capsule (a.k.a. mettunas GX in the Japanese version).
When he hears that guards at the tournament were killed, Commander Devin confronts Cillian Kaido knowing he is behind this. "You've changed! You have no regard for human life," Devin shouts. Cillian dismisses him saying the NDR no longer needs his services.
The drive home is a silent one for Van, Amy, and Kaz. I'm sorry, dad...Van thinks sadly.
