DIGIMON: A NEW BEGINNING
                                                                 by Mr. Write

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I do not own Digimon or any of it's property. Any original characters
in this story were created by ME, and any similarities to other characters, should be
dismissed as coincidence, nothing more. If anyone wishes to use my characters (god
forbid! *~*) in one of their stories, please ask me before doing so. Please note, just
because I am writing this story due to the fact that I have writer's block for another of
my stories (titled Dragonball Z: Power of the Fates), doesn't mean that I am just going
to try and get everyone to read crap. Now, enough of my babbling and on with the story!

NOTE: Rated PG-13 for violence and occasional swearing (namely shit, damn and hell).

NOTE: This story takes place two years after season 2, and disregards T.K.'s
explanations about what happened after the battle with MaloMyotismon.

RRRRIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!

A slightly tanned hand shot out from under the covers to slap the
snooze button of his alarm clock. He groaned sleepily, and slowly removed himself
from his bed. He dragged himself lazily towards the bathroom across the hall, opened
the faucet and splashed some water onto his face. That woke him up quickly.

"Jake!" his mother yelled from the lower floor of the house, "Are you
ready yet? You do remember what today is, right?" Slowly, his mind connected the
day's date to the event. June 25th...the day that he and his parents were going to go
visit Japan for summer vacation. A friend of the family had recommended it as a great
vacation spot.

He grinned at himself in the mirror as he prepared to take a shower
and finish getting ready. After being stressed out by his exams for the past week, it
felt good for him to have something to look forward to. He quickly showered and changed
into his trademark outfit, which made him known throughout his school: a black tanktop,
a blue leather jacket, a pair of blue jeans with a black belt hanging down, a pair of
black army boots, a pair of blue wristbands, a pair of black half-gloves and a pair of
black sunglasses. (Notice a trend here, anyone? :P)

He dashed down the stairs to meet his parents at the breakfast table. His
father groaned when he saw what his son was wearing. "Are you ever going to wear
something different?" he asked.
Jake grinned at his father's jab at his choice of clothing. "I'll change when
you stop complaining about it," he replied, smirking at his little joke. His father
sighed, shook his head and went back to reading the morning paper.

"Now arriving, American Airlines Flight 22 from New York, New York to
Odaiba, Japan. Please make sure to retrieve your carry-on bags before departing," the
loudspeaker sounded. Jake stepped out of the plane and into the airport with a grin
on his face. He was finally free from school! He looked around, spotted his parents
and began to make his way through the crowd. Suddenly, he bumped into someone, and
they both fell to the ground with a yell.
He shook his head to clear the cobwebs, and turned to the person whom
he had knocked to the floor. His eyes widened as he saw that it was a girl about his
age with dyed pink hair. She's kinda cute, he said to himself, almost in a daze.
"I'm sorry," he said, quickly helping the girl to her feet, "I guess I
wasn't watching where I was going." The girl smiled in response.
"That's okay," she replied, "I should have been watching too." He smiled and
extended his hand.
"My name's Jake," he said, "I'm from the US. I'm visiting Japan on my
summer vacation." The girl's eyes widened in surprise.
"You don't say," she said, "I live there too! I've come back here for a reunion
with some old friends. By the way, I'm Mimi." She shook his hand, and her eyes wandered
to the clock sitting on the wall of the airport.
"Shit!" she cried, "I'm gonna be late! Well, it was nice meeting you, Jake.
Maybe we'll bump into each other again some time." With a wink of her eye, she dashed
off and out the door, leaving Jake standing by himself in the middle of the terminal.
"Goodbye, Mimi," he called after her, before running off to meet up
with his parents.

As Mimi left the airport, a dark, menacing figure crept forward, eyeing Jake
with a look that could almost be mistaken for longing. As Jake dashed off, the figure's
eyes never left him. The figure smiled sadistically, before slinking backwards and
creeping out the back door.

So what did you think? I know, it was pretty short for an opening chapter, but
that's what I came up with. Please feel free to comment on it, and try not to
flame me too much. Suggestions are more than welcome.
