Sorry I had to keep you al waiting. As some of you know, I started school on Wednesday and I had a lot of homework even though it was only the first day of school and then on Thursday the power went out and then last Saturday, I think, the computer shut down and my dad restarted it and when he did it erased everything I had on it. So, I had to start it all over again. I really am sorry you all had to wait. Well, read the second before the last chapter and I hope you all enjoy it. ^_^

Chapter Twenty-one

Inuyasha kicked Naraku. Naraku crashed into the wall and quickly got up. He then shot out his webbing. Inuyasha cut it with his sword and went in for the kill. Naraku quickly moved out of the way and shot out his poison. Inuyasha ducked as Kagome shot an arrow getting rid of the poison. Sango threw her boomerang at Naraku’s legs cutting off two of them. Sota, Sharon, Anna, Shippo, Miroku, Rin, Koga, and Kohaku ran into the battle blocking Naraku’s legs from harming anyone. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha jumped on top of the abdomen and began battling it out with the human side of his form.

Nina watched them all and quickly ran over to Inukai. She then kneeled down by the half demon and laid his head on her lap. Please be okay.

Naraku growled and threw them all off him sending Inuyasha and the others (except Nina and Inukai, of course) crashing into the wall and into each other. They quickly got back up to see what Naraku was doing. Green light then began surrounding Naraku. The gang watched in awe and wonder. The light soon disappeared and Naraku had all his body parts back and intact. He then snarled at the whole gang and raised his hands up. The ground began shaking and Kagome grabbed onto Inuyasha’s arm to keep herself from falling down while Inuyasha put her behind him holding Tessaiga in front of him, Sango and Miroku, Sesshomaru and Rin all did the same while the rest held onto what ever was nearby that would support them. Walls then began rising from the floor. Soon, the whole room was turned into a maze separating everyone from the rest of their comrades.

Inuyasha frowned as he looked around for any sign of Naraku. “Stupid bastard, he’s just trying to buy himself some time to stop himself from dying any faster.”

“Inuyasha, I think we should look for the others,” Kagome said out of fear as she looked around.

Inuyasha put a comforting hand over hers. “Don’t worry, they’ll be fine.”

Sango and Miroku looked around cautiously as they wondered if the others were okay.

“I hope Naraku hasn’t gotten to them,” Sango said as she put a hand on Miroku’s arm.

Miroku put a hand over hers. “They’ll be fine. The one I’m not so sure about is Inuyasha, but Kagome will see to it that he doesn’t do anything stupid.”

                                    “You’re right,” Sango said smiling.

Sota, Kohaku, and Shippo looked down the three corners, one running to the left, the other to the right, and the last one running straight.

“Clear on your side?” Kohaku asked.

                                    “Yeah,” Sota said.

                                    “Same here,” Shippo said.

“Which way should we go?” Sota asked.

“Naraku would most likely be down the straight path so I say we go either left or right,” Kohaku said.

“I say we go right because left is always the wrong way,” Shippo said.

Sota raised an eyebrow and shrugged. “Whatever you say.”

The three young men began going down the path.

Sesshomaru looked down at a frightened Rin as she clutched tightly to the sleeve of his shirt.

                                    “Sesshomaru, I’m scared,” Rin said.

Sesshomaru put an arm around her waist and drew her close to him. “Don’t worry. I’ll get you out of here.” He looked down towards his right then left. He sighed then took her with him down the path to the left.

Nina looked around nervously. Oh, no. What if Naraku comes? He’ll hurt Inukai and he’s in no condition to fight. This is bad. This is bad. This is bad! She then felt a hand go over hers. She looked down to meet Inukai’s golden eyes.

“Quit being so scared. The others are fine and so am I,” Inukai said as he met Nina’s hazel brown eyes. He felt his heart begin to speed up as his breathing began to slow down.

Though Inukai didn’t know it, Nina was having the same reaction as Inukai. She felt herself begin to blush and quickly looked away. She let out a sigh of relief as she put a hand over her racing heart.

Inukai also let out a sigh of relief until he realized his head was on her lap. He quickly sat up, looked away, went into his Inuyasha pose as he began to blush brilliantly. What just happened there? What is wrong with me?

