Inuyasha: Destiny Revealed
By: Guardian Angel
Chapter Two
Sango took her seat in the office as she had Teacher’s Aid next. She sighed as she looked over the papers she would have to file for some teachers. She then looked over the list of what teacher’s classes she would have to help out with. She heard the door open behind her, but paid no heed to it. That is, until she heard a rather cheerful voice.
“Hey, Sango! I guess we’re in the same class, huh?” the voice said.
Sango looked over her shoulder to see a happy Kagome. Her eyes widened in surprise and she quickly spun around to face the fifteen year old. “Kagome, what are you doing here?”
“I have Teacher’s Aid. Don’t tell me you don’t have it,” Kagome said as disappointment made its way across her features.
“No! No. That’s not it. I was just surprised that you had this class since it’s only offered to those who are in their junior or senior year,” Sango said trying to reassure Kagome.
Kagome smiled. “Okay. Great! So, what first?”
Sango smiled as she began explaining everything to Kagome.
Inuyasha, Miroku, and Kikyo (who now had an icepack that was covering her bruise she had gotten from Sango) entered the science building. The three had Teacher’s Aid and their first stop was the science building, as they had to file papers for the class. The two boys and girl said hi to the teacher then went into the backroom to take care of the papers. One thing the three liked about the class was after all the hard work they had they got to choose a doughnut or soda if they wanted one and sometimes they could have both. Miroku also liked it because he got to be with the ladies. Inuyasha just liked the fact that Kikyo was in it with him. Kikyo liked it because it helped with her college transcript.
Sango and Kagome finally finished filing the papers and began going towards the math building where they would be helping ninth graders with whatever math problems they were struggling with.
Once Inuyasha, Kikyo, and Miroku got done with the papers and had eaten or drank whatever it was they decided to get, they began going to the math building where they would be helping ninth graders with math problems they might be having trouble with.
Sango and Kagome were almost to the building talking about boys and the only things they were interested in.
“All guys care about are cars, sports, and girls,” Kagome said. “That’s why my mother took me to an all girl private school. In fact, it was none other than The Shikon Academy.”
Sango looked at Kagome through wide eyes. “Shikon? Did you just say Shikon?”
“Yeah. Why?” Kagome asked.
Sango shook her head. “Nothing. Just thinking about something.” I have to tell this to Miroku. This is getting too freaky.
Inuyasha, Kikyo, and Miroku turned a corner almost near the math building. The two boys were talking about girls and what they only cared about and Kikyo was following them not interested in what was going on.
“All girls care about is boys, boys, and boys,” Inuyasha said.
“And if they’re little girls, it’s boys, Barbies, and boys,” Miroku said.
Inuyasha nodded. He was about to say something when he narrowed his eyes and let out a growl. Standing before him, were Sango and Kagome. He glared at Kagome. “You!”
Kagome looked up at Inuyasha confused then realized who he was and pointed a finger at him as she glared at him. “You!”
“What are you doing here?!” the two teens chorused.
The two then said, “I’m in Teacher’s Aid.”
“What?! You can’t be in teacher’s aid!”
“You’re just a freshman,” Inuyasha said.
“And you’re so immature,” Kagome said.
“And if we don’t enter that classroom that is behind you two, we’re going to be late,” Miroku said.
“Inuyasha, just leave her alone and let’s go,” Kikyo said putting a hand on Inuyasha’s arm.
Sango grabbed the sleeve of Kagome’s shirt and tugged at it. “Come on, Kagome, we can do this later.”
Kagome shot Inuyasha one last glare then followed Sango into the classroom. Inuyasha slowly but reluctantly followed Kikyo and Miroku into the building.
Sango let out a sigh as she and Kagome left the classroom to go to their third period class. The whole time while they were helping out ninth graders, Inuyasha and Kagome kept shooting glares at one another and had been passing insulting notes to each other. Luckily, the teacher hadn’t caught either of them for Sango was sure that if they had been caught, all hell would break lose. She really didn’t want to be around when that happened. She and Miroku had actually had a conversation and Kikyo was being, well, Kikyo.
“So, what do you have next?” Sango asked.
“Umm, let me see. Oh! I have world history. How about you?” Kagome said.
Sango looked at her clearly surprised. She then smiled. “Same as you. It appears as though we have all the same classes with each other.”
“How cool is that?” Kagome asked smiling.
