The digidestined (minus Matt, Joe, and Mimi) are walking down what seems like an endless road. Suddenly, Kari collapses. Tai feels responsible, because he didn't notice she was sick. He has memories of several years ago when Kari was hospitalized gravely ill. Luckily, Tentomon has found civilization not too far off. As Kabuterimon, he carries them all to a deserted city that seems to be a mixture of famous cities on Earth such as New York City, Rome, and Paris. They find a large empty home and take shelter. Unfortunately, all of the cupboards are bare so Tai and Izzy venture out to find medicine. Sora and T.K. are left to watch over Kari.
Once outside, Izzy hooks up his computer to a local phone line and finds an online map of the city. He proceeds to do a search for hospitals and pharmacies. Little did they know....but Machinedramon was watching their every move. He orders his mons (Ha, ha, get it!) to send troops to blow up each location Izzy brought up on his laptop. Uh oh!
Tai and Izzy arrive at the hospital. Poor Tai has another flashback, but Agumon snaps him out of it. Izzy again plugs in his computer when they need to determine what medicine is best for Kari. Because of that, Machinedramon was able to pinpoint their exact location. He has all his forces converge on the hospital ready to attack.
Just as the boys find the right medicine, explosions ring out. When they try to exit the hospital, they come face to face with dozens of Mekanorimon and Tankmon. When a Mekanorimon and Tankmon accidentally shoot each other, our heroes are able to escape through a back window. Again Izzy plugs his laptop in to find a safe route back to Kari. Just as he realizes that his computer is what is tipping off Machinedramon, the huge Megadramon comes crashing through the wall.
Agumon digivolve to Greymon. Tai's partner uses his nova blast, and they escape.
Meanwhile, in an eerie looking castle on top a thin spiral mountain, Piedmon looks on feeling bored. At the same time Greymon needed to digivolve to MetalGreymon so they could elude their attackers once again.
The boys and their digimon find refuge in a replica of Westminster Abby. There, Izzy blames himself...and for a brief moment so does Tai. When Tai cools down, he finally explains what had happened when Kari was just in Kindergarten. It seems she was sick and stayed home from school. When Tai got home, he wanted to play outside but didn't want to leave her alone so he took her out to play soccer thinking that she seemed ok. She collapsed while playing and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Kari had developed pneumonia and almost died. When she was finally released from the hospital, all she could think about was not being able to play soccer with Tai. Tai starts to cry saying, "Kari thinks of everyone but herself."
A little while later Izzy goes online but this time he is going to mask their access point. He wrote a special program....prodigious! Machinedramon gets angry and instructs everyone to initiate plan "Eliminate!" Tai and Izzy watch in horror as Magadramon and Gigadramon fire upon the city. Izzy realizes that Machinedramon must have gotten tired searching for them and decided to simply destroy the whole city! They race back to the others just as Megadramon is heading in the same direction.
Tai breaths a "short-lived" sigh of relief to see the home is still intact, because a second later it is reduced to rubble. Tai and Izzy scream in terror when they see a bomb heading straight for them. Hooray! They are saved by none other than Angemon. T.K. had noticed buildings were being destroyed and had everyone evacuate.
Before the digidestined can further their reunion, Machinedramon appears before them. They try to take cover in a large building, but the ominous digimon destroys that easily. Afterwards he chants his sarcastic goodbyes. Our heroes are seen falling into the dark depths of the building....can they survive? Find out next time on Digimon Digital Monsters.
