As the episode opens, Birdramon is fighting a losing battle against three of Ken's flying dragons. Just as she's hit, Birdramon calls out for Sora, who's back on earth playing tennis with some friends. Sora leaves the game and finds that her Digivice is acting up. Birdramon digivolves back to Biyomon and collapses in front of a new control spire.
Kari and Gatomon are out for the day, and TK and Patamon are at home, sleeping like the dead. Luckily Davis, Yolei, and Cody are at home to answer Biyomon's call for help. They head toward the computer room where they meet up with Sora and decide to go into the Digital World without TK and Kari.
They land in the middle of a desert sand storm. Once the sand settles, the kids find themselves in a ghost town right out of the American old West. They follow the sound of a piano into a saloon, where a Starmon welcomes them to town with "Welcome Milk" and shows them wanted posters of Biyomon. The Digimon Emperor has put out a reward for her capture that Starmon is after.
Starmon reveals a dark ring beneath his cowboy hat. He's been given orders by the Digimon Emperor to destroy the Digidestined. They try to get away, but Starmon hits them with a meteor shower attack, ties them up, and locks them up in a cell, where Biyomon is being kept. She's very weak. Starmon tricked her into thinking that he wasn't controlled by the Emperor--the same way he tricked the Digidestined.
V-mon tries (and fails) to break open the cell using his V-head butt. Armadillomon is too weak to digivolve to Digmon, so it looks like the kids are stuck. Suddenly Deputymon crashes into the jail. He announces he's looking for card players. He'll only take girls though, because boys cheat at cards. When Starmon comes back to find only Cody and Davis left in the cell, he freaks out and runs off to find Deputymon. The boys untie themselves while the girls begin a game of Old Maid with Deputymon. Starmon appears and challenges Deputymon. The boys use the ropes to lasso the lunch Starmon left behind and an energized Armadillomon armor-digivolves to Digmon. Once out of the cell, V-mon digivolves to Raidramon.
Just as Deputymon is beaten by Starmon, Raidramon and Davis appear. But Starmon beats them as well. V-mon digivoves to Flamedramon and quickly defeats Starmon. The dark spire collapses and Starmon's dark ring cracks. He apologizes to the Digidestined and the group plays cards back at the saloon.
Meanwhile, Ken is plotting a mysterious new way to stop the Digidestined for good.