Nina let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding and looked back towards Inukai. “So-sorry.”

Inukai felt his blush disappear and looked towards Nina. “Heh, why you apologizing? I don’t see why you would be.”

“Inukai,” Nina said as she looked down at the ground, “please, don’t ever do that again.”

“Do what again?” Inukai asked puzzled.

“Don’t fight Naraku like that ever again,” Nina said. She then shot her head up as tears began to fill her eyes. “I was scared and I thought you were really going to die!”

“Feh. Naraku can’t kill me that easily,” Inukai said going back into his Inuyasha pose. “He’ll have to do a hell of a lot better if he wants me dead.”

“Why you-you don’t understand anything, you big insensitive, immature, inconsiderate, bratty, show off, creepy jerk! I was worried about you!” Nina cried. “Don’t you understand anything?! I-I l-l…” Nina trailed off as she looked back down at the ground.

“You l-l-what?” Inukai asked raising an eyebrow.

“Nothing,” Nina said shaking her head. “It’s nothing.”

Inukai frowned. “Fine. Whatever.” He stood up. “Well, I’m leaving. I don’t care if you come or anything, but if you stay here, I’ll leave you behind.”

Nina quickly stood up as Inukai began to walk down the path that ran to the right. She quickly ran to his side just in time as he began to fall forward. Nina caught him and kneeled down as her eyes filled with concern. “I think you shouldn’t move, I mean, your wounds are pretty bad.”

“I’m fine,” Inukai said as he sat up and got out of Nina’s arms. “It’s nothing. Just felt a bit dizzy there for a minute.”

Nina nodded, but Inukai could tell she was still worried.

Inukai’s eyes narrowed. “I said I’m fine, okay. Now, quit being such a puppy.”

Nina let out a low growl. “I’m not a puppy,” she said as her own eyes narrowed.

Inukai smirked. “Oh? Prove it. Quit being such a worried wart.”

“I am not a worried wart,” Nina said.

                                    “Yes, you are,” Inukai said.

                                    “Am not,” Nina protested.

                                    “Too.”

                                    “Not.”

                                    “Too.”

                                    “Not!”

                                    “Too!”

                                    “NOT!”

                                    “Too!”

And so, the two began arguing.

Koga looked around. “Okay. Naraku’s separated us from everyone else which either means he wants to take on Inuyasha one on one or wants to take us all one on one.” He turned a corner and began thinking about which of his theories would be most likely to happen.

Sharon and Anna looked around the maze.

“Man, Naraku’s a coward doing this to us,” Sharon said.

“Yeah. I know what you mean,” Anna said. “He’s stronger than us and wants to take us down one at a time because he knows that when we’re all together we’re unbeatable.”

                                    “Exactly,” Sharon said.

Inuyasha and Kagome continued going down the path.

“Oh, this is bad,” Kagome said. “What if Naraku attacks Nina? She has the Shikon no Tama, you know.”

“She’ll be fine. Inukai’s with her and he won’t let anything happen to her,” Inuyasha said.

Kagome smiled. “Yeah. You’re right.” She put his hand in hers. “He’ll protect her no matter what. Just like you’ll do for me.” Even though he won’t admit how he feels and she won’t either. Reminds me a lot of someone. Or should I say two certain some ones? She giggled.

“What?” Inuyasha asked smiling at her smiling face.

                                    Kagome began laughing.

“What?!” Inuyasha asked his smile widening.

Kagome tried answering him, but failed as her laughter became louder.

“What?! What?!” Inuyasha asked playfully poking her at her sides. “Tell me.”

“St-st-stooo-ppp iii-ttt,” Kagome said as tears began to fill her eyes from laughing so much. “Yyyyyyyoooooooooouuuuuuu’rrrreeeeeee nnnoooooooottt heeeeeeeelpiiiiiiiiiiiing!”

Inuyasha smiled and wanted to tickle her, but knew he couldn’t for now wasn’t the time or place to do so. He waited for Kagome to calm down and soon enough, she did. “Well?” he asked raising an eyebrow.

“Oh, I was just thinking of something really stupid,” Kagome said softly as she put her free hand on Inuyasha’s arm. “Don’t worry about it.”

