Inuyasha: The Prophecies

Chapter Twenty-four
Inukai woke up and saw that Destiny was gone. He frowned and began wondering where she had gone. He got his answer when he heard screaming and yelling.
“What are you doing?!” Anna’s voice cried.
“Getting you back!” Destiny cried.
“For what?!” Sharon demanded.
“For-for planning all of this all along!” Destiny cried.
Inukai frowned. Planning what? He heard the door shut and saw a raging Destiny go down the stairs. He gave her a puzzled look. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing!” Destiny practically yelled.
Inukai flinched as his ears went flat against his head. Something’s wrong. “You sure?”
“Yes!” Destiny cried and sat down on the couch crossing her arms.
Inukai sighed and sat down next to her. “Something’s wrong and you know it. Now, tell me.”
“I said nothing,” Destiny said in a low voice.
Inukai frowned and put a hand underneath her chin guiding it so that her eyes were gazing into his. “Now, I want you to tell me what’s wrong.”
Destiny sighed knowing there was no way she could get out of this one. She then muttered, “I hate you.”
“I know you do,” Inukai said smirking knowing it was a lie since she looked away. “So, what’s the matter?”
Destiny let out another sigh. “Anna and Sharon left me down here with you and I was lying down on your lap and they knew and didn’t try to prevent it.” She was blushing in embarrassment and, at the same time, was angry with her two best friends for planning it.
Inukai smirked, put one arm around Destiny’s waist, and dragged her onto his lap. Destiny let out a dog like yelp of surprise as her eyes widened. She then began blushing when she found she was sitting on Inukai’s lap and now had both of his arms around her waist.
“What-what are you doing?” Destiny asked.
Inukai nuzzled her neck, causing Destiny to blush even more and make her heart speed. “What does it look like I’m doing?”
Destiny gulped. “In-Inukai…”
Inukai looked at her. “What?”
“Quit it, please,” Destiny pleaded.
Inukai gave her a questioning look. “Quit what?”
“Just… let me go,” Destiny said.
Inukai did and watched her leave the house. Something really is wrong with her. He looked up the stairs. He then stood up and went up them stopping in front of the room Reiji and Max were in. He put his hand on the doorknob. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.” He then turned the knob and entered the room. Reiji and Max looked towards him.
“Umm, good morning?” Reiji said not sure if it even was the morning yet.
Inukai frowned and sat down on the bed and looked towards the other two. “Listen-”
“You came to us for advice, right?” Max asked smiling.
Inukai gave him a look and let out a defeated sigh. “Yes.”
“Then you’ve come to the right place,” Max said as his smile widened even more.
Inukai rolled his eyes while Reiji frowned.
“What do you need help with?” Reiji asked.
“Destiny,” Inukai muttered.
“Huh?” Reiji asked puzzled.
“Ahhh, girl trouble. I see,” Max said in a wise tone of voice.
Inukai and Reiji both rolled their eyes this time.
“How?” Reiji asked.
“She’s confusing me and… stuff,” Inukai said.
Reiji nodded. “Maybe she’s just feeling down, you know, depressed.”
Inukai shook his head. “Nah. I overheard her talking with Anna and Sharon sort of.”
“Are you talking about when Destiny snuck up to the girls’ room and tried to kill them?” Max asked.
Inukai nodded.
Reiji nodded in understanding.
“Then she came downstairs after she was done and I asked her what was wrong and she tried to bite off my head,” Inukai said.
Reiji nodded in understanding while Max gave him a strange look.
“She tried to bite off your head?” Max asked in a doubtful voice.
Inukai glared at Max. “Not literally, stupid!”
Max smiled and nodded. “Yes. I know. I was just messing with you.”
Inukai rolled his eyes. “Anyway, I tried to comfort her and eventually got the truth out of her.” He smirked. “You should’ve found out the reason she acted like that. It was hilarious now that I think of her reason for doing it.” He shook his head. “So, after getting the truth out of her, I put her on my lap and tried to show her how silly she was to go and torture Anna and Sharon just for a reason like that. I was just holding her and nuzzling her and I knew she liked it because she was blushing, her heart was pounding, and she was stammering.” Then again, I think I was blushing, too, and my heart was pounding so loud I was surprised that I could even hear what was going through my mind. “She told me to let her go and begged me to do so and I did. And then she left the house once she was free.”
