Episode 38: The Blazing Blue Friendship

Matt and Gabumon were heading to meet their friends when they happened upon some mountains where manipulated Digimon were eerily lurking. Unfortunately, Gabumon was in great danger when captured by Mephismon, who sucks the energy of Digimon with an evil spell. He then sends that energy to a black crystal, which is one of the shards of Millenniumon.

Meanwhile, Matt is running for his life from the manipulated Digimon. Thankfully, Joe and Gomamon find a way to escape the hot springs, and arrive to help Matt just in time. It is difficult for him, but Matt asks for their help to get to the top of a mountain where Gabumon is held captive. It happens to be surrounded by Salamandamon.

As he climbs the mountain to save Gabumon, we learn how the two became partners: It happened suddenly. When Yamato arrived in the Digital World, Gabumon appeared before him. They ended up protecting one another and became friends.

With Joe and Ikkakumon's help, Matt is able to make it to he top, but Mephismon makes it hard for Matt to reach Gabumon. Their human and Digimon bond is so strong that Matt reaches Gabumon, who quickly evolves to Garurumon...then super evolution to Weregarurumon!

Weregarurumon uses Kaiser Nail and destroys Mephismon and the other attacking digimon. Not long after defeating Mephismon, T.K. arrives to join his brother.