Inuyasha sighed and down the path. Whatever.”

Sango and Miroku continued going down the path hoping to bump into any of their comrades and not Naraku.

“This place is really starting to give me the creeps,” Shippo said.

                                    “Same here,” Sota said.

“Guys, Naraku’s a spider so try to keep your voices low,” Kohaku said.

                                    The other two nodded.

“Sesshomaru, I think we should find the others,” Rin said.

“No. I’m getting you out of here,” Sesshomaru said trying to figure out where the exit was. “I’m not risking you getting captured, hurt, or worse.”

Rin let out a defeated sigh and knew there was no way she could convince him to stay and look for the others since she wasn’t a little girl anymore.

Nina and Inukai turned their backs to each other going into Inuyasha poses. The two then said, “You started it.” They then spun around. “I did not!” They then growled and turned their backs to each other again.

                                    “Jerk,” Nina muttered.

                                    “Witch,” Inukai muttered.

                                    “Creep.”

                                    “… Jerk.”

                                    “Brat.”

                                    “Baby.”

                                    “Insensitive jerk.”

                                    “… Puppy.”

Nina spun around and pointed a threatening finger at Inukai’s chest as he, too, spun around smirking. “I. Am. Not. A. PUPPY!”

Inukai didn’t answer and just continued smirking.

Nina then smiled as an idea came to her. She crossed her arms proudly. “Take that back or I’ll say the word.”

“Word? What word?” Inukai asked raising an eyebrow.

“The word that makes you fall down face flat to your face,” Nina said as her smile widened.

Inukai let out a low growl as his eyes narrowed. “Do and you’re dead.”

Nina’s smile widened and she let out a giggle.

Inukai’s eyes widened to her reaction and he smiled. “What? You wanna die?”

Nina continued giggling as it turned into laughter.

Inukai’s smile widened and held up a claw playfully. “I will hurt you if you don’t quit laughing.”

Nina continued laughing despite Inukai’s warning. She soon stopped and looked towards Inukai still smiling. Their eyes met and Nina then remembered something. “The Shikon Jewel, you have it. I would like it back.”

Inukai looked at her puzzled for a minute then realized what she was talking about. He reached into his shirt and grabbed out the jewel to see, to his surprise as well as Nina’s, that it was glowing. He raised an eyebrow, but handed it over to Nina. Nina put it back around her neck as she felt the warmth begin to spread throughout her body.

Inukai then remembered Midoriko telling him, Nina, and everyone else about why the jewel glowed all the time. He crossed his arms as he smirked. “So, tell me, who is it that you love?”

Nina began blushing. “N-no one. Why would you think such a thing?”

Inukai saw the Shikon Jewel begin to glow even more. He smirked even more and pointed a finger at it. “Better tell that to the jewel.”

Nina gasped and quickly covered it. “N-no. I-it’s not true. I-I don’t like anyone like that.” Her face began turning even redder.

“Heh, it’s written across your face. You love someone and you know you do,” Inukai teased. His smile then faded as he began to think about whom she did love. I-it wouldn’t be Koga, would it? Or does she love Shippo? Or even Sota. His dog-ears drooped at the thought.

Nina spotted this and put a hand on his arm. “Inukai, it doesn’t matter who I love because, well, you’re-you’re th-the-the… never mind. Forget about it.”

Inukai looked towards her as his ears perked up and her eyes darted to the ground. “Wha-what do you mean?” He felt his heart begin to speed up.

Nina gulped and looked towards Inukai. “I-I-I don’t know how-how to explain it.” She felt her whole face turn an even deeper shade of red as a thought hit her. She took a deep breath, leaned over towards Inukai, and kissed Inukai on the cheek. She then quickly backed away and looked down at the ground as her face turned an even darker shade of red. “Th-thank you for everything. I-I don’t think I would’ve gotten this far without you.”

Inukai began blushing. “Yeah-yeah, sure, no problem.” He gulped and went over to Nina his blush disappearing. “Heh, so, is it me?”

Nina quickly looked away hoping Inukai couldn’t tell she was blushing even more and couldn’t hear her heart begin to speed and her breathing becoming slow.

Inukai smiled and sat next to her. “Well? You going to answer me?”