“Very,” Sango said and the two began walking towards their next class.
Once there, they had taken their seats. Kagome sat behind Sango and, as Kagome found out, Miroku sat beside her, which angered Sango and made Kagome confused as Sango had yet to explain Miroku’s ways. Kikyo sat in the very back with Hojo and Koga. Kagome was glad to see that Inuyasha wasn’t in that class and so looked down at her notes she had written from her previous school. She heard the door open followed by a grunt. She looked up to see a fuming Inuyasha who silently took his seat beside Sango.
“Nice to see you join us, Inuyasha,” the teacher said.
Kagome studied the teacher to see she had short black hair that only reached the middle of her back and was pulled back in the same fashion as Kikyo’s. The woman appeared to be in her late twenties or early thirties.
“Now, class, as you know we have a new student. Her name is Kagome Higurashi and she comes from the far reaches of our galaxy. From none other than the fabled planet Venus,” the teacher said.
Kagome frowned when the teacher said this. She knew that everyone who hadn’t had the proper education thought that Venus was a myth as many planets in the Milky Way had been either destroyed by Naraku or taken over. Venus and Earth were known as myths since they were the ones that been taken over the most then destroyed, however, true, the Earth had been destroyed, but Venus hadn’t. The humans, demons, and aliens who opposed Naraku fought him back to save their beloved planet and had done so successfully. But they had also lost many lives in that great battle. The heroine who had been the main reason for their victory was none other than Midoriko. She had fought Naraku and gave most grievous wounds causing him to retreat and regenerating for about a hundred years or so, but not at a cost. She had used up all her strength and so died. The planets that hadn’t been taken over and destroyed and even those that had been taken over, lived in peace for quite a while until the planets that had been taken over betrayed the ones that had yet to be taken over. The reason for this was Naraku had risen again and came back for revenge. He hadn’t sent his best to Venus in fear of Midoriko still being alive and he didn’t want to waste perfectly good demons on the mighty priestess. He soon found out she had died and sent his best to Venus, but soon regretted it as there had been another who had matched Midoriko’s strength and power. She was the priestess who had also gone to the same school as Kagome. The thirteen-year-old priestess had left Venus wanting to protect planets that were weaker and defenseless against Naraku and so left Venus and its people. It was then, when Kagome had found this out, that Kagome realized that the priestess had been a descendant of Midoriko. She also realized that Kaede had been the priestess’ older sister and had also left Venus having the same goal as her younger sister.
Kagome looked down at her notebook feeling a strange warmth flow through her body. And I, too, have left my home planet in order to help those in need. She looked out the window and let out a sigh. Will I ever return home?
Inuyasha looked towards Kagome his expression softening since the first time he had seen the girl. So, she came from Venus, huh? Must’ve been horrible for her. She must really miss it and wish she were there to defend it from Naraku. Venus is, after all, one of those planets Naraku has on his death list.
Venus?! Just like Kikyo and Lady Kaede?! Miroku thought his eyes wide in shock.
Just as I thought, Sango thought. She, Kikyo, and Lady Kaede are from Venus and went to Shikon Academy.
The teacher smiled and said, “We will be doing a project today and I have assigned each of you a partner.”
Inuyasha looked at Kikyo then at Miroku then Sango hoping it was one of those three. Miroku began hoping with all his might that he had Sango and if not her, Inuyasha and if not him, any other pretty girl except Kikyo. Sango hoped she got paired up with either Kagome or Inuyasha, but not Kikyo, Koga, Hojo, and, most definitely, not Miroku. Kagome hoped she ended up with anyone, but Inuyasha. Hojo and Koga both hoped to get Kagome. Shippo just hoped he wouldn’t end up with Koga, Hojo, or Kikyo.
“Sango…”
Miroku’s eyes filled with hope.
“With Miroku.”
“Yes!” Miroku said. “Score!”
Sango groaned. “Oh, no.”
“Kikyo…”
Koga and everyone crossed their fingers hoping they wouldn’t end up with her. Inuyasha looked towards Kikyo hoping he’d be the one to be her partner.
“With Koga.”
Inuyasha’s face filled with disappointment while Koga groaned and Kikyo shot Koga a glare.
“Shippo with…”
Inuyasha looked towards the fox demon. Even he would do fine just as long as he didn’t end up with Kagome. Shippo looked towards Inuyasha and Kagome desperately swearing he’d kill himself before becoming Hojo’s partner.
