Continuing from last episode...EXveemon and Stingmon have DNA digivolved to Paildramon. Much to Arukenimon's dismay, Paildramon is powerful and able to easily battle Okuwamon. Everyone is stunned to see the new digimon, but Paildramon reminds them to get to the base with the crest of Kindness. Davis and Ken run ahead of the others and get to the vacant crest area. It must be inserted right below it's symbol. After Ken inserts the crest, the power begins to shut down with the reactor going off-line. Izzy informs them that the warp seems to be going back to normal.
Their celebration is short lived when more explosions occur...seems shutting down the reactor did not stop the explosions. Izzy emails Cody telling him that the warp is getting worse...not better. The crest didn't work. Cody yells at Ken wanting to know if there is something that he's not telling them, while Kari believes Arukenimon is behind everything. Speak of the devil....Arukenimon appears to them on one of the base's many monitors. She taunts them by celebrating her early victory of their destruction. Then she places doubt in their minds of Ken's trust. When the monitor blinks out, Ken gets a brainstorm. "Follow the pipes!" he tells everyone, "The pipes send energy to the reactor above. Following them will lead us right to the source of its power. If they plug that source, we should be able to stop the reactor from exploding."
As they venture thru the tunnels another explosion causes a blockage. Luckily, Armadillomon takes care of that with his diamond shell and Hawkmon helps with a feather strike. The blockage is cleared. Soon they get to the reactor, which gives each of the digidestined an eerie feeling. Ken explains how the area is a doorway that leads to the world of darkness. They've got to close the opening where the dark power is coming from. Another huge explosion takes place. Paildramon quickly ends his fight by using his "desperado blaster" resulting in Okuwamon's destruction (Why didn't he just use that before? I can hear the animators saying....need more footage to kill about 10 minutes.) Paildramon quickly enters the base and seals the leaking reactor. Izzy falls off his chair in relief. Not long after, Paildramon uses another "desperado blaster" to destroy the base once and for all. Two baby digimon come running up to their celebrating partners. Paildramon de-evolved to chibomon and leafmon. Davis turns to Ken wanting to shake hands and be friends, but Ken feels guilty and not ready to take that step. Leafmon echoes his goodbye as they depart.
Once back in the real world, Izzy asks the digidestined to come to his home the next day to discuss DNA digivolving. That evening, before they both doze off, Davis and Ken (in their own beds) recap the events that occurred. Davis really wants Ken to reconsider, and his wish may come true for Ken seems to be breaking down somewhat. After all, it would be great to have friends.
A new day has dawned and everyone has gathered at Izzy's home (his room to be more precise). He begins to explain DNA digi-volution by describing it as the most powerful part of one digimon merging with the most powerful part of a second digimon to produce one more powerful than either alone. He further explained how DNA digivolving has happened before in the creation of Omnimon (2nd movie). Then Izzy told how Gennai called them back to the digital world not long after they had defeated Apocalypmon. Gennai said the children must release the powers that protect the digital world in order to defeat the forces of darkness. Everyone listened and knew what they had to do.
To defeat the forces of darkness, the digidestined had to release the powers of their crests. It was the only way to protect the digital world from the evil forces that threatened. Their eight crests combined to create a powerful force that spread across the digital world. Kind of like a coating of goodness. It brought peace and beauty to the Digital World. The shield stopped the forces of darkness from spreading, but there was a side effect. The digidestined's digimon lost the ability to digivolve to their ultimate forms. T.K., however, isn't brooding over the weakness...in fact he feels that DNA digivolving resembles fighting like an ultimate. Izzy then continued saying he believed Stingmon and Exveemon DNA digivolved because of the threat Okuwamon presented.
Wondering if DNA digivolving occurs only when there is a big enough threat, Yolei and Davis want to enter the digital world immediately. Izzy panics because his mom is due home any minute. Only seconds later there is a knock on the door and Mrs. Izumi enters. She has brought donuts and juice for everyone. While the digidestined are happily munching their snacks, Mrs. Izumi asks Izzy where his friend Tento is? Everyone is surprised except T.K. who interjects, "It's Tentomon." Izzy just grins and sighs knowing his mom means well.