Nina turned to face him. Their eyes met.

Koga heard something go past him and spun around to see… nothing. He frowned and turned back around to continue go down the path. He then heard something go past him again and turned around baring his teeth at what ever had passed him. He frowned again when he saw no one there and turned back around. He then let out a cry as his eyes widened in surprise.

Sharon and Anna heard a cry and stopped in their tracks.

                                    “What was that?” Sharon asked.

“I don’t know, but I hope what ever made someone cry doesn’t come to us,” Anna said looking around. Especially if it’s a bug.

Kagome grabbed onto Inuyasha’s arm. “Who was that? I hope no one’s in trouble.” She looked up at Inuyasha who had his sword ready to fight. “Inuyasha?” He didn’t give her any sign that he had heard her. “Inuyasha.” He still didn’t give her any sign. Kagome let out a growl of frustration and began shaking Inuyasha. “Inuyasha!”

Inuyasha began getting dizzy and quickly grabbed her by the shoulders and held her in front of him. “Will you quit it, woman?! I heard you! Sheesh!”

Kagome’s eyes narrowed. “Well, you didn’t answer me so how would I know?!”

Inuyasha growled. “I was trying to see if it was Naraku and now I will never know because of you!”

Kagome put her hands on her hips. “Well, sorry I didn’t know!”

Inuyasha growled again. “You know what, I can’t take you anywhere without you getting in my way! That’s all you do! You always get in my way no matter what!”

Kagome’s eyes saddened at the comment and turned her back to him as tears began to fill her eyes. “So-so then that’s all I do? Is get in the way?”

Inuyasha then realized his words hurt her and hugged her drawing her close to him. “Sorry. No. You don’t always get in the way. You give me my strength, you know that. I didn’t mean any of that. I’m just mad that Naraku won’t leave us alone already.”

“I understand,” Kagome said turning around to face him her tears gone. “Now let’s go find the others.”

Inuyasha nodded, released her, and the two began going back down the path.

Sango’s eyes widened when she heard the cry and looked towards Miroku. “What do you think happened?”

“I don’t know,” Miroku said. “We better find Inuyasha and fast.”

                                    Sango nodded.

Shippo, Kohaku, and Shippo stopped in their tracks when they heard the cry.

                                    “Wha-what was that?” Shippo asked.

                                    “I don’t know,” Kohaku said.

“What ever it was, I hope the same doesn’t happen to us,” Sota said.

Sesshomaru tensed when he heard the cry and drew Rin closer to him while her grip on his shirt tightened. “That’s it. I am getting you out of here no matter what.”

                                    Rin nodded and followed him.

Inukai and Nina stared into each other’s eyes. Their faces drew closer, closer, closer, and then they heard the cry and quickly backed away from each other. The two stood up and Inukai unsheathed Tsugerio. He then put Nina behind him looking for what ever had caused who ever to cry out. Nina looked around nervously.

“That-that sounded like Koga,” Nina said.

Inukai growled as he looked around. He then grabbed Nina’s hand. “Come on. We better get going.”

Nina nodded and smiled as she intertwined her fingers with his.

Koga fell to the ground as his eyes went blank. Naraku pulled away from Koga’s neck where he had bitten him and ejected his poison into him. Green slime was going down Naraku’s lower jaw. He then turned around and left behind a very injured Koga.

Sharon and Anna turned another corner ready to fight any moment.

Inuyasha and Kagome turned yet another corner as they searched for which ever comrade had been attacked.

Sango and Miroku turned another corner to see… Anna and Sharon. The couple ran over to the two teenaged girls.

“Okay. So, now which way do we go?” Anna asked as Sango and Miroku reached her and Sharon.

“Mmm, let’s go right,” Sharon said.

The four then began going down that path.

Sota, Kohaku, and Shippo continued going down the path. The three young men then heard something go past them and turned around to see… nothing. Just in case, they all grabbed out their weapons and turned to continue going down the path.

“Guys, this place is really giving me the creeps,” Sota said.

                                    “Me, too,” Shippo said.

“We have to keep going, though,” Kohaku said.

Shippo and Sota nodded and followed Kohaku.

