Picking up from the last episode, ExVeemon charges at MaloMyotismon only to be thrown back. T.K. tells Davis that they should retreat, but Davis replies, "As long as ExVeemon is willing to fight, I'm backing him." ExVeemon charges again and this time he pushes MaloMyotismon back. "Mental Illusion" MaloMyotismon shouts in retaliation. A white light engulfs the children, and they are thrown into an illusion of either their greatest desire or greatest fear.
T.K. finds that his family is all together once again. Yolei is surrounded by deserts only for her as she no longer has to contend with siblings. Cody is delighted to find his father alive so he can take him to see the digital world. Kari relaxes under a tree and watches as humans and digimon work and play together. Each of them return to reality when their own digimon and one of Veemon's evolutions appear before them. The digimon explain that what the children are seeing is only an illusion.
Elsewhere, Ken is trudging through a sandstorm when he notices something ahead. He is horrified to see the Digimon Emperor tied to a post and tortured by Digimon as punishment for his crimes in the Digital World. After the Digimon Emperor is reduced to data, Ken's brother, Sam, appears before him.
"I've come back to invite you to stay with me here where you no longer have to suffer for the errors of your past. Your punishment is over. I'm your brother. Trust me."
When Ken hears Wormon's voice, Sam Disappears. Ken is furious to hear it was all an illusion.
"That's it!" he says, "I'm tired of beating myself up for what's happened in the past. I'm not the digimon emperor anymore I've paid for my mistakes. I know that and so do all of my friends."
The other digidestined appear confirming their devotion and friendship.
MaloMyotismon's spell is broken.
Surprisingly enough Davis wasn't effected, however, he did wish for ExVeemon to get stronger resulting in all of his evolutions appearing at once. Each digidestined resolve to do the same thing. All the evolutions including DNA digivolutions, attack MaloMyotismon. The attack sends the evil digimon crashing into the real Digital World, where he becomes even stronger and begins to cover both the digital world and the real world in darkness.
Will MaloMyotismon envelop both worlds in his shroud of darkness?