“Hojo.”
Shippo groaned and Hojo smiled.
Inuyasha and Kagome also let out groans knowing full well whom their partners were.
“Inuyasha with Kagome,” the teacher said then went on with the rest of the list.
“So, I guess we have to go the library,” Kagome said as she looked down at the list of what they could do their projects on.
“Yeah,” Inuyasha muttered.
“So, what are we going to do ours on?” Kagome asked.
“Hmm, how about the Feudal Era?” Inuyasha suggested.
“Sounds great to me,” Kagome said.
She and Inuyasha began walking down the halls towards the library.
“So, I guess you and Kikyo are together, huh?” Kagome asked looking down at her binder.
“Yeah,” Inuyasha said. He then looked towards Kagome his eyes softening again. “So, you’re from Venus?”
“Hmm?” Kagome looked up at him to see he was now looking down at the ground. “Yeah. I am.” She looked back down at the ground. “I sort of miss it. Back there, I was well known. Now I come here and I feel so left out. I… don’t fit in around here.”
Inuyasha looked towards her and sensed a sudden sadness within her. How he could sense it, he wasn’t sure, but he ignored it and said, “You’re just new right now. Eventually you’ll find the place where you fit in most and make the best of friends that you can trust to the end.”
Kagome looked up at him and smiled. “Thanks… Inuyasha.” She looked down at the ground as she felt herself begin to blush. She shook her head. Come on, Kagome. He’s a big jerk! He’s just trying to make you drop your guard so he can humiliate you when you least expect it.
Inuyasha then realized that he and Kagome were actually having a conversation where they didn’t argue with one another. He looked away. “I hope you don’t think this means that you and I are friends.”
“And I hope you still know you’re the biggest jerk ever,” Kagome said looking up at Inuyasha not feeling at all angry as she thought she should be. Instead, she smiled at the young whitehead boy.
Inuyasha looked down at her and grinned despite what he thought he should’ve done instead.
“We shall do ours on female clothing during the Feudal Era and what we thought they should’ve been like,” Miroku said.
Sango hit him upside
the head. “No way, you hentai.”
“I am so hurt,” Miroku said placing a hand
over his heart.
“Good. Because you should be,” Sango said. She then looked down the list. “We’ll do ours on the history of Japan and how Naraku came about.”
“Okay. We’ll do ours on candy and how it evolved through out the many eras,” Shippo said.
“Okay. Whatever you say,” Hojo said.
Inuyasha and Kagome entered the library, put their stuff where they would be sitting, and began looking around for whatever could help them learn more about the Feudal Era. Inuyasha went to one half of the building while Kagome went to the other half.
Kagome scanned the shelves for the books when she spotted something that she thought was quite interesting. She grabbed out the book to find it was made of leather and was rather old looking. She could still make out the title that was in faint gold letters, though. “The Legend of Inuyasha. Hmm, sounds interesting.” She put the book in her backpack not taking any notice that it had her partner’s name in it.
Inuyasha looked at the books getting very bored and frustrated at the same time. All the books simply stated the same exact thing, most of it having to do with the birth of Naraku.
Sango (who had finally arrived in the library after trying to and eventually persuading Miroku to do the project on how Naraku came about) scanned the bookshelves when she saw something that caught her eye. She grabbed out an old black leather book. The title was in big bold fainted silver letters. “The History of Demon Exterminators? Never knew such things existed. Oh, well. Looks interesting.” She stuffed the book into her backpack.
Miroku looked through the books wishing the library had Playboy magazines, as he was bored with the assignment Sango had talked him into doing. He sighed when he saw a book that caught his eye. He grabbed it out to see it was an old book made of some strange black hide. The title was in small faint copper letters. “The Book of the Houshi?” He blinked a couple minutes then shrugged. “Good enough for me.” He placed the book inside his backpack.
Kikyo looked through the books after much arguing with Koga on what they would be doing theirs on. They were stuck with weapons from the Feudal Era and how they benefit people back in those times. She sighed as she scanned the books when she saw one that stood out against the others. She took it off the shelf to see it looked brand new and was made of red leather. The title was in silver cursive letters. Kikyo raised an eyebrow. “The History of the Shikon no Tama? In other words, the history of the jewel of four souls? What kind of book is this?” She frowned, but put it in her backpack anyway.