Sota then heard something go past him and quickly turned around to still see nothing. Kohaku and Shippo turned around also. The three then turned back around when they heard something go past them, but still saw nothing. They let out sighs of relief and continued going down the path.

Sota’s eyes widened in horror as he felt hot air on his neck. He gulped and turned around to see…

“Naraku!” Shippo cried as he saw the demon grab Sota by his feet holding him upside down.

                                    “Sota!” Kohaku cried.

Green slime began coming out of Naraku’s mouth.

Kohaku immediately knew what was going to happen and threw his sickle at Naraku.

Naraku saw this and quickly put Sota in the way of the weapon.

“Sota!” Shippo and Kohaku cried their eyes widening with horror.

Rin stopped when she heard Sota’s name. She looked up at Sesshomaru. “It’s Sota. He’s Kagome’s little brother. We have to save him. Please?”

Sesshomaru nodded, grabbed Rin’s hand, and followed the direction the voice came from.

Inukai and Nina heard Sota’s name. Nina’s eyes filled with horror and she quickly looked up at Inukai to see his eyes were also filled with fear. He began biting his lower lip and due to his fangs he drew blood from it. He ignored the coppery taste and sheathed his sword. He then turned to face Nina.

“Get on my back,” Inukai said.

Nina smiled and nodded. As soon as she was on, Inukai began running in the direction of the cry.

Naraku, you bastard, I’m not letting you kill my best friend, too, Inukai thought his face turning into a look of determination.

He’s so loyal to his friends, Nina thought. Of course he is! He’s half dog demon, remember, stupid. Her eyes softened. And he’s the half dog demon that you’re in love with. Of course, I’ll never tell him, but I still do.

Kagome quickly grabbed Inuyasha’s arm out of fear as soon as she heard her brother’s name. “Inuyasha, Sota’s in trouble. We have to save him.”

Inuyasha grabbed her hand and began running to the scene. “Well, duh, of course I’m going to save your little brother. What will your mother and grandpa say if I just let him die?”

Kagome smiled as Inuyasha picked her up carrying her bridal style.

Sharon, Anna, Sango, and Miroku began running in the direction the cry came from set on saving Sota.

Sota tried getting free kicking and punching at Naraku, but failed in his attempts. He saw the sickle drawing nearer and closed his eyes readying himself for the pain. He heard something clash with the sickle and opened his eyes to see Inuyasha holding Tessaiga.

Naraku snarled and threw Sota at Inuyasha. He and Inuyasha crashed into the wall. Shippo used his foxfire. Naraku blocked the attack. Sota and Inuyasha quickly got up. Sota soon saw that Sango and Miroku, Rin and Sesshomaru, Kagome (obviously), Sharon, Anna, Inukai, and Nina had arrived.

“You okay?” Inukai asked concern written all over his face.

                                    “Yeah,” Sota said.

Inuyasha stood in front of Naraku growling. “It’s time to end this, you bastard.”

Naraku snarled. “I agree, half breed.” He held up his hands. The ground began shaking violently. The walls and ceiling then began crumbling.

“He’s collapsing the palace!” Miroku cried.

“We have to get out of here!” Sango cried.

The others nodded and began running away. Kagome, Inukai, and Nina stayed behind with Inuyasha.

Kagome went over to her husband. “Come back to me. I can’t lose you.”

                                    “I will,” Inuyasha said.

The two quickly hugged each other. They then separated as Inukai and Nina went over to Inuyasha.

“Don’t die, okay,” Nina said. “Or I won’t exist anymore.”

Inuyasha smirked. “Don’t worry. I won’t.” He then looked towards Inukai. “Protect Nina with your life and make sure she and Kagome get out of here safely.”

“I will,” Inukai said also smirking. He then grabbed Nina and Kagome’s hands and began running towards wherever the exit was.

Inuyasha watched and then turned around to face Naraku. “Let’s go.”
                                    Naraku charged after Inuyasha.

Sesshomaru and the others soon saw daylight and knew they were at the exit. They quickly left the palace, the village, and ran into the forest nearby watching the village.

Inukai, Nina, and Kagome ran down the maze searching for the exit. Bits and pieces began falling from the ceiling as well as walls that were crashing down. Nina quickly stopped when she saw, to her horror, a collapsed Koga. Inukai and Kagome did, too, to see why Nina had stopped.