“She’s just scared of what’s going on between you two,” Max said. “She’s not ready for all of this and, yet, it all is going after her anyway.”
“Don’t worry, though,” Reiji said. “Once she gets the hang of it all, she’ll be more than willing to have you hold her and stuff.”
“Now, go,” Max said.
“Show her you care,” Reiji said.
Inukai nodded and ran off.
Reiji and Max traded glances once Inukai was gone. The two then smirked and went to get Anna and Sharon.
Destiny ran as far as she possibly could from Sesshomaru’s home. She didn’t want to be anywhere near it. She didn’t want to have any of it. She wanted to know why she didn’t have all of her memory and, at the same time, she didn’t want to know the rest of her past. She didn’t want to believe that she was the reincarnation of Nina, and, yet, she knew she was. And, to top it all off, she didn’t want to be Inukai’s mate and fall in love with him, but she longed to be in his arms and to have him kiss her and wished she was kissing him. She knew no matter how hard she tried, everything she didn’t want to happen, was happening anyway. She was regaining memories of her past life, she was the reincarnation of Nina, and she was deeply in love with Inukai and knew she was his mate since she knew deep within her very heart and soul that she could not live on without him.
Soon, Destiny arrived outside of the city and glared at it.
“I hate it! I hate all of it! I don’t want to be involved with any of this! Go find some other poor defenseless girl to pick on! I don’t care if she’s human, half demon, or full demon! Just get me back to my normal life!!!” she shouted to the city then turned around to enter the forest.
Inukai frowned when he saw Destiny was nowhere around Sesshomaru’s home. He then sniffed the air and caught her scent then began following it.
Destiny walked further and deeper into the forest paying close attention to the scents and sounds of the creatures around her. She smirked. And he said I didn’t use my senses. I’d like to see him tell me that now. Once she reached the center and darkest part of the forest, she stopped and looked around. She smiled and hopped onto a branch of one of the trees then lied down on it and fell asleep.
Inukai was almost to the end of the city when he heard shouting. He winced when he heard the voice and what it was saying.
“I hate it! I hate all of it! I don’t want to be involved with any of this! Go find some other poor defenseless girl to pick on! I don’t care if she’s human, half demon, or full demon! Just get me back to my normal life!!!” the voice shouted.
Destiny, Inukai thought. He looked towards the direction it came from. Max and Reiji are right; all of this is too much for her. He began running towards the direction Destiny’s voice came from.
Destiny was running in a world of darkness and blood red. She was being chased by horribly deformed demons that were still unbelievably able to keep up with her. One of the demons was speaking to her and she wanted it to leave her alone, but it wouldn’t.
“Come into the darkness, Destiny,” the voice said. “You are one of us.”
Destiny shook her head and didn’t turn to look behind her as she continued on. “I’ll die before I go into ‘darkness’, you got me?!”
“Very well. You’ve sealed your fate,” the voice said darkly.
Destiny heard a roar as sharp claws sliced into her back. She let out a cry of pain and fell to the ground. She looked up in horror as a dark figure loomed over her getting ready to kill her.
Inukai ran through the forest desperately searching for Destiny. He then saw many birds fly away from something in a particular spot. He watched the birds suspiciously. There’s something going on over there. He then ran with a greater speed hoping that it wasn’t what he thought it was.
Destiny let out a scream as the figure went in for the kill.
Inukai soon heard whimpering and followed it to find Destiny lying down on a branch. He jumped up onto it and out Destiny in his lap. “Shhh, it’s okay. It’s just a nightmare,” he said as he ran his claws through her hair. “Everything’s okay. No one’s going to hurt you or anything and I’m here to protect you.”
Destiny’s eyes widened when she saw another dark figure appear. The figure let out a cry and slashed the one who had tried to hurt her, cutting it in half with its massive blade. The first dark figure disappeared and its slayer sheathed its blade. The living dark figure went over to her and held out its hand as the land and sky began to regain their colors as though some magical being had released them into the world.
Destiny soon saw that the dark figure wasn’t a dark figure and was, in fact, Inukai. She smiled as she took his hand.
Inukai smiled as he helped her up. “You okay?”
Destiny nodded. “Yeah. I’m fine.”
