Due to the lack of spare parts, the RX-796 Gundams were either repaired with GM parts or rebuilt from scratch.

When Shiro's Gundam is heavily damaged, it is rebuilt into the "Extra Zero 8," or Ez8 for short. The modified armor and a rod antenna in place of the typical V-fin give the Ez8 its distinctive look.