Inukai frowned and went over to Koga. He then checked for a pulse.

                                    “Is he… dead?” Nina asked.

“No,” Inukai said standing up. “He’s fine.” He frowned as he looked down at the wolf demon. “Wake up, you flea bitten wolf.” Koga didn’t wake up. Inukai growled and kicked Koga’s head. “I said, wake up!”

Koga sat up rubbing his head. He then shot Inukai a glare. “Mutt, you’re gonna-“

“Koga, not right now,” Nina said. “We have to get out of here.”

Koga soon realized what she was talking about and stood up.

Inukai looked up to see light. He then looked towards Koga. “Hey. Do you think you can make it up there with Kagome?”

Koga looked up and nodded. He then went over to Kagome, picked her up bridal style despite her protests, and jumped up through the hole.

Inukai sighed as he turned to face Nina. She smiled.

                                    “Thanks,” Nina said.

                                    “For what?” Inukai asked.

“Not making me go with Koga,” Nina said.

“Feh. I only did it ‘cause Inuyasha would kill me if I didn’t get her out of here through the fastest way,” Inukai said. “And so would Sota.”

Nina rolled her eyes and smiled. “Whatever you say.”

Inukai saw piece of the ceiling begin to give way where he and Nina were standing. He quickly grabbed her hand and ran out of the way just in time when it fell down. “I wish I could take the short cut outta here, but I don’t have the strength.”

                                    “It’s okay,” Nina said.

The two then began running searching for the exit.

Inuyasha jumped above Naraku and punched him in the face. Naraku growled and sent out his miasma. Inuyasha ignored the poison that began nipping at his skin as his red shirt disintegrated. Inuyasha looked around, bit still saw no sign of Naraku. He then heard a cry and spun around just in time to see Naraku charging after him. Inuyasha put his sword up in defense blocking Naraku’s attack. Naraku growled and spat out webbing. Inuyasha frowned and cut through the webbing. He then went in for the kill. Naraku tried dodging it, but failed as Inuyasha cut off three of his legs. Naraku growled and charged at Inuyasha.

Inukai and Nina continued running down the halls of the crumbling palace.

“Where’s the exit to this place?!” Inukai demanded as another piece of the ceiling fell down behind them.

“I don’t know,” Nina said. “Why are you asking me?”

“I’m not,” Inukai said. “I’m asking any random person that might be around to hear me.”

Nina frowned, but didn’t say anything.

Naraku pinned Inuyasha against the wall with one of his spider legs as green slime began coming out of his mouth. Inuyasha struggled to get free, but couldn’t. Inuyasha then saw that the wall behind Naraku was beginning to fall. He kicked Naraku off him then pushed him into the wall. Inuyasha then charged after him and used the wind scar. Naraku snarled as the blast hit him causing him to crash into the wall. The force of the blow caused the wall to fall down on Naraku.

Inuyasha sheathed Tessaiga and turned his back on the scene. “You are now dead and I’ve avenged Kikyo and paid you back for Kagome’s wounds. I can now have the life I’ve always wanted.” He then ran off towards the exit Koga took.

Nina and Inukai dodged another part of the ceiling that gave way. Inukai growled out of frustration and turned another corner to see the wall for in their way. Inukai let out a stream of curses then ran back in the direction they came from and turned another corner. Soon, they found themselves running down the main hall.

Alendria went over to Seth and helped him up. “Naraku must be losing. That would be the only reason why he’s destroying his palace.”

Seth’s eyes opened. “Let’s… just get out of here.”

Alendria nodded and teleported out of the palace with Seth.

Inuyasha saw Kagome and the others and ran over to them.

“Inuyasha!” Kagome cried as she began running over to him.

Inuyasha’s eyes darted to the ground as he fell forward. Kagome caught him in her arms and kneeled down as he sat up.

“I-it’s over now,” Inuyasha said closing his eyes. “I’m glad.”

Kagome’s eyes filled up with tears. “Inuyasha! Don’t die! You can’t leave me!”

“He’s just resting Kagome,” Koga said.