Inukai smiled when he saw that Destiny had finally stopped whimpering and smiled as well as blushed when she snuggled closer to him. It was then that he noticed something warm and wet was soaking his hand. He looked down at his hand to see it was red and sniffed it. His eyes widened in horror. “She’s bleeding!” He picked her up bridal style and began running through the forest to the others.
Anna and Sharon nodded.
“So, now what?” Anna asked.
“We spy on them, of course!” Max said.
Sharon frowned. “And have you any idea where they are?”
Max frowned and sighed. “No.”
“Exactly,” Sharon said.
“We’re demons, though, well, most of us,” Reiji said. “We can sniff out the two.”
“Yeah!” Max cried.
“Let’s not,” Anna said. “Or we’ll have two half demons trying to kill us.”
“Yeah and I’d still like to live, thank you very much,” Sharon said crossing her arms.
Max sighed in defeat while Reiji went to sit on the couch.
Right then and there, the door suddenly burst open, startling the four. All four of them got ready to fight before anything else could happen. They all let out sighs of relief when they saw that it was only Inukai holding… Destiny?
Max held a wide grin upon his face and went over to the two. “Ahhhhh, my dear friend, I never though I’d see the day that-”
“Shut. Up,” Inukai said giving Max a cold look.
Max took a step back, holding his hands up. “No need to take it so offensive when-”
Inukai growled, set Destiny down on the couch, and grabbed Max by the collar of his shirt before he or anyone else could say or do anything. He glared at him through narrowed eyes. “I have no time for you and your hentai thoughts, wolf. This is serious.” Max slowly nodded and Inukai released him. He then picked Destiny up again and sat down with her in his arms. He looked towards Reiji. “Destiny’s hurt so, get Rin and Sesshomaru. They might know what to do.” Reiji nodded and ran off to find them. Inukai then looked to Sharon and Anna. “You two wait here until those two get here.” He looked at Max. “And you… Just go find something to do. Something that’s actually helpful.”
Max rolled his eyes. “Aye-aye, Captain.” He then went upstairs to see what he could find that could possibly help them out.
“What… Happened?” Anna asked, clearly concerned, as were they all.
Sharon nodded in agreement.
“She got hurt. I don’t know how, but she did,” Inukai said, tightening his grip around the frail girl and drawing her closer to him unconsciously.
Sharon and Anna exchanged glances and shook their heads, knowing that now was not the time.
Soon, Reiji came back with Rin and Sesshomaru following behind.
Rin’s eyes widened and she quickly ran to Destiny’s side. “Oh my gosh! What happened?! Who did this to her?! When did this happen?! Why did-”
Sesshomaru rested a hand upon her shoulder, silencing her and giving her the signal that now was not the time to question such things and focus on the problem at hand. “I think it’s time we call upon my half brother and his mate.”
Rin nodded and stood up. “I’ll call Kagome-Chan. She should be able to help. If we were to go to the hospital, Naraku would hear about this and all would not be good.” She then left the room and entered the kitchen. She picked the phone up and dialed Inuyasha and Kagome’s number.
Kagome yawned and lied down on the couch, laying her head down on Inuyasha’s lap.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. “I’m not your pillow, Kagome.”
Kagome frowned. “And?”
“And I’m not your pillow, that’s what!” Inuyasha said.
Kagome rolled her eyes. “Whatever.” She turned to her side and watched the TV. She yawned again and drowsily tried to keep her eyes open.
The phone began ringing and Inuyasha picked it up. “Hello?”
Kagome closed her eyes. There was a long pause and she could only guess that the person on the other side of the phone was a telemarketer. It wasn’t until she heard Inuyasha’s next words, did she become suspicious and a bit worried.
“I see. Kagome and I will be there as soon as we possibly can,” Inuyasha said then hung up.
Kagome opened her eyes and sat up with a determined expression on her face. “Who was that and where are we going?”
Inuyasha slightly smirked and picked Kagome up bridal style. “My bro, Rin, Inukai, and the others need us.” He expression turned serious. “Tell me where you put that first aid stuff then I’ll take us to Fluffy’s.”
Kagome would have laughed at the name, but now was not the time. She and Inuyasha got the first aid kit and went on their way to Sesshomaru’s, Inuyasha style, of course.
Max went on his laptop and scrolled down. He read the words and let out a gasp. “Oh. My. God.” His eyes only widened as he scrolled further and further down. His eyes went so wide that it was a wonder why they were still in their sockets. His expression then turned serious once he was done reading. He stood up after he turned his laptop off. I have to tell the others.
