Chapter 2: The Man I Thought Was Dead

Kagome walked down the sidewalk with two heavy bags of clothes in her hands.  As she got up the steps she saw her mother sweeping.  Kagome walked up to her.

"Ah, Kagome!" her mother said.  "You have some guests in the house."
     "Really?"  said Kagome.
"Yes.  They're two boys saying that they were looking for you, your Grandfather speaking to them right now."

Two boy, eh? Kagome thought, they must be the boys from the mall.
"Thanks Mom."  said Kagome as she ran inside the house.  When she went in she heard her Grandfather talking to the boys.  She put down her bags and entered into the other room where the boys were.  When she entered she saw her Grandfather and her brother Sota talking to two boys around the table. One that was sitting across the table had green pants, a blue shirt, and a green vest.  He also had brown eye and brown hair that was in a ponytail. The other boy was sitting with his back turned on her but he turned around when she came in.  Kagome gasped.  He had a red cap, a red shirt, blue jeans, and white running shoes.  He also had white hair and yellow eyes.

     "I... I... I know you."  Kagome said.
All the boys in the room smiled.
"You're Mike Lambardo I met on the streets."
All the boys fell over (Anime style of course.).
"Kagome!  Don't you know who this is?"  Her Grandfather said.
"Yeah, I mean you know the guy!"  Sota said.
     "I do?"  asked Kagome.
"My gosh Kagome, I thought you'd remember me."  The white haired boy said.  "It's only been eight weeks."
"Hey, how do you know my name?"
     "You stupid girl!" he said.
     "Stupid... girl?"
"Maybe this will refresh your memory," he said as he pulled his cap off.  When he pulled off his cap he revealed two dog-ears on top of his head.  Kagome stared at him wide eyed.

     "Inu... Inuyasha?"  Kagome said quietly.
Inuyasha grinned and turned around to look at the guys.  "Well, at least she remembers me."  Then, he heard a thud behind him.  He turned around to see Kagome lying on the floor.  "She... fainted." he said a bit dumbfounded.

Kagome woke up with her eyes still closed. She felt softness under meaning she was on the sofa.  She also felt a warm wet cloth on her forehead.  "Are you okay, Kagome?"  It was her Mother's voice.
"Oh Mom, I had this wonderful dream," Kagome said with her eyes closed.   "I dreamt that Inuyasha came back and he was still alive.  And he was right here in the house."
"Ah well, about that," Kagome's mother said.
"It was a dream, wasn't it?" Kagome said opening her eyes and sitting up.  She sat up staring at her Mother.  She then looked over her
shoulder to see Inuyasha pacing up and down.

Inuyasha turned and looked at Kagome. "Kagome!"

Kagome stared at Inuyasha for a while then she got up off the sofa and ran to Inuyasha hugging him as she cried.  "You stupid, arrogant, selfish...” cried Kagome as Inuyasha hugged her with one arm and stroked her hair with the other.  "It's okay," he said softly, "it's okay."

Kagome then stopped crying and pulled away from him.  She glared at Inuyasha, which made him step back.  "You left me miserable for eight weeks Inuyasha." she said angrily.  "You don't know how I felt.  And now you're going to pay for that.  SIT!"
Inuyasha stood there, not moving.  Kagome looked at him questionly.
     "SIT!"
Still, Inuyasha didn't plummeted to the ground.  "What's going on?"
Inuyasha smiled as he pulled down his shirt collar.  It revealed nothing but his chest.  "As you can see, the necklace isn't there anymore."
     "But how?!" asked Kagome.
"Well.  Since you left the Feudal Era for good, the necklace lost your connection of magic and then became a regular necklace.  And you probably guess what I did next.  I took it off."
"But how did you come back to life?"
     "Well, you see-"

Before Inuyasha could finish, everyone heard yelling coming from outside.  It sounded like Kagome's Grandfather.  Then, they heard the door open making Kagome's Grandfathers voice even louder.  He seemed to be yelling at someone.
"What gives you the right to come into my house!”
Then, a man entered the room.  He wore a black leather jacket, a black shirt, black jeans, and black cowboy boots.  He also had yellow eyes and long white hair.  And he had a cold dark stare.

"Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha said as Kagome hid behind him.  "What are you doing here?!"
"Hello little brother," said Sesshomaru.  "It has been a long time since we seen each other."
     "What do you want?!"
"I'm here to ask you a favor.  Since you still owe me a favor."
"Man, I thought he wouldn't ask," Inuyasha said under his breath. "Damn it"
     "Favor?" Kagome asked.  "What favor?"
"Well, you see I owe him a favor for uh... uh-"
"He owes me a favor for resurrecting him," Sesshomaru said with annoyance in his voice.

Everyone in the room except Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Shippo fell silent.  Kagome stared wide-eyed at Sesshomaru with her mouth slightly open, Inuyasha stared nervously at Kagome, and Shippo sat on the couch saying nothing.

"I never thought you would be the one who brought Inuyasha back to life," Kagome said with awe as she pointed a finger at him.
Inuyasha helped Kagome guide her way to the couch as Inuyasha looked up at Sesshomaru.  "So, what's the favor?"
"Have you heard in the news that people were being killed in camping sites on the mountain?"
"Yeah, I heard about that.  Why?"
"Well, I've been up there and I found out what has been killing the humans."
     "What have?" Inuyasha asked.
"Wolves have been killing the humans at the mountain?"
     "Yeah, so?"
"Have you ever heard of wolves attacking hundreds of people at their own free will?"
"No, wolves will only attack-" Inuyasha began.
"-If they are being possessed," Sesshomaru finished.  "I suspect that the wolves are being possessed by a powerful demon."
     "What makes you say that?"
"When I went up there, hundreds of wolves attacked me.  Of course, I killed them all."
"Okay, I'll help."  Inuyasha said, "It's just because I owe you one."
"Okay than.  I'll meet you at the bottom of the mountain," Sesshomaru said as he walked out the door.  Inuyasha followed him outside.  When
he got out, he saw Sesshomaru sitting on a Harley Davison motorcycle revving it up. He looked back at Inuyasha and yelled, "I'll meet you at the
beginning of the mountain trail."  Then, he picked his feet up and drove off.

Inuyasha followed Sesshomaru with his eyes as he disappeared from sight.  Then, Kagome came out of the house with Shippo behind her. When she came up to Inuyasha, pointed at Shippo, and asked, "Who is this person?"
     "That's Shippo, Kagome!"
Kagome turned around and looked at Shippo amazed.  "Wow Shippo. I'm amazed.  You've grown so much."
"Yeah, well, years have passed and I've grown a lot." Shippo said.
"Well, we better get going.  We're supposed to meet Sesshomaru at the Mountain trail."  said Inuyasha.
"I'll meet ya back at the house." Shippo said as he dashed off to his right.
"Well, I'll be leaving you now, take care." Inuyasha said softly.
"Oh, no you're not," Kagome said stubbornly.  "I'm coming with you."
     "But... but-"
"No buts.  I'm coming with you if you like it or not."
"Okay, climb on." he said lazily.

Kagome climbed on top of Inuyasha's back as he jumped off where Shippo went.  "You let me go with you too easily," Kagome said.  "You usually don't give up that easily.  Did you miss me that much?"
"Yeah, I missed you a lot," Inuyasha said as he continued towards the direction Shippo left.  "The only times I've seen you were the times I
spied on you."
"I knew someone was spying on me, and it was you."

Inuyasha jumped in silence while Kagome was on his back.  "What happened to the Shikon Jewel, Inuyasha?" Kagome asked.
"Well, the Shikon Jewel... no one knows what happened to it.  It's gone forever."
"How was it lost?  I thought Miroku and Sango was to guard the Shikon Jewel."
"They were.  But they had to go to a village and they brought the Shikon Jewel with them.  Before they got there they were attacked by demons.   During the battle they lost the Shikon Jewel.  No one seemed to find the Shikon Jewel.  It was like it never existed."
     "So no one found it?"
"That's right.  No one found it, it was like it never existed."

Inuyasha stopped at a house that was pretty far from the city.  He let Kagome down as he rummaged through his pockets.  He then pulled out a key and put it into the lock and turned it.  When Inuyasha and Kagome entered they saw Shippo walking out of a room putting on a belt.  Kagome closed the door behind her as she dazed at the house.  "This is a very nice house, Inuyasha." Kagome complimented.