“Huh? Uhh…” Kagome looked down at Inuyasha to see he was asleep as his breathing slow and calm. Her eyes softened. “Well, it has been a long day.”

                                    “But where’s Inukai?” Sota asked.

“And Nina?” Sharon and Anna asked.

They all looked towards the palace their faces filled with concern.

Inukai and Nina soon spotted daylight when part of the ceiling fell down in front of them. The two quickly backed up when part of the ceiling fell down behind them. The two were now trapped with no way to get out of the palace. Inukai and Nina looked up to see the ceiling crack. The crack grew larger and soon the ceiling fell down. Inukai pushed Nina down to the ground and went over her to make sure she didn’t get hit.

Naraku growled as he threw the wall off himself. “Inuyasha, you will not get away with that.” He began running towards the exit.

Inukai threw the debris to the side as he stood up. He then looked down at Nina who sat up. “You okay?”

“Uh-huh,” Nina said nodding. Her eyes then widened when she saw the deep gash on Inukai’s arm that had been inflicted by a piece of the wood. She quickly stood up and pointed a finger at Inukai’s wound. “You’re hurt.”

Inukai covered his wound. “It’s nothing. Don’t worry.”

“You sure?” Nina asked biting her lower lip.

                                    “I’m sure he’s sure,” a voice said.

The two turned around to see whom the voice had belonged to.

Inuyasha stood up as soon as he had learned that Nina and Inukai still hadn’t left the palace. “Where the hell are those two?!”

                                    “I don’t know,” Miroku said.

“I hope nothing happened to them,” Kagome said softly as she and the others continued watching the collapsing palace.

“Naraku,” Inukai said bitterly unsheathing his sword and putting Nina behind him.

Naraku snarled. “You are in the way, you ungrateful hanyou.” He charged after Inukai.

Inukai put his sword up in defense. Naraku pushed him causing him to crash into Nina who crashed into the wall of debris. Naraku continued attacking Inukai causing him and Nina to go father into the debris. Soon, it looked as though they were in a cave as Naraku pushed the two farther and farther into the debris.

Damn it. If I don’t do something fast, I’m going to squish Nina and I’m going to be killed, Inukai thought as he continued blocking Naraku’s attacks.

Inuyasha and the others continued watching the palace when they saw it completely collapse.

“Nina!” half of them cried while the other half cried out Inukai’s name.

They then saw Inukai and Nina get thrown out of the palace. Their eyes widened and they quickly ran to the scene.

Inukai stood up and glared at Naraku. Nina also stood up and looked around for a place to hide knowing Inukai wouldn’t want her to get involved.

This is one fight he and Inuyasha will have to deal with on their own, Nina thought as she saw Inuyasha and the others join them.

Inuyasha stood next to Inukai with his Tessaiga in front of him. “Why won’t you die?!”

Naraku smirked. “You’ll have to do better than that, Inuyasha.”

Inuyasha growled. “You’ll bet I’ll do a whole lot better to make sure you die.”

Kagome and the others stood back as they watched Inukai and Inuyasha charge after Naraku.

Nina watched Inukai as his and Inuyasha’s swords began glowing red. Inukai…

Inuyasha, you can do it. I believe in you, Kagome thought.

                                    This is it, Sango thought.

Once he’s gone, Kai and I will be free of the curse that runs through our right hands, Miroku thought.

Time for the one who harmed my sister to die, Sota thought.

Once he’s gone, I can finally stay with my sister in our village, Kohaku thought. And I can be an uncle again.

Hmm, after this is over, I believe I shall marry Nina, Koga thought.

Well, I guess this means we’ll finally get some homework, Anna thought.

Hmm, what should I tell my brother when I get home? Sharon thought.

It’s about time Naraku died, Shippo thought.

Inuyasha and Inukai swung their swords using their ultimate attack. “Bakuryuha!” The blast hit Naraku and he crashed into a tree knocking it over. Kagome and Nina ran over to Inuyasha and Inukai as the two fell to their knees.

“It’s over,” Inuyasha said sheathing his sword.

Inukai did the same. “Now, we’ll all be happy again.”

Kagome and Nina looked towards the now dead Naraku and nodded.

“Yes, we’ll all be a lot happier now,” Kagome said smiling.