Koga looked at the shelves trying to avoid Kikyo more than anything else. He let out a sigh when he saw she was nowhere in sight. He was about to leave the shelf when a very interesting book caught his eye. He took it off the shelf to see it was made of green shiny scaly material. He looked at the title to see the words were in small black cursive letters. “The Wolf Dynasty?” He shrugged. “Good enough for me.” He put the book inside his backpack.
Shippo looked at all the books after he made sure he had escaped Hojo. He let out a sigh when he saw the dense boy wasn’t around and went over to the bookshelf to search for anything to help with his project when a book caught his eye. He grabbed it to see it was made of old black leather. The title was in big bold copper cursive letters. “The Kitsune Family?” Shippo frowned and opened the book. He then found the book was quite interesting and forgot what he was supposed to really be doing and sat down on the ground cross-legged as he read the book.
Kagome continued looking through the books when she spotted another book that caught her attention. She pulled it out and felt a strange warmth spread through her body. The book looked brand new and was made of leather. The title was in small golden cursive letters. “The History of Kagome Higurashi?!” She looked at the book with wide eyes. “I-it’s got my name on it.”
“What are you blabbering about?” Inuyasha asked as he began going down the aisle of shelves she was at.
“N-nothing,” Kagome said quickly stuffing the book into her backpack.
Inuyasha gave her an inquiring look, but just shook his head. “Whatever.” He examined the shelf then said, “You know, I heard Kaede was from Venus.”
Kagome looked at him surprised. “Why, yes, Kaede was from Venus. She was one of the most highly praised priestesses of my planet. Many believed she was the reincarnation of the priestess who had gotten rid of Naraku so long ago. You know, Midoriko.”
Inuyasha nodded and said, “Well, I wouldn’t say she gets praised around here. She’s our history teacher.”
Kagome looked at him with wide eyes and stuttered, “L-Lady Kaede is our-our teacher?!”
Inuyasha nodded.
Kagome sighed and looked at the books. “Then that means that her younger sister must be here, too.”
“Yah. That would be Kikyo. It’s hard to believe they’re even related. They’re so different from each other,” Inuyasha said.
Kagome looked up at Inuyasha with disbelief in her eyes, but could not help but feel sudden pain at the mention of Kikyo’s name. “So, then Kikyo, your girlfriend, is the Kikyo from my school that I’ve always wished to meet in person.” She began having second thoughts about being like her favorite heroine.
Inuyasha nodded and hope she would reconsider about being exactly like Kikyo. He had heard what Kagome had said to Miroku and Sango while he had ran off to see what had happened to Kikyo.
~*Flashback*~
“Well, umm, let me see how to put this,” Kagome said as she looked down at the ground. “Well, you see, we have four levels of skills you must be taught. The First Level, or Freshman Level, is the level where you are taught all the basics that you learned throughout your life since the beginning of preschool. Once you have completed going through the refreshment, you start getting into the stuff you’d be learning in the Second Level, or Sophomore Level. The Sophomore Level is when you really start getting involved in how to control your priestess powers and how to go to the full limit of them. However, you don’t start using the full extent of your powers until you’re in the Third Level, or Junior Level. I really don’t know what we do in the Third Level yet as I’ve only recently started it.” She shifted her footing nervously. “Not that I’m saying that you two shouldn’t be in your Third Level, but many people older than me have yet to complete the second stage. I’m the youngest at my school to be in the Third Level. They said there was only one girl who had also been younger than everyone at the school and had gone to her junior year when she was thirteen. All I remember was that they said her name also started with a ‘k’ and she had left in her junior year. I believe she would’ve been in the seventh grade if we had gone with the traditional school way. I heard she was even going to your high school and had made many accomplishments. I also heard her older sister, Kaede, doesn’t even compare to her younger sister’s records. I… I wish to accomplish as much as she did. It would be quite an honor if I could meet her in person. She’s… my hero. It is said that her powers rival even those of Naraku.”
~*End Flashback*~
Inuyasha sighed and looked down at his feet. “Kagome, please, just be yourself. Don’t… listen to what other people say. Besides, they don’t even know you and I’m sure you can accomplish a lot more than Kikyo ever did.”
Kagome looked up at Inuyasha surprised and nodded. She then left Inuyasha and went over to the seats. She grabbed out the first book she had found earlier and began reading it.