"Thanks, I built it myself." Inuyasha said as he walked into his room.
"Whoa, you built it yourself?" she said doubly.
"Yeah I did.  After years of rebuilding it so it can blend in, it's pretty much a hard work."
"Where did you get the money to build this?"
"I have job," Inuyasha said poking his head out the door of his room.
"As what?" Kagome said with interest.
"As a manager of a store," he said pulling his head back into his room.
     "Oh."
Inuyasha came out of his room putting on a belt.  "What's with belts you guys?"  Kagome asked.  "It's for our swords," Shippo said as he went back into his room.

Inuyasha went to the door between the rooms and opened it.  Inside the room Kagome saw hundreds of candles surrounding a high table that had the Tetsusaiga rested on top of it.  Inuyasha picked up the Tetsusaiga and slide into his belt.  He walked out of the room and closed the door as he unsheathed the Tetsusaiga.  Inuyasha turned around showing the Tetsusaiga as an old dull sword.  He then swung the sword, which transformed into a giant fang.

"Yep, I still got it." Inuyasha said as he sheathed the Tetsusaiga.
Just when Inuyasha sheathed the Tetsusaiga, Shippo came walking out of his room with a sword by his side.
"You know how to use a sword, Shippo?" Kagome asked.
"Yeah, Inuyasha showed me how to use a sword way back than."
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Inuyasha said.  "Let's get to that mountain before nightfall."
"I'm way ahead of you!" said Shippo as he dashed out the front door in a blur of blue and green.  Inuyasha walked up to the opened front door and looked back at Kagome.
"Are you sure you want to go with us?" he asked.
"I'm coming with you no matter what," Kagome said stubbornly.
     "Okay."
Inuyasha and Kagome left the house while Kagome rode on top of Inuyasha's back.  Inuyasha followed the blurred color of Shippo into the forest.  When they arrived at the mountain trail, there was no one to be found but Inuyasha smelled a familiar scent in the air.

"Sesshomaru is around here somewhere." Inuyasha said.
"How can we trust Sesshomaru?"  Kagome said.  "I mean, he is evil."
"Hey, I'm still here aren't I?" Inuyasha said.
"Yeah, you do got a point."
"Hey, can't we stay on the mission at task?!" asked Shippo.
"Are you telling me what to do?!" Inuyasha said getting into Shippo's face.
"Yeah I'm telling what you what to do!"
"Have you forgotten what dirt tastes like?!"
     "Ah-hem."

Everyone turned to where the voice came from.  There in the shadows of trees was an outline figure of Sesshomaru.  "I was wondering if you
were ever going to show up." Sesshomaru said calmly.
Inuyasha gave him a dirty look and turned away.  "Well, we're here. Where are the wolves?"
"They're not here yet.  I was thinking maybe they found someone else to feed on."
"Don't be so ridicules," Inuyasha said.  "They're probably-" but he stopped when he got a good whiff of the air.  He turned around, as he smelled a fresh scent of blood and wolves.  "You smell that guys?"
     "I smell it," Shippo said.
"I smell it too," said Sesshomaru.
Everyone followed the scent as they approached an opening area that was filled with wolves.  As everyone stopped Inuyasha saw the person that was being attacked.  It was a man dressed in outdoor clothing.  "We gotta stop this!" said Inuyasha as he jumped into the pack of wolves.  "Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!"  As Inuyasha slashed at the wolves, blood kept flying everywhere.

"Hey!  I'm not going to sit back and let Inuyasha have all the fun," Shippo said as he unsheathed his sword and jumped in on what was left of the pack.

Inuyasha kept slashing at the wolves and trying to protect the camper. Shippo was relentlessly killing the closest wolf he could find with his sword. After all the wolves were dead, as some retreated, Kagome and Sesshomaru came out into the clearing.

"Well, some help you were," Inuyasha said to Sesshomaru sarcastically.
"It looked like you could handle that all by yourself without any help," Sesshomaru said calmly.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes and walked up to the camper.  "Are you alright?" he asked.
"Boy, that fight took so long," the camper said.  "I could have beaten all of them way faster than you could."
     "What?!" Inuyasha said.
"You don't remember who I am, do you, Mutt?"
"Mutt?!  Hey, who the hell are you?!"
The camper sneered, "I am Koga, the wolf demon."