Inukai glared out the window as her drew Destiny even closer to him. Destiny smiled and snuggled even closer. Inukai looked down at her and smiled as he moved a strand of hair away from her face, softly saying, “Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.” He kissed her on the forehead.
Anna smiled as well as Sharon.
Reiji looked towards Sharon and began blushing when he realized he was staring. He quickly looked away, trying to hide it from everyone.
Sharon looked towards Reiji, swearing she saw him staring at her. She shook her head and looked back to Destiny and Inukai.
Anna smiled and looked upstairs to where she had seen Max go. She felt an odd warmth go through her whole body. She then saw Max go down the stairs and, from the looks of it, he looked more panic than anything else.
Max looked towards Inukai and suddenly felt envious towards him and Destiny. He shook his head then realized he would be unable to tell Inukai the news. He looked towards Anna helplessly as though she could help him out.
Anna just raised a questioning eyebrow causing Max to let out a defeated sigh.
“Oi. What do you want, wolf?” Inukai asked, not even giving off any other indication that he had noticed Max was there.
Max remained silent for a while which got the attention of the others including Inukai, though, he didn’t show it. “I… Just realized I needed to tell Anna something. Something very important.”
Anna felt her heart skip a beat. He had said he wanted to tell her something very important and not the others, which could only mean one thing. He was going to tell her-
“What do ya have to tell her that we can’t know?” Inukai asked.
Max was about to answer when a certain someone’s voice cut them all off and gained their attention all at once.
“Let them be, Inukai,” Destiny muttered.
Everyone looked at her and instantly spouted out whatever had come to mind.
“You’re awake?!” Inukai demanded.
“I can take care of myself and all from that hentai, but you’re actually saying I should go with him?!” Anna cried.
“Are you okay?!” Sharon asked.
“Does she always talk in her sleep?” Reiji asked somewhat puzzled.
“You shouldn’t speak! Especially with those wounds you have!” Rin cried.
“She’s asleep. I hope you all know that,” Sesshomaru said, frowning.
Max remained silent as he slightly smiled.
Everyone calmed down and Inukai gently caressed Destiny’s cheek. The others watched him.
“So… Now what?” Anna asked.
“Go talk to Max. The rest of us will wait for Kag and Inu,” Inukai said.
Anna nodded, got up, and went over to Max, sending him a warning glare as they both walked out of the house. The two walked into the garden. Anna admired the scenery as she kept an eye on Max at the same time. Max sighed and shook his head.
Anna frowned and looked towards him. “So, what did you want to tell me?”
Max’s expression quickly changed to a serious one. “Anna…” He took her hand.
Anna felt her heart take up speed as he did so and felt herself begin to blush. She quickly shook her head as she narrowed her eyes dangerously. “What are you trying to pull? Because you do realize it won’t work.”
“Quit thinking badly of me and listen up. What I’m about to tell you could decide the fate of us all,” Max said.
“What do you mean?” Anna asked, turning serious.
“I mean, we’re going to be in for a world of hurt soon,” Max said.
“That’s not being elaborate enough,” Anna hissed.
Max sighed and looked away. “Naraku’s going to win.”
“Yeah. Right. And my mom’s going to win the lottery,” Anna said, rolling her eyes.
“I’m serious, Anna. He’s going to win,” Max said.
“And how would you know that?!” Anna demanded.
“Because-”
“Because?”
“Because he’s going to kill us all!”
“What the hell are you walking about?!”
“Anna, he’s going to destroy the damn Earth!”
“Wha?!”
“We’re going to be forced to live in outer space! Inuyasha and Kagome are going to die! By then, you and I will be dead! Inukai and Destiny will be dead! Everyone will be dead!”
Anna took a step back, putting a hand over her mouth. She shook her head. “You’ve gone insane. We’re not going to die. Naraku’s going to lose.”
Max put his hands on her shoulders, looking into her eyes. “Anna, he will lose in the future, but before then, he will win. Our final battle, that is when we will die. But when we do die, it will help the future that will get rid of him. We must accept our fate.” He hugged her as she slightly began crying, shouting at him in denial that they weren’t going to die, that Naraku wasn’t going to win. Eventually, Max calmed her down enough to not get the others’ attention and he began explaining everything to her.