‘Approximately 3,524 years ago, a young hanyou named Inuyasha went after the Jewel of Four Souls that the priestess, Kikyo, was purifying. Kikyo shot him with her arrows, but never caused harm to him no matter how many times he went after her. Soon, Inuyasha demanded to know why she never killed him. She responded by saying he was a waste of arrows. One day, the young hanyou was watching her from the tree waiting for his chance to get the jewel. Kikyo had long sensed him and asked him to come and enjoy the view with her. Inuyasha reluctantly did so and demanded what she was up to. Kikyo told him she was up to nothing then said that she and Inuyasha were the same. She had told him that she and him could never actually be real humans and she gave him her reason why she could never be a normal woman and why he could never be a normal man. Inuyasha bluntly told her that weren’t at all alike. Kikyo had given him a sad expression and told him she supposed he was right. From then on, Inuyasha found himself falling in love with the young priestess and always followed her, keeping close to her, but far enough away for no one to notice.
One day, Kikyo had summoned for the young hanyou. Inuyasha had asked her what she wanted and she explained to him that he and she would become normal humans if he wished to be a full-fledged human for it would purify the jewel. If the jewel was purified and had disappeared, she, too, would become normal, as she wouldn’t have to worry about anyone taking advantage of her when she was off guard. And so, Inuyasha agreed to become human. But that horrid day…’
“What are you reading?” a voice said interrupting Kagome as she read the book.
Kagome looked behind her to see Inuyasha. She quickly tried to hide the book, but Inuyasha had grabbed it from her before she could.
“What the-The Legend of Inuyasha?” Inuyasha said looking down at the book. He opened the book turning to the first page. He began reading it despite Kagome’s protests.
“‘Kikyo had gone to the place where she told Inuyasha she would meet him at. As she drew nearer, to her surprise, she felt sharp claws dig into her skin. The young priestess fell to the ground dropping the Shikon no Tama. A foot then stepped on her outstretched hand that was going for the jewel. Kikyo looked up and to her surprise, she saw…’” Inuyasha stopped reciting the book looking down at it with wide eyes. “Th-This can’t be right.”
Kagome peeked over his shoulder as her eyes widened as well. “‘She saw that it was none other than the one she loved deeply. It was the hanyou, Inuyasha. Inuyasha smiled cockily, gave her his thanks for the jewel, and ran off to cause havoc in the small village from whence Kikyo had come from. Meanwhile, in the forest, the real Inuyasha was running to the spot where he would meet Kikyo when he saw an arrow fly by. He dodged it just in time and looked towards the one who had shot the arrow to see that it was Kikyo. He looked at her stunned and she released another arrow crying, ‘Die, Inuyasha!’ Inuyasha dodged the attack then ran off into the village to get his revenge. He ran into the temple and stole the Jewel of Four Souls. By then, the villagers had realized he had run there and went in to ambush him. They threw fire arrows at him, but he easily dodged them. He then made his escape through the roof. Other villagers threw a net over him, but he broke it and ran back into the forest. Inuyasha heard a cry and turned around to see the real Kikyo aiming an arrow at him. She then cried out his name and released her arrow. It hit Inuyasha in the chest causing him to drop the Shikon no Tama and get pinned to the Go-Shinboku God Tree. The horribly wounded Kikyo picked up the jewel saddened by that fact that Inuyasha would use the jewel for such a thing. Her younger sister, Kaede, ran to her side asking if she was okay. Kikyo told her she wouldn’t be able to live and to burn the jewel with her remains so she may take it with her to the next world.’” Kagome looked at the book with awe as well as great surprise. “Wow! She was so brave back then.”
Inuyasha grunted and said, “It can’t be me. I would never hurt Kikyo!”
“Yeah. I know,” Kagome said softly not sure how she knew and why she was suddenly feeling as though she had been stabbed in the heart.
Inuyasha shook his head and said, “I’m taking this book.”
“Yeah. Sure,” Kagome said no longer able to look up at Inuyasha.
“Well, third period’s almost over so… I’ll see ya later,” Inuyasha said and ran off.
Kagome watched him and softly said, “Bye.”
What did you think? I know there wasn’t exactly any action as of yet and stuff, but it’s coming soon. And just what do the books mean? A secret that will be revealed when… Whenever it comes back to me. ^^”” Lol. J/k. Everything will obviously be clarified in the next chapters.
